Favorite Craw for T-Rig , C-Rig or Shaky Head ? 2025

fishing user avatarChrisD46 reply :

According to experts : Once we hit the 13 hours per day of daylight - craw fish will be out in force ... What is your favorite craw for dragging on a C-Rig / Swing Head Jig , dragging / yo-yoing on a T-Rig and lastly dragging / dancing on a Shaky Head ? Let's hear your fav craw & set up for targeting large , mainly open expanses of water (think highland reservoir ) where primary / secondary points where rock , gravel , clay bottoms are the norm .

* I purposely left out flipping / pitching craws and their set ups which are primarily target based applications .

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Rage Craw, YUM Christie Craw or Craw Papi for a T rig/swing head

Shakyhead it's a Crock-o-Gator Ring Craw

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

I like em all . The Larew Salt craw works well on all of the above . I also like the guido bugs but havent seen them for a long time ..

fishing user avatarMike L reply :

Well for me I use a Lizard or Speed Worm for C rig. Never really had much success with a small craw type bait.

For t rigging its either the Rage Craw, Rage Bug or Brush Hog.

Punching Rage Bug or D Bomb

Haven't thrown a Shakey head in years...When I did it was a trick worm.

Mike

First I have heard of the Crock-O-Gator (plus associated shaky head) and I am a regular lurker on TW's web site ... I like it - thanks for introducing me to something new Bluebsser 86 !!

I really like them on a Pro Spider Slider head. It's a very finesse bait but it was a killer for me last year, and on some nice quality fish too.

fishing user avatarWIGuide reply :

My go to craw for those applications is the Berkley Chigger Craw or Crazy Chigger. It also doubles as a great jig trailer.

fishing user avatarcrypt reply :

Gene Larew Salt Craw,Gambler BurnerCraw.

fishing user avatarS. Sass reply :

Netbait Paca Craw and Baby Paca Craw.

fishing user avatarScarborough817 reply :

t-rig: jackall cover craw or gambler burner craw

shakey head: rage craw or chigger craw

fishing user avatarsmr913 reply :

Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw on a 3/16 ounce shakey is my go to. I had a couple great days with a C-Rigged 4" Havoc Pit Boss last year too.

fishing user avatarbowhunter63 reply :

Rage or Creme

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

Either a Zoom speed craw, or an ultravibe speed craw.  They make good trailers also.

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

Chigger craws are a good "all around" choice for me.

I use Yum Christie Craws when I want to show them a little something different.

And the Yum Craw bug makes a great finesse jig trailer.

I think when my supply of chigger craws is used up, I am going to give the Yum Craw Pappi a try.

Yum baits continue to impress me, and they are great values.

So this is going to sound crazy. It may be, but this is my experience nonetheless. I have tried every crawfish imitator that I can buy. The crazy chigger craw 3.5 in in green pumpkin was a game changer for me. I always have one texas rigged with a non-pegged light bullet weight.

My local BPS/Dicks has limited supply of this bait so on a few occasions I had to buy the regular chigger craw because they did not have the crazy chigger craw. I tried same size, same colors. Not sure if its the bait or my confidence but signficantly less bites on the regular chigger craw. This is also over the course of several years too. So in my estimation this rules out any possible seasonal explanation, i.e. crazy chigger craw has more action due to extra apepngahdes then the chigger craw. This could explain a difference in the pre-spawn but year round I still don't get it.

fishing user avatarRobert Riley reply :

Rage craws and rage lobsters

I haven't noticed a difference, but I'm not disputing your findings either. Maybe it has to do with action, confidence, or how you're fishing them. The crazy chiggers aren't the easiest to find around me either, so I've been limited to 1 color in the crazy chigger. I just got an order in on Monday that was mostly chiggers and crazy chiggers so I'll see if my results match yours this summer!

Zoom ultra vibe speed craw

Zoom magnum craw

Berkley chigger craw

fishing user avatarYeajray231 reply :

I like the rage craw, and GY fat baby craw

Also. Not someone I know personally but @Logan S turned me onto reins ring craw a few months back in another thread. And I'm glad he did cuz the bait is a winner. Pricey. But I forget about it when I'm catching fish.

A little "mend-it" goes along way with my soft plastics. I suggest you get some of this as well for any expensive soft plastics.
