What method are you guys using to tie-on? Direct? loop? split ring? snap (what brand)? Thanks
Owner welded snap 33lb
Owner Tear Drop Split Ring ~ size 1 on the 1/4 oz bait
And size 2 on the 1/2 oz Mag Pop-R
A-Jay
decoy round snap size 2, no split ring
Direct.
I tie them direct.
Can anyone comment on the pros/cons of tying direct vs a snap/split ring?

At least on the original Pop-Rs, you always tied direct and shifted the knot down toward the bottom of the eye because you wanted to get the cupped face up in the air so it spit more than it "popped/blooped." Then guys started sanding their baits when the lure was "brought back" to remove the cupped bottom lip. Then the fancy versions came out like the Splash-It, Rico, etc. that were designed and built to give you the same action right out of the box.
Mustad Fastach Size 1 to the popper.
Direct.
I do not want any "extra" weight on the nose of the Pop-R.
I have used duo-locks for years...no complaints. The ones that used to come on the front of my Luhr Jensen Speed Traps were the best...almost out. Eagle Claw used to make a good one but they got to wide.
I tie direct.
Tie direct
Always direct

Directly tie Palomar knot for me I got my pb on a rebel pop r!
BPS clips for me, but I like being able to change quickly. I also like the extra freedom of motion and the small clips add very little weight
owner or decoy
Clips on a pop r ? Blasphemy!
Direct tie, slide the knot down, & add a size larger feathered treble
Direct!
Direct, unimproved clinch knot, tag end facing down, cut flush with bottom lip, each time, every time. Goes for all poppers.

I did not know that and will try it out . I like for the baits to spit as far as they can .

Oh well, if we're telling everyone, I leave the old ties on the popper, which keeps me from having to slide the knot down every few casts... %$##$ InterWeb®
Direct with a loop knot.

That does not compute .

"Professor Robinson, I'll just take the rover and your oldest daughter beyond that ridge to "look for neutronium". We should be back in a couple of hours, oh and I wouldn't leave Will alone with Smith..."
I use a small Norman Speed Clip. Also use this for crankbaits. I remove any split ring that came with the bait.
