Small jigs on spinning gear 2025

I'd like to learn to fish jigs this year but I'd like to start with small jigs on spinning tackle. Any suggestions on good smaller profile jig maybe say 1/8 ounce to 1/4 ounce that I could tip with a beaver bait or something like that? Thanks.

Strike King Bitsy Bug x 2
They don't last a very long time but they're great for beginning. They work really well and have a good profile plus they're very inexpensive.
If you prefer to get higher quality right off the bat, Siebert Outdoors makes a finesse jig called the Sniper jig that is great and we'll reccomended. There's a link to their site at the bottom in the sponsor logos.

Yes, and i would fish a Netbait Tiny Paca chunk or a Zoom swimming chunk!

I just ordered a NRX spinning rod that I plan to use for bottom contact baits. I thought I'd add this to the mix.

A tube is a tube on a hook and jig. But he's talking about a skirted bass jig.

So they are both lead headed hooks one just has a skirt and the other has a piece of plastic over them. I didn't know the guy already fishes tubes a lot already. If he does then he probably knows how to already fish a jig.

I hear what you're saying but skirted jigs are more intimidating to me. I fish Lk St Clair so drifting and dragging tube jigs is a very effective manner of catching fish. If the other jigs fish similar to tube jigs I should pick it up pretty fast. Just have never done it before.

No prob. Just tryin to give you some options. Generally tubes are cheaper than skirted jigs so I thought it would be a good way to learn what a bite feels like.

I use bitsy bug jigs all the time. My two favorite trailers are the bps brand river bugs in the smaller size and the zoom u vibe craw.

Yep, I love using berkley chigger craws or even strike king rage tails on them. Obviously the smaller versions of both baits, but both work well and are great for downsizing when the bite is tough.

Booyah Baby Boo Jig + Zoom Creepy Crawler Trailer is a GREAT finesse jig combo (better jig than Strike King Bitsy Jig at the same price).
For finesse botom dragging - it's hard to beat a Bass Patrol 1/4oz. football jig (inexpensive) with a baby Paca Chunk Craw .
Green Pumpkin and Black & Blue are the only colors you need to get started !

I've been using Strike King Bitsy Bug jigs for the last couple years with no complaints. I usually use a SK Baby Rage Craw as a trailer (and bite off the first 2 segments). With that said I'm going to order some Sniper and Finesse jigs from Seibert this year. They are only about $.30 more and I will get a better hook, more color selections and better overall quality.

There are a lot of 316 to 5/16 oz finesse jigs on the market, a few have top quality hooks.
If are asking about a jig with a weed gruard the following should work with 8 lb FC or mono/ copolymer line.
Siebert Sniper jig looks good, I use Don Iovino Star Burst and Skinny Bear finesse jigs and they are good.
Don't limit your spinning tackle to weed guard style jigs when darter, round, mushroom and football plain heads in 3/32 to 3/16 oz sizes without a skirt work good with soft plastic worms and creature/craws.

I cut my chops jig fishing with spinning gear and super micro finesse jigs. With spinning gear a light wire hook and appropriately set drag are a must. I think I was using a 1/16th oz . jig mostly. Now a days all I fish are 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 oz on casting gear with at LEAST 12 lb test.
