Watermelon red flake and green pumpkin/orange have both been very productive lately.

For finesse jigs, which is the majority of jig fishing I do, Ive really been digging these Riot baits Tantrum trailers lately.

For full size jigs I like the Netbait Paca chunks because they come in a million colors so you can always find one to match whatever color you’re throwing well. I also just got a few packs of the Z-man Batwingz trailers and really like them so far, other than how frustrating it is to get the elaztec to go over a trailer keeper haha.

So far, my favorite is the 4" Chigger Craw. They make 3" ones if you like, but if you want a shorter one, you can just cut a little off the 4". It holds so much scent, I'm convinced fish will hold it longer and the scent stays on a long time. I've put some other leftover craws I had in the bag with these to soak up the scent. I like the GYCB hula and twin tail grubs, but you go through more of them. I'm still a novice at jigs, but I'll experiment with different ones in the different seasons.

Black/blue is the ticket around here. If I'm ever confronted with clearer water, I'll try a brown jig. It seems like the only rains we've had this summer were torrential and the water, which is rarely clear, has remained turbid for summer. We have another tropical storm headed our way with the promise of 5" of rain in a few hours.

Partial to Rage Craw most of the time. Some days a bulkier Pit Boss or Fuzzy Beaver will be much better. Colors are generally very complimentary.

Chigger crawls and Super chunks have been my main two for years. Double tailed grubs for football jigs. The last two years though I have been using Prowler because of the colors like GP/Black swirl and this awesome blueish/black.

The Netbait Paca Chunk craw in regular size is had to beat due to multiple colors to allow mix & match , great scent and cost effective ... Only negative (at times) is pesky Bluegill can tear off a claw fairly easily . Another good low cost option is the Berkley Havoc Scott Suggs 4" Rocket Craw as a jig trailer (dip the two antenna in JJ's chartreuse for added attraction) .

There's a ton of info on the InterWebs about this. I just looked at YouTube and you couldn't watch all the videos on the topic in one day. But basically, more action in warm months and less action in colder months. I'd bet a lot of people use one, exclusively. I will until they quit biting it.

Every lake has different color preference and each seasonal period affects jig trialer size, action and color as the sunlight or night affects color, action size etc.

For example where I fish you buy a strike on black during summer days and it's excellent during summer nights. During the winter cold water period black works good on the same lake it works poorly during bright sunny days. This is just 1 color on the same lake. When add colors on the same lake low light purple trailers are good and mid day brown or greens work then change to blues in afternoons.

For those reasons it' nearly impossible to have favorite colors and why I use a wide variety each trip fishing jigs.

My favorite type of jig trailer is pork rind, no longer available. I always fish a black/purple/brown hair jig with either black or purple or redish brown (barn red) pork trailer. On the same jig I can alternate the 3 colors and let the bass decide what they want at that time.

Living or silicone skirt jigs you need to be careful not to go overboard with color choices because they are unlimited. Soft plastic jig trailers I try to stay with the basic black, purple, brown and add Pearl white and greens, all with a variety of high light flakes or contrasting laminations, again use caution as colors are unlimited. My preferences are Pearl white with black, blueand gold flakes, cinnamon brown with blue neon and black and purple flakes, green pumpkin with black and purple flakes, black with blue neon.

PS, my color preferences come from catching bass wherecI fish, not reading about them or what bass can or cannot see.

I use whatever is available . Craws and twin tails get threaded on a lot but have used worms and Lizards too. I use about any color except red and white in the shallows . I get to many sunfish nipping at red and white .

I have cut it down to a Rage Menace on full size jigs and the Baby Menace on finesse jigs. My hottest combo right now is a 1/2 oz solid black living rubber jig with a Blue Sapphire Rage Menace trailer.

I like the Zoom critter craw in various colors. Rage menace grub in the 3" size is good too. I like a little smaller trailers overall, not more than 3"" in size. Like WRB I started with pork trailers. Wish they were still available

Zoom Super Chunk, Zoom Small Salty Chunk, or a Netbait Paca Chunk is what I usually start out with but I'll use any plastic in my bag as a trailer. My most productive colors are black, sapphire, green pumpkin, and junebug.

Another vote for the Zoom critter craw. I actually prefer the Little Critter Craw. To me a jig is more of an oversize

finesse presentation. If the bass are extremely active I have numerous other lures to throw. But when they are inactive and tight to cover, a jig with a Zoom Little Craw trailer can work wonders. I will throw this combo year around and it certainly simplifies my trailer inventory!

I like the Zoom ultra vibe speed craw and the twin tail grub. I got lucky and caught a bass today on the PB&J color with an Alabama craw colored trailer.

I would like to add the Zoom creepy crawler 3" twin tail grub for a finesse trailer. They only make a few colors but I only use GP.

I don't have a favorite...yet. I have actually not thrown a jig yet, but I picked up a green pumpkin boo jig and I am going put a Zoom super speed craw on it and hope for the best. Let's be realistic, I will probably snag it and lose it before I catch anything.

I think black/red is a greatly-underrated color for jigs and plastics, and in my experience just as effective as other dark colors, or better.

If I just take a look into my jig boxes to see what trailers I have rigged up at the moment, ready to go for the next time I head out, here's what I find:
