Even though this color isn't the most natural, I have had a ton of luck with it. In fact my PB came on a Bomber BD8F in Citrus Shad as well as my new freshwater other fish pb on the road trip......
Jeff
Wow
Citrus shad, clown, fire tiger... any of those chartreuese patterns work at certain times along with red craw chrome/black and shad patterns. These are about the only colors I keep regularly.

Wow man those are some really nice fish! If you dont mind me asking, when do you like to throw the citrus shad? I was thinking anywhere from almost clear water to almost heavily stained water would be good for citrus shad, but I havent actually used it before so I wasnt really sure.
Those are awesome fish Jeff!! Iv had my share of luck on citrus shad also, but nothing like that!!

I fish it in any water. But where I think it excels is on cranks 15'+. Bomber BD8F has been my #1 producer. I also use this color on squarebills.

After I read this thread title, I knew who the OP was without even looking . . . . .
Slamming PB Bass btw

Two of my big fish on the road trip came off a Fat Free Shad in this color. I likely would have gotten more, but I ended up loosing it to those freakin rock crevises they have down there. I switched to a SK sexy shad after that and only caught dinks. I hear you're very familiar with those.
I love me some Citrus shad!
It's never luck in fishing it's applying the knowledge we have learned, but it's really our increased skills that catches fish.
Citrus Shad yup this color is in my ritual of lures I throw now too.
I have the citrus color on my dancing buzz too.
Citrus Shad and Sexy Shad seem to work well for me even though there are no fish with those colors in any of the lakes that I fish.
Jeff that color might work on smallies too.
00 Mod.... What line type and what reel did you

I hate citrus shad I just recently found a guy that has a bunch of Excalibur xcs100 and I've was buying them like hot cakes but all he has left is citrus shad I just don't know if I should buy them I have no confidence in this color ? What situations would you throw this bait for?

If you encounter stained water, this is a great color to be throwing. Up here, we get a lot of green algae that colors the water, and it's a killer on smallies.
You don't hear a lot of ppl saying that there go to is citrus shad I guess you're trying to say throw where you would a chartuse black back crank? I just can't stand this color I have thrown it without any success in dirty water. I always see citrus shad in the bargain bins. There is no fish that you can imatate with lemon lime lure its ridiculous.
Maybe it was a good color for the OP almost 3 years ago?
I bought a few of the Xcalibur Xcs100 in Citrus Shad (among other colors) a week or so ago to try on Smallies up here. Hoping they will work great like @papajoe222says.

The bass Jeff is holding at the top of this page disagrees with you, or maybe she thought it was so ridiculous she just had to kill it. Either way
I really have better luck on the citrus shad color in clearer water than I do the chart/black back baits for whatever reason. I agree that the algae blooms in the summer seem to signal prime citrus shad or parrot crankbait time.

True but a bass will eat anything sometimes.

Either way I'm going to buy the last three xcs100 this dude has in the citrus shad.(will post on the bait monkey support group as soon as possible)

I found 2 of the XCS100s in citrus shad at Cabela's 2 years ago and at $4.88 I bought both. I figured I'd use it as a stained water color but it turns out that it works really well in clear water conditions too!!
WOW!
Congrats

That's what bluebasser86 also mentioned and I do fish clear water sometimes, sounds interesting though, I'm going to have to be quite honest and say I never gave the color a fighting chance I'm going to throw it till my arm falls off.
@Pilot. Many shad, including the most popular threadfin shad, have chartreuse coloring to them:

To me it is almost match the hatch with this color. When a crank is bombing through the water, I think the ish see chartreuse and think it is a fleeing threadfin!
Jeff
What a spoonie .
Citrus shad is my #1 color for deep crankin in the summer. I fish a big muddy river, but it clears in the summer and the citrus shad bite is on. Always have one tied on July thru September.
Sometimes they aren't too picky about color and if it resembles bait where they live.
Jeff is spot-on!
I'm sure that most are familiar with the "Day On The Lake" series.
About a year ago, I had access to an overview sheet of the results to that point in time.
Along with many other statistics, I tallied all the winning color patterns for crankbaits.
The clear winner was "Citrus Shad", which had the strongest showing of any plug pattern.

Who you calling a spoonie!
Anything red right now is great because of the craw fish color. You will definitely catch a straight up giant!
