My initial impressions of the Lunch Worm and the Flat Nose Minnow.
Decent Baits.

Now you just need to catch a big small mouth and catch it on camera.

I been trying but cooperation has been low . . .

I keep telling my wife that catching requires a certain amount of cooperation on the part of the fish.
Interesting stuff! I kinda figured they would be something closer to a more stable Gulp! product than it sounds like. ????
A-jay, hows your British accent? I feel like I can picture you as a Dr. Who ????
anyway, I haven't heard a peep about these max scent baits until really recently. I've always thrown the 7" worm Texas rigged as a confidence bait but now with all the hubbub I need to try them out. I've always used gulp minnows for drop shotting but they're so inconsistent and dry out instantly.

The main advantage of the max Scent over the Gulp - is that the Max Scent Does Not Dry Out when left out / or on the hook. Can't say for sure if the 'max scent' wains over that time but the bait still fished just fine.

I went with a group kayaking yesterday. Only 4 of us were really fishing. We were about 30 mins from the takeout from a 4 hour trip and I only had two smallies, which was about like everyone else. I opened a pack of the lunchworm that I bought last week and put them on a drop shot. I caught 6 in the last 30 mins and my two biggest. So, yes. You can fish it on a drop shot..lol. Not sure if it was the worm or just breaking out the DS, but I'm eager to take them with me in the big boat and see what they can do. Nice review.
Edit: I've been using Powerbait since the late 80's. I agree, this stuff smells nothing like the Original which is kind of strange since it's called Max Scent ???

Cool ~
Perhaps the Max Scent is a kin to a Dog Whistle - I certainly can't hear it but my dogs surely can !

Big Doctor Who fan here. I can see A-Jay as the doctor however he looks more like Doctor Smith from Lost in Space minus the cowardice.
Thanks for the review A-Jay. I was close to picking up a pack of the general’s today. My wife gave me the side eye when she saw they were $7 compared to my $2 Dingers. The woes of marrying an accountant.

I did a double take too on the price but might be worth it.
Any chance you could spin it and use some investment analogy? ????

No problem Sir.

I might try that but we have been married over 15 years. She knows all my tricks.
Did seem overly enthusiastic about the baits- they - the worm- looked a little bent up out of the bag- -

Baits were fine out of the bag ~

Max scent baits have treated me well this year. Could just be a confidence thing as the fish were biting the first day I fished them.
Creature Hawg was the go to in the spring/early summer, now its D-worm on a 1/8 oz. shaky head. Only have have drop shotted with the flatnose once and resulted in a sunfish party.
They have held up much better then any gulp bait fished.
Good review AJay... I haven’t used those two worms but have others in the Maxscent line.
I was an avid Yamasenko wacky worm guy for years. Have switched over to Maxscent “The General” and it catches as many fish as the Yamamoto, costs less, and is more durable.
The Creature Hawg is another very good Maxscent soft plastic, I am hopeful it will come out in the Copper/Orange color the General has... I don’t know about you in Michigan but that color is a great crayfish imitator here in Minnesota and would be dynamite for smallmouth.
Bought a pack of the General today in watermelon green pumpkin color. Surprisingly it has no scent to my nose. So much better than regular powerbait dead fish garlic scent.
I caught 2 Smallmouth on it before my weedless hook tore it in half. I will use the halves for Ned rigs so no waste.
You can see the purple pack of worms in my tackle bag.
The other Smallie was a pounder. I am happy with my purchase.
I finally got out to try my recently delivered max scent baits. After watching your video I ordered a few bags of the general stick worms to try.
I hit the river yesterday... super high muddy water. Throwing June bug on a 4/0 weightless Texas rig. Not so much as a nibble until I got clobbered by a 4 pounder. Nothing else (one smallie on another rig). Today I hit my reservoir. Dirtier than normal because of some rain but overcast and post-front. I flipped the general, again Texas weightless, up right at the bank in and around laydowns, what a slug-fest. I literally lost count. I haven't had a numbers day like that in months. I even got broke off by what I'm sure would have been by personal best.... I haven't been broke off since I switched to YZH over a year ago but that's what I get for not watching my knots.
Anyway, I was apprehensive about the price and yesterday I found them to not be any more durable than yamamotos. Today I have to admit they might be on to something. I'm going to order the minnows to try on the dropshot.
I'm excited to try the regular powerboat general next month.
Great review A-Jay!
The Maxscent D-Worm I think would be of interest for shaky head , Neko and drop shot .

I fished it on a dropshot Thursday and they seemed to like it well, and I'm not very good at dropshotting! I had it wacky rigged and it had a nice, lively action.

Good to hear ! ... The Max Scent D - Worm in GP would be my starting point for sure . Not available locally yet so would have to order on line .

Going to try it on a shakyhead a bit after work this morning and see how it does.
I went through my pack of General's pretty fast. They produce for sure. Something about them the Smallies up here love.
Durability is questionable. They say on the pack to use a wacky weedless hook and I was but I lost 3 worms on the cast and 2 worms while fighting fish and the worm had ridden up the line. One shake from a Bass and the worm went flying. The hook and line seem to cut right through these guys.
I will be purchasing another pack but I am going back to the "O" ring method to see if I can make them last longer.

And here's @Glenn, commenting on @everythingthatswimsreview:
Wait... what??? Doesn't have strong repulsive smell? I just got some packs of the General and the Kingtail, and almost gagged when I opened them! Much worse smell than powerbait, and at least as potent!
What's going on here? Am I going crazy?
Could Maxscent be like PTC paper, where some people have the gene that makes them taste the bitterness and some don't??
Others in this thread concur with @A-Jay

Maybe I am going crazy? I just smelled it again -- absolutely nasty! I mean, Powerbait's potent, but the maxscent I got smells like there's a dead, decaying mouse in the bag, or something.
The smell doesn't over power like other baits. I have managed to get an unintentional taste after fishing them all day, not for human consumption is a true statement.
They have a detectable smell to me, but it is definitely more tolerable than gulp. Big plus--- there aren't any juices to get all over whatever fabric or rod handles come within striking distance

I prefer these over the O-rings... I think they last much longer and you don’t need a tool to put them on:

I tried out the general in junebug last weekend and went through the whole bag. So far it has been a great bait. It's hard to say after one bag but they may get as much use as Senkos if this continues. At $7 for 8, its pretty pricey.
The bag I had did smell though but it was not overwhelming.
Another key point: I've left the baits on the hook for a week, and they didn't dry out like Gulp. In fact, I picked up where I left off catching fish with them.
