Basspro Shops Soft Plastics 2025

fishing user avatarhoosierbass07 reply :

Next week I will be driving through Nashville and I plan on stopping at the BassPro Shop store in that city.  It's the only chance I get to visit a BassPro Shop since the two BassPro Shops in Indiana are too far away from me.

I want to buy a few soft plastics made by BassPro Shops.  I'm interesting in plastic worms, lizards and creature baits.

So are there any that are well known or more popular that I should get?  I don't have any BassPro Shop lures in my collection at all.  So I would like to pick up a few bags but I'm not sure what.

 Thanks!

fishing user avatarTorqueConverter reply :

Their XPS cranks are great.  I'm not a huge fan of their soft plastics.  A lot of people like the Stik-Os.  They're like a senko with a fatter tail section to give the bait a wider wiggle.  The baits need this extra built in action because the plastic is stiff.  I like their Punch Hogs as a follow up bait to frog blowups.

fishing user avatarSpencerLittle reply :

I picked a pack of their 10 inch ribbon tails to give a try this year. They are very similar to the zoom ol monster worm but a little over a dollar cheaper. So if they turn out to be good I'll be buying some more. That's the only one that I really found that I like. Off topic but have you looked at any of the Missile baits? They make some good stuff that you can't get everywhere.

fishing user avatarRipSomeLips reply :

My recommendation is to get their 241 piece all pro bass kit. It is a great value. Item #1844317. It has a good assortment of plastics for $21.99 It also comes in a 3700 series box which is nice.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

The 5 1/4" Stick O is my go to wacky rig and shakyhead bait. Their magnum Finicky worm is a good weightless or shakyhead worm also. I've done pretty well on their tubes and prerigged swimbaits as well.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

Shopping the BPS soft plastic section is easy.  Just bring your VISA and plan on a couple of hours wandering and looking.  As soon as you gravitate to the soft plastic section, grab a basket.  Walk up & down every aisle and throw stuff in your basket.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

I got there senkos , lizards and some, more swnkos. Hooks em wacky and go catch some fish,

fishing user avatariceintheveins reply :

They make good plastics. I like their ringworms especially and the tubes.

fishing user avatarspartyon8 reply :

Tubes, tubes and more tubes. The heads tear easily but they seem to work more than any other tube that I have tried.

fishing user avatarBassinLou reply :

BPS stick worms were recommended to me and they have suited me just fine since then.

fishing user avatarTartan34 reply :

BPS Frogs have produced well for me.

fishing user avatarBigMoneyGrip reply :

Their floating lizzard works good on a jika rig.

I'm assuming your not talking about the actual plastics, not the kermy?

I have a box of them and I've been having a hard time keeping them running true like how the Ribbit frogs can.  May I ask how you compensated or how you rig them?

I didn't like the Jerk Shad, not the ones you get in a package but the one with the wide tail.  I find the plastic to hard and have caught no fish on this version, the other Jerk shad is much better.  That is my only knock on that kit.  I've caught fish on the other baits though in the kit.

fishing user avatarTartan34 reply :

Yeah, the plastic "humpin toad". I rig it on an unweighted Owner Beast with a twist lock. I fish it in and around thick grass and pads.

Hrm you didn't find it flipping over at times?  I used a standard EWG though (Gammy).  I got annoyed if I didn't keep reeling in, it would just flip over.

fishing user avatarTartan34 reply :

It does flip over at times, and I haven't found a toad in that class that doesn't. The beast helps, as does the screw lock. I will fish an Air Frog most of the time (uprights itself) but the frog is my favorite in the BPS plastic lineup.

Maybe I'll try the twist lock hooks and see if that reduces the flipping over issues.  I've been using keel weighted hooks it helped the flipping but I didn't want it to sink as much as it did.  Thanks for your input!

fishing user avatardonk reply :

I fish the 3 inch tender tube, 4 inch magnum tube and the stiko. I like to stock up when on sale.

fishing user avatardeaknh03 reply :

lizards and stickos are their best.

fishing user avatarHomersTomaco reply :

BPS tubes are probably the best tubes of any brand out there.  I like the creature baits like the bull hog and river bug.  I still prefer a senko over a stiko but stikos are a lot cheaper and do work and have good colors.  They have a new swimbait that looks like a Keitech that swims great too.

fishing user avatarhoosierbass07 reply :

Thanks for the recommendations.  I will check them all out!

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

The only one of their soft plastics I use on a regular basis is the Stik-o.  They catch fish, and they don't tear up as quick as a senko.  I did have some issues with their flukes a few years back, so I tend to stay away from those now.

fishing user avatarfrogflogger reply :

stik-o's

fishing user avatarZach P reply :

I've never really used any of their plastics except the stik-o's and I can honestly say they are not very soft and they don't seem to have much action. It's possible based on the other comments that bass pro has since corrected this issue but I just wanted to give my honest opinion.

Another Stik-O fan here. I even made a point to develop confidence in them once by taking nothing but a few bags of Stik-Os with me, nothing else. I fished them wacky, fell in love with the Pepper Frog Hot Orange color - a laminate with green and orange colors. Bass killed them that day, and ever since.

The other color that is awesome: watermelon magic. Certain colors may work better for you, but I definitely think they're worth trying. I've got a number of other colors, but these are my favs. Oh, and I mostly fish them in 4 ¼" size, sometimes 5 ⅜" size.

For lizards and such, I mostly fish Zoom. Haven't fished any BPS creature that I know of, more or less Berkley stuff that I picked up off clearance. Don't fish any of these as much as Senko/Stik-O style baits.

fishing user avatarslainempire reply :

if you like shakey head fishing then check out the flicker worm

I agree they're not as soft as senko's but they really catch fish - a lot of fish -

I stopped in this afternoon. It's only my second time there but I'm impressed - that store has a ton of lures.

I picked up the 241 piece soft plastic kit, a bag of CharlienBrewer's slider worms, bag of grape mann's eight inch jelly worms, Carolina stoppers and 11/0 Owner hooks for my giant worms. I can't wait to try out those soft plastics! I think that store had almost at least one color of nearly every soft plastic made. After getting that 241 piece kit I think I'm done buying soft plastics for the year. I have so many already it's getting out of hand. lol.

I bought two of them last season and I still haven't used half the first box.

Well you made a wise choice IMHO. Have you had a chance to give them a whirl? Any luck?

With snow showers coming tonight?  lol.  No way.  I probably won't try them till mid-April or later.  Hopefully it will start feeling like spring once April gets here but we have snow-showers coming tonight.
