whose gonna buy one first?
This rod must be stored properly. Otherwise, the varmints would eat your rod.
Interesting idea. I'll wait to see a test.
Just got off the phone with Peter from E21. I am on the list to purchase. They look amazing!

Think I'll wait until the gimmicky smell goes away.

Is that Ben23 in the Tackle Tour photo?
That may very well be the dumbest concept I have ever heard. :-/
Fishing with a rod made outa rabbit food! Who woulda thought?
I hear they are using ranch coated guides. :-?
Sorry, I had to say that. I guess we'll eventually see how they turn out.

....and it should greatly improve your SIGHT fishing!

why?ken whiting is a rod building genius.maybe carrot fibers are better.

AHA! I THOUGHT that butt looked familiar ,....
Why so ugly with the color/graphics, man that thing is huge visual turn off. Doesn't mean it's not a great rod, for all I know, but cosmetically, I give it a -2

I prefer more subtle colors for my rods as well. I don't doubt that a lot of thought went into this rod. At the $350 price point, it sounds like they want to compete in the top-end rod market.
Read this quote on the Rodbuilding.org forum this morning about the Tackletour article..
Seems most of what has finally started to trickle down to hit the ICAST shows, has definitely come from the work tables and shops of some of the best custom builders we have and there articles that are headlined in the magazine.QuoteRe: Take a look at tackletour.comPosted by: Tom Kirkman (Moderator)

Most of the major commercial rod companies subscribe to RodMaker. I have to believe they pay attention to trends in the custom rod building world. There really wouldn't be any other reason for them to subscribe.
Now just starting to show up in the really higher end rods from many of the manufacturers...
All except for rods made from wabbit food... ;D

It just happens that the builder has got best of ICAST 5 times.
i think it's beautifull!!!

They had an interview on bass-feed podcast with the guy who invented these, Check it out, Does not sound like a dumb idea at all.

Probably not any dumber than using a lump coal to make the rods many of us use today.
Vic
This reminds me of that silly stuff that feels like plastic AND stronger than steel? HAHAHA. Carbon fiber. Sounds like a dietary supplement. ;D
I'll give you guys a full report once I get my carrot stick in October.
I'd fish it.
You can always eat it if you get hungry, Mighty expensive finger food.....

What does that have to do with anything? Even the best drop a turd from time to time.
Got one on order....
given who designed it, it's bound to be a great rod that I will never own.
An orange fishing rod?
why not pick celery or cucumbers. at least it would be green and you could dip into some guacamole if you got hungry
I think Roland Martin's gonna endorse it on his next show.
Seriously I thing the carrot stick will mark the zenith in the current rod design craze. Maybe then we go back to fishing with good quality grahpite and fiberglass rods.

This is true and he is a rod building genius but nothing he makes ever sells very well. Maybe he is too far ahead of his time or maybe he needs an education in marketing. I don't know what it is but he needs to sell his winning concepts. The five little crystal plaques he's got aren't worth any money.
The one possible draw back here would probabbly be not fishing around any of those
WASCALLY WABBITS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because he is a designer and not the manufacturer of the rods or the marketers.QuoteThis is true and he is a rod building genius but nothing he makes ever sells very well. Maybe he is too far ahead of his time or maybe he needs an education in marketing.
I agree 100%....QuoteI don't know what it is but he needs to sell his winning concepts. The five little crystal plaques he's got aren't worth any money.
Just because a designer has gotten 5 best of show awards from ICAST doesn't mean the rod/s fishes worth a crap, (remember it is a show, good looking show displays, and shinny never before used rods on display).
IMPO when the rod is put to the test on different waters over a period of time, has won some tourneys, and has actually been accepted by the angling community, then I would say yes maybe this rod would hold up and is worth the money asked.
Also IMPO just because TT has written it up, and given their so called approval, doesn't make it worth anything either.
Anyone purchasing one now is just purchasing a one of a kind rod not a proven fish catching tool..
Just my .02¢
Tight Lines All!!!
Like the Airrus N-Sync that won the best of show at ICAST in 2005, we will probably see one model of the Carrot Stick about two years from now. I was super excited about the N-Sync, and waited for it to come out....and waited....and waited. Finally almost 2 years later the 'series' was released....1 flippin' stick! The Carrot Stick is rumored to be heavy (in weight, not power)...which is right in line with the Airrus rods I've held.
NOW I've seen it all. :-?
P.S. I would prefer a rod made out of bacon. ;D
Looks arent everything, at least thats what my mom tried to teach me growing up Id be interested to see a review on them though from unbiased persons.
other than tackle tours affliction for high end tackle i'd have to say they are fairly unbiased.
