be honest
Have to ask..what do you mean by, match..? The colors, or brands..?
I like mine to be balanced..
I have a diawa regal and a procaster. And if i can find a way to paint my rods blue, im doing it. and im also looking for a purple rod if anyone knows of one ;D.
just by color.... not brand

Went through that last year, had to match my Alphas 103. The only rods I really came up with were the St. Croix Mojo and Airrus Puls-R, but neither really did it for me. Ended up with a Daiwa Zillion rod, best decision I have made so far.
As for my answer
The damiki with the zillion now has a new revo sx
I put no.
My rods are a few black a few brown & dark green. I have blue, chrome, red, white, light tan, black reels. If I like a product I get it.
I will say color may attract me to a product but no, no need to match.
I selected "no". But if they match the rod AFTER they balance the rod the way I want it, then I am that much happier.
I try to stick with black or dark gray rods and silver or black reels. One reason I choose Revos over Curado's is because I hate the green color on the Curados.I do still have 2 old Curados that I still use.
I have spent years putting together the rod/reel combo that perfectly matches the color of my eyes. I can't remember the brand names of the rod and reel, but they are both a beautiful hazel color.
I can't imagine anything I could possibly care less about.

Check out the Kistler Argon if you can find them. They come in a real pretty blue color.

I hadn't thought of that. Light golden brown would be very nice. My eyes are blue though. :
All of my combos match perfectly: Spinnging reels on spinning rods; baitcast reels on baitcast rods.
Okay all you guys that plan on buying a Ducket or Veritas....you're stuck with having to buy an 08 Okuma VS or an old Pflueger MAXX.

You are doing better than some people I know. ;D ;D ;D
I crossbreed rods and reels all of the time. I recently have been fishing an Antares AR on a Zillion 7' MXF, and a Chronarch 51Mg on a 6' Steez. Not only do they perform wonderfully, but they also look bad arse.
*Forgot to add...if you are looking to match/compliment colors, a brown blank, like the previous Legend Elites or the new Dobyns DX's, match superbly with a Shimano Conquest/Calcutta or Daiwa Sol.
I don't really care if the reel doesn't look good on the rod as long as its not a strange color
If the fish don't care, I don't either.
i think if you really want a piece of equipment and you dont buy it because the color doesnt match the other gear, there are many other hobbies you will enjoy more than fishing. like knitting, for example. :-*
Always.

Not trying to make a fashion statement, just trying to catch fish!
Matched in rod/reel weight balance, line and lure weight only.
Tight Lines!!!
NO.

yes i do know a rod that is purple, it is the bps Rick Clunn Power Fishing RCX rod its about $110
Yes and no, but for starters I won 't purchase a rod or reel with an unappealing color to my eyes, reason why I haven 't purchased a Chronarch D or a carrot Stick, to me the Chronarch D is too dull looking & the Carrot Stick is fugly as sin. My rods are brown, merlot, blue and black, my reels are silver, gold, red, black or green and they can sit on any of my rods without looking bad.
Not one bit.
Can't believe this was even asked.
QuoteAlways.Okay RW, what reel matches your yellow Lamiglas SR705R crankin rod ?

CTE200GT (gold) on the SR705R (yellow). Clear Yo-Zuri Hybrid
compliments the combination. A few other match-ups: CH50MG/
Dobyns Champion 683C (blue & silver); Curado 200E7/ BCR854
(forest green on forest green); Core 50MG7/ MBR842C (metalic
blaclk with red accent on black).
No bling-bling, just smooth and subtle.
Well...the SR705R might be an exception... :

BPS Clunn (RCX) is Purple and feels like a broom handle...

Oh yes, they do !

St. Croix MOJO is close.
Don't really care. All of my reels are silver, so that matches basically everything.
thats rediculus(sp?) that people would try adn match their rods and reels, i for one dont care though it was a bonus that my blue rick clunn signature series reel goes with my orange lamiglas excel very well
When you start using gear of a certain caliber, the looks of each stand on their own, and matching isn't nearly as important. Putting a Snoopy reel on a SpongeBob rod is a serious faux pas!

haha....mos def
I personally am not gonna match two rods up strictly on color alone. I have been fortunate to mix and match and combine a few combos that do match and fell really good together. My Sol and Carrot Stix Gold are almost perfect together, functionally and aesthetically. Likewise, my Damiki Dark Angel Rods are almost perfectly matched and balanced with my Stradic CI4 and Revo SX. Had I gotten a Mojo for my Alphas....well lets just say I wouldn't have a Mojo.

I tried matching a spinning reel to a baitcast rod and it didn't work too well.

Just reel backwards.
I'm vain. I said it.
What?
Crossdressing reels/rods is no big deal. What should be important is how the two pair up with each other performance wise
