Lets see both can be casted without using your thumb. They both have the same amount of plastic. Once setup the reel they never have to be reset. Oh, the Zebco is $150.00 cheaper. ;
Dude, you just opened a can of worms.
The Zebco isnt' green. That's a good thing!
Oh my God blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!
You need your mouth washed out with soap.
The Zebco is lighter than the CU300/301E
Not so fast - obviously we need a Poll for this but let's lay out all the info so people can choose wisely in the Poll:
- left handed availability
- gear ratios
- color
- weight
- magnetic/centrifugal brakes
- aftermarket handle availability
The Zebco could be the sleeper pick for 2009 reel of the year.
Bored guys?
Best feature, the 33 comes already spooled with free line!
If your gonna do a comparison. At least compare equivalents one is a spincast the other is a baitcaster.
While on the subject lets compare a Huffy bicycle with a Ducati. They both have two wheels, a seat and handle bars. The huffy cost about $14,000 less than the Ducati. They both get you from point A to point B on two wheels with the wind blowing thru your hair. ;D ;D ;D
The Zebco will still look cool next to your high dollar reels for years to come:
Yes, and acquiring a collection of high dollar reels tends to extend
the life of the 33 indefinitely. In twenty years the Zebco will still
look brand new!

Glad to see this thread go in the light hearted direction.
;)I started this thread to be light hearted. I own all the major brands of reels and enjoy each and every one of them. I might even have an Zebco 33, from 40 years ago. The first bait casters that I got from my father was a Shakespeare model 1969, and it still casts good, but I have retired it a long time ago.
Who says we only fish for fish?
Make sure you measure and weigh Hawk before you take the hook out and release him...
Another advantage for ya'll. The 33 can be bought at any major retailer. The curado is usually mail order only... ;D ;D

WRONG ;D
Personally, I think you're all coo-coo. Skip the whole over-rated, over-priced reel ordeal and tie some line right to a stick, super sensative!!!!
Hey another point the zebco can be fished by even a 4yr old....

Or even my fishing partner. : ;D
I believe I caught my first fish on a 202. Only after I proved myself worthy of it did my dad let me use the 33 :-) I imagine a lot of us caught our first fish on something with a Zebco label on it.
With the 33, you can let your wife/girlfriend use it and not worry
about a birdsnest !
BB ;D
Zebco 33 ALL the way! Curados SUCK! All my dobyns have zebco 33's on them!
LOL!!!!!!
you just cant beat the zebco 33 and if you want the worlds best combo put it on an ugly stik
I have used both and can say the Zebco 33 has a great drag.
You won't sit in your boat and cry if you drop a Zebco 33 overboard .
I have caught my two biggest fish on not just a zebco 33, but a zebco 33 COMBO! With the free line! ;D
Got me convinced.
Zebco 33 > Shimano Curado E
LOL, that has got to be one of the best opening posts in BR history! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I caught my first fish on a zebby.i prefer the curado.my lil boy has a 33 classic and wears the perch out every time we go fishing.
