How is the sensitivity of this line? I am used to fishing a worm in 10 ft of water with Flurocarbon Stren 100%. 15lb. Would this line be noticeablely less sensitive if I got 15lb Big Game?

I used to use Big Game all the time before braid. Never had an issue with this line. But if you're trying to compare a flurocarbon to a mono, it's going to be a little less sensitive. Long distances you may loose some feel, but shorter say 25yrd applications I wouldn't think there would be much. Catt fishes this a lot, so you might want to send him a message and ask his opinion.

It's good line for the money but it does not last long, IMHO, and the sensitivity is on par with most other mono.

I'm not a big fan of big game line. Had some unexplained breakage issues with it in the past, so I just don't trust it. It isn't Berkley's premium brand of line. I think that there are better monos out there for similar amounts of money At this point in my life and given the limited amount of fishing time I've had so far this year and what I'm likely to have the rest of the season, I'm going to stick with more mid-range to premium lines. Seaguar Abrazx for the most part for soft bait presentations. I've got limits though. I ain't gonna pop close to $40 per spool for Tatsu, I don't care how good it is. I took the several spools of Big Game that I had left, in various weights and donated it to the local senior citizens arts & crafts classes.
They use it for making mobiles. It excels in that application.

Big game is great. Ive been using it for years. Its very tough, low memory. You wont need 15lb, its underrated. 12lb is what i use and its more than enough. Get the lo vis green

I have big game 25lb mono on a couple river rods thats been on them for almost 2 yrs and have reeled in several cats in the 30+ range and its still strong...for what it is i think its sensitive but you could do better..

I am not saying it is bad line at all. I use to be able to get the 1lb spools at DSG at the beginning of the season for $20 but they no longer carry the big spools. I found that if I went out fished every weekend at my local reservoir for about 6 hours both Saturday and Sunday, the line would last on the two setups I was using about 3-4 weeks. I used either 10lb or 12lb. One set up was for soft plastic and the other for crank baits. The more I casted and used the line the faster it would fall apart. The pic below is what I experienced but it is from another forum.

I have 15# Big Game on one medium BC combo for topwaters and lipless cranks. Since sensitivity is toward the bottom of the scale and it stretches like all mono, it's a decent choice for lures with trebles where you might yank the lure away from the fish. I fish a big reservoir with mostly weeds and very little wood and rock cover so this line can last a while. Just check it after you catch a couple fish. Beyond that I use it for backing for braid on my other combos.
I'm really torn whether I'll use this combo spooled with Big Game for my brand new hard, jointed swimbait.
My buddy uses it almost exclusively on spinning gear. But says he's had a couple big fish break him off in the past week.

In saltwater, I used Berkley Big Game and Ande Tournament line extensively.
Both are wiry lines and both have 'excellent' abrasion-resistance.
In any case, fluorocarbon provides more sensitivity than nylon, no matter who's the manufacturer.

Don't waste your time purchasing that junk. It's so bad that it's pretty much the line I have spooled in my reels since the 80s which also has helped me to catch every single 10 + lber ( which are a "few" ). Not good at all.

15# Big Game has better slack line sensitivity than any braided line does and that means a lot.

That pic reminds me of a bad guide.i use BG and never had a issue with knots,abrasion or longevity. matter of fact i found my brothers surf rod he lost during a hurricane yrs ago on a beach on the cheseapeke bbaythe reel was partly under sand for about a yr.it was frozen,in water out of water heat wind you name it.the line was solar collector 15 lbs part of the spool was faded .aside from the color change it held a knot like it was new and i tried to brake it with my hands it was impossible.all i can say if your having issues with BG its user error or equipment .BTW if you have a kmart store around you u may want to go take a look at the line section i bought 6 spools of BG 12lb green a few weeks ago for 2.24$ each this week they had 20 lb for same price and they also had fire line 10/4 for 4.44.Im checking tommorow to see if they put the 10lb on sale then ill grab them up

The #1 reason I use Big Game is its abrasion resistance!
The slight advantage in sensitivity found in fluorocarbon is offset by its poor abrasion resistance.
Sensitivity depends on who is holding the rod!

15 lb Big Game is what I use fishing deep brush. When I first started using it , I couldnt believe how strong it was . I once hooked a standing tree while fishing from bank . A good sized tree and could not break the line. The tree finally broke . "The Tree Broke." I was reeling in the tree and there were other trees in the cove and it got hung up in them. Once again I could not break the line. Finally the lure comes back . It was a spinnerbait ant the hook broke.
Its not as limber as i would like but it is strong . Like all lines retie often. A line is only as strong as its weakest spot.

It has been a few years since I have used big game but the guides on my rods are fine and I have used several different kinds of line on both of the setups I mentioned since with no issues.

I've fished 250+ days a year in some of the gnarliest cover imaginable with 15# Big Game & I've seen that happen once!
Still landed the fish!
I promise the line in that picture was scrapped against something.

A word on the Fireline. I think they just recently changed their line ratings and increased strength at every diameter. I know they did away with 17# and think they changed the diameter of 20# to what 17 was. So they put the old stuff on sale. Some of the previous line that they referred to as "thermally fused" wasn't fused at all, just chemically treated to stick together. I have some now that I bought in December and I have a pic of just how "un-fused" it is.
But it's still very good stuff and I'm still using it. When I replace it, it'll be with Fireline 20.

I use the stuff around pilings with barnacles never had a break off but it looks worse then that pic after a few hrs each day.like i say never had a issue and i abuse my line

I got a big spool of Big Game 12lb on sale this spring, have been using it this year and I think it's pretty good. last year I used sufix siege 12lb and I think I liked it better than the big game.

Siege is also a good mono. There are a handful of them that are all pretty similar. They are usually the ones that run thicker then usual like Big Game Siege Trilene XL/XT ect.

Good line for sure. I use Izor mono and braid and Seagar flouro for most applications (P Line for some), but always have some big game in my bag when saltwater fishing offshore. I know a few people that swear by this line!

I use sunline sniper on all my spinning and most of my jig and worm set-ups, but everything else I use big game. Without a doubt the best deal on line out there.

I also prefer Sufix Siege to Big Game.
