What is your favorite brand? Lb test etc for flipping wood?
15lb big game
either Big Game or Power Pro. lb. test depends on type of cover.
I will be the first to admit I'm not a flipping or pitching aficionado. But I'm using PowerPro 30# on my jig rod with a 20# Big Game leader. It seems to be doing pretty well. Since those are usually shorter casts I could probably just use straight 15# Big Game mono. But I also use that rod for T rigs sometimes and I like the lighter (limper braid) line for that.
For fluoro, I'm going to be using 20lb. Sunline Sniper or 20 lb. PLine Tactical.

Not to go hijack the thread but how do you like the daiwa j braid x4? I recently got a free spool when I purchased a another fuego ct
For actual flipping, where you grasp the line and pull the bait to swing it to the next spot, I don't like braid. It's too abrasive. Tuf-Line Supercast is coated, and works well, if you prefer no stretch. Otherwise, Seaguar Flippin' fluoro has worked well for me.

Love it. Its a little loud through the guides, which is expected with 4 strand braid, but that doesn't bother me. It ties great knots and has good abrasion resistance for braid. Cuts vegetation well. I use 50lb chartruese, 30Lb light blue, and 15lb dark green . I buy it on ebay and it's pretty cheap for the performance I've gotten out of it.

When spooling fluro for a flipping/pitching reel how do you recommend doing it?

for wood i almost always use floro. sniper 17#. i occasionally like mono, if im skipping. just easier to manage. I do have a flipping rod with braid for grass. but when i get to wood i pick up the floro as it comes thru the wood better. might be just my imagination but i don't like the feel of braid on wood.
spool it about 60% mono, then 30% floro on top, leaving room(filing the spool about 90% full). don't overspool your floro or you'll just be wasting line.
Like @J Francho, Seaguar Flippin' fluoro is doing a great job for me.
I originally used 65lbs braid but it just didn't feel right, if that makes any sense. I flip both boat docks and heavy cover like stump fields and lily pad beds.

There's a bunch of anglers that have expressed a similar preference. It's definitely a "thing." I will say that I also like braid with a leader when not specifically using flip casts. If I end up having my line draped over a a branch, I can feel the knot pass over, and know I have a leader length to go to hop the bait over, and not bury the hook into the wood.

I like that idea...smart thinking!

Yep. Agree 100%. And yet.....last weekend I STILL set the hook on at least five different branches. Some days I swear that bass pick up my jig; give it a slight tug and then stick the point in a stump while they back up and laugh their tails off

I had a blue gill bury the hook into my anchor line this past weekend. What a pain.
Where I fish wood almost always includes reeds and weeds. I have used 60 FIN's PRT braid for sbout 30 years to flip wood without any issues.

Ive tried mono, braid and floro. Settled on 20 or 25lb trilene Xt and big game for flipping and pitching in laydowns, weed edges, docks, undercut banks, and lilly pads. Mono is more manageable for me. No digging in issue. No coiling issue. Strong enough to hoist em out of the cover.
For wood 20lb Seaguar flippin line or Abrazx.

This is me too, for the most part. I've always used 17lb XT but I've begun experimenting with 25lb now and I'm liking it. There are some situations where I prefer Fireline but mono is my overall favorite. 25lb mono and a H/XF rod....heck yeah!
Nice range of answers here. I use 17lb Seaguar Abrazx, I'd move up to 20lb or to the Flippin line if you flip heavy wood.
