P-Line Cx 2025

fishing user avatarCarolinaBoy4Life reply :

Bought some reel's that had P-Line CX copoly with a fluro coating. Been using it for my soft swimbaits and bladed swim jigs. I love the stuff to this point no issues at all. Was thinking of switching over all my setups to this line. Any one else use this stuff?

fishing user avatarCarolinaBoy4Life reply :

I've been using reel magic and line/lure conditioner. Seem's to help negate the memory problem fairly well

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

Almost every rod I own has some kind of p-line on them now and a vast majority are CXX. Memory can get really bad in like a week but kvd works like a champ. It's probably the strongest line you can buy and some of the most sensitive because its so hard. It's also has the least stretch of about any line I have used. You don't really need the same test you would normally run and can go smaller and should side it's thicker then most I think for the same test. Even 12 is very hard to break.

fishing user avatarCarolinaBoy4Life reply :

I think I'm gonna be making the switch to CX/CXX on all my rod's. I'm running the 20LB CXX on my swimbait setups for hudd's and on my other big bait rod for glide baits. I was fishing a Gambler lures EZ swimmer in Tennesse Shad on a weighted swimbait hook this past weekened back in the creek's following the shad and I could literally feel every bump or rock or bottom contact I made with CX

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

Yep it's that's good IMO. I have down sized my lines with it now that rods that ran 20 now have 17 and 25 is 20 ect. It's ridiculously strong and sensitive. I still change my line more then I ever did before even though I use kvd on it. Just buy the big 3k yard spools of whatever they are. I think there like around $70 depending on the size. The savings is huge if you add it up. Buying little spools will eat you up on what you can save.

fishing user avatarroadwarrior reply :

Use to be a favorite until I found Yo-Zuri Hybrid.

P-Line just has too much memory for me, especially

in cold weather. An alternative might be using a braid

for mainline and a long P-Line leader.

I don't care for CX, but I love CXX.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

I used this stuff (CX) for a season a couple yrs back but had knot issues.  Loved the flo purple tint it has to it for senko fishing.  I use polamer & improved clinch knot with no success.  Then went to Seaguar Senshi last year which is even better imo..had same issues.  Maybe it's me.  I've had no breakage issues with InvizX or AbrazX this year just don't like forking out the money.

fishing user avatarCarolinaBoy4Life reply :

I love CXX. It's the first P-Line I used. It's on all my big bait setup's. I spray all my reels down after every use and once a week with reel magic. Then before I go fishing the night before I spray KVD line conditioner on. Seem's to really help with memory. I'm using 12lb CX on most of my reels but will be switching over on all of em. CXX is where it's at for my swimbaits though. It's on all my round reel's and I have not had one issue. Cottny27 I haven't ordered it yet I was going to then the need for another swimbait rig came up so I ordered an Okuma GS XH and a Shimano Cardiff instead. Once I get the new Carbonlite I will post up some info on it and let ya know what I think. I have the gold originals and the black ones and have loved all of em no issues that other's have had with the grinding feeling. I'm hoping the new Carbonlite will be just the same in performance

I would skip the Real Magic.  It's not for reels.  It breaks down line, is flammable, and counteracts the benefits of the KVD L&L.

fishing user avatarAlonerankin2 reply :

I use it a bit, CXX and yo is about all I use. It's great line.

Really? I've always heard it supposed to be good for the line. Here's the description on the BassPro and TW sites..

This outstanding Real Magic Lubricant works to soften, lubricate, and extend the life of your fishing line while reducing line memory and improving your casting distance by protecting and lubricating your reel. Environmentally safe, odorless, and guaranteed not to buildup, this super lubricant also works to reduce icing on rod guides and is great for keeping spinnerbait skirts supple and tangle free. Real Magic works on monofilament, braided, and even fly lines.

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

It will make all your dreams come true. :)

Go up to the L&L site and check out the videos.

fishing user avatarcottny27 reply :

Yes, you will be bathing in the stuff before you know it :)

Good stuff I saturate my line before and after.  I have heard the Reel Magic leaves an oily residue on the surface of the water. Is that true?

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

I used Yo-Zuri for a while and it is a great line. I still have some spools of it and I have some 8# on a spinning rod. It is a excellent line but I think CXX is better in every aspect you can deal with the memory. For me it is the best line I have ever used. I did actually get a spool of Trilene XL but I am not sure if it was smooth cast or armor coated kind in 17#. It was like $2 so why not. I have to say I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers. It didn't have a outrageous amount of stretch and only slightly made that creaking noise when you pull a heavy bait on a long cast and the memory very minimal even though it sat on a reel for around 3 weeks before I ever even used it actually. It is still not better then CXX but it seemed very manageable and casts like a champ.

I think reel magic will actually hurt your line over time and can somehow weaken it maybe depending on the line. You can probably get the same effect by spraying some WD on the line. KVD L&L is on a whole other level and is totally different. I can't believe after all this time though no one has come out with another knock off that actually does the same thing. They copy everything else in fishing....

fishing user avatarJ Francho reply :

L&L is one of the "must haves" for my fishing - like a good set of pliers, a blade, some cold beverage, a camera, and a scale.  I bet I have a dozen bottles in various places - tackle bags, boat compartments, my truck... I know there's three in my junk drawer in the kitchen, lol.  It's a must have if you're using fluoro or copoly.  Tough lines really benefit from it, and it doesn't harm the line.  In fact, I think it helps CXX last longer.  I know it also helps braid hold it's color longer.

fishing user avatarAlonerankin2 reply :

Well that did it! I'm going to buy the L&L today & try it... Like I said in another thread, it must be superior, so many fisherman talk on it.. Gotta try it now!

fishing user avatarCarolinaBoy4Life reply :

I appreciate the feedback guy's. Guess I'll stop using the real magic and stick with KVD L&L. I will need to re-up on some new bottles though I'm running low. How do you guy's generally apply it? I've been just spraying it on the reel and letting it soak in the night before. Seem's to work just find

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

I wish I could buy it in gallon size of something to refill little bottles. I lost a bottle about a month ago way back in some woods at place in the middle of nowhere and spent like 45 mins walking back and forth looking for it cause I didn't have any more with me. It was a brand new bottle on top of that. I never found it and it is still out there somewhere and maybe I can find one of these times if I go back.

That works just fine you can even apply it on the spot if you really want to and it still makes a huge difference.

I pretreat the filler spools before I even put it on the reel.  As a general rule, I put it on all the reels after fishing.  It works best if it dries on the line.

fishing user avatarFishes in trees reply :

I've had nothing but bad luck with P line, in whatever forms it comes in.  Even when it gets to $2 a spool at Walmart, I won't buy it.  I curse that stuff.  If it works out for you, great.

fishing user avatarmad basser reply :

I have not tried the 100 percent fluro but I tried all other p-line and I did not like any of it it has more stretch than any line I have ever use I don't understand how everyone likes it so much

fishing user avatarhatrix reply :

You have tried every kind of p-line and it has the most stretch of any line? I am pretty sure you are mistaken and when talking about CXX I am not sure there is a other line with less stretch even made. But to each there own and that's just more for me.

X2 on this

fishing user avatarprimetime reply :

It has memory like all coplys, but stretch is not an issue on P-line cxx or fluro's from the times I use it.....It is a good line for sure and you don't need to go as heaavy as you normally would....15 cxx and I am confident I am landing any fish as long as I am not flipping or puching heavy cover.
