Where is this reel? Why dont they have it yet? They need to get the ball rolling.
Is there a G50 Curado?
Hootie
What would the 50G be? With the Curado 50e, the Chronarch 50e, Core 50mg7,and the older Chronarch 50mg seems like they have it covered.
Currently they have the Core and Chronarch, but no Curado. The Curado is a new model, so we need a new 50.
It would be a 50G for $159 instead of $199.

How about an aluminum version of the Core, we call it the Chronarch 50G, we then take the now Chronarch 50e and call it the Curado 50g. Man this all seems strangely familar.
Ya, the cutbacks required to get the Chronarch 50 to the Curado price point would eliminate most if not all the advantages the 50 size offers over the 200.
First of all, the Chronarch is an E model, so you would be going backwards to make that the Curado G, do your homework, but I see your point. My point is if we can get the new G model in a 50 series for $169.95.On 10/30/2012 at 1:54 AM, aavery2 said:How about an aluminum version of the Core, we call it the Chronarch 50G, we then take the now Chronarch 50e and call it the Curado 50g. I'm very familar with Chronarch E, and going backwards does not seem to be an issue with Shimano, seeing as we are now fishing a Curado 50, and Curado 200 E, both now with Chronarch badgeing, it is you who needs to open your eyes, and stop drinking the cool- aid.
I knew this was going to happen with you non Shimano fishers. Lets say it together, G comes after E, so since the Chronarch was on E, thats the platform used, thats what we ended up with. If you knew Shimanos history with using similar platforms, you would understand. Fish a Chronarch E vs Curado E, and you WILL notice a difference. Until then, I will drink my Kool Aid and fish my Shimanos till the day I die.On 10/30/2012 at 2:17 AM, aavery2 said:I'm very familar with Chronarch E, and going backwards does not seem to be an issue with Shimano, seeing as we are now fishing a Curado 50, and Curado 200 E, both now with Chronarch badgeing, it is you who needs to open your eyes, and stop drinking the cool- aid.

Assumuptions will get you in trouble. ........
Yes I have fished the older Chronarchs, Cores, and Curados. I have sold those off recently. I know what you are saying when you say TRUE Chronarchs etc. Im not going to argue that there were better or not, for me they werent due to the feel. Were they smooth as hell, yes. Since then, we have moved forward, or backward depending on your views. The new ones being a better profile for my little fat fingers, is why I dont care about the past reels, and sold them all for the newer models. I get your point, and even if you are a Shimano fisher, then you would see what Im trying to say about a new G model Curado 50.On 10/30/2012 at 2:34 AM, aavery2 said:Assumuptions will get you in trouble. I see and read the many posts you make about Shimano reels, and I have no doubt that you are a true fan of the reel, but what you lack is eductation and experience. You are a guy who obviously has never had the pleasure of fishing a true Chronarch reel, or a Core or Calais for that matter. I know this because if you had, you would be just as disapointed with the Chronarch E immitation as the rest of the knowledgeable Shimano fans. See an anodized spool and handle are a far far cry from what the Chronarch once was, and it is an emabarrasment to this Shimano fan to listen to you parrot out the company line dribble instead of speak from a strong background of experience with the Shimano line of products.
Next time you label someone, take your own advice and do your homework.
Cool, I understand your view, but I will digress and ask you what the 50G would be. To bring it in at the price point you suggested, it would have to be more similar to a Citica in features, or possibly even a composite framed reel. There you go, the Caenan 50G.
I don't see it happening. Since the E series, they've billed the form factor as a 200 size reel in a 100 size package. I don't recall any Curado 50 size reels that predated E series. The Curado 50e was sort of a "weirdo" in the line.
Yeah, but if they could take the new G style and mold it to a 50 size, keeping the Curado G price point, I think they could sell. Even if like aavery says to be more like the Citica. I think if they could keep the Curado 200 at that price, they can think of something to have a cheaper option for a compact reel other than the Chronarch and Core.

Wouldn't you just rather spend 30 more dollars and get a chronarch.....
No. I have two. I want a 50G to add to the collection. Even when the Es were available, people still bought them. I see your point though. On 10/30/2012 at 4:53 AM, iabass8 said:Wouldn't you just rather spend 30 more dollars and get a chronarch.....

Sometimes I write things I wish I could take back. This is one of those times, fishing reels are not worth getting bent out of shape over. I could have made my point without offending anyone, and wish I had.

sometimes you just have to put someone in there place and speak the truth.
Simmer down now...
The Posse shouldn't be targeting each other.

Geez, lets all just have some wine and cheese, lol. Aavery its cool, all in good fun. Hope the mods dont shut us down, lol.
I wish shimano made muzzles :-)
In 2013 or 2014 I would expect shimano to shake things up again. Maybe a few more higher end reels to fill the void left by the chronarch d quality. Wouldn't be surprised if the core got a face lift and a few internal changes. I could see them possibly adding a 50 size curado and citica. That would bring the total number of 50 sized reels in the low profile style up to four. The differences would lie in reel weight, refinement, quality, external finish, etc...
Personally I don't mind the current line up with the addition of a good quality reel between the core and chronarch in that $250-$300 price point.

I'd say they probably said uh oh, we fudged up with the G model. Let's save face and just ride it out but don't put anymore money into this one. There won't be a 50G. If there is, I'll gladly admit I was wrong.
I am starting to come around some though. The Curado and Citica G reels do feel like very nice reels in hand when you can't compare them to the E models.
It would still be a cluster &^$#! Some would like muzzle E more than muzzle G...................................On 10/30/2012 at 8:43 AM, Diggy said:I wish shimano made muzzles :-)

All I know is that the store where I buy most of my reels still has 13 or 14 Curado 50 reels left. I hope to get one or two more of them before they are all gone. Now that I think of it, I've got to get one of those Curado 300EJ reels. Those are supposed to be the bomb for swim bait/ A-rig fishing. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a Calais or a Calcutta 200 TEGT on sale. Stranger things have happened.
All this idle talk/thought about Shimano reels has gotten me woozy. I need to go wash my mouth out with beer and not think about it for a while.

Then again you could always get one of these providing you do not have a problem with round reels.........
Ive seen those, they look bad ****! I know they are more compact. One day I will have to find one and try it out. I hear they are great reels, wait its a Shimano, duh.On 10/30/2012 at 10:11 PM, Maico1 said:Then again you could always get one of these providing you do not have a problem with round reels.........
Rogers Lures in Liberty, Mo has the Curado 50 E reel for $160. I don't know if they have a 51 or not. Last time I checked, (several weeks ago) they had around a dozen in stock. Where they are at today, I don't know. As far as the other reels go, I was just dreaming, maybe actively dreaming, because I've walked into dream reel deals in the past.
I think Rogers has a web site, but I don't know. I know they have a phone #. Call them up and ask them, they are good people and I'm sure they would be reasonable on shipping.

That was a Calais DC.....You will have to try this one "Antares HG" the next time I see you...It is reel sweet....

I don't think you will ever see a Curado G50. The G series aren't in the same league as the E. All honest Shimano fans know and acknowledge that the new G series is a major downgrade. Not enough quality in the Malaysian Curado to handle the high tech world of the 50
Ok, what is the big advantage of the 50? Just casting lighter lures? What else?

They're not overly wide like the 200E's LOL

The 50 series of reels by Shimano, the Sol and Pixy by Daiwa, The MGX to a degree by ABU are all just tools. Just like the many other reels you have, they all excel at different things. It just so happens that these reels are good to great tools for casting sub 1/4 ounce weights. You say "Just casting lighter lures" like it is a small thing. In fact the materials and technology used to create baitcasting reels that are capable of performing this task on a repeatable basis are expensive and timely to machine and manufacture.
So like you said, they are great at casting lighter weights and maybe thats enough.
