Im very interested in this one.. I wonder if its a composite frame? $119 Now we know why the Citica I is priced as such, because this reel is going to occupy its former price category.
I love Shimano but that reel does not look very pretty lol......
So it looks like this will be on par with the previous citicas, while shimano again shuffles up their line up. Kinda like when they rebadged the curado as a chronarch, and lowered the price on the curado. My guess is they're trying to make a reel priced for everyone. For $119 I don't think it would be a composite frame atleast I would hope it's not.
It's also hard to tell what color ot is it almost looks like the green on the G series curado. There might be a filter on that picture though.
I don't understand is shimano doing....3 reels in the 120-180$ price range...

the design looks to be a crOSS between the aldebaran and curado.. I like it! Seeing the weight leaves me to think it has a composite frame.
The Castaic and now the Casitas. Wonderful!

well, at least the casitas is a 150-size reel, versus the 200-size of the curado/citica. now, lew's, on the hand, has a gazillion reels in the same price range

And they all use the same frame and side plates lol..
Should Toledo Bend, Shimano is living in the past!On 7/16/2015 at 2:20 AM, deep said:The Castaic and now the Casitas. Wonderful!

Curious to see the reviews on this. I was hoping to see a smaller curado.

A 100 or 50 sized Curado I? *INSERTS "Shut up and take my money .gif"*
What is the weight on this reel?
Should be lightweight. It says composite frame.
6.7 ounces. it's already up on the TW website. expected availability: july 30th.
An intriguing offering especially at that price point. From what I see on TW doesn't have xship though, but lots of good reels don't. I wonder if its aluminum and the weight savings are a result of smaller frame, smaller spool, and less bearings?
No xship, and I'm surprised it has svs infinty at this price point
I love my shimano reels but this one seems kind of pointless. We will see. Maybe it will have it's place.
Now that I think about it they almost had to leave xship out as well as a couple of bearings. Otherwise it's too similar to the Chronarch CI4+ at a much better price point. And this is from a guy with 3 Chronarch CI4+ reels.

Even with Xship and a couple more bearings the performance would lie in the spool weight. I highly doubt this new reel will have a spool lighter than even the Curado/Citica I. I could be totally wrong though and this thing could be a sleeper like the Citica G was.
TT just stated it has a composite frame. Disappointing seeing as the competition at its price point have mostly aluminum frames.

Hmmm they say it's composite, but not stating CI4+ material, very curious. Makes me think that it's maybe just a full graphite frame like the Saros. Just have to see how it performs once people start getting them. I personally love the 150 size for anything other then dedicated cranking duty.
Both shimano and lews have come out with a composite frame at this price point and seemingly in direct opposition to their current lines...
Interesting to say the least
$119 for a composite framed reel? At least that ruins my temptation to buy one.
Graphite is a no-go for me. Yes, even if it's a Shimano.
Maybe there's more to the "composite frame" though.
Might buy one when they hit Ebay. Best price you'll find I'm sure. If it's sub $100 on Ebay I'll get one for the heck of it. Might surprise!
119$ for a composite reel? No way Jose. Almost all reels above 100$ have solid aluminum frames expect for shimano. Kinda disappointed as they now don't have a aluminum reel anywhere close to 100$.

Very curious as well, has potential to be a high value performer.
