Lamiglas Infinity Bass 2025

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

anyone own one of these? i noticed it was outdoor lifes editors choice last year and has greatcreviews on tw. not sure i wana spend that much at the moment but may consider it a sale or two down the road. was just wondering if anyone owns one and what are your thoughts

fishing user avatarBigMoneyGrip reply :

I have the 735 and love it. I have a Core 51 on it and it is a great combination. I use it for all of my plastics and some jigs. Using 15lbs InvizX, I can feel just about everything thats going on.

It was a great purchase for me.

fishing user avatarsarcazmo reply :

Very curious about these rods as well.

Their ratings look to be different than other rods, might have to grab one whenever the next 20% off sale is.

fishing user avatarBig Fish Rice reply :

I own the Infinity 735C and 724C. Let's just say if you're the type of angler that likes top of the line gear, this would be your choice. I use the 735 for jigs as well. The 724 for smaller plastics and hula grubs.

Lamiglas' rating example: 735C = 7'3" rod, with 5 being the power

2=Light

3-Medium

4=Medium Heavy

5=Heavy

6=Extra Heavy

This VPR rating is actually no longer in the catalog. They don't even have a rating above "6" any longer. When speaking of Lamiglas ratings, a lot of people don't understand that they can be a little light when it comes to "power" if they're used to fishing Shimano, St. Croix, etc. It's not wrong the way Lamiglas uses their powers...I actually think Lamiglas holds true on their ratings (all across the board since they are a major manufacturer of multi-species). Fly, Salmon & Steelhead, Bass, etc.

I gave the ratings above based on my experience because I have fished with so many different rods, I'm trying to give an accurate picture to someone who might not know what to choose if they haven't fished with Lami rods.

That's all! But yes..this was their official chart. Here is the current catalog:

dan, thanks for the update and correction. my lami's were under the old system and i didn't realize their power rating system was changed.

You're still right in the sense, but with the new models, just posting what I think...the problem is, I always like going heavier lol. I love broomsticks :)

Just got my first two in the mail the other night. I bought the 736C and the 705 Glass (for cranks). Lightweight and balance really nice.

For texas rigs, I would personally go with the 705 because I like a little more backbone. There's no questioning the sensitivity..I think you'll be pleased. The details on the rod like the wraps are clean too. I'll be able to update you even more after this weekend!

Will do...I'll follow up here with you.

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

awesome thanks man!

fishing user avatarBig Fish Rice reply :

Alright, fished with both! The 736C is a beast. Has a lot of backbone and the sensitivity is good. I think that since it is a "6" power, I lose a bit with it being a fairly stiff rod. I think the "5" power would be better suited for jigs and texas rigs overall. This "6" would be a great swim jig rod though, as well as a flipping/pitching rod.

THe Excell IIs are very light, balanced and just plain great quality. I'm very happy with both models. Haven't used many glass rods over the years, but I did catch a smallie on a square bill with the 705 Excell II Glass and it felt awesome. More of a parabolic bend throughout the entire rod. Should be great for DT6's and DT10s.

For $99, it's a big yes from me.

fishing user avatar21farms reply :

hey dan, have you ever fished the SR705R or the XCF-705R? if so, i was wondering how the excel2 705 glass rods compare? when i handled the first-gen excel 705 glass in the store, the taper and power sure felt a lot like the skeet reese cranking rod.

fishing user avatarrobster80 reply :

nice! thanks for the feedback. im more curious about em now. gotta decide which one. i could use another glass rod

Do you have any experience with the infinity vs the other 'higher end' rods?  Loomis, Zbone, etc?  How do the stack up sensitivity wise?  Balance wise?

The infinity 7'2" medium seems to suit the widest variety of techniques I do.

Have you used both spinning and casting?

Also, are you sponsored by lamiglas?

Ive seen some comments on a few places it was near or on point with their NRX. If thats the case, its a heck of a rod for 279.

I dont need another rod, I still havent fished my airrus x entity yet... But I'll probably be grabbing one of these and an airrus nano fusion during the next big sale.

fishing user avatarBigMoneyGrip reply :

Speaking of sensitivity, I have the Infinity 735. After a long cast with a Zoom Swimmin Super Fluke Jr, I can feel the paddle tail swimming. I'd say thats pretty sensitive. This is with 15lbs InvizX.

Bait monkey got me with the 15% sale on the 735c. Opted for next day fedex. I'm ready to feel the fishes inhale the bait, fart next to my jig and all that jargon I hear on this site. I cant wait to caress the bottom contours of my favorite lakes with jigs and soft plastics.

This is officially the most expensive rod I own. NRX rep sample, you're up nextbabylawd.png

Not sure how I'm missing responses...but yes, I have several friends who are G-Loomis only. Of course, those guys don't switch for anything, but two of them have fished with my Infinity and were impressed. But the Infinity series is most definitely compared to the NRX "feel" if you know what I mean. When you pick up the rod, you just get that feeling. The balance, the quality of components, it's at the top of the line without a doubt.

Thing is, both the NRX and Infinity are made with the same 3M resin. The Infinity also has a counterbalanced handle, not a split grip like the NRX. That's the biggest "feeling" difference in my opinion. As of right now, I only have casting models for the Infinity lineup.

To answer your second question, Lamiglas is my rod sponsor. I've been working with them over the past few years and approached them as they are a local company. I not only own their Infinity, but also the XPs, Excel IIs and even an X-11 Salmon/Steelhead rod that I fish swimbaits on.

Past experience would be fishing with Shimano, G-Loomis, Abu Garcia, St. Croix, Phenix, Lew's and other rods. For the money and your investment, there is no better value than the Infinity [in my opinion]. I wish I could send you one to fish with for a week or two...the lineup speaks for itself.

Should be here tonight. I'll throw one of the curados or tatulas on it and it's a party. Is your preference braid or fluoro?

Neither the Lamiglas, nor the NRX, are still made using the 3m resin. It was purchased by Jarden, the owners of Pure Fishing. The resin has zero effect on the rod's feel anyway, it just provides strength.

Neither are made with "Powerlux" any longer, correct. But it doesn't mean that past stock that was manufactured with it aren't still available. I do recall that Powerlux was purchased by Jarden...

When I fished with both models, they were manufactured with 3M Powerlux, alongside Cabela's Platinum line. Just speaking of when I had hands on experience...but you are correct.
