I went to BPS today and bought a E21 CLTX761H-F-C for 89.77. I hope it was a good deal. Everyone at the store thinks so. I didn't have much money so I paired it with a Browning Citori baitcast reel 6.4:1 for 69.94 and got myself some Suffix 832 50lb. Going to try this stuff out as well. Hopefully everything will go well with no problems. I'll be using it for frogging.
For those that use Carrot stix and use to them was this a good buy? and should I like it?? I've gotten use to the bed rep they got and almost strayed away till the clerk told me about the explosion rods had letters CLPX. The good news if does break I'll just take it back and trade for something else.
I have 3 of the old golds and really like them. I had an LTX but hated the length I got. I've never had any breaking issues with them. I think it's well worth the price you payed
I own 4 with no problems over the past 3 years. It looks like you found a 2009 clearanced LTX that sold for $149.99, so yeah you got a good deal.
Cool and thanks. How well will it be for lilies and frogging?
If you're throwing 1/2+ oz frogs, it will preform well for you. I use my 7'6" for flippin.
I have that exact rod with 50lb PP and a Citica. I was throwing frogs (Spro, Scum, Rage Shad/Toad) with no issues. A great C-Rig and jig rod as well. Caught my PB LM and a 5.09lb SM on it plus a ton of snags, no breakage issues either.
I have the spinning version that I use mostly for shakeyheads... The first one broke within minutes, but I have had no issues with the replacement and I like it ok. I use a different frog rod, but I would not hesitate to get a carrot stix for the job. I think the parabolic bend would come in handy for frog hooksets.
I broke 3 out of 4 in the last 7 months. All have been replaced. Keep the receipt and register the rod with E21 online or by mail. I do like the sensativity of the rods.
Hmm...
You must have a lot of patience.
8-)
I bought a 6'9 a few years ago and used it very hard! It finally broke on me. With all the comments and stories I've heard I was expecting it to happen sometime. I really like the sensitivity and weight of the rod. Thing is, its hard to find a rod with that price with the sensitivity of 150 dollar rod. I kept the mind set that, if it breaks, its under warranty. The guy I buy from alot will let me go in a trade it for a new one the same day (but he's done this with any product I've ever had a problem with) So, its not much of an issue with me. I've bought 3 more and recommend them all the time.
Unless unknowingly using a rod that has been
compromised, I can't imagine myself fishing with
equipment that is know to fail. This will break
your heart if the fish of a lifetime is on the end
of your line!

If you are not sure you would like it, why did you buy it?
My Bass Pro Shops has discontinued them. That tells me they aren't to happy with them either...... But they are sensative.
I thought being on clearance it would be a good deal and never know might turn out to be a good rod. Some seem to have no problems with theirs at all. I thought I would take a chance.QuoteQuoteI went to BPS today and bought a E21 CLTX761H-F-C for 89.77. I hope it was a good deal. Everyone at the store thinks so. Between myself and 4 buddies we own 19. Have had them since they first came out, zero breakage or issues. All were bought the same year they came out so they are the good ones I guess. ;D
And I still love them.

And that's what I'm hoping for that I got one of the good ones! Can't wait to find out soon.

I sure hope your not right. my heart would be broken. lol
I bought the 6' 9" MH when they first came out and wasn't impressed. I kept fishing with it since I'd spent the money on it and it broke a couple weeks ago when I tried to sweep a RES off the bottom on a lift drop retrieve. No damage, nothing but the resistance of the lure pulling the rod, just folded in half. They want $50 to send it in and shipping is another 20. They're discontinued around here for $79, I'm going to save my money for a rod that doesn't have the bad reputation they seem to have.
I have two as well- no breakage issues yet and fairly sensitive.
I have a 7'9" extra heavy that I use for jigs and frogs. I like it so far. had it for about 6 mos with no breakage yet.
buddy of mine had a gold carrot stick... i was in the boat when the thing snapped in half... on a cast!
personally i would've gone with the nitro that was on sale, but different strokes for different folks i guess.
I have two a 6'6 and 7'2. The 6'6 I have had no issues with. The 7'2 broke beneath the reel seat when I was holding it to lift a fish. I love the sensitivity, but I will not be purchasing another.
I bought one of the first rods that came to the states. I've used it maybe 3 times. Now it sits in the spare rack in the garage.
Don't let someone on a message board tell you whether or not you should like a piece of equipment you already have. You already have the rod...use it...then decide whether or not you like it not.

An excellent piece of advice.
