Both my MH and my M Veritas have spots where the clear coat is peeling off. They haven't been beaten or banged around, and I keep rod sleeves on them. Just seems like I can't win with these d**n rods. BPS won't take care of my MH, but my M they say I will have to bring in the store to determine what they will do. At this point, I'd prefer a refund but if I HAVE to get another then I will at least be glad BPS tried to help me out. Gonna contact Abu CS and see what they will do with my MH. It's not a huge deal, but I know it's gonna continue to flake off and for $100 that just flat out shouldn't happen.
Call Pure Fishing in the AM. They are pretty good about helping people out.
I've had my 7' M Micro guide for about a year now. Heavy use and just started using rod socks a couple months ago. Mine lookd fine. No pealing that I can see
I don't know what the deal is. Like I said, I keep them in rod sleeves, and in the house and I don't beat them up in the boat. If anything, I baby the crap outta my gear. I usually give them a good wipe down with some KVD LnL when I respray the guides, but I doubt that stuff is eating the coating off.
The Abu gods have chosen you as their project to see whet the breaking point of a man is lol
My first thought was high humidity, but if that was the case, we would see more of a problem with it.
I have read that peeling coats and falling out guide rings have been the more complaints about the veritas models
The guide issue is what has plagued me the most, but now I've got 2 rods with laser straight guides and now the d**n clear coat is chipping off. The Veritas is the nicest piece of junk rod I've ever owned. If BPS will refund it, I'm gonna nab another ***. No clear coat to peel off on those.
I beat the hell out of mine I have some chips in the clear coat but its not peeling or flaking and it's only near the hook keeper. I did crush a line guide I contacted AG they were quick to email me saying to send pics of the receipt I gave them all they asked for still waiting for a reply.
I bought one Veritas from TW. When I got it the clear coat had chipping on it. Sent it back and will never buy one again until they fix their quality issues. I love the feel of the rod and I am sure it fishes great, but for me $100 is not pocket change that I can throw around. I need something that will survive. I would go with the *** as well. They seem to have great reviews and don't seem to have quality problems like the Veritas. Hope you can get something out of it. Good luck.
I've got one thats chipping all over the place, especially near the fore grip for whatever reason... doesn't really bother me though.
I've had no problems with my Veritas and it's been a year. I even got it on a clearance deal at a local shop last season at half the price. Of course now that I said something, something will happen.

Tell them the receipt looks fine. The problem is the rod....lol
Hootie
I think mine has some spots here and there, best believe I will get a new one once it gets to the point I don't want to tolerate it any more. I also have peeling on the black plastic reel seat coating. Ive been using the rod for almost a year and a half now, heavy duty, from bream to snakeheads. I cant really complain. Its been put through the rigors of Florida weather, sloppy canals and year round fishing.
The anodizing is fading on mine but that will happen on anything it's just from grimy hands. All my old paintball guns anodizing faded where I held it.
I have one, used to have 2. The clear coat was peeling on the one I got rid of, but that was because a guide broke so they exchanged it. Now the other one is peeling as well, just waiting for a guide to break
Gonna go today when BPS opens and see what they do. I might get a Duckett Micro Magic if they will give me a store credit, or if I get a refund I will go with an ***. I'm tired of these POS rods. The fish great, but there's just no excuse for the QC issues Abu has with this rod. Someone on here posted a pic of their Veritas they got directly from Abu as a replacement, and the guides were laughably misaligned. It's a great rod when you can get one that's not messed up, but when is that??

I know it's gonna kill you to do it, but look at the Crucials and Mojo's before you leave
I havent had any issues with my veritas

I actually broke the tip off of my veritas cranking rod. While castinga and i called abu and complained and emphasized that i expected better quality from Abu Garcia. The lady was nice put in my claim, gave me pure fishings email address and told me what info and photos to send. I received an email within the hour and a new rod within 5 days.
I would call them and let them know are still waiting and that your complaint was not even answered.
Not long after i recieved my new veritas, i sold it to a buddy.... i like the rod, but not enough to spend alot of time worrying over it.
Abu makes good equipment, but i really think they cut alot of corners with the Veritas.

I hope you can work it out to pick up the Duckett. I have been nothing but impressed mine. I got the 7'3" MH/F and will be getting a 6'6" M in a short while.
Good luck!
I had a spot I scratched that is peeling some clear coat... My fault I'd say, but the epoxy for the guides are turning yellow. It's getting kind of old now, so I'll just use it til it breaks and get something that won't have these problems
I could see this happening IF I beat up my rods, but I baby my gear and keep them in rod sleeves and in my house. There's pretty much no reason why this has happened. It's not around the hook keeper either, which is where you would think the first sign of trouble would be. It's on the side of the rod where it says "Veritas" so it's fairly high up on the rod. We are going to dinner here in a few, so I'm gonna take it along and see what BPS does. Keep you posted. Here is a pic of the spot. Notice directly above the peeling area, you can see little nicks where peeling will soon occur.

You seem to be having zero luck with any Abu Garcia product. I would be emailing Pure Fishing with all of your rod and reel issues, and tell them to fix it. They seem to have great customer service, and may throw you some lures or something for your troubles.
Got another Veritas, but this one seems to be a revised version. This one has 3 Triple footed guides where all of my others only had the first guide triple footed. It looks good but of course I get it home and notice the tip guide is between 12 And 1 O'clock lol. Probably heat it up and fix it Myself. What a POS these are lol. Here's a pic of the new guides, or what I think are new guides. There is definitely 2 versions of the Veritas micro series out there.
I hadnt even caught a fish yet with my first veritas when the top of the plastic part of the reel seat on the handle broke off, sending the rod flying while the reel was still in my hand. Contacted purefishing about it and sent pics and receipt and received my new rod in less than a week. I made sure the guides were completely straight on the first rod before i purchased it, and my replacement as well before i used it. Now after catching several fish with my new one i have had no problems as of yet. I absolutely love the way this rod feels and its extremely sensitive, just hope it holds up!
I have one little spot about halfway up the rod on mine, so far it hasnt affected the rod as far as I can see...
My rods aren't very old. One was purchased in March, was fished 3 times, and somehow the coating was peeling. It doesnt affect performance but for $100 I expect better. Especially when I have crappy shakespeare excursion rods that still look new after years of use.
