I purchased a Powell inferno in the fall and now I own 4.... We'll I own 4 at the moment,I will be purchasing more. Best bang for you buck,the rod is extremely light and sensitive. Best rod I've owned easily, it's not a 100$ throw away rod that's for sure, you won't regret purchasing one. And did I mention Powells warnty process and customer services? Oh we'll it's execpetion. Powell truly did a great job, no complaints.

Gloomis gl2,flacon bu coo,duckett micro magic and a st.croix mojo bass and I have to say the inferno out performed all of those rods I listed, I'm making the switch to Powell and I will start using Powell rods and only Powell rods.

Umm k. Powell makes some good sticks. The guides and graphics on the Inferno don't trip my trigger at all. Keith said some new rods are coming soon.

With a lews tournemnt mg the combo looks pretty sleek together but I can see how the graphics don't apel to everyone's taste.

I'd be more interested if they had decent guides. Not a huge fan of the look, but I can get past that. The guides are a deal breaker for me. Kind of interested to see what Powell comes up with next though.

Good deal, when you find a rod that works for you it is awesome and sometimes it is a rod that isn't all that expensive. I have used and own a fair amout of higher end rods, including a G.Loomis GL3, 2 G. Loomis IMXs, a G.Loomis Jerkbait series rod, and a G.Loomis CR series GLX along with 2 custom rods and a St, Croix Avid. I also owned and sold 2 G.Loomis cranking rods, a Kistler Helium LTA and a St. Croix Legend Elite and all were good rods but it was the Fenwick ET smallmouth rods and the Aetos that really did it for me. What I mean by "it" is they have the sensitivity I like, the comfort, action and even the look, it is a rod that really had everything I wanted at a price that was, what I feel, is incredible affordable for what I was getting. Everyone has their own "it" and it can come at any price point, and it is awesome you found "it", congrats on finding your favorite rod.

What do you like about the Powell better than some of the rods you previously owned. What is it about the Inferno that does it for you. Most of the rods you listed are in the entry level of serious fishing rods, have you had the opportunity to experience any rods towards the middle to upper end.

I have trouble biting on the Inferno when it is possible to get new Max and Endurance rods for $20 more.
I'm sure I'd try one at $100, but I have a hard time believing that it's smoking any competition at $129.99.

Powells $30 for a rod warranty program needs to be factored in the price and the low end guides are an issue.
If you like Powell rods, then it's a good rod.

Anyway, if you like the inferno, try out the powell endurance. It can be had for $150. Better blank, much better guides, higher quality and only a bit more in price.

Ah how sweet to be 14 and to be able to enjoy life with such ease, I look back today and realize how much larger the PLANTET is today,,, the good thing is you will have many more settups in time to bring you the same joy!! Congrats on your new #1 settup now go nail some big ole bass!!

Congrats Powell makes some good stuff. I hope you catch a lot of Bass on the new fishing rod. When you are able you should add an extra $20 and buy a Powell Endurance. If you really like the Inferno that much then the Endurance will = MIND BLOWN.

Me too! From Loomis to Dobyns to Legend Elites. I love what Fenwick is doing right now. Got a few of the Elite Tech Smallmouth rods and since my first one, I have been averaging one of the new HMG's a week and watching the other rods go away. That is the best $100 rod on the market right now!

Flo bassin, if you look around, you can find Endurance rods for 150. That's a twenty dollar bill and light years better than the inferno. I bought one when they first came out and to me its no better than other rods in the 100 dollar price point. The inferno is a good rod, but for your money you are better off finding Powell Max for 130

The Powell Inferno and the Duckett Ghost are pretty much the same rod except for the Color and the cork / foam handles.

Yes, the parts are. But I think Powell uses their own graphite pre peg, where I'm sure Duckett is using a typical blank any rod builder can purchase

I've been meaning to get one..but I haven't decided yet if I want my next rod to be a NRX or HMG. I have other stuff on my wish list so depending on which I buy, I either shorten or just knock 1 thing off my list.

Fenwick makes some nice rods in the 100 to 150 price range. But I would think if you buy the HMG as good as it is,,,,it's still nowhere near the over $400.00 NRX, and not even reasonable to compare the two. I know if I was torn between the two and got the HMG I am sure I would not get the NRX out of my mind and wouldn't rest well. It would just prolong the wait for the NRX???just say'n

Yeah you are probably right. I'm so scared of buying my first NRX because as soon as I bought my first GLX I had to get 3 more. That is why I have put it off to make the NRX jump
