What are some rods you love that get no publicity? It seems with so many offerings a lot of really nice gear flies under the radar.
I love Falcon Cara rods. Very light and sensitive American made rods for $200. In fact I like it better than some of my more expensive rods. You just never hear anything about them.
I bought a used combo last year, my first baitcaster. It was a 2 piece 6'10" MH-XF Shimano Compre with a Daiwa Tatula reel. Really just wanted the reel but figured what the hell. Even after I bought it I wasn't sure about the rod. After a few outings and a few dozen fish, I really like it but it does not get very good reviews, not sure why. Not my favorite rod (that's for my st Croix avid x) , but its pretty sensitive and will be keeping it. Goes to show you, you have to try it for yourself before you judge it.
I flip with a 7'3 heavy Duckett Ghost. Absolutely love it, and for the low price you don't hear too much about em
Love my falcon Bucoo sr, daiwa fuego, and denali rosewood
I was gonna say Falcon and Denali too. Doesn't seem like you hear much about ALX rods either.
Gen 1 Quantum Smoke 7' M/F casting rod. Ive yet to find another rod as light with better balance same power with very good sensitivity at any price. Its also been very durable with 7 years use as my most used rod.
Quantum rods, lews mach2 rods, falcon bucoos, shimano exage all are great.
I have a skeet reese cranking rod and i gotta admit i love it

Nobody seems to talk about Quantum anything. Except for KVD and Jordan Lee..
ALX Zolo and my old black/gold Tatula rod. Both fish well above their price points.
Okuma TCS, super nice rods and you can find them for around $100 all day if you look a little bit.
Ive got some gen 1 villains I really like....light and sensitive. The reel seat looks a little weird and flexes... but its comfy. Tackle Tour is definitely giving the 2.0 version some love.
Powell Inferno, yes I've read all the negative reviews & don't believe most of em. After 8 months & dozens of 6-9 lb bass (see below) in heavy cover I've had zero issues.
Academy's H2O Xpress Ethos & All Star's Team series get high marks
In my area, All Star is a sleeper. Now we have an Academy near us, and they carry them. Falcon is good too,but maybe not quite as popular as some others. Both nice rods. Also Shimano makes nice rods, but most guys around here only use their reels, on some other rod brand.

I like Duckett Rods great rods very strong sensitive. I’ve been fishing a ghost since 2014 the rod has never given me any issues still one of my favorites.

Powell rods are beasts!
Abu Garcia Ike series rods, no one talks about them. They look great, can't speak on sensitivity as mine is a cranking rod, awesome reel seat, its nicely balanced, it's relatively light as I never get tired using it. The handle length is great, the foam is nice. The guides aren't the best but they're tough as nails. I'd be interested in a the Power series but I never see reviews on them.
Fenwick Eagle, Denali AttaX and Powell Nuisance. Great rods for their price points, especially the Fenwick.
Fenwick Techna AV
Phenix M1 and X 11 composite
Allstar ASR
Mike
G. Loomis GL3s. Especially the SJR700 model. a gem of a rod. with a mag light power and extra fast taper.
I really like falcon. I have a few lowriders, a cara t7 and a buccoo sr and they're all really good sticks. I have a digit after 7 blackout I bought cuz I needed a cheap rod fast and even with all the horrible reviews my expectations have far been exceeded.
I love my Fenwicks. Not as big a name as some others.
Quantum Cranking Rods and Fenwick EliteTech Smallmouth rods. ~
Both sticks have accounted for some very respectable fish for me.
A-Jay
Falcon Jason Christie 6'8'MH casting. This is my go to rod for river Smallies.
Gen 1 Abu Villian I have a 6'9"ML spinning thats awesome for tubes, small jerkbaits.
I think the original Tatula rods get a lot of love. Falcon doesn't get mentioned much, but they are another rod that is loved by many. Shimano, Dobyns, GLoomis all get plenty of love. Many Abu rods are well liked, but the one mentioned below hardly ever appears in a thread.
Rods that get very little publicity....to name a few.
ALX
Okuma
Major Craft
Villain 2.0
Ike
Fenwick
Hurricane Redbone
Quantum
Powell
Phenix
Fenwick seldom gets mentioned since dropping the Smallmouth series. A great rod for the money. The Aetos ain't shabby. The Techna AV was another excellent rod that got dropped. The handle on my Smoke is shorter than I like and I'm not thrilled about where the hook keeper is, but it is a very good rod otherwise. I have a couple Tour Editions and Superlites that I like a lot. How often do you hear of them? Love my Redbone. Thank you Sirsnookalot for recommending them. Recent poster had never even heard of this rod. Love my Helios.
Seems like there are a lot of decent rods out there that seldom get mentioned on the forums.
Does anyone use Cashion rods? I use them for CB, square bills, jerkbaits, and top water. They are great rods and I never hear anyone mention them
Insert inappropriate jokes now! Great rod that gets no love...bahahahahah

they look like great rods, just not widely available. How do you like the grips?
I will have to throw in my BPS Carbonlites and they are mentioned alright, but it seems to be all bad. I am up to ten now and started trying them in 2010, adding 2-3 each year to the present and all came on sale. With all the wailing about breaking in half, line guides falling off and line guide eyes falling out, I can honestly say I have never had a problem with mine and believe me I would not have tolerated it with all the other rods to choose from. The Potomac massive grass beds are not kind to rods.
My Cajun Custom Rods Delta is the best rod I have ever fished in the 200-250 price point. Its good enough to keep me from looking for much else and just add more of them as needed. They don't have a huge selection of lengths or actions but I for one don't need technique specific everything. I do need a good rod that is sensitive, durable, not super fast in action, and made with quality components.
This rod checks all of those boxes.
Irod Fiber. Feel like it should be mentioned more in the $100 rod debates. It's smoked every $90-$120 rod I've used. Though I haven't used the Fury which seems to be THE rod in that price point.

This one was the first that came in to my mind when i read the title! It´s one awesome rod, super light and very sensitive. I often pair mine with my Aldebaran, the entire combo weights +- 8oz... super fun to fish with!
Falcon Lowrider. I own a couple $100+ rods. The Falcon is far superior to the other.
Falcon is a sleeper for sure, ive had a couple and they are great
Falcon and Fenwick both don’t get enough recognition. A surprisingly good one is Cabela’s Rods. Their ZX tournament series is probably one of the best Rods in the $100 segment
Okuma Helios. Light, sensitive, well constructed. If it didn't have that Minima reel seat, it would be perfect.
Very few bass rods today are made in the USA, most are assembled in the USA using off shore blanks, all use off shore components like guides, handles, reel seats etc.
Saint Croix higher end rods, G. Loomis higher end rods and Lamiglas higher end rods have blanks made in their factories. Lamiglas Infinity series bass rods are state of the art rods that get very little coverage. My ALX custom rods use Lamiglas blanks* for example.
Tom
* Lamiglas used 3M Nano resin for the original blanks that Pure Fishing now owns and that has impacted bass rod offering.

I believe Cashion Rods are made here in the USA. Not 100% sure on that so don't hold me to it

I really like them. Took a little getting used to but they are nice. Super sensitive rods
I picked up a Berkley series one rod last year, heavy action, I believe it’s about 7’3”. Super nice action, light weight rod for pitching. I’ve had a number of Berkley rods over the years and enjoyed them all. Still have a couple 7’ Hank Parker series lightning rods in the mix, great rods for burning heavy spinnerbaits for Great Lakes smallies.
Another vote here for AllStar.
old timer here...back in the day all star rods were the rod on sites like bill dance ...times change but still a great rod...
good fishing....

Definitely. I got their frog rod on sale for $80, and it's great. Love the grips on it, too. Sadly, I think they're being discontinued.
My late fishing partner Fred used Cashion crankbait rods and Loomis swimbait, jig and worm rods. The Cashion rods are good, light weight with carbon composite handles that take some time to get use to. Not sure where they get their rod blanks? Cousins is another west coast rod maker popular with salt water anglers and gaining popularity with bass anglers. My guess is the blanks are made off shore because nearly impossible to lay up blanks cost effective in California with all the regulations.

Yea I’m thinking about picking one up for that reason, even though I don’t need one by any means haha

A few weeks back, they didn't even have the ZX rods listed anymore on their site. My local Cabela's was getting thinned out, too. But I just looked, and now they have them back on their site, so who knows?

I have one of those after 7 rods and it is one of my favorite rods to throw finesse jigs on. Usually don't leave home without it

That's the other $100 rod I have and it's good. Mine could probably be better, but I have the frog model. It could double as a pool cue.

I think they updated the models because they had them $20 off for a while before they went MIA.

I have owned a few Falcon rods and love them. I have a Cara now and it is by far one of my favorite rods in my arsenal. Love the Lowrider series as well. It seems to me that Falcon gets slept on for some reason. Great rods built in The U.S. of A. and very affordable for what you get.
Very little talk and virtually no retailers...at least in the north...for Temple fork Outfiters.
Great rods, priced well. I tripped over them years ago at Sierra Trading Post, bought three because they were crazy inexpensive ( <$50! ) and I was going to use them as back-ups and loaners...and when they got here, I said "Holy cow, these are nice rods!" and have been using them ever since.
Honestly, I try to use lower cost rods as I fish from the shore and in creeks. I value toughness, but still want some sensitivity. My rods range from Shimano, Abu, Castaway, Daiwa, Deep South and Lews. They all serve their purpose, but the Aird X is possibly my favorite. It's so light and sensitive that I can drop a cast wherever I want it. Right now it has a Spartacus on it. The Deep South Elite Tubes spinning rod I have is strong and sensitive, I'm a fan.
JDM Fenwick’s
Okuma makes a heckuva swimbait rod. I also like Lamiglas as well. Growing up on the west coast in the saltwater I really wish the Seeker Rod company would make a line of freshwater rods. Their saltwater sticks are amazing.
I had a medium Falcon Lowrider rod I bought about 10 years ago. I caught many a river largemouth on Christmas tree Swim Senkos swimming it by lay downs.
It was my favorite rod, I think I paid around $100 for it, and it was stolen last year. Thief broke the lock off the boat’s rod locker.

What do you mean by updated? The ones back on the site are still called ZX Tournament and look the same??

There may not be anything new that you can see about them on the site. But they went on sale at the end of the year. Some of them were sold out. They came off the site and now there they are, regular price. Either way, they're good rods. My 7'3" frog rod is the lightest rod I own. Granted, I don't own any $200 rods. The Falcon LowRider is still better a better rod though.
Love my Vexan 7'4 froggin rod. You can pull a truck out a ditch with this rod yet its very sensitive. Best $120 rod out there in my opinion. Very few people have ever heard of them, but worth checking out (not associated with them in any way just love the product).
BPS Extreme with the Power Hump grip. 6'6" MH. My first "nice" rod bought many years ago. Always meant to get more but never did and now they are gone. Not particularly refined but I have yet to find anything I can't do with it. It's been my frog rod, my "finesse" rod, my cranking rod, and for awhile anyway, my ONLY rod. Today it does d**n fine duty as my spinner bait rod and shows no sign of slowing down. Love it and wish I had 10 of them. It served emergency duty today as my topwater rod, too. The day it breaks will be a sad day indeed for me. I should add that it also has my first PQ on it, too. A reel that works better now, 10 years later, than it did new and that's after doing all the duties I mention above and being broke a couple of times. Clean it, repair it, lube it, abuse it. It takes it and smiles

I have the same rod that has been abused for 15 years now. Still use it today mainly for spinnerbaits. It’s my beater that I throw in the back of the truck and my go to pond hopper. All around great versatile rod

The Fenwick AETOS is one of my favorite spinning rods I've ever owned. Super light and the skeleton seat is a great fit.
The Cabelas fish eagle is another way under rated cheap rod. I have a few of the older generations before they went to micro guides on the casting line and they are the most versatile rod you can buy. They lean more towards moderate action and I've thrown weightless plastics to cranks with great results. When I fish deep in the woods and only bring 1 rod, it's a fish eagle. I'd check out the ZX if I didn't already love the FE.
Quantum EXO Tour Casting 6’10”. Great rod.
The Fenwick Elite Tech Rods. I have abused the two I have and they have been great.

Great rods, but I'm not sure you could say they dont get any love. I hear them praised quite s bit... a lot of dudes were dismayed when they discontinued them.

I have this thing about using something different than everyone else, so I made a blind buy on an Ark Rods Invoker. I'm glad I did. I've since acquired at least one from each series, except the Sniper lineup. I love the feel and finish.
Another rod I have that I love is the Daiwa Aird. Feels so much better than a $50 rod. I use mine as a topwater rod, so I can't speak on sensitivity, but it does exactly what I need it to dom.
Anything that's not St. Croix, G Loomis or Dobyns.
But all seriousness my list is:
Kistler Magnesium 2 (See lots about the KLX and Helium 3)
Denali Kovert and Kovert Lite
Phenix M1
Enigma Aarons Edge
Falcon Bucco
Okuma TCS
Lamiglass, Okuma. BPS Tourney specials have been serviceable and reliable. I just picked up a used American Rodsmith and Ozark rod at an estate sale. They are 6 ft but easy to use in a kayak. MH and sensitive for bottom contact plastics. For sheer toughness, get an Ugly stick. I really like Ugly Stick spinning rods.
