I thought I ordered a 894c but it came in the new unreleased 6 piece model care of Fedex. Soon I'll have my second NRX, hopefully this one will be a one piece fishable version
Handle was broken into many pieces. It doesn't look like I be feeling the vibrations from fish farts and all that other fancy jazz you guys talk about for a few more weeks. I still have to experience this for myself!
And to think folks pay bank for crappy shipping..
That's a shame! Hope you get you're NRX before Christmas!
I feel your pain. I bought a megabass black jungle which broke five guides down from the tip first time I used it. Broke when a smallmouth hit my jerkbait. Crap does happen.
Ouch, I'd snap.
I have had numerous issues with fed ex... Can't stand them
I'm sure the wait will be worth it. Post a review after fishing the rod awhile.
Yikes! I hope the replacement gets to you soon.
I have ordered more than 40 rods so far and haven't had a problem..............but I guess someday my time will come...
Wish more people shipped rods in pvc tubes. After about 30+ rods ive bought, atleast 5 showed up broken....

That doesn't guarantee anything. Only broken rod I ever received was shipped in a PVC tube. Seller swears in had plastic end caps on both ends. When postman delivered it, one end had nothing in it. Rod slipped right out of tube. Had several inches missing from the tip. Either the seller didn't wrap anything around the rod for added protection, or whoever took the end cap off also removed it because the bare rod was all that was in the tube. This from a Daiwa representative so I have to assume he knew the proper way to pack a rod.
EDIT: I received another rod where someone must have been curious as to what was in the tube as the only protection on one end was a piece of clear packing tape. Lucky for me the rod was ok.
I know pvc doesnt guarantee an unbroken rod, but if the endcaps are put on correctly, you have a way better chance of getting your rod in one piece.
Fish farts are the best. And to think- I used to fish for the bite! What a fool I was. Farts are where it's at, man.
PVC is so heavy and expensive compared to cardboard. I use PVC to ship and have to charge accordingly but I can see how shipping thousands of rods that way would add up to more than the occasional replacement.
I've had a 100% failure rate when shipping in cardboard. I figured id save some money and reuse those hewvy walled tubes that St Croix ships their blanks in. I was soooo wrong. PVC only for me from now on.

The game has evolved
Ouch, I hope they get you a new rod real soon.
I can't beleive that from fedex, they usually take real good care of the broken stuff they deliver to me.
Now you have the worlds best ice rod.
I'm sure you are like me. I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas when a rod is on the way. That would be a real heartbreaker.
I know places that ship a lot of rods have to take a calculated risk and ship economically. It's a numbers game, and they are competing with retail, as well as other mail order businesses. But an NRX, thrown in a cheap tube, not totally mummified in bubble wrap? I buy cheap, fiberglass, catfish rods that are made to take a beating, and they are shipped in PVC, with bubble wrap around the entire rod so that they are snug in the tube. I pay a premium, and they are hell to unwrap, but it's reassuring knowing they will likely arrive okay.
Probably better that it arrived totally jacked, and not just jacked enough for you to get all the way out on the water, and break it catching a fish or something.
A little duct tape could fix that
Sorry to hear this. I know your pain though. Made a trade on here for a rod I really wanted and when it showed up at usps it was broke. Luckily that's the only time it's happened. Anything ups or fedex I've been lucky with so far.
Where I work our shipping department sends out parts in 7' and 8' cardboard rod tubes and they are as hard as bat. They are rated to withstand approx. 500lbs of pressure. We have a hard time cutting them with a circular saw. They are capped with sheet metal steel. As far as I know, they have never had one come back crushed or damaged. These tubes only cost a few cents more than the cheaper light weight ones. I don't understand why rod makers don't use them.
One things for sure, I would be pulling my last few hairs out if I received that rod from FedEx. I hope you are able to get a replacement soon.
tackle warehouse does a great job at shipping rods
UPS is who I have issues with. Broke my Irod a few months ago. I'll take Fed Ex over ups any day
Its really hit or miss, i shipped and & recieved broken rods from usps, ups, and fedex.
I dislike fedex the most because they accused me of not shipping correctly and refused to cover it. I try to use usps as much as possible. If the rod is short enough, priority mail is the cheapest & fastest.
I have shipped and received many rods, well over a 100, from individuals to Manufacturers, only once have I had a problem and that was because the guy shipped the rod loose with about 4 or 6" of excess tube for it to bounce around in, he gave me my money back when I sent it back, as for fedex, usps, ups you name it, the closest I came to having a broken rod other than that one instance was a G. Loomis, 12 or 15 years ago before they became Shimano, and the Cardboard tube was crushed, it was about the bottom 12" or so of the tube with the plastic cap stapled in. The rod was perfect, I don't know how as it looked like it was drove over, but that was the only time I had one look like there was going to be a problem. I must say I have never gotten a rod in as light a tube as the one in the picture appears to be, and hardly ever use PVC, really don't see the need when you use the proper cardboard tube. Hope you get it taken care of ASAP!!!! Then let us know what them fish farts smell like???????
Thanks yall. I should have a replacement next week, opted for the Blue version this time, hopefully I'll get to fish it. This was the 1st thing Ive had damaged from fedex, but UPS used to perform fatalities on my replacements from ABU
