I purchased a fuego lt spinning reel and paired it with a dobyns champ extreme hp 742. The reel balances the rod out very nicely. The fuego seems very well built and the drag seems to run nice. The reel is smooth when retrieving. I really like the larger bail wire they use. I spoiled the reel with 8lb sunline super sniper floro. I don't have this issue with shimano but man does this reel put the wind knots in ur line. Not sure if it's a design flaw or i just got a bad one but the reel constantly spools the line below where it's supposed to be. And no there is no spacer washer in the reel. It will reel fine for about 5 casts then bam.
Are you closing the bail by hand after making a cast?
When you spooled the line are you sure you spooled it on the reel correctly?
Sounds like line twist to me

Ya it's spoiled on there right and yes always close bail by hand. It's just amazing how quick it puts in line twist and how much line slap I get on that reel
That reel does not have bearings in the line roller. If it doesn't spin properly, it'll knot up your line in a hurry.
Are you sure yours didn't come with winding spacers. They're white. After being a Shimano fan boy forever I tried one. I got the 3000 for some heavy spinning work and it seems as smooth as my CI4+ FA's. No line management issues either.
Nope sure didn't first thing I looked for as I'm a shimano man myself should have never strayed
Dsqui,
Fluorocarbon likes to fly off of the reel especially when newly spooled. It also causes line "slap" because it is stiff and bangs off of the rod between the first guide and spool. Is there any chance you might have overfilled the reel? I very seldom fish much spinning. I have tried using straight fluorocarbon on my spinning reels with similar results regarding the line slap and coils falling off of the reel when the bail is open. I found by feathering the line at end of the cast through my fingers I could keep the line from "unspooling" at the end of a cast.
Maybe try some line conditioner? Or switch to a good mono or braid with a fluorocarbon leader. I feel your pain.

The reel issue seems more like a line problem and may have been spooled incorrectly onto the reel.
With FC you want to put the filler spool on a mandrel to it spinsand the line comes off the bottom of the spool, not the top.
7 lb Super Sniper has less memory then 8 lb as it is close to .001 smaller. All FC needs line conditioner used as a main line.
If you have a boat run the line behind the boat without anything tied on at walking speed for a few minutes to untwist it, the while the boat is moving wind the line back on. This removes any twist and will be spooled correctly.
If the line problem continues the reel is the problem.

The line was spoiled correctly and line conditioner was added while spoiling and also before my trip I'm very anal about my spinning reels.

I have this exact same set up on a shimano with no issues it'gotta be the reel
Do not blame the diawa reel on these forums, you will be flamed. Should be called diawaresource.com lol. Im kidding.
On the serious side, dont stray from shimano for spinning. Diawa makes a d**n fine casting reel but their spinning reels arent up to par yet
Easy solution...Don't put Fluro on spinning reels. I don't. I just do not like how it behaves on a spinning setup.
I've yet to meet an 8# fluoro the behaves on a spinning reel. Seaguar 7.2 Finesse is pretty good. So are Tatsu and Invisx in 6# size.
7lb Super Sniper works well on medium sized reels, but it isn't great on 1000 sized ones.
Spoiled not spooled?....Maybe you spoiled your line and that is the issue. HeeHee
I agree with Toxic and J Franco. Flouro is not the best on spinning reels regardless of brand. Use braid with Flouro leader or some good quality mono.

HONESTLY

6# diameter is a whole 'nother story. Buy good fluoro, and you won't be disappointed. I just respooled a reel with 6# Tatsu. The old Tatsu was four years old, and still just fine, just getting low on the spool.

I stick to light braid and a long flouro leader. Works perfectly fine for my needs
I like that set up in weeds, and in a more horizontal appraoch, but for deep drops in clear water, straight fluoro works best for me.
Can't argue with results
When trying out a light reel (size 500 - 1000) for the first time I buy a pony spool of Berkley Trilene XL 4#- 6# and fill it with that.
The pony spool is 110 yards of line which is just enough line not to overfill the spool. It avoids line jumping off the spool, wind knots and line getting under the spool.
When I switch to fluorocarbon I prefer a hybrid over straight fluoro. It tends to behave better.
FC Sniper is probably too stiff. Flouro and spinning reels can be tricky sometimes. I just stick to braid.

Mail the old line to me! I wanna try it on a 1000 sized Ci4+ but I don’t want to spend thirty five bucks to see if it works
I'd go with 4# on a 1000 size.
i use 4 pound test Sufix Siege on 1000 size shimano spinning reels and its awesome.

I don’t know if I have the stones to go that light. I am trying to avoid using braid/leader on one of my
finesse combos but I really like tiny spinning reels so I suspect I’m just banging my head against the wall.

Sufix rates their lines one size lighter. Seige 4lb. is most manufacturer's 6. Speaks well of the product that it manages well for you. Good abrasion resistance, too.
