Counterfeit Seaguar Invizix? 2024

fishing user avatarFishTank reply :

I purchased a 1000 yard spool of 12lb Seaguar Invizx from Amazon and it does not look like what I have purchased in the past. It doesn't look like it is spooled  very well and there is no Seaquar silver sticker.  Also, there is no level wind logo on the front.  The line seems like it's FC but it's hard to tell for sure. Can any of you guys tell if this is fake?

It was shipped and sold by Amazon.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Hmm, I would assume it's good but I have the exact same spool of line and same lb test at home and it looks much nicer than that. It's wound perfectly and had the seaguar sticker on the spool.

fishing user avatarSam reply :

Probably not counterfeit but another type of line to fool you.

Check out how reputable the seller is with the understanding that relatives and friends make the good posts for the sellers.

And maybe the seller decided to sell the line after he removed the sticker and he did not like how it felt.

You can also contact Seaguar and ask them.

Hope you did not get ripped off.

Don't know what that is - but it looks like a mess.

A little more that 1/2 price - perhaps too good to be true

I'd be returning that one ASAP.

Amazon routinely offers bulk spool pricing on quality line (all types) that is seriously below most Anything out there.

Been taking advantage of this for a while and the incident documented here is the first time I've seen or heard of something along these lines.

I do agree that E-Bay is also a fantastic source of supply where many killer deals can be found on all sorts of gear.

But you may not want to totally write of the Amazon thing completely.

(and the two-day shipping is pretty sweet !)

Yea, I have given up on Amazon at this point.  So so much bootleg stuff and they let sellers get away with refusing returns.  PayPal is still heavily  weighted towards the buyer and it's super easy to return stuff or get a refund.

**** Update ~  Timing is everything !

I JUST received (like 2 minutes ago) 3 spools of Tatsu purchased from "Poor Fish" at Amazon.

Totally Bogus !  No factory seal - all 3 're-spooled' - complete mess.

Already boxed for return & refund along with a nice little note to Amazon & the seller.

Going to need a different source of supply for my bulk spool line needs.

Fairly disappointed but not surprised.

And Yes - PayPal is the way to go for your internet shopping needs.

I ordered fishing line from amazon a few time. One time I got line that been obviously used, the lebel got poked in the middle and no sealed. Just a week ago I order what supposed to be 4lb bulk spoool but I got 6lb instead. The manufacturer label obviously show 6lb but UPC sticker for 4lb go figure.

I think a lot of ppl that work for amazon distribution centers are fisherman, I also ordered Senko Kit a few years back and I got what was unsealed box with all the 4” Senko missing.

Lucky Amazon customer service is top notch, everything had been resolved pretty quick.

When I purchased the spool it was $67 and was listed as new.  After contacting Amazon and getting a refund, they have changed the listing and deleted my review.  They also let me keep the spool.

I have tried to contact Seaguar and have had no luck.  I got nowhere with the 800 number I was able to dig up and I also emailed them but no response.  I tried a few obvious things..... I cut a piece to see if it sinks or floats> It sinks immediately. I tried burning a small piece> Supposedly if it is real FC, it will not drip when it is set on fire.  I also compared it to a 200 yard spool and line looks different but I am not really sure how to describe it.

Here is another weird thing......  This is a pic from Tackle Warehouses website.  It looks sort of like what I received.

The line I got & returned was from 'Poor Fish' a vendor on Amazon, it was clearly 'REPACKAGE' something - I don't know what - nor do I care.

But IT WAS NOT FACTORY SEALED like every spool I've purchased in the past - regardless or where.

So there's that.

It's awful that people would do this. Do not buy line unless it's from a dealer. If the deal looks too good to pass up usually theres a reason. Pay a little more and pay from a true dealer.

Thinking the same. This isn't Invizx as it's not levelwound but the best thing to do is to compare it and contact the seller and Amazon.

fishing user avatarArcs&sparks reply :

Judging by OP’s pic and the tackle warehouse pic, which don’t sport the level wind logo, they must make a spool that’s not levelwound..

Thanks! Good to hear as I wound up ordering some stuff from them. I used paypal just in case.

Been looking for some line for my new swimbait combo and couldn't make up my mind. Wound up ordering a couple of options and some treble hooks to upgrade some lipless baits. They do have a 20% off code HOLIDAY for regular priced items if you need some fillers to get free or cheaper priority shipping.

Guess I'll make up my mind which line I'll use when they get here.

As far as the original topic of the thread. I would have also questioned and returned that spool of line. I tend to only buy items on Amazon that are sold and shipped by Amazon. Sometimes I'll deviate and purchase items that are fulfilled by Amazon and sold by another seller.

There's no "level wind" logo next to the bar code. Some have it and some don't. I don't know if there's a different UPC.

fishing user avatarOnthePotomac reply :

There are bulk spools which are not level wound, but with on line shopping you cannot see what is coming.  I lucked out and my 1000 yd spool of 15lb  Invizx from Amazon was level wound and came with a heavy plastic snap on shield over the line.  I have purchased countless items from them for the boat.  My wife lives out of Amazon and their return policy is incredible and when you go on line for a return label you can tell them why it is coming back.  I slap the label on the box, call UPS and they zip by and pick it up.  Real easy to return.

+1 with A-Jay , that can't be factory line from Seaguar as it looks like it was wound on from a small powered line winder ... *From the sister company "See-Gar" in China , this line only used once in the Yellow River for Perch fishing . All kidding aside , Amazon has been known to be bitten by semi - shady suppliers . As large as Amazon is and as fast as they are growing - It's difficult for them to vet all suppliers 100% .

I believe I received some counterfeit Seaguar Invisix. How can I tell? I ordered it from Amazon. The spool has a label but no level wind logo and there is no silver seaguar logo line tape holder like my old spool.

Here is their response

Thank you for informing us about your concern regarding the change in spooling of the 1000yd Seaguar fluorocarbon fishing line.  Please rest assured that this change has not affected the performance or quality of the Seaguar fishing line that you know from us.  Before making this change, we conducted numerous tests across several different fishing applications that resulted with no issues in overall quality.  The strength, abrasion resistance, softness, castability, stretch, and line memory are all intact.

Thank you for support in Seaguar.

Sounds like I got the real thing but they chose to change the packaging and level winding the line.

I got the same email from Seaguar - had gone to spam - after seeing this one I went to check it and it was there.

I had re-ordered 2 ea 200yds spools of 25lb and another 1000yd spool of 20 lb from TW during the clearance sale last month.  The 25lb spools arrived in the factory sealed box I'm accustomed to.  The 1000yd spool of 20lb was also in a factory sealed 'package' BUT was NOT on the spool in the "Level wind" condition every previously ordered bulk spool I ordered was.

Either way, seems it's the same line.

Wonder why they stopped level winding it ?

Odd thing is, when I first received it and asked Amazon for a refund, which they gave me, I never received any info on what to do with the spool I had so I called them.  After being on hold with someone for about 15 min. so they could talk to a supervisor, they said to keep it.   Two weeks go by and another spool showed up that I did not order.  I called and they said it was to replace the one I had that was bad but it was exactly the same as the first.  I asked if I was being charged and they said no it was an exchange.  I then told them I had already received a refund for the original.  They said keep it, no charge.  So now I have two spools for nothing.  Fake, not leveled wind, or even the real thing, I got two 1000 yard spools of line for free.  I have no complaints.

I suspect it's cheaper to not lay the line on level but I do kinda believe that it doesn't do much other then look cool.

Sold and shipped by Amazon should be legit. But there’s always the possibility of a return getting reshipped. Trust me, direct from the manufacturer, I got “brand new” used broken washer and dryer pedestals ordered direct from Samsung.com, and they were the newest ones they had.
