I would probably use mono then to get you by. You can buy the cheapest braid available, but it's going to be crappy line. I think the cheapest braid I have seen is Cajun Line.

Power pro super slick is 20$ - 25$ depending on the store/sales but it is well worth the money and if taken care of can last awhile before getting replaced...

Normal power pro is $13 at Walmart. Use cheap mono backing and it's enough for 3 reels.

Don't waste your money on anything below regular Power Pro. I tried to use a couple different cheap braids and it's nothing but headaches and heartaches.

Braid isn't that expensive when it can last you well over 2 seasons or more. Use backing and learn to tie knots that you don't have long tag ends. I'll echo the Power Pro statement. Cabelas has it on sale as well as Suffix 832. 150 yd spool will fill two bait casters for you easily with proper backing.

I've used PowerPro for 2 seasons now and it works just fine. It does "lighten" in color but you can just move it from one reel to the next burying the lighter end.

look for some sales and buy it then. one thing to consider is how much of that lb test you really need.... power pro comes in 100, 150, 300 and bulk spools so just get the amount of line you actually need for that lb test.... personally i don't think there is a big enough difference between the super slick and regular power pro so i'm not spending the extra $$$ on the super slick, but that's just my opinion.... ulitmately you get what you pay for and for those who have a quality rod/reel/lure but cheap out on the line, you're asking to lose fish....

Yeah when I first started using power pro and it began to fade I got worried that it may be getting to old and losing strength but that's not the case....

They only thing I will say is that I've used smaller diameter braid and I didn't like the tendency to dig into my spool. It seems the larger diameter braid doesn't do it as much. And yes, I put tension on the braid when I spool it up.

That makes sense since you are constantly taking line off aggresively when you cast.Now that I think about it, the line dig issue was more with lighter plastics that I was pitching.

Go on ebay. I buy almost all of my braid there now. I've been getting sufix 832 for $12-13 a spool (150yds), brand new.

Power pro is expensive and horrible line. Mono backing? That's just plain crazy!

100 yard spool of performance braid is 11 bucks. That's plenty of line for one reel with some mono backing. it's actually my favorite braid.

You can also take a bigger sharpie, cut out a V in the tip and use it to touch up line if it bothers you with the fading.....

I didn't have very good luck with vanish either, same with trilene 100%. But that's for another thread.
There is a spool of 832 30# on ebay right now for $16.99. That's a pretty good deal considering what time of year it is. If you want cheap line, stock up in the late fall when small stores are doing closeouts on ebay, and the middle of winter as demand drops.
I had two bad spools of original PP in a row early this spring which pretty much put me off PP for good. I tried 832 and will never go back. Its worth the extra couple dollars a spool to get the good stuff IMO.

Regular PowerPro is cheap and they're very good, i had mine for 2 years now and not a single problem. You can find em at your local walmart for less than $15

How is it working? I bought some Zebco braid a couple of years ago, haven't had any problem with 20# on one of my cuda set ups, it's slightly thicker.
I'm sure it's possible to get a bad spool of any kind of line, I can't recall it happening to me. I've used a number of brands of braided lines, PP is my most used because of the convenience and price. I don't see enough difference from 1 brand to another for me to take to issue. I do the same thing that everyone does, cast and retrieve except most my target species are different. I use 15 and 20# braid, if I'm having no problems landing 40 or 50 and have caught bigger tarpon I'm sure not going to have any problem bass fishing with the same line.

Its been perfect so far. It runs up to #50 from what I've seen in store. I bought some #40. Its in orange so its easy to see if you need to watch your line for any reason. It actually runs in the same diameters as Power Pro, the omniflex was thicker in diameter than power pro was and you get 150 yards of US Braid rather than 130 of the Omniflex. Worth a try, its definitely priced to move and made in 'Merica
