I LOVE my Chronarchs. Caught a lot of nice fish with them and have 0 issues out of the 3 I own. Been looking at the Curado I but online and at my local BPS they are always out of stock. Has anyone fished with both of these that can give me a heads up on how the compare with each other?
My Curado i's are much smoother and quieter than the Chronarch's. Have three of each and they are both great reels but I like the Curado i more.

How is the casting distance?
Casting all the way around is much more refined, and controlled ( curado I ) but the E is a very good caster too... If you need a reel now... You can find the I online... But if the E is on discount / slashed... Pick one up... Then grab a curado I later.... The 50/51E's are slick little reels too...
So many choices, so little money!!! I have a few greenies, white, silver, they are all great reels!
I'm not a good judge of distance so someone else could probably better answer that question. Also being mostly a shoreline fishermen, my casts are seldom more than 10 or 15 yards.

the curado i IMO casts like a dream. and long effortless casts. itll give u all the distance u need. i love this reel
Chronarch E and Curado E are very similar. The curado E was the best curado made IMO. Its is also the last made in japan quality curado made, so i prefer the chronarch E.

He's talking about the new curado, which could be the best curado made to date

I know he is talking about the new curado, that's why I said I prefer the chronarch E.
Way to much weight is put on the Japan made reels over the newer Malaysian reels. There was a lot of complaining on the SustainFG's and StradicsFJ's also, I think anyone who has owned both would take the new reels over the old Japan made reels in a heart beat,,,,,,key word "OWNED BOTH!!" I believe the same will hold true for the new Curado I !!
I would happily tell you if I'd been able to purchase a lefty Curado I at any point between February and now.
So if you like to reel Southpaw, Chronarch E.

everybody has their own preference. I prefer superior quality made in USA and Japan gear, I prefer quality heavy duty gear versus lightweight made in Malaysia or china gear. Its just my preference, I am not saying that the new curados are bad, because they are good reels. I will eventually get over it because sadly everything now a days is made in china or over sea, but if i have an old usa or japan made gear, i will hold on to it. Because just like the good old saying says ( they dont make em like that anymore )

QUOTE: [lol i just believe that stradic FJ is the best spinning reel shimano makes. (In that price range) but the verano reel is a Daiwa reel. but to be honest, I am a Quantum/penn freak. i only use reels that never let me down. so those are the only brands i use]
But I agree with your post last week, the FJ is the best made spinning reel in its price bracket!!

LOL, i know that quantum is made in china but that's why i said that i will get over it, and some penn reels are still made in usa. i'm still a quantum and penn freak. im just waiting for Ardent reels to get better so i can start only st.croix/G.loomis rods with Ardent reels.

Ardent's are made in China.

Not anymore.
I own the Curado E, the Chronarch E and the Curado I all in the 6 gear ratio and the Curado I eats them both for lunch. It is not even a comparison. The "I" is smoother, casts further and has a better stock drag. Both my Curado and Chronarchs are supertuned with ABEC 5 bearings and they still are not on the same level. The Curado I series is pretty d**n nice and I would recommend them to anyone.

I guess made in china reels are the new norm. I have a few of made in USA reels that will never leave my treasure box.
To each his own bias, fact or fantasy. I bought a JDM Shimano Biomaster spinning reel a few years ago and was appalled when it arrived with a "Made in Malaysia" sticker. What the heck? Big bucks for a Japanese Shimano and it's made in a 3rd world country!? I've used it for 5 yrs and it's smooth as butter, good as new, so my bias turned out to be pretty stupid. The fact is a great reel can be built anywhere if the factory uses the right machines, the right design, good quality controls, and a dedicated workforce. So you have to take it on a reel by reel basis. A lot of good reels these days are being built in Malaysia and Korea. China I ain't so sure about!
60 yrs ago, you wouldn't dream of buying Japanese versus American if you wanted quality. Times changed and they are still changing. Get used to it.

To my knowledge, there are currently zero reels made in the USA.

Lefty Curado i's available at American Legacy Fishing.

Question: The Chronarch E series has a connected feel, its smooth but you still feel it working in a good way. Where as my Sustain FG, its smooth as hell and thats all you feel. I'm guessing thats X Ship and does the Curado I feel like that? Smooth without any connection to the reel itself?
Our BPS says they should have some in on Friday so I'm gonna swing by and see what all the fuss is about. I'm a lefty so hopefully they have some of those. Gonna be hard to take the plunge on an I when my chronys have been so good to me and I actually know how to service them lol.

Good point, I havent seen anyone yet post wether the Chronarch Ci4 or Curado I are difficult to service.

This is what a few have said about the reason they don't like the hollow empty feel of the Lew's, and how the connected feeling of the ------reel they are using made them prefer those reel's, same goes with the new Sustain, Curado, probably Stradic Ci4+, if you don't like reels this smooth, stick with the older models, or you could always add a little sand??? or fill them with axle grease???? Seriously maybe this is bad to a few, I personally think it is the answer Shimano needed to make after the introduction of the "G". Now they give what most want, a reel so smooth you can hardly feel there is anything there,,,,,,and now we have those that liked the "not as smooth" feeling of the older reels??? I for one, think they made reel I quit using, in favor of better smoother reels, a reel I am willing to use again. Some people just like reels this smooth I guess.
I think Shimano made a statement, they told the consumer ok, you made us what we are today, and if this is what you want, here it is,,,,,,,the ball is in your court how did we do?? I for one think they did what most of us wanted, and I expect the Curado I to put that model back where it was before the "G" time will tell!!!

I wouldn't say difficult, but the new Curado isn't as super simple as the prior versions (E especially).

I must be the only one, but my 2 G series Curados have been working great for me. They feel right where they should be between the Citica G and the Chronarch E. I have had no problems with them. But I agree Shimano needed to up the ante, that price range is highly competitive.
