got a shock rod today med action 6ft 6in for the price (40$) not a bad rod at all i like it
Great rods, I use them. Strong backbone, and they have great sensitivity.
Same here.
I also have two, 6'6" M and a 7' MH casting both are really great rods for $40.00........ I seriously doubt you can find a nicer rod for that price, congrats!
I agree, been using Lightning Rods for a long time. Have 4. Great Value.
I just think the handle is a bit uncomfortable but other than that it's great I had one that I used for a year then sold it to a friend
You won't find any better in that price range!
Good rod but I find the handle a little on the small side, needs to be a little thicker.
I use one for a frog rod and love it
I ordered one from Tackle Warehouse. Seemed like a pretty good rod for the price.
However, on the 2nd trip with it, it snapped (splintered) right in the middle of the rod, in the middle of a cast of a frog. Just splintered, then kind of folded back to straight. It felt funny and the frog kind of crumpled in front of the boat. I was stunned!
Called TW and asked if I could send the rod back to them and EXCHANGE it for a Falcon Lowrider.....what I meant is, to give me the purchase price of the Shock on the Lowrider. They were happy to do it.
Extremely well pleased with the Lowrider.....of course it was more than twice the price.
The first trip out with the Shock, I found it just OK......but nothing I would pick up and use a lot. Would be a great second rod for a fishing partner with no equipment.
I got the 7' MH for $40 at Walmart and for the price I love it. It is very light and it's sensitivity is pretty good as well. For $40 it is tough to beat. I will agree with others about the handle, but it is not a deal-breaker for me.
I just got rid of my 7' MH on ebay for a whopping $10 plus shipping. It was in A+ condition. They are great rods for the price, but I did have to exchange it after I broke the tip. The sensitivity is amazing almost to the point of being too much, lol.
Many forums that discuss this Lightning Rod end up having people talk about the LIGHTNING and the SHOCK...two different rods...I am tyring to pick between the two and have heard that the SHOCK is for using braid...if I am using mono or fluoro, should I still get the SHOCK over the LIGHTNING ROD...they are usually the same price, and the SHOCK seems to be a little better ranked on Berkley's website
When I was researching where to buy a Lightning rod while visiting in Florida, there was a $10 difference in price at all the stores between the 2 rods with the Shock being more expensive.
I remember reading once where a poster said the regular Lightning was a more versatile rod. Can't remember why he made that claim.
BTW, I never did buy a Lightning rod while in Florida. Instead I stopped at a small mom-and-pop fishing store and scored on 2 used Falcon Originals for $35 apiece. I personally prefer these rods to the Lightning.........as I imagine most people would since they cost about $100 versus the $40 for a Lightning. I found mine to be fairly sensitive as well. Much more sensitive than the home-built rod that I bought at the same time.
I have 3 Lighting Shock Rods now. Just bought my 3rd today. I love em. Until I break one, I will continue to talk them up. I would have never thought to try them if it weren't for high praises here.
I have started to disregard the reviews on certain manufactures and sporting good store websites. Never know if the person was just madder than hell when they wrote it. At least here you somewhat know the person doing the review.
They are praised here and made me feel better about buying one.
I wish they had one shorter than 6 foot more like 4-5 foot. I'd set my son up on one and let him test it. He can break anything. He has an Ugly Stick for that very reason. Nothing lasts around him!

I use fluorocarbon on my lightning shock and it works very well. I feel like the shock is lighter and more sensitive than the regular, but some don't like the handle. For $40 I'm fine with it.
I saw Walmart in Vestal,NY had a bunch on sale for like 29.99. Not sure what length or rod power though.

I hate to take away from Bass Pro but they charge 5-6 dollars more for the 7 foot MH as compared to the others. Walmart is 39.99 for all 3
Walmart seems to be the place to get them. I would check them over very good as the clientele there will tear stuff up
had mine for 2 weeks now caught about 15 fish on it using it as my weightless senko rod love it got 12# mono on it

Im not a math expert here, but 54.99-49.99 is only 5 dollars?

Elsewhere (Walmart in particular) they are $39.99. By "others", he meant anything other than 7'.
$54.99 - $39.99 = $15
The shock is a very good rod for the price, since it's meant for superlines the action falls in between a fast and moderate.

I misread your quote, sorry broham. I was stating that is crazy that the same rod is 54.99 at bass pro thats 39.99 at walmart if you buy the 7ft mh and the others are 49.99 at Basspro. Them rollback prices are to be messed with!

Never used a Shock rod but I want too. The original lightning rods are nice for the money. I dont think you can go wrong either way!
