My local DSG has a Citica 200E on sale for 79.99 plus 10% off for being a display model. This money is suppose to go to a new battery for my trolling motor and I also need an anchor.
The money would be better spent on the former but d**n I am really close to pulling the trigger on the reel and pushing myself around with the oar when in the fishing spots like I did at the end of last season.
Get the battery, pick up another reel in the future...
Use the money to get what u NEED. Deals on reels come and go all the time, but you need a battery now.
No brainer, BATTERY
To quote Metallica, BATTERY!
Go with needs before wants. If you are on good terms with a manager there maybe they would consider "holding" the reel as a lay away type of deal if you put some money down on it. If not get your battery and anchor and when the funds are available you may find the citica e on eBay gently used for close to the same amount.
Buy the battery now and if you keep your eyes open you may see a few guys looking to sell their reels after BPS,and BTD and other places have their spring sales.
Battery.
I'd get the reel.
If I were you I'd get the battery. Unless you want to be a bank fisherman like me. Nothing wrong with being a bank fisherman but if I had the boat I would try to do what is needed so I could float around and reach the spots I can't cast to. I know that you really want the reel. But you need that battery.
Whoa you guys are doing a good job of backing me away from the shiny new reel. Although I shouldn't be surprised, there are a lot of level headed guys on here.
fl_bass, I have a gas motor on my boat so I'll be able to get around, it just limits me to using an anchor to position my boat. In all reality I will most likely be able to buy a battery by the time my boat goes in the water or shortly there after. The thing is I have already overspent my fishing budget and don't want to spend more but I really would like to step-up in quality of reels. It would push back me buying my the battery for a more sexy purchase. That and I already own more reels than I can bring on my small boat this would just be the best one on it.
Keep it coming guys...you're talking me off the ledge at this point, my wife would appreciate it even though she has no clue about it.
Sell the other reels to help fund the new one.
I mean really at some point in the near future, you will get $70 for a battery, if not and you feel guilty about the reel, sell it or trade it for a battery. jus sayin
Just do it, get the reel all the cool kids are doing it.
I am in the same "boat". I need new TM batteries this year, but...........St Croix has a rod promotion going on now..........hmmm.....actually the choice is simple. I have all the rods I "need" (never as many as I want) but ....no TM batteries = no fishing. So batteries it is.
Get a piece of cardboard and a felt pen and write this, " WILL WORK FOR DEEP CELL BATTERY " Stand at the entrance to your local Walmart. People will be so stupid, you'll have the cash in an hour and can grab the reel right afterward.
It's a shimano get the battery
There will always be batteries, the Citica E is no longer made.

This is my dilemma and what has me second guessing myself and weighing out what choice I should make.
There's a saying that goes something like this...
"Don't run passed what you need chasing after what you want"

Litterally almost fell out of my chair. Hahahahaha
Ya that one had me laughing too. I was picturing myself out in front of Walmart...but I think I'll pass on that thanks.
Surpised LgM didn't jump on clayton's comment either, lol.

I know I'm saddened I didn't get a reaction from the posse lol.

At least its over an expensive boat battery. I would take a $2.00 D cell battery over a Abu or Lews. There, I didn't want to disappoint you, lol
Thanks! Haha
Simple do you want to spend more time paddling or more time casting?
Id pick the battery but you may have a new reel and end up like this

X2 But then I sometimes do instead of paying a bill.

Lmbo! Only if he gets the reel and a side of 'roids.
HA! That guy could get my boat up on plane faster than my motor.
Well...I ended up buying the Citica 200e tonight.
I got a $10 off a $50 purchase coupon the other day and couldn't pass it up. With 10% off the clearance price and another $10 off of that I walked out with the reel for a little over $60. I still have about $30 left over towards a battery, so I'll save a little bit up and should be able to buy a battery by the time the water softens up or shortly there after.
I'm going to pair it up with the Falcon Bucoo I got for $25. Not a bad little combo for $85.
Congrats, at least you still have a few bucks left over to go to the battery and a good deal to boot
That is a killer deal! Looks like things worked out, allowing you to get both your needs (battery & anchor) and wants (new rod and reel) ... or do I have that backwards!
For what you paid for that outfit I think you will be very pleased. Now if you can find a good deal on the battery and anchor you will be all set.
Ha...snuck the anchor in the grocery order last week while we were at Walmart, the battery is all that is needed now.
