favorite bass fishing lake and why? 2025

fishing user avatarIneedAnewScreenName-33448 reply :

my favorite bass fishing lake is eufalula because lillypad heaven is there!

fishing user avatarSam reply :

Lake Gaston

fishing user avatarScott F reply :

I'm not naming my favorite lake on an open forum. It has tons of bass and almost nobody fishes for them. I spend a two week vacation there in the spring and many days I never see another bass fisherman and this is on a lake that is nearly 5000 acres.  During the summer it sees more pressure, and tournaments but not while I'm fishing it. I won't pretend they are all huge fish, but I'm a numbers guy anyway and the number of fish is huge. I like keeping it a secret.

fishing user avatarlong island basser reply :

My favorite bass fishing lake is under 100 acres......so no sorry, can't name it.

fishing user avatarN Florida Mike reply :

Mine is the 16 acre lake I live on.I have fished it for 41 years now.It has the best bass fishing of any lake I've ever fished. It was good in the 70s and has been consistent all these years. Also has good catfish and bream fishing. It couldn't be more convenient. My Jon boat is 30 feet from my back door.My kids caught their first bass here. And 5 of 6 grandkids have caught their first bass here.Caught my PB here.Bass, bream and catfish.Have had many opportunities for fellowship while fishing. Not bragging- just blessed.

fishing user avatar68camaro reply :

I have two neighborhood ponds, not great but I can be from door to line-in-water in under 10 minutes on either pond. While not the biggest or most bass, they are consistent and convenient enough to go out before work, after work, on way to errands, coming back from errands, when bored at home and have as little as 30 - 60 minutes to kill, or have enough time to spend hours.

fishing user avatarDerekbass02 reply :

Long lake

:roflmao1::rofl_red::roflmao::hahaha-024:

fishing user avatarBaitMonkey1984 reply :

Love the people not telling. My Lake doesn't have public access. So I don't have to worry that much about the word getting to. But I best follow suit from the previous posters, don't want anyone catching my next PB and putting it on their wall.

Just kidding, Long Pond on MA/NH line

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

Favorite lake for what? For numbers? size? my style of fishing? smallmouth? largemouth? spots? I've fished a lot of different lakes, there's no way I could pick an all around favorite.

fishing user avatarBurtonxj reply :

It was Lunga Resevoir but that's closed up permanently. Guess they found a bunch of unexploded ordnance

Not a lake but my favorite place currently is on the upper Potomac in the kayak. Love the scenery and the smallie fishing is always good.

Lake Gaston

I want to go there some day !!

Lake Anna Va.

I have a Love/Hate relationship with this ol' girl, she is going to give me that illusive double digit bass one of these days.

fishing user avatargeo g reply :

Loxahatchee, It has tons of fish that will never even see a fisherman or a boat, there entire life.  It is a huge body of water and you can only fish about 10% of it due to thick vegetation.  Always the possibility of a personal best, my P/B was from here.  George Welcome a guide on the stick marsh had his personal best out of Lox., and he has had 800 over 10 pounds, 30 years guiding.  It fishes like Okeechobee and close to the house.  The only bad thing is the Vultures that hang out love to destroy all the rubber on your vehicle.   Wipers, window rubber, ect.  Always heavy with wildlife officers, and a speed limit on the water and they use speed guns.  Funny to see the Bullets, and Allisons going 30 MPH.

fishing user avatargardnerjigman reply :

Actual legit lake would be a real close toss up between LOZ and Grand. I like most of the little lakes around here too.

fishing user avatarbrgbassmaster reply :

@Bass fishing @bass fishing freak definitely one of the funnest lakes ive fished is lake eufala in a 3 day tourney. Awesome froggin lake! But my favorite is in northern michigan. Discovered it from some intel from a guy that lives up there. 40-50 smallies a day 3-5lbrs with a few 6s in there. Nothing like that. And never see another bass boat. How does eufala fish now a days? I heard its nit like it used to be

fishing user avatarBankbeater reply :

The lake I am catching on when I go fishing is my favorite.  Other than that I don't think I have one.

fishing user avatarclh121787 reply :

Splitting hairs between, Monticello, Gilmer,Fork, purtis creek. Honorable mentions Clear Lake, Lake of the pines, lower Colorado river back waters north of yuma

fishing user avatarJaderose reply :

My favorite is in my profile.  Little MDC lake called Happy Holler in NOWEMO.  I call it my white whale.  I have great days and and caught my PB outta there and then there are days that I can't buy a bite and I'm challenged like heck..and then just when I think I'm going somewhere else..they turn back on.  Plus..it's just a nice place to be

fishing user avatarbuzzed bait reply :

a very secluded one in western NC that sees virtually no pressure aside from some bluegill kids and a bank trout fishermen.  mostly for the scenery and peaceful nature of the place, not to mention some really nice fish and tons of cover to fish.

fishing user avatarSteveo-1969 reply :

Unlike most of you, I don't own a boat and I don't fish lakes.  I'm fortunate to live just a few minutes from the Upper Potomac and 99% of my fishing is there, wading or from the bank.

With that said I take an annual vacation to Kentucky Lake, rent a small 14' boat from the resort we stay at, drift around on the ledges for a week, and even manage to catch a fish once in a while.  So by default my favorite lake is Kentucky Lake! Ha-ha.  It's my chance to fish from a boat and catch largemouth instead of smallmouth. The end of June can't get here fast enough!!

fishing user avatardjflats58 reply :

I really like Lake of the Ozarks, especially in the off season before all of the big boats and partying starts.

fishing user avatareverythingthatswims reply :

Hot Side Lake Anna because it keeps me sane in the winter.

Edit: I have a bigger reason than that to appreciate it now

fishing user avatarDerekbass02 reply :

I also like fishing Chequamegon bay.

fishing user avatarSoFloBassFiend reply :

Okeechobee!!! No explanation needed.

fishing user avatarscaleface reply :

I like Hunnewell lake in Northeast missouri . Its a 200 acre lake and private boats are not allowed The conservation department furnishes 14 foot flat bottomed jon boats , free of charge  . Bring your electric motor and battery , I also take a depth finder . This lake has a 12 to 15 inch slot and most of the fish will fall in the slot . I try to get a limit of 11 to 12 inch fish to eat  , every time I go . Theres a lot of small bass and  a fair number of 6 lb plus bass . The medium size three to four lbers are kind of rare . I routinely have 70to 100 bass days here . Twenty  fish is a bad day . Any of you St Louis anglers want to catch a lot of bass  and not worry to much about size , this is the place .

fishing user avatarSki reply :

Stick Marsh/Farmpond-13.

50 fish days are common.

Some giants also. 12lb +

fishing user avatarjunyer357 reply :

My favorite is weiss lake. For one reason: coosa spots!!

Second favorite is lake eufaula. We go in march every year before the lilypads come up. That trip is as much or more about the atmosphere and group of guys that make the trip.  Some of them have been making the trip for their 42nd year consecutively in a few weeks. The fishing can be hit or miss depending on the weather leading up to trip and if they are prespawn or already on bed.
