The belt tips down so much the rod falls out. I went to Loews and added a 1 1/2 in 90 degree elbow to it and it seems better,I haven't tried it yet but it feels right.

don't waste your money. find something that has some surface area to distribute the load. this is too small and just pokes into you while fighting g the fish.

Saved me from lots of bruises on my last fishing trip. Improvement would be either a quickly removable pin or deeper well (for keeping the pin in) as not all rod butts are the same when fishing multiple rods.
