Q:
How many pounds will it hold?
Answer: Depends on what you are dehydrating:
Answer: 5lbs
Q:
Which dimension is 17.8"? That number does not seem accurate based on the picture.
Answer: This dimension is the depth of the dehydrator, or the length from the back of the unit to the front. We hope this helps—let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer: The depth is 17.8".
Answer: My measurements of the machine are: 13.5 inches WIDE, 12.25 inches HIGH and 17.75 inches DEEP.
Answer: That would be the depth of the whole dehydrator.
Answer: I believe that is the depth of the unit.
Answer: it's the depth from front to back
Q:
what are the exact dimensions of the trays?
Answer: trays are 12” by 12 5/8”. by the way, a REMARKABLY WELL DESIGNED AND EVEN ELEGANT UNIT THAT IS ALSO INCREDIBLY WELL BUILT. by far the best out there within anything close to this price range.

Q:
Omg, i'm so dumb. didn't read that i should run it empty for 30 minutes before using first time. there was no smoke...is the food ruined?
Answer: No worries! We recommend to do this before the first use to get rid of any "new product" smell. Your food should be good to eat if you do not notice any strange smell. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Answer: I have 3 dehydrators and I did not run any of them before use and everything turned out great !!
Answer: we did the same thing, didn't notice anything wrong with the tomatoes I dried, ate all of them

This dehydrator looks nearly identical to the magic mill commercial dehydrator. is it in fact basically the same other than name badge?

Can you operate this dehydrator using only 3 of the trays? Or must all 6 always be used for proper air circulation?
Answer: Yes, you can! You do not need to use all 6 trays for it to work. We hope this helps!
Answer: I've used with just 2 of the trays before. Same performance. This is a great dehydrator. Would buy again
Answer: Yes, you can use any number of trays of the 6, even 1 tray for the same air circulation.
Answer: Yes - though I expect it wouldn't be as energy efficient. We've done three trays before once when we had some remaining fruit at the end of growing season to dry.
Answer: I think three trays would be fine. I ran mine with all six trays in just because I didn’t have a place to put the extra tray
Answer: I’ve used it with only three trays and it seem to work fine.
Answer: Yes you can operate with any number
Answer: yes, i dont have a problem.. you can use 1 if you want
Q:
How does this compare to the Tribest Sedona P9000?
Answer: I would stack my COSORI up against the P9000 any day. The P9000 holds 3 more trays but the quality, value, function and longevity of the COSORI smoke the P9000. Save yourself $250 and get the COSORI.
Q:
Has anyone verified the heat settings ? One review stated unit did not get above 140 degrees.
Answer: I ran a test when I first bought it. It was empty. Using a meat probe on a wire it all checked out. The range goes a degree or two higher and lower as the thermometer causes the heating element to kick on and off. The heat is the temp of the air inside, not the product you are drying. Mine goes up to a registered 165 degrees. Much more accurate and efficient than the dehydrator I had before. I love it.
Answer: that is not true. We routinely use it at 145 degrees for most fruit, and 175 degrees for some vegetables.
Answer: The temperature range of this food dehydrator is between 95º-165ºF. Please keep in mind that it will take a few hours to reach your desired temperature.
Answer: I tested mine with an analog and a digital thermometer, about 1 degree plus or minus. It is very accurate!
Q:
What is the distance (height) between the mesh trays when all 6 trays are loaded?
Answer: There is 1.25 inches of clearance between the trays when they are placed in the dehydrator.
Answer: Exactly 1"¼" on mine. Measured with stainly flatmax tape.
Q:
Why the shipping is so complicated????
Answer: If you order the unit on Amazon, the package will be arranged and fulfilled by Amazon. So we recommend contacting Amazon support team if you have any questions about the shipment. Thank you for your understanding!
Q:
Does this collapse?
Answer: It does not collapse. What see is what you get.
Answer: No, this unit does not collapse.
Answer: This does not collapse.
Answer: No. Only the trays are movable for loading and washing
Answer: No it's metal and stays like this.
Answer: No it does not
Answer: No
Answer: No
Answer: No
Q:
What is in the panel on the side of the dehydrator?
Answer: Handles
Q:
Warranty: as the product can be shipped to Canada, is the warranty honoured and how would I handle an issue? Thanks
Answer: I have always called Amazon first and then they have lead me to a workable solution. I haven’t had a problem. I do like to buy the extra warranties if the product warrants it. I haven’t had to use it yet. I would say that Amazon, for us has always stepped in to help.
Q:
Does this work well for fruits with a high water content such as mangoes?
Answer: Yes. I joined a FB beginner dehydrating group. They recommended starting out with frozen fruit and vegetables. Frozen Mango was the first thing I dried. Worked very well! Cover the trays with parchment paper for no cleanup or sticking. I soared mine in Ball jar with a dessicant pack. That was probably not necessary because they aren't lasting.
Answer: We just did some juicy fruit, marinated beef, and long time soaked potatoes for chips.. and everything dried out big time and fast... My sister has the same one and does pineapple a lot too.
Answer: I think it would. The dehydration time may be longer, and the fruit may have to be sliced thinner.
Q:
how do i add to fruit roll and plastic mesh to my order
Answer: The stainless steel food dehydrator comes with a mesh screen and a fruit roll sheet. If you would like to purchase more, just search the ASIN codes B07X2JP8HP and B07WYYRZK7 on Amazon. We hope this helps!
Answer: I just use parchment paper but there’s one mesh and one solid fruit leather plastic that comes with the machine.
Answer: It comes with 1 mesh and 1 tray. This is a good quality machine. I like it very much.
Answer: It's included.
Q:
Can you use this as a warmer?
Answer: Well, yes if you keep your food covered. Otherwise the fan might dry out your food. The temperature can be set from 95 to 165 degrees. I love this machine
Answer: The lowest temp you can set is 95 F. It is a dehydrator. So it will dry out anything you put in there
Answer: No, this only can be used to dehydrate food. We hope this helps!
Q:
How much heat does it emit? Will it heat the room up?
Answer: I put mine in a small hobby room to save space and when it runs it does not heat the room up. At least not enough for me to tell it. Its also very quiet.
Answer: There is some heat from it, but it does not really heat up a room. The thing I really love about it is how quiet it is.
Answer: No, it is the best , buy this one you will love it for sure
Q:
I am concerned about emf emission....is this an "on/off" controller or is it some other kind of pwm temperature controller?
Answer: I’m not knowledgeable enough to understand what you’re asking. There is a start/off button on the front right panel. The panel is digital so when you adjust the temperature you input the temperature by holding your finger on the plus minus button to adjust /same goes for the timer. On the inside of the oven it is hollow w indentions where you slide the racks in and they rest. At the very back of the oven is a fan blade. The apples I dehydrated, tasted very good. No chemical flavor from the heat/warming process at all. Hope this helps answer something.
Answer: You control the temperature and the time
Q:
Is the door glass single pane or double pane?
Answer: I’m not sure but very little heat is lost through it.
Q:
What is the average time for dehydration to take full effect?
Answer: Depends on what you are dehydrating. Jerky takes 6 hours at 160, tomatoes i did for 10 hrs at 135, zucchini chips 12 at 140
Answer: The manual will give you a guide for each type of food you intend to dehydrate. Also I found great info by google and on Pinterest.
Answer: 10-12 hours.
Q:
Are the stainless screens hard to clean, plastic seems less likely to get food stuck in them?
Answer: I only use the plastic for fruit. The stainless steel racks I use parchment paper when do chicken jerky for my or beef jerky for us. Pork is great too!
Answer: The stainless racks are much easier to clean than plastic. I put them right in the dishwasher.
Answer: When making jerky I discovered that blotting the meat off with paper towel really helped. Clean up was much easier.
Answer: I toss all six in the dishwasher with plenty of overlap and they still get clean!
Q:
Highest temperature it can reach?
Answer: 165 degrees F and it is very accurate!
Answer: Only 165 which may be a problem for jerky. Have to do more research.
Answer: I do 160 for 6hrs for jerky. Perfect everytime. I can set at night and wake up with yummy jerky
Q:
I can't seem to contact the seller, so I'm going to ask my question here. Why is this taking so long to ship?
Answer: Your package will be fulfilled by Amazon, and it usually takes 3-14 days to ship. We recommend contacting Amazon directly with any shipping questions.
Q:
Does it have a indoor light?
Answer: Sorry, the unit does not have an indoor light. But it is excellent at dehydrating beef jerky that I make a lot of. The horizontal fan/drying makes all the difference.
Answer: It does not have an indoor light
Answer: No it dose not indoor light.
Answer: No it dose have a light inside.
Answer: No. There is no real need for one, as trays pull out easily to assess status.
Answer: No....
Q:
Is the front door glass or plastic?
Answer: Dear Customer, the front door is tempered glass which means it is safe and sturdy.
Answer: Sorry this is not the same product we purchased.
Q:
Can this dehydrator be used to quick set royal icing on cookies?
Answer: Omg please ignore the other answer and do NOT put royal icing cookies in the freezer to harden! Moisture will absolutely ruin your icing. Yes, this can be used to help quick set royal icing. It will help the top layer develop a crust first, which will reduce waiting time so you can start adding your details sooner.
Answer: I don't know if I would recommend that, wouldn't this just dry out the cookie even if it helped set the icing?
Answer: I cant say I am sure what you mean by "quick set". If you mean to make it harden then I would assume that the heat would soften the icing instead of hardening it for you. I would think a freezer would make a better alternative to help the icing harden. Hope that helps.
Q:
What type of plastic are the liners made out of? i understand that it's bpa-free, but what is it? hdpe, hdpp, pet, pete, silicone, teflon, etc?
Answer: The manufacturer does not specify the materials from which the plastic is manufactured. From the appearance of the plastic sheets they do not appear to be silicone or have a teflon coating. In any event given the danger of contamination from having food in contact with plastic of any particular type in combination with the heat generated during the dehydration process it is best not to use the plastic lines at all and simply use the six stainless steel racks that come with the product.
Answer: I believe that would be a question for the seller.
Q:
For those who made jerky... What beef did you use and was it tender?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I use london broil. I like my jerky with some resistance to it so it might not be right for you. You can try a roast and run it at a lower temp for a more tender jerky.
Answer: We have used venison and beef, as for tender, it depends on how long you cook it.
Answer: London broil Is all I use for beef
Answer: I used flank steak because it has least fat. It was tender and tasted better than the store bought one.
Answer: Venison and it came out perfect at recommended time. Thicker cuts leave in an extra hour
Q:
Is the machine made of stainless steel or only the trays?
Answer: Outside, inside & Trays are stainless steel, an attractive machine and the trays are easy to clean.
Answer: Both
Q:
Can i put parchment into the dehydrator? I hate the plastic trays for fruit leather. No plastic is safe for my standards.
Answer: what is your parchment coated with? mine (and every parchment i’ve ever used) is coated with a release agent, and the “healthy” of the choices are silicone, which isn’t technically a plastic, it’s a polymer, but by your statement that no plastic is safe, surely you might want something else.
Answer: Paper flashes at Fahrenheit 451 degrees, and the oven only goes up to 160F deg, with special overheat trip-out breaker protections, so you should be safe with the paper. I would not use wax paper, only special cooking parchment.
Answer: Get your scissors ready. I cut parchment paper to fit the rack grates every time I dehydrate anything from fruit to beef jerky. There has been any issues thus far. AND. . . It saves a While lot of clean up!
Answer: The trays are not plastic. They are stainless steel. The only plastic tray, if you opt to use it, is placed on the bottom to catch any drips.
Answer: I don't think you can. The treats are not plastic they are metal.
Answer: Yes you can use It, I use all the time.
Q:
What is the warranty?
Answer: This product will arrive with a 1-year warranty, and you can extend the warranty to a 2-year service if you are willing to submit some information on our website. - Per COSORI
Q:
How long the manufacturers warranty?
Answer: 1 year I think
Q:
Is it using a lot electric?
Answer: I haven't had it long enough to know. I do think it will use less than the oven, though!!
Answer: No....
Answer: I haven’t noticed that it does
Q:
Where can I buy more of the fruit roll sheets for this dehydrator?
Answer: Amazon carries them.
Q:
Can I insert a tray in every other slot to give twice as much room between trays?
Answer: I don’t always fill every tray, so there should be no problem with that. But, if you are leaving room to accommodate thicker, bulkier material, this will definitely affect your outcome.
Answer: Yes you can space trays however you like in the slots provided.
Answer: Yes. The trays are removable and you can use as as many or few as you need.
Answer: Yes, each tray can be removed so you can put in as many as you would like.
Answer: Yes but not necessary it works great using all or some racks.
Answer: Yes you can
Answer: Yes.
Q:
Does this machine contain any plastic and is the housing/racks 100% stainless steel?
Answer: Internally, the machine is metal. Obviously on the external time/temp control, there is some plastic to those parts. Racks are metal, I can only assume they are stainless steel, with the exception of the fruit tray/rack that they include when you purchase, it is plastic. You don’t need to use that rack though to run a full load. Google the name and you will find a few good videos of this machine in action to see all these things for yourself.
Answer: The outer enclosure is stainless. The racks appear to be chromed Steel. There is plastic externally that is decorative.
Answer: I am concerned that a reviewer stated that the front of the machine gets really hot, but the sides don't. I know it have a safety shut off feature, but is it normal for the front to get hot?
Q:
Does it have a glass door?
Answer: Yes
Q:
I'm looking for additional mesh (silicone) sheets for this, does anyone know where I can find them?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: Amazon has them just type mesh silicone sheets
Answer: On the same page as the COSORI dehydrator they are listed. They are not listed under the name COSORI but a different
Q:
Does bacon fat splatter all over inside the dehydrator when making bacon jerky?
Answer: I have not used bacon but the beef I have used has not splattered.
Q:
Can this be plugged into a normal outlet?
Answer: This dehydrator has a two-prong plug that should be used with a standard 120V power supply.
Answer: Yes. Normal being a 110 outlet with ground
Answer: Not sure what "normal" means. If it means 2 prong outlet, NO. Needs a ground outlet.
Answer: Yes it can. 110v to 120v.
Answer: Yes, if you live in the US and have standard 110 volt power.
Answer: yes we use it in our kitchen
Answer: Yes. Definitely.
Q:
What's the warranty on motor/fan/heater/controlp-panel of this 6-tray rectangular dehydrator?
Answer: I don't know but I have been using dehydrators for years and this is the best small dehydrator
Q:
Where does it say this is American made?yes it tells me it is made I am looking for American made only not designed here
Answer: designed in America and made in China.
Answer: It is not made in the United states. It's made in China.
Q:
What grade and thickness is the stainless steel?
Answer: Not sure what grade of steel it is. All I can say is that it does not get hot on the outside . I have my dehydrator in use most days. It does a great job.
Answer: I do not know the technical specifications, but I will say this is a very high quality appliance - easy to clean, excellent materials, solid and works as advertised! I was pleased when it first arrived, and beyond happy after using it - I would recommend this to my best friend. It is extremely well engineered and constructed. Even the shelves are high-grade stainless and solid as a rock.
Product reviews of COSORI Premium Food Dehydrator Machine(50 Free Recipes), 6 Stainless Steel Trays with Digital Timer and Temperature Control for Beef,Jerky,Fruit,Dog Treats,Herbs,ETL Listed/FDA Compliant
Jane Tee : It works well and there is no shuffling of trays
The COSORI Premium Food Dehydrator Machine is quiet. Love the timer function so I don't have to babysit the machine. I marked clean-up as easy, but in truth, I haven't cleaned it much. I've only been doing fruit (apples and asian pears) and those don't stick or leave any residue as yet. A quick wipe and it's good to go for the next batch.
The old dryer had the fan in the bottom of a stack of trays which means I had to swap the trays from top to bottom so all the trays would get done at once. This COSORI has the fan in the back so it's blowing over all the trays at one time. No swapping needed!
Luhlar : Good dehydrator, accurate temps
Temperature control and timer are game changers. I finally replaced an old school dehydrator with this. Read a lot of reviews (using fakespot to doublecheck them). The rear fan distributes the heat evenly, and my thermometer indicated the heat settings were accurate. Little noisy, but my dishwasher is louder. Not bad. Lots of trays. I store it on top of a cabinet, because it’s too tall to go on the shelves inside. It’s worth it to have six shelves to use at a time. It’s easy to clean. I bought it to dehydrate backpacking meals and snacks. Does that job well. My refrigerator is where vegetables go to die. As a single person, it’s kind of hard to get through the vegetables before they go bad. Now, I throw veggies in the dehydrator if they are in danger of going bad. I use them in stews and other meals, and they taste great.
Kathy : My dehydrator quit working after 3 uses
We used this dehydrator 3 times and it quit working. We bought it because it had good reviews. I guess my big complaint is with the customer service. I don't want a refund.... I just want a replacement that works. We are under the 90 day warranty. They have asked me to "video" what I am experiencing. What? I am experiencing NOTHING! The machine broke. It quit working. How do you video that? I guess I will have to contact my credit card company and have them fight my battles. The three times the machine worked.. it did a great job. We are very disappointed.
Lorraine Cady : Good and fun.
I love this thing. Digging thru the fridge to find out what to try next. It's always a surprise. Try carrots. They turn into nuggets. Avocados are great. Everything you dehydrate comes out with a concentrated flavor. Musk melon is my favorite. Machine works as advertised. I would get more of the plastic vented trays as the steel ones can be hard to clean up and food can stick to them.
Just me : Very quiet and precise temp control
I have been wanting a decent dehydrator for a long time. I bought a few over the years. I kept trying to find a cheap way to do it. The first one literally melted itself after 2 uses. The second one couldn't properly dry a wet peice of paper. The third one was extremely loud and only lasted a few months before it stopped working. All together I could have bought 2 of these with the money I wasted. That being said I'm thrilled with this dehydrator. I use it for making fruit leather, dehydrating herbs, fruits, meats as well as drying my cookies after they have been iced to get that perfect sheen and spees up dry times. This fits about 5 lbs of beef jerky at one time. It's very easy to clean inside and out. I just soak the grates or plastics after using them and they come clean easily with a brush. I purchased some additional trays for fruit leather as this only comes with two. There's no cheaper way to do it. You do best to buy the original ones from the maker of the machine. It is very quiet and you can set it and forget it. It will shut off after the timer goes off. I can never leave anything on when I'm sleeping. That has more to do with me than the machine, as I'm just uncomfortable doing it. However I haven't had any issues that would make me think I couldn't. It holds the temperature very accurately. I used my thermopro wireless smoking thermometer and set it to alarm me if the temp dropped or went above the set temp more than 2°. After 6 hours of use it never decreased or increased more than 2°. I did place the thermometer at different levels throughout to see if there were any variations throughout. There were no temperature issues at any level. All in all I'm extremely happy with this machine. My only regret is that it took me so long to buy it.
Gail B : Great dehydrator!
Ive been wanting one of these for a few years now and wanted a stainless steel. I found this one reasonably priced and just had to get it. Its a beautiful machine. Ive never dehydrated food in my life but this machine is so easy to use. I did 5lbs of potatoes . They turned out great in about 7 hrs but I think it would have been shorter had I sliced them uniformally and thinner. I ordered a mandoline slicer to help with that. I am so happy with this machine. As soon as my slicer comes in I will do more. I was reading online and did you know dehyd pot. last 20 to 30 yrs if vacuumed packed correctly? These will prob outlive me! Lol kids theres your inheritance. Have fun with this I know i am. I bought my daughter one for her birthday and she loves it. I got her the plastic one and I may buy me one and have 2 going. I have a small freezer so this is saving so much room and I can buy more when there are sales. My pantry is growing with mason jars filled with peppers zuchinni spinach cabbage. Im doing berries at the moment. You wont regret getting this. So just buy it!
Rudolph J. Schrot : Great dehydrator!
When I look at Amazon product reviews, I always go to the one star reviews, and see if any of the complaints are legitimate. For example "product never arrived, one star!", "works great, but arrived with a small scratch, one star!"., "We love the product, but the customer service put me on hold and didn't call back, one star!" (Give me a break!!) ...not to mention the opposition marketing planting bad reviews for the competition.
Anyway, I'm completely happy with this purchase. The unit works great. It has a stainless steel exterior and glass front which looks great on the kitchen counter, better than the round plastic units. I like the glass in front which allows me to monitor the drying process. The stainless steel racks are dishwasher safe, and cleaning the unit is a snap. So far, I've made dried apples, kale chips, and venison jerky. The Cosori dried the items in much less time than expected. For the jerky, I set the temp to 155, and they were completely done in 5 hours.
For those review complaints about the unit not getting hot enough, this is nonsense. I did check the temperature of the jerky a few times, and although it is a few degrees cooler than the temperature which is set, I would expect this. As water evaporates from food, the temperature will go down (this is basic physical chemistry, and the reason why sweating cools you off!).
This unit appears to be exactly the same as the Ivation from all outward appearances, although who knows about the interior or electronics. It looks like the Ivation model sells for about $20 less. Most of the gripes about the Ivation are focused on lack of a good manual. The Cosori comes with a great manual and useful recipe book that provides guidelines for temperature and drying times for different food types. With the better literature which is included with the Cosori-branded product, and the large number of positive reviews, the $20 is worth it.
No complaints so far! If you are a commercial operation, or have a huge bumper crop from the fruit trees on your property, you might want to consider a larger unit, although it probably will not fit well on a kitchen counter or clear the overhead cabinets.
amaquin : Excellent Little Machine
It's about 6 square feet of tray space, not huge. I tested it with a temperature probe and the settings are pretty close. This dehydrator is easy to use, and quiet enough. The included 1/2-inch-mesh stainless steel trays are fine for large items, but not blueberries, shredded carrots, or herbs, but as stainless steel, they are super easy to toss in the dishwasher.
The additional plastic finer-mesh and solid trays are around $12.00 each. I wish they were cheaper or sold as cheaper 6+6 bundle or something, as $150 is too much. So instead, for the little items I use parchment paper at $0.10 each on top of the stainless steel trays. Paper towels or wax paper might work too. Ideally, Cosori could make the stainless steel mesh about half (or 1/4 inch), but I'm sure that would bump up the price. So, for now, it's a winning combination as it is.
But anyway, I'm very happy with this machine. The food in both my bigger machine and this Cosori end up 'done' at pretty much the same time, which is a good indicator of temperature and air-flow for both machines.
Alex Abernathy : Temperature not achieved
The unit arrived in good condition and I don't think this is a problem with just this unit. The unit will not achieve a temperature even close to the 155 degrees Fahrenheit which I require for my purposes. I first set the digital display at 155 and babysat the unit for 20 minutes at which time it leveled at 112. I then increased the display to 165 and monitored it until it leveled at 124 at which point there was no further increase. The chamber heating was uneven with a 14 degree difference in the highest and lowest. Testing was done with the Raytek MiniTemp. The unit appears to be well made and may serve the purpose of dehydrating food in spite of the inaccurate and lower than indicated heating.
Amazon Customer : Some Great Features, But One Thing Killed It For Me
I have a small Apartment and was impressed with how quiet the dehydrator was. It didn’t keep me up nor did it wake me up in the middle of the Night.
The dehydrator came with a book which I would advise you to read. I liked that it gave as much information as it did about the product and how to use it. One thing I didn’t like about the timer was that you could only adjust it to 30 minute increments. Despite that, I really liked that they included this feature on it. I didn’t have to worry about checking it all of the time to see if it was done or worry that it was being left on too long.
I used this dehydrator only once and was irritated and annoyed that I paid $160 for this product only for it to retain stains after my 1st time using it. It is a bigger item so it is something that is left out in the open for people to see. Some people who have bigger homes may have the option of storing it somewhere, but for me and I would argue most of their target customers that may not be the case.
I am very particular about my things and making sure that they stay clean and are taken care of. I don’t mind spending the money for a product like this, but if I am going to spend as much money as I did I expect a higher quality in the item staying clean and expect it to last.
I didn’t put aluminum foil or anything else in the dehydrator as I had the expectation that the stains would come out of cleaned in a timely manner (about an hour or two after using it to allow it some time to completely cool down). Also, from what the booklet said I also figured that using anything like that could ruin / destroy the dehydrator which wasn’t a risk I was willing to take.
I attached pictures to show the stains that were left after just one use for those who want to see.
Donald James : Worth every penny!!!
I couldn't be happier. I got this to make sweet potatoe snacks for my dogs and fruit snacks for myself to save money from buying expensive dehydrated snacks all of the time. It will pay for itself within 2 months easily. Very simple and straightforward to use. Cooking suggestion times and temp pamphlet is amazing. Keep an eye on it the first few times you use it. You will have different results depending on thickness of cut ... I am in love with it though .... great value
Dawn D. Bengel : When it worked
When it worked, I LOVED it. It wasn't too noisy, the machine itself never got too hot to handle. It was great.
Unfortunately, it suddenly stopped working in the middle of a batch yesterday afternoon. Exactly 1 month after I bought it. :-(
Amazon is quick and fabulous. Contacted support and they're sending me a return tag. So I'll get a refund. But I'm super sad this machine died so soon after purchase.
p.s. when I tried to call Cosori support, I was directed that they're only accepting email inquiries at this time.
Ranger Rick : I Almost Returned, But Cosori Customer Service Saved The Day!
I followed the Operations Manual by doing an initial warm up. While doing that, I placed my Thermoworks Smoke temp probe inside the unit to see what was going on accuracy wise. These are accurate probes, they come with certificates of calibration. During the 30 minute cycle, the unit never ran below 167 degrees, and peaked at nearly 173. The unit never ran near the 165 supposed maximum. I understand that much like our conventional ovens, heating units will vary a few degrees above and below their set point, giving you an average. This unit's average would have been 170 degrees. For $160 unit, I would expect something a little better.
I contacted the Cosori Customer Service Dept., sent them pictures and received this response:
Thank you again for your call earlier today! As per our conversation, we will consult our tech team to better assist with your dehydrator. If you set the unit to 165F, for example, the unit will output heat to maintain it at about that temperature. The exact temperature inside the unit may fluctuate up and down by a few degrees. If you believe your unit to be defective, however, we stand by you and would be happy to send you a brand-new one to try. Please understand that this new dehydrator may behave similarly. We want to help as best as we can and look forward to hearing from you soon. Please let us know how you would like to proceed.
Best regards,
Tea
---Not long after, I got surprise a call from the Customer Service Manager, Jubilee, who worked with me to understand the issue and we arrived at a resolution to the problem.
I waited to edit this review, using the dehydrator several times, and can say that it is very simple to use, I like having 6 wire racks to do large batches of jerky, super hot peppers, and fresh herbs from my garden. Based on my knowledge of it's temp fluctuations, I adjust accordingly. I think this unit will last a long time and perform well.
The Cosori Customer Service team is world class, and will do their very best to help in any way they can. I'm looking forward to buying more of their appliances in the future.
IamME : It's big and holds alot.
Ok, early review. Did the 30 minute run after cleaning the entire inside and racks. Did not experience the "smell" others have. Cleaned again after initial run and first run was with pears. Made pear chips with a little cinnamon. Cut approx 3/16-1/4 thick only sprinkled one side no sugar. Set machine @ 145 for 7.5hrs and they were at the "sun dried" texture and was at the just starting to shrink stage, added another 3hrs and they were perfect. Not totally crunchy like a chip a little chewy but good. Will be making some beef jerky and later in the month some fruit leather. Right now I'm happy with the results. When I do apple chips I will set it for 145 but 6hrs as pears retain more water then apples. But with everything new each item getting dehydrated will be an experiment in temperature and time.
silvered : dehydated strawberries
I have only used my stainless steel dehydrator 2x to dehydrate my favorite year round snack, dried strawberries. This replaced an older plastic round dehydrator. That one took 6 hrs to dry my berries, The new Cosori took just under 3 hrs! I love the fact that it is stainless steel, has stainless trays, not plastic. I took a class on dehydrating foods. The instructor stated that square machines were better to use than round. Of course getting rid of plastics was good too! I read thru all the reviews of a variety of dehydrators on the market & selected the Cosori based on other comments. It concerns me somewhat that some reviewers state that this machine gives out after just a few rounds of dehydrating. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will have this machine for many years of good use, as was with my old plastic one. At least the metal trays won't break apart.
Fran : quiet dehydrator
Easy to clean and super quiet. I specifically bought this for drying herbs. But doesn't do so well. Second tray from bottom dried herbs but all other shelves were just as if i had just put herbs in dehydrator after 14 hours. Will be trying fruit soon. Very lightweight.
Parker-Moore Family : Non-standard size trays, small capacity around 6.5 sq ft
This is my second Cosori product. I liked their air fryer, but the dehydrator just falls short on usability.
The dehydrator is $159. They have 6-trays, it’s about 6.5 square foot capacity, trays are 13" x 12", has an adjustable thermostat 95°F to 165°F, Timer (30 min-48 hr), and 600-Watts. The unit is 13.4 x 17.8 x 12.4 in. and weighs 21.2 pounds. They have a 2 year warranty.
Bottom line, deal breaker issues. 1. The trays are an awkward size roughly 12x13 inches. Most mesh and Teflon sheets won’t work. You could cut down a mesh one to fit, but I don’t think I want to compromise the integrity of a Teflon sheet. 2. There is not much capacity, since the trays are rough 12x13, we are talking about 6.5 square feet capacity compared to 15-16 square feet that I already have with my Excalibur. This might be fine for some people but not a veggie gardener, homesteader, herbalist or raw foodie. 3. The mesh on the screen is much wider so dehydrating smaller items or herbs is going to get messy as food falls through the mesh. 4. Could not find that they sold accessories like more mesh sheets or fruit roller tray. If you are looking for a range of accessories they don’t exist as far as I can tell.
Background for comparison:
I have 3 Excalibur dehydrators. Their ParaFlexx™ Sheets are the best I have ever used. I also had a Tribest Dehydrator on my wish list for some time, however they are expensive.
I have 2 Excalibur 3900 models (paid $250 each 10 years ago), they have a great resell value and new ones sell for $200 today. They have 9-trays, 15 square foot capacity, trays are 15" x 15", has an adjustable thermostat 105°F to 165°F, 7’' fan, and 600-Watts. The unit measures 12.5”H x 17”W x 19”D and weighs 22 pounds.
A few years ago, I purchased the EXC10EL 10-tray model which set me back $1000. They have stainless steel 10-tray, 16 square foot capacity, trays are 15" x 15", 99 hour, digital timer with Two Time, Two Temperature, adjustable thermostat 95°F to 165°F, 6.5’' fan, and 600-Watts, drip tray, and 10 year warranty. The unit measures 17”H x 17 1/4”W x 20 1/2”D and weighs 63 pounds.
Tommy Poundcake : Defective product
We just recently purchased the Corsori Premium Food Dehydrator to dry some wild mushrooms. After the first batch was dried, we let the unit cool for 6 hours. When we were drying the next batch of mushrooms out under our perola on a sunny day, the my husband got an electric shock upon touching the unit. He got shocked three times and unplugged the unit. We informed customer service who attributed it static. We believe it is a short in the unit. We will return the unit and ask for refund. We were disappointed ... since the we really like the trays, the window and the temperature and time controls.
Geoff Elsner : Won't last two months
It did a great job for about a month and a half, then it died. Don't waste your money on it.
DrDb : For 21 days worked great. Then inexplicably died. Customer service was great, though.
We purchased this COSORI Premium Food Dehydrator Machine to preserve excess veggies and herbs for snacks and recipes, after our pandemic garden started delivering.
Did our research, settled on this model, liking the stainless steel over plastic of cheaper models so splurged on the higher price, using birthday money. We did see in a few others' reviews where this unit had gone bad for them, had electrical issues (as some other dehydrator reviews talked of, too, but decided to take a chance due to an overall high review rating.
The dehydrator arrived quickly on August 11, 2021, and the next day we started using it. It worked great, as promised, and it was one of those thoughts of "Where has this been all my life?"
We were learning how to make chips for snacking and recipes (banana chips are awesome, and we turned some old bags of frozen broccoli spears into a nice tasty afternoon snack). We used 6 times, not overdoing it, not overheating or overloading, and a couple of days between each use.
We began happily researching how to dry herbs and other items--and then on September 1 got a sad surprise. I prepared and placed three trays of sliced food into the dehydrator and pushed the "ON" button. Nothing happened. It was as if it wasn't even plugged in. Pushed the button, again and again, in different ways, plugged and unplugged it, tried different outlets, wiggled the cord.
Soon it was clear the COSORI Premium Food Dehydrator Machine was dead.
We could not recall anything we'd done to cause this. We'd not moved the unit since setting it on its table, had not overworked it, pulled on the plug, or anything we could imagine that could have caused this. Bummer!
The good news is that Amazon's Customer Service made it extremely easy to return--in minutes that evening, went through the steps, put it back in its original box (hubby keeps original boxes, which he was happy turned out to be helpful here.) The next day, UPS had come by our home and picked it up. By afternoon, we had a notice our account was being refunded. Thanks so much! We give Customer Service a "5."
We had the choice to have this dehydrator model replaced with another-- or for a refund. As much as we liked this Dehydrator when working, we made the choice NOT to chance a second one, partly re-reading other customer's similar experiences. We believe this model must have some electrical design issues with electrical wiring or control panel--and that if we got a replacement it would have a good chance of developing similar problems.
So we cannot recommend this model, and would not buy it again, hence the low 1-star rating.
We do feel lucky that in our case it happened to go bad so quickly. If it had taken longer, we maybe wouldn't have been able to get it replaced so easily.
Also, we are glad that we had this unintended "trial period" to realize that we love having a dehydrator and have so many ways it can be handy for us.
We will use the refund to purchase another dehydrator on Amazon that we hope will be more durable and give us years of good service.
We do thank Amazon for making this otherwise sad experience as painless as possible.
GE : Doesn’t heat evenly
Did not heat evenly, I had half of my Jerky Done on one end while the other half needed a lot more time.
Michelle : Great product
I had purchased this dehydrator as I have an overwhelming garden, It has come in handy and easy to use. I fill it up before I go to bed and turn it on and in the morning my veggies are done and ready for further processing.
Nitty's Mom : Make healthy snacks with extended shelf life
My husband has been wanting a dehydrator for a long time to make turkey and beef jerky. Beef and turkey jerky is very expensive, but with the Cosori, jerky becomes affordable.
For a first run, we made apples with cinnamon, bananas and strawberries. The apples got the best reviews but all were delicious. We set the digital temperature to 135 degrees for 8 hours. When we first opened the unit, the apples were not done yet, so we added another hour and they were perfect. The Cosori comes with an instruction booklet and a recipe book for jerkies, fruits, snacks, and sweets. Some of the tantalizing recipes include Balsamic Mustard Beef Jerkey,, Thai Curry Jerky, Smoked Salmon Jerky, Honey Bourbon Peaches, Red Berry Fruit Leather, Garlic Kale chips, Sweet and spicy almonds and Almond craisins cookies.
In addition to the great recipes, Cosori has an 800 number for their in-house chefs to answer any questions. This dehydrator is on the higher side price wise as you can buy plastic units for much less, but the build quality and large capacity make this a worthwhile investment.
Carrie : Awesome dehydrator esp for the price
Do far we have watermelon that almost went bad in the fridge and strawberries, I have banana and blueberries in right now, and we're loving it, it works great it is so quiet I thought it wasn't working at first and I turned it off and on 3 times to check then I seen that it was by the fan moving, so extremely quiet! I hope this lasts a long time cause we will definitely be using and enjoying it. I did tons of research before buying this, from excalibur to nesco to commercial grade from my husband's work ordering place, I almost went that way but chose this one because it looks nice enough to leave it out on the counter and the commercial grade one of similar cost was very ugly but much larger, I figured we didn't need that much room anyways. And we don't. The dehydrator came packaged so we'll it reminded me of getting my kitchen aid stand mixer, it comes with a recipie book and a user manual, I really couldn't be happier. . And I really will update if there are any future problems.....to be continued??
Michelle : Great product

Teri : Just buy one!!!
I did my research on these, and this was the best for the price. I actually would have paid a lot more for it!! Love, love, love that it has steel racks and also one for fruit roll ups. I've used it for about a year now, watched the Youtube videos on it, and it works great. I've saved a FORTUNE on beef jerky and snacks. Now with the Coronavirus, I bought a bunch of fruit and veggies, and I'm going to TOWN. I'm thinking I'll be inside for about 2 months before having to buy more fruit and veggies. This was an absolute blessing!! Remember, if you are doing garlic and onions, put it by a window that's open!! Otherwise, put it inside. My whole house smells like bananas now!! Yummie!!

Christine : Not worth the price it doesn’t perform well
This was my first dehydrator. Could totally be my error I will completely admit this but I followed the recipes to a tee several times and still had no luck. I also noticed that there were a few reviews where people had similar issues. So who knows. Any who, my issue was I cut up squash and zucchini and let them go for darn near 24 hours at 130 degrees and they were gummy. It was so stinking gross. I checked them after 14 hours, 18, 20 and at 24 they got trashed. They were various different thicknesses to test what would be best. All the same result. Not much moisture gathered at the bottom either. Which to me seems odd like it should totally have a lot. I just don’t think this thing is worth its big ticket price.
J. Harris : Spend more in electricity?
First one arrived damage. Very easy to get a replacement. Second arrived perfect. First thing we tried were banana chips. Followed a recipe from a website that actually exceeded the time in the included recipe book. It was like a fruit by the foot instead of "chip". Next try did zucchini, apple, and banana. Zucchini turned out okay. Apple turned into like mortar in your teeth and was still soft after like 12 hours. Bananas we had in for about 24 and were kind of firm, but still soft. Given the time, power usage, and space this takes up, sent it back. I shouldn't have to exceed the cook time in recipes included with a unit many times over and still not have what is described.
Perhaps this was a dud that didn't heat properly, but it did warm up so we are assuming it functioned correctly. We have a vacuum sealer from the same company that works amazing. At this point, the hassle, time, and power commitment isn't for us despite the "homemade" aspect. Not sure we will try a different brand at this time.
Kerry. : takes for to long to dehydrate
4 days of dehydrating the same fruits. I am, disappointed last machine we had did it in 12 hours
Alyssa Conrad : Quiet, easy to clean, plenty of space, comes with a recipe book.
I love this dehydrator.
Pros It is so quiet, you hardly notice it when you're standing next to it. The shelves/bottom of the dehydrator are fairly easy to clean. The shelves have plenty of space for the variety of things that can be dehydrated. About 2 1/2 average sized apples per tray. I've made other things (jerky, a variety of fruit chips, dried spices, etc) and it never fails to make the house smell amazing. So far, the auto off feature (After the timer runs out) works perfectly. I haven't had any overheating situations yet, but using the indications from everything else I'd like to assume that the overheating safety feature will work reliably as well. It's super easy to change the time and temperature settings. It comes with a recipe book, and the recipes look sooo good. (I haven't made any of them yet, primarily have just been dehydrating things without any marinades/spices to test out the dehydrator. My husband did make jerky, though, and it turned out sooooo good.)
Honestly, I can't actually think of anything bad about this unit. I guess it could have more space for shelves, but it's just about perfect for what I need so I have no complaints there. This is a really good unit, and well worth the money. If you're considering getting it, I highly recommend it.
HeyJune : Door off kilter
Has anyone else had an issue w this? I just unboxed my oven, and put my first batch of apples in and upon closing the door, I noticed a large gap at the upper right corner where the door meets the top panel. I followed the directions included before using. I am moving fwd w my apples anyway bcz I’ve already started. I’ll update my review after I’ve heard from the the company.

dke2 : Love this dehydrator
I did a lot of searching and reading online reviews of different dehydrators. I used to have one that had several trays and gave it to my son several months ago because he was making jerky. It worked fine, but had to constantly rotate trays and I figured he needed this more than me. So AFTER the gardening season was over, I decided that I wanted one to preserve my bumper crop of potatoes. How I wish I would have thought to purchase one during the growing season. As I said I read a lot of reviews and at times I was so frustrated because NONE of them were without criticism. I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Cosori. It was a bit more pricey than the models with trays that had to be rotated. This one has 6 metal trays & with the fan in the back of the unit, there is no rotation of trays needed!! You can set whatever temp you want & the minutes or hours for dehydrating. It has a light so you can see inside and the door can be opened to check and can resume dehydrating. The only thing I dehydrated this year was sliced potatoes. I watched several YouTube videos & it was so easy. As a precaution, I purchased the 4 year additional warranty for 29.99. As I was reading the instruction manual, I see that it is warranted for 2 years, not 1 year as I assumed. Probably didn't have to buy the additional warranty, but for the price at less than $8.00 a year I'm ok with that. Also I plan on giving it a real workout test next year. I can't wait!! Oh, and I didn't mention how quiet it is. Even my husband is impressed with this machine. Love, love, love it!!
Bill Woods : My "new" dehydrator arrived filthy and dented
Disgusting.. Received a used unit, with fresh crumbs and drippings from the previous, unhappy owner. Was dented, too. What garbage.
Amazon Customer : The unit got way too hot! Possible hazard!
I had to write this review because this appliance may be a hazard. I was using it at 125 degrees overnight drying lemons. I started to sense burning smell and didn't realize at first it was from my lemons in the dehydrator! At the kitchen, the unit was very hot, when I try to touch the metal trays, I couldn't even hold them with my hands they were so hot! At that time, I had to measure the actual temperature in the unit and it showed 177 degrees, 52 degrees higher than what was supposed to be! and this was the temperature after I already opened the door for a couple of times. Of course, I had to throw away the overcooked lemons which probably didn't have any vitamins left. But the main issue - the unit got way too hot! Possible hazard!
Deanna : Perfect Dehydrator!
I had purchased a dehydrator from a different company that was expensive, noisy, mostly plastic and couldn't keep the temperature. Thankfully I was able to return it and learned everything that I didn't want from a dehydrator. After a good deal of research, I purchased this one because it's made from metal, COSORI has a great reputation and this unit in particular has some great reviews. I received this yesterday and have already used it to make dehydrated garlic. I was pleasantly shocked at how well built and quiet this unit is. The racks fit perfectly, the door opens and shuts easily, the temperature and timer are easy to adjust and you can even turn the sound on or off. I used the fruit roll up sheet as a drip tray and I purchased separate silicon mesh sheets to go over the racks to keep my herbs from falling through. LOVE that COSORI provides a 2 year limited warranty if you register the product online, which I did. Really this dehydrator blows away my other one that cost just as much, but was nowhere near as nice.
Katie Tucker : Worked great until it didn't
Worked great the first 2 times we used it, go for time #3 and it won't even turn on. Outlet works, chord looks good, yet it doesn't turn on. Pretty disappointing.
Debby Phillips : I love my dehydrator
I have waited 6 month to write this review on this product so I could be certain to give an honest, informative and complete review, as this was my first experience with this manufacturer. I have used this dehydrator numerous times from beef to apples to herbs and to date the only thing I wouldn’t try again would be blueberries, only because they took to long for my patience level. Today I’m trying out beets to dry, then grind into beet powder. ???? This dehydrator is so easy to clean. I literally just wipe it out. I choose to wash the shelves by hand but it say they are dishwasher safe. I use it on my kitchen counter between the kitchen and living room and there is absolutely no noise issue. It is no louder then a very quiet fan. I added a video so you can hear the sound. Most importantly to me because I live in a very warm climate I was worried it would heat up the room making the air conditioning run more. I’m happy to report I’ve had no issue at all with it heating up the room. Bottom line, I Love this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Jeff D M : Don't Buy! Cosori Doesn't Want Your Business!
I spent forever trying to register this product, Cosori made it incredibly hard and wants informantion that really isn't anywhere. Production bath number? They have a link for more information on their registration page that opens an error. As a web developer I know that when companies do this it's because they don't want you to get help and they don't want you to register the product, they just want you to go away. I suggest that you do exactly that. We've tried to dehydrate a couple things and it's been hit or miss. Try something else from a company that stands behind their product.
A. Ferre : Loving my dehydrator
I've been thinking about buying one of these for awhile now and am glad I did. I love beef jerky, but I always pass it by in the grocery store because it is so expensive, but now I can go to Costco and get a bunch of beef and make it myself. I've been dehydrating things left and right, persimmons and kiwi are particularly good! This machine is rather large, but it is well built and easy to use. I like the stainless steel trays as opposed to the plastic of the one we had when I was growing up. It looks very professional sitting on my counter.
Kathy DeFoor Metzger : Don't hesitate to put this in your buggy! BUY IT!
If you are looking for a quality built dehydrator that is a extremely quiet machine, then put this one in your buggy! Easy to setup and use. Packaged very well. No damage. To start... Place your prepared fruit/veggies/meats/herbs/flowers etc on the stainless steel racks (6) and set the time and temp and walk away...you can open the door at any time to turn things if you want and/ or see it all thru the glass door. The timer shows the remaining time left and the temperature you set. Nice feature. I figured it would be stuffed in a closet, and not allowed to sit out when not using....but it seriously looks like a mini oven and not big and chunky. Sleek. Yet, amazingly holds a lot of items. Nice addition to use every day. Loved the cookbook that came with it. Very detailed. A section to let you know precisely what temp and time to use for things you are drying. Quality product. Don't hesitate to buy. Shipping was so fast I wasn't prepared to start dehydrating, so I sent the hubby to the store. Hehe I would suggest to buy more liners for smaller items or use parchment cut to size, not wax paper. Quality product, fast shipping, easy to use, large capacity, QUIET, nice sleek design, and free items...why would you keep looking?
Cea Jays : Holds perfect temps, easy to keep clean
This is my first dehydrator. With that said, I am learning the how to's of these. A friend of mine has one of the round plastic ones. I see him with all these bulky hard to store trays, stacking them, cheap timer, poor temp controls ..... I would rather spend a few bucks the first time and not repeat others mistakes. After reading hundreds of reviews on dozens of these, this one stood out. It came double boxed to protect it very well in shipping. When opening it up, I was impressed the care that was taken. All the parts were there, no issues.
Cleaned the trays and fired it up. My main reason for this is to reduce weight of foods while in the BWCA (Boundary Water Canoe Area) in MN. Weight is every thing, so if I could reduce the weight of the food, my back would thank me. First trial - spaghetti sauce - a 66 oz bottle reduced down to 13 oz, noting the parchment paper sucked up the oils. To take 4# to less than 1 was amazing - To bring it back was simple math, 1 tea spoon oil, 4 to 5 parts water to 1 part sauce. Several attempts to get it right, and no one knew it was ever dehydrated.
I have several high end test instruments and wondered how accurate this was. The temp held within 1% of set point. I could not ask for more.
Still working on getting other items used on our trips, changing menus to what I can dehydrate. So far, this unit has impressed me.
It is large, takes up a lot of counter space, not easy to just move - a bit bulky. For a quality unit, those I can deal with. Over all - I would suggest this over all the others I have seen. Only had this a month, still working on the best methods, but 34so far - over 100 hours of use, it has not missed a beat.
Julie : Small grids stainless steel meshes
I really like this dehydrator, beginning with the loquats, mulberries, lemons, oranges, and flowers. The machine is quiet, the stainless steel meshes are easy to clean. I only wish there is smaller grid of stainless mesh available for purchase, because I don’t like use plastic for drying the food which’s I am going to eat it later. I want to dry goji berries and loquat seeds. Overall this is a good dehydrator, and I am drying a lot of fruits, it taste pretty good, didn’t lose flavor.
you can compare the product price from Costco, wayfair, bestbuy, lowes, target, homedepot, Walmart, ebay, amazon to find the best price for you
