Questions about SF Fly Fishing Landing Net Soft Rubber Mesh Trout Net Catch and Release Net
Q:
what are the dimensions of this item
Answer: 24.5" long X 10.5 wide (Nice net)
Answer: This net is way too shallow dont buy it unless your only landing 10in fish otherwise its worthless
Q:
Is the rubber net firm or soft? I would consider the Bass pro White river nets to be firm (almost hard) rubber while the fishpond nets are soft rubber
Answer: Soft. I think this a great net for the price. I use it in fresh water only. Similar nets at fly shops are much more expensive.
Answer: I would consider the rubber net to be more soft than firm.
Answer: They are soft rubber netting
Answer: The net has only been used on cool days in very cold water and I would consider it firm. I suspect it will soften up when the temp rises.
Answer: I would not consider it hard. It is somewhat stiff when new, certainly different from string net, but very nice and appropriate.
Answer: Mine arrived quite soft. Had it been stiff I would have submerged it in hat water for 5 minutes to soften. As stated mine did not require that treatment. Excellent net for the price.
Answer: I would say sort.
Q:
What are the hoop dimensions and handle size for this net?
Answer: Hoop size is 15" long by 9" at it's widest point and 4" and it's narrowest. It is approximately 9" deep. Handle size is 8" measured from the bottom of the web.
Answer: handle about 9", hoop 91/2 x 16". Nice net for the money
Answer: Net 15" by 9" 10" deep Handel 1 1/8" by 8 3/8"
Q:
about how deep is the netting ?
Answer: It measures approx. 9" from the top edge of the frame to the very center of the netting.
Answer: Net is 10 to 12" deep
Answer: I'd guess 8-10inches
Q:
Can I use this for 5lb largemouth bass?
Answer: Absolutely- no problem. Just landed a 4lb northern and had no trouble.
Q:
Is there option to purchase the model with the small holes?
Q:
How thick is the handle? I'm wondering how wide the flat portion is.
Answer: the flat portion is approx 1 inch and the thickness is approx 1/2 inch, hope this helps you Zach
Answer: It works fine
Q:
What is the difference with the different color magnets, looks or function?
Answer: Looks only- no functionality difference
Q:
round head or square?
Answer: Picture is exact shape I got. Squared at the top rounded at the bottom. Actual net area is 16” long by 9” max width. It’s 9” wide most of the way. At 3/4 from the top to where handle starts it tapers to 8” and then quickly down to the rounded base. Hope this helps, it’s a good net.
Answer: Just like the picture - square head with rounded corners.
Answer: It's a square head.
Answer: More like a paddle ore
Answer: More of an oval
Q:
what is the inside hoop dimensions
Answer: Roughly 151/2"x81/2"
Answer: It is 15 3/4 by 9
Q:
whats the difference between the Burl wood net and the other three nets?
Answer: look at the different type of wood on the handle. Burl is a type of wood https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burl that is unique and a bit harder the process. it adds no functionality, just a fancier fishing net.
Q:
carbon fiber net just received. where can i get the wire loop for the quick disconnect as pictured
Answer: I thought mine came with the wire loop; however, I might have had it from before. I suppose you can always order something thru Amazon.
Answer: Any decent fly shop should be able to help you out. Should be one on the back of the neck on your fly vest or chest pack harness.........
Answer: Either Bass Pro or Cabela's
Answer: Mine came with it
Q:
How are the magnetic release parts installed
Answer: Take one side of the magnet and attach it to the carabiner which can be hooked to back if your vest. Use a zip-tie and attach the other magnet piece to the top of the net. That way the handle will hang down your back, and be easier to grab.
Answer: One part attaches to a loop on the upper back of your fishing vest. Then the magnets just hook together. Very easy
Answer: They have the rings like a key ring on each side that you can connect in multiple ways. I use the S Carabiner To attach to my bag and connect the small key ring to the ‘i’ screw on the end of the net. Then also include the stretching cord to both locations too
Answer: They clip on to your net and your vest. There is a metal ring (like a key ring) for each.
Q:
The carbon fiber version appears to have smaller holes at the bottom, as opposed to the larger holes of the wooden-handled nets. Is that true?
Answer: Not sure, but the holes fit the ferrule rings just right
Q:
Are the dimensions listed in inches or centimeters?
Q:
Which option has the smaller net holes? i see option a, b, and c...? not sure which one is best for smaller fish?
Answer: I have the b and have no problems with losing fish through the holes. I think they all would work well.
Answer: I did buy the square frame. Only the frames are different sizes, the nets are probably same mesh size in all. I have netted bluegill with mine.
Q:
I was under the assumtion that the net came with the magnetoc release. I just recieved the net today and it did not. The description states it does
Answer: I ordered two, both came with magnetic release
Answer: I’m assuming there are options to order with/without the magnetic release. Obviously, the price will differ... what does your order confirmation shows for inclusion of purchase?
Answer: Mine did have the magnetic release. I would contact the supplier that Amazon uses.
Answer: Mine did. And a coil lanyard. You got a bad one, I’d return.
Answer: I got the magnet, you need to contact them.
Q:
Does the net float in the water?
Answer: Probably since it is fairly light.
Answer: yes
Q:
Where is this net manufactured?
Answer: In my opinion, if they don't say where, then it is likely made in China. LOL
Answer: China
Q:
Do these float?
Answer: Well the frame is wood so it floats somewhat- just not high in the water.
Answer: Yes
Q:
What is the overall length from end of hoop to end of handle and what is the width at the widest point of the hoop side to side?
Answer: The overall length is 24" and the width is 9". I think it is a very nice shape and size for trout fishing.
Q:
Picture appears to show a black nylon net, but descript ion says soft rubber mesh. Which is correct?
Answer: Picture is incorrect or poorly taken. The net is a soft tan rubber mesh.
Answer: It’s the soft translucent mesh.....
Answer: Mine has soft rubber
Answer: Looks like nylon
Q:
I've read the description but still don't know what the differnce is between clear A, B, or C?
Answer: I am about 99% sure (based on the photos) that A has round holes in the netting, B has rectangular holes in the netting, and C is just a net with no lanyard
Answer: It looks like it is just the color of the magnet
Answer: the net mesh is colorless and seems to stress the fish less than a corded net
Answer: I'm not sure about A, B, C, but the net itself is colorless and is a material that seems to reduce stress on the fish. I have found it to be a great net.
Q:
where is the net made?
Answer: china but it seems to be pretty well made
Q:
How much does it weigh?
Answer: Same as a standard net.
Answer: Not enough to worry about.
Q:
What is this for black ziptie
Q:
What is the difference between A and B in the selection?
Answer: There’s a different lanyard between A and B. Both still have the clip, magnet, and spiral-stretch cord. But the difference is the thin black lanyard (handle end attach vs basket end attached).
Answer: I believe it's the size of the holes in the webbing
Q:
Yeah When will the wood net and clear basket with small hexagon holes be available again?
Answer: no clue. This net works great for stream fishing
Q:
what is the difference in combo a, b, or c?
Answer: read the discriptions
Answer: read the discriptions
Q:
How well will this net stand up to heavy use in saltwater?
Answer: I can not say how well holds up in salt water, I only fish in freshwater lakes and streams
Q:
what is the weight of the net?
Answer: It isn't heavy or at least not for a wooden net. It also isn't a big net. Never had a problem landing any fish I caught
Answer: I don't have the exact weight but it is heavier than most that I have had. With that said it feels well made. Haven't even noticed the difference hanging on my back.
Answer: Maybe a pound and a half? Very well made and no problem to carry, as its fastened onto my vest.
Q:
Is it really carbon fiber or just made to look like carbon fiber?
Q:
Do you sell the net without the magnetic net release? I already have two releases.
Q:
My net's plastic netting broke within 2 months of use. can i get a replacement net or netting for my net? i purchased the net this summer. thank you
Answer: Go to your amazon order history and hit return, it will let you know if you are timely. If not wrote the manufacture.
Q:
can't see the size difference in the square head combos a, b, c, does anyone know?
Q:
I've read the description but still don't know what the differnce is between clear A, B, or C?
Answer: I am about 99% sure (based on the photos) that A has round holes in the netting, B has rectangular holes in the netting, and C is just a net with no lanyard

Q:
The metal piece with the magnet attached fell out of the bottom of the net. Is there a way to attach it or should i glue it in?
Answer: My flyclub hosts netbuilding classes. We use Gorilla Glue to adhere the metal pin to its drillhole in the bottom handle of the net.
Answer: Darn that is unfortunate. If it happened to my net I would try to glue it back into place. Next option is to replace it with a small eye hook, you’ll lose the swivel action which would stink.
Answer: I would try glue
Answer: You can try J-B Weld or super glue but I would try J-B Weld first I hope this helps
Answer: Epoxy?
Q:
Is this an American made net?
Answer: Is anything , anymore American made? This is probably a Chinese beauty! It is a great net at a great price!
Answer: I'm not sure but I do know that I'll land a rainbow trout with ease, and had a powerful magnet too
Q:
I understand the coiled wire and double magnet , but what is the small seperate lanyard for?
Answer: I use the separate lanyard around my wrist, when I can as I land the fish ;)
Answer: If you wanted to use that one instead of the coiled one
Answer: In case you didn't want to use the coiled wire.
Answer: I think it’s just another option to secure the net depending on your setup. It’s not really necessary, I didn’t use mine.
Q:
How big of a fish will it work for?
Answer: I'm not sure of how big a fish it could land. I feel that trout that are in the 5 lb and under should be no problem.
Answer: It depends on what you are fishing for. But if it's fresh water I have landed 5+ lb trout. Don't think I would take it saltwater fishing.
Answer: I landed a 21" sea trout off of a dock with ease its a pretty good size net.
Answer: Any trout under 25 inches.
Q:
I see many reviews about losing small trout so what size are the largest holes of the mesh?
Answer: I did not find this true - I fish for small native brook trout and never had a problem
Q:
What is the black ziptie used for
Answer: The "zip tie" is attached to a loop on the back of your vest and to the handle of the net. The magnets are also attached to this loop. When you pull the net off the magnetic base, the zip tie is still attached and keeps the net from floating away if you drop it in the water as it is still attached to your vest.
Q:
Is the included lanyard elastic? And how long is it?
Answer: Yes it's elastic, and total length I would say 18 to 24 inches I wear mine across my back and it stretches around me fine to net fish with out having to disconnect it for where I have it.
Answer: The lanyard is elastic and it is about 21 inches long.
Answer: Yes it is. I would say around 3 feet or so. It stretches very easily. I keep mine attached to the back of my best, and I have no issues getting fish out if the stream.
Answer: 2'
Answer: Thanks - it just might work!
Q:
It is amazing that nobody asked how much does it weigh? i would never buy a fish net without knowing its weight. yes?
Answer: I would have thought about the weight. It weighs what it weighs. But, it weighs 318 grams. Hope this helps.
Answer: I think nobody asked because it’s in the product description... 13.6oz
Q:
does thus come with the magnetic keeper?
Answer: Yes
Q:
The lanyard on the one I just purchased came apart can you send a replacement or do I need to return the net?
Q:
Has anyone purchased the Carbon Fiber version? If so, how do you like it?
Answer: Love it. Very light and large enuf for big trout.
Q:
Is there a replacement net for the square head with small holes?
Answer: I am not aware of a replacement net.
Q:
difference between round head and square head?
Answer: the only differance I can see
Product reviews of SF Fly Fishing Landing Net Soft Rubber Mesh Trout Net Catch and Release Net
Hoarse : Great net for the price
Hard to beat this item when it comes to cheap nets. It looks nice and the silicone netting is of good quality. I do understand how some people have issues with very small fish slipping through the bottom holes though. I've definitely caught trout small enough to slip through. The net should have no problem holding the average stocked trout, but small brookies and wild fingerlings might slip through. If you catch big fish this isn't something you can complain about.
chase : Nearly useless
Well constructed, durable, and magnetic attachment and lanyard work well together.
The biggest fault is the nettinh itself. Firstly, it is not very deep compared to the size of the frame. This makes it mostly good for fish 12" or less else a fish can easily jump out unless the net is held perfectly horizontal. The problem with this is that fish 12" or less will fall right through the large holes in the net. Definitely can't handle small 6' Brookies which fall straight through.
The configuration of net depth and hole size means this net is nearly useless.
Primeshopper : Good net for the money
I wanted a net that wouldn’t harm fish or get hooked up easily on my flies. The netting material is very soft and supple. The frame is the right size and shape for me. The whole unit attaches with the magnetic clip on the back of my fishing vest.
Richard : Easy to use ... great net
Extremely sturdy. Might put super glue on outside where webbing is connected for when it begins to crack but might be a while. Lightweight and LOVE the magnet!!!!
Brett Sullivan : Love this net!
I absolutely love this net and take it with me on almost every fishing trip, strapped to my Orvis sling pack. The magnet release is very strong and holds the net securely while wading and walking at fishing spots. I have even hiked through woods and terrain and the net only disconnected once because it got stuck on a tree. The net itself is very sturdy and lightweight. Hooks don't get stuck in it due to the rubber material. This net makes landing fish a breeze!
Just beware if you are planning to catch smaller fish like smaller than 12 inches, this net does have large holes and the fish can get stuck in it.
LCM : Good net, good quality
Good net, good quality. Would have given it 5 stars but for one thing: it stinks. I mean STINKS. Worst smell ever. Otherwise it's a great buy and wouldn't hesitate to order another. But I'll never let it ride in the cab of the pickup again.
Amazon Customer : Well made net but received the wrong netting
The net is well made but i ordered the silicon net with the small holes and did not receive the right netting. The netting i did receive had bigger rectangular openings in it. I thought i would give it a try and it worked as long as the fish were calm but as soon as they started wiggling they fell right through the bigger openings causing fish to hit the ground and the occasional tangle while trying to free the fish and my line. If i had received the right netting this would've been a great buy because its a very nice net just not what i ordered.
Ryan : Great Fishing net
Quality fishing net, rubber is way better than the traditional string netting. Absolutely no tangles or hooks getting caught in it. Used this net with two trout this last weekend. one 16 in and one 19 in. I think anything larger than 6 or 7 inches would be fine in this net, anything smaller you may risk it getting through the hole opening on the bottom of the net. The magnet is very strong and attached to the back on my fishing vest it is very easy to both reach and pull off as well as reattached using one hand.
PK : Love it
Feels and looks like a high quality net. Perfect for snagging small trout, and the smaller holes in the net ensure that they can't slide through as another reviewer mentioned. This net might not be deep enough if you're catching some big fish, but for the types of streams and sizes of trout I catch, this net is perfect.
simply_miller : Great net for trout 8”-16”!
I really like this net as it is light, easy to hang on my back with the magnet, and does not get hooks caught in the material.
Some smaller size pan trout have fallen through the holes of net, and one large 19”+ was hard to keep inside. But, I’m normally netting fish between 9-15” so it’s exactly what I’m looking for.
rick m : This is a decent net for the price. I've ...
This is a decent net for the price. I've used it for several months with no issues. There are a variety of attachments for it, I use the magnetic clip and the S caribiner to hook it to the back of my chest pack.
Alex Mahoney : 2nd one, loved the first but this one is already breaking
Second one I have owned. Loved the first but unfortunately left of behind at a fishing spot while camping. Bought a replacement and after one use the net is coming apart. Pretty disappointed as I was hoping to get a lot of use out of this one like I did with the first. Not sure if I will risk it and order again or worth the hassle to return. Might just use until it completely falls apart and spend some more on a better net.
chase r. marshall : Good net, but the swivel it comes with is ...
Good net, but the swivel it comes with is junk. I guess mine caught on something and broke and I didn't realize I had dropped it till i was back to camp. I had to walk a half mile back up the bank to retrieve it. The net itself is nice and worth the money.
Keagan Christensen : Great customer service pay attention to which net you get. Some are better than others.
I originally bought one version of this for fly fishing but found that version didnt work very well as anything under 12 inches slips through the holes in the net which makes this terrible for landing smaller fish, anything over 16-18 inches were difficult to land because the opening is only 16 inches and 9 inches deep. However, i messaged customer service and found that the Carbon Fiber option has both smaller holes and a larger / deeper net for landing larger fish. They helped me get a refund and exchange for the net that will help fit my needs better.
Joe_Consumer : Decent and Tangle Free
Light, floats and no more tangles! I wanted a net with a tangle free mesh. No problems with fish slipping thru the mesh since I catch big trout! This review is for the square head version net.
Follow up review. Great net and seems durable. Floats well too.
Collin Thompson : Good quality, large mesh
Net is very lightweight and the lanyard has saved it a few times already. It feels sturdy so far and the magnet on the lanyard is VERY strong. The holes in the net are just a hair to large for my application. I had about a 10" brook trout wiggle it's head out and get stuck around it's pectoral fins. I'm sure the smaller natives will have no trouble slipping through the mesh.
Stephen : Excellent choice for small trout
I almost bought a different net but then I read small fish would get their gills stuck on its larger holes. The net I purchased has small holes on the entire net, and I have had no such issues with even 3-4 inch brook trout.
Also, the magnet is powerful and works great! To reattach, I only need to reach the net behind my back. Make sure you also use the leash too, because sometimes the net will catch in a tree and detach the magnet.
Very pleased with this purchase!!!
Cameron Plantz : Looks good, feels cheap, kinda works
After unboxing I realized its not exactly what I was hoping for. The line holding the net to the frame seems super cheap and is already fraying. I have a feeling it’ll wear out quick. Key rings holding things together are junk along with the clips. Replacing with heavier key rings and zip ties. It’ll last for a month hopefully. Had the elastic band break on me while practicing with it on my back. Thankfully there wasn’t current or a fish involved. It’ll get the job done but going to need a lot of zip ties and I foresee repairs in the future.
q290378gh9f : Great net, but large holes in bottom
This is a great net. Seems well constructed, and the net material is soft, but not too soft. Feels like soft silicon rubber to me. The magnet attachment and carabiner seems strong and precise. Another reviewer mentioned the larger holes in the bottom be a problem, as a small trout can slip through there. I have to agree. Seems like a trout up to perhaps 6 or 7 inches might easily slip through. However, I think this could be mostly mitigated by keeping the trout's head away from the bottom center of the net. Time will tell, although I rarely use a net on trout that small anyway.
Amazon Customer : I like but a little shallower than expected
Bought to keep from getting hooked up in netting and never did while landing over 100 trout in 4 days. I would buy a deeper net if I bought another one - a few fish were able to flop out of the net. Heavier than my mesh nets but I think that is normal with rubber nets.
Bailey Miller : Great for the price
The magnet is very strong and the overall construction feels relatively sturdy. I am only worried about the durability of the ties that hold the net material to the spine. However, for the price, it is a very solid net for catch-and-release trout.
Frank F. : No hook tangled nets
This net has worked great, the rubber net does way better than the typical cloth type that loves to snag hooks and cause a mess when you want to get a fish back in the water quickly.

Bryan K : Cheaply made
First of all, The item showed up a day late, which seems to be happening more and more as of late with Amazon. Making me seriously reconsider my Prime membership. I guess two-day shipping actually means three or four day shipping. Anyhow, after unpacking the item, everything looked fine upon first inspection, until I actually tried it out. I connected all the rigging to the net and to my fishing vest correctly, and the first time I tried to pull the magnets apart, the 360 degree copper swivel pulled right out of the bottom of the handle, leaving me with just the net in my hand, and all the rigging still attached to my vest. Really??? Don't get me wrong, I was able to epoxy the swivel back in to place permanently, but I hate having to fix something that's brand new, that I paid good money for. I recommend looking for a quality net elsewhere.
ME : Quality for price
Great rubberized net for the money!!! My son upgraded from a nylon net that his hooks got stuck in. He is looking forward to fishing with this net!
Mike : Great value
Good quality, well made. The accessories are useful and we'll made. I wear on the back of my vest out of the way but still accessible. Anxious to see a fish in it.
BillofOhio : Poor finish
Received the net and emediatly noticed the finish was bubbled and rough around the rim. Returned it emediatly.

Brian F. : Great Net.
Great product for the money. Landed literally hundreds of trout on a recent Alaska trip, no hooked nets or tangles.
Jason R : Good but with some flaws.
The construction is good and I'm sure it's a quality net that will last for years with proper care. The only thing I don't like is the spacing of the holes in the net at the bottom, I've had smaller fish, about 8" work their way through the holes in the the bottom. They should have made the holes smaller all the way through. Looking into finding a replacement net to place in there if I can.
JP : Catch more fish!
I had a wider metal framed net that would not fit into the back pouch on my vest. I purchased this net and it has worked well in both netting fish gently as well as slipping in and out of the pouch on my vest.
John G : Very well made
The quality appears to be very good. I have not used it yet, so I will post a subsequent review once fishing season begins.
Green Bank : Good and Bad
The net looked just right it seemed to have had all the bases covered, all ,but one. The holes in the bottom of the net
bag were so large that not only a small trout, but also a medium size trout would fall right through.
So I sadly returned my useless good looking net that turned out to have a net bottom of bad design.
Fortunately for me Amazon has many more other nets to consider .
Rick Templeman : Seems well constructed
Used it last trip of ‘19 to the Sierra. Was able to attach it to my creel fairly easily. Worked well.
Rick AZ : Good net, good price
First new net in years. Appears to be well built, like the idea of new materials that areless harmful to fish. The magnetic clip and line works great, much better than old elastic versions. like net at local fishing store were twice as expensive and did not come with magnet and cord, that was $18 more.

Drew in WV : I'm a believer - It's a winner
I was reluctant to use the new net material. The material is super soft but very durable. After spending four days of heavy stream fishing, it did not let me down. No hook snags and it was easy to remove the fish. I also like the magnetic release. I latched it to the back of my fishing vest. It was out of the way but very easy to reach!

Since this was my first rubber “catch and release” trout net, I didn’t really know what to look for nor what to expect. I only knew that I didn’t want to pay big bucks for my first proper fly fishing net. Upon receiving the net, I was overall impressed with the quality. The only flaw seemed to be that the swivel that is epoxied in the end of the handle was drilled a bit crooked but still seemed to work acceptably. Otherwise, the wooden frame which appears to be alternating laminations of maple and mahogany is well crafted an clear coated. The clear silicone rubber net is attached to the frame using white nylon rope and seems quite secure. The net itself is a rectangular-ish pattern and has about a 1/8”x1/8” cross section which seems sturdy enough. Since I ordered the square head combo kit, the net came with a standard bungee cord with a metal thumb clip (that I didn’t use) and a coiled cable consisting of plastic coated braided steel cable with metal thumb clips at either end which seems to have good “memory” for retracting plus a two part (neodymium?) magnet set. Each magnet is epoxied into an aluminum housing and has a 3/4” split ring. These magnets are very strong and did well to securely hold the net while fishing and bushwhacking to get to my fishing spot. There was also a small plastic double carabiner that I didn’t use.
I set up my net to attach to my sling pack by clipping one end of the coiled cable to the bottom of my pack and the other end directly to the swivel in the handle. Like this, the coil stayed out of the way when not used but had plenty of stretch for me to reach my arm out as far as I could. I also mounted one of the magnets to the top of my pack and drilled a hole in the head of the net frame to attach the other magnet. This allowed me to carry the net (head up, handle down) high on my back and out of the water but still easily in reach when needed. As a bonus, the magnets are strong enough to “self connect” to one another behind my back yet detach with a firm downward tug.
In use, my only issues with this net was with the basket depth and the size of the net openings; when I caught a decent sized fish (13” trout) the basket wasn’t quite deep enough to secure the fish from jumping back out. Even tipping the net sideways to trap the fish it wasn’t quite enough though, grabbing the fish with the net with the net between my hand and the fish did give me a solid enough hold to finagle the hook out of its mouth. However, when catching smaller fish (7” trout) I had trouble with the openings at the bottom being too large and the struggling fish simply fell through the net openings vertically. This required me to keep flipping the net upside down and back to “recapture” it until it stopped floppping around enough to grab ahold of. This seems like an obvious design flaw since the upper portion of the net has much smaller openings (3/16”x1/2” and 1-1/8”x1/2”) while the bottom of the net has larger openings (as much as 1”x1-1/2”). I will say that I never once snagged the net on a tree limb nor on my hook, which was a notorious issue with my last (standard rope) net.
All in all, this is a decent net that looks nice and works well about 60% of the time. The accessories are good quality and functional and the construction of the rubber net seems durable enough to last for years though, if the netting does wear out, I will probably look for a slightly different style replacement net that is just a bit deeper and has smaller openings towards the bottom. Overall, this net is a good value but does have a few flaws.
RJ : Nice product
Great net solid construction. Comes with a quick clip and plenty of stretch cord for attaching it to what ever you'd like. I like that the net is rubber it's easy on the fish.
Sue Manhood : Land that fish
It holds fish, and helps you get them back in the water fast. You forget about since it is light enough it isn’t banging around while walking through stream side brush, and stays out of your way until you need it.
The included lanyard and included magnets ensure you can put it away when your done.
Brandon : Great net
I haven't experienced any problems where the net connects to the rim as is generally the problem with a cheaper net. I've landed over 40 Browns measuring anywhere from 12-20" and haven't had a problem yet. It looks like it would hold a big Laker just fine, but time will tell.
FrazeThatPays : Fish friendly but smaller fish go right through
Good looking net. Clear rubber is fish friendly & doesn't snag hooks much. Use only for fish 10" or more as smaller trout go right through the holes at the bottom. I've netted smaller trout and then had my line running through the net & a fish in the water below; NOT a fun situation to be in. Would benefit from smaller holes.
Kris : Awesome net
Much better than the nets I’ve always used. Had trouble with hooks getting in the braid of those nets. No issues with this one. Beautifully handled trout. I think it made for a better catch and release. Would definitely recommend.
DougM : Small hole net: fantastic. The 2nd time I got it right.
My FIRST net was this net but with the BIGGER RECTANGULAR holes in the bottom. Worked fine for the stocker size trout around Missouri that we fish all the time.
However, as others have mentioned, I took the net to Colorado for some high altitude trout fishing. Up high in the alpine lakes, the cut throat and lake trout can be quite small. Many trout would skip through the rectangular holes in the net bottom. No good.
Well, my first net got stolen about a year ago. I reordered the same net, but I bought the net with the SMALLER ROUND holes this time. Badda Bing! This is the ticket. Went back to Colorado this summer and caught small high alpine lake trout as well as small arctic grayling (they only thrive above about 12k feet evelation). No fish slipped through the holes.
I like the soft rubber net because your hook doesn’t snag in the net like other nylon types.
I docked one star because my brass lanyard sauce pulled out of the handle like many others have experienced. Disaster? No. Disappointing? Yes. You need a solid connection since I’m using the magnet to hold the net and you have to pull snugly to get the net to release. Eventually the brass swivel pulled out of the hole. No biggie. I just cured some thick CA glue (super glue) and jammed it back in. It has held fine since then. If it ever pulls out again, I’ll use JB weld to reconnect it.
Love this net. Love the smaller holes.
I docked one star because the swivel pulled out and I had to do the minor repair.
These nets with small holes were not easy to find 2-3yrs ago. Everyone made bets with the rectangular holes only. I’m glad the manufacturer finally is offering this net.
