Daiwa BG is equipped with a machined aluminum body and body cover providing strength and internal part stability. To increase the strength in the form of corrosion and scratch resistance, Daiwa has Black Anodized the body and body cover. The anodization process allows for better adhesion to the aluminum and will not chip or peel like a painted surface, extending the brilliant look of the BG spinning series.

OVER-SIZED DIGIGEAR (DIGIGEAR SYSTEM)

Daiwa BG spinning series have integrated the largest drive gear in the history of Daiwa spinning reels. The benefit to having this oversized gear increases gear-tooth contact points, this provides smoother and extended gear life as well as more power and increased torque.


Solid Screw-In Handle Daiwa’s Screw-in-Handle design provides zero movement or play between the main gear and handle arm. This lack of movement offers the angler both confidence and control when rotating the handle.	AIR ROTOR The Air Rotor weighs up to 15% less than ordinary rotor designs. Its unique shape reduces unnecessary weight while distributing stress more evenly throughout the rotor for maximum strength.	ABS SPOOL The ABS spool's maximized core diameter and reversed taper mean 100% useable line. No "dead" line buried in a deep core. You can fill it with line right up to the edge of the spool lip without fear of tangles. ABS cause less casting friction for longer and easier casting. The huge spool diameter line flow freely in larger coils and produces less line memory coil. Smaller spool diameter means line flows in tighter coils as well.

Answer: Yes, they can definitely be used for saltwater. These are the two biggest reels in this Daiwa reel series. These are fairly large reels with a lot of line capacity. As far as I am aware all of the Daiwa reels in the BG series can be used for both fresh water and saltwater.

Answer: I have this great reel and have 10 lb Suffix braid on mine and it works great. I am sure 5 lb would work but the ultra small diameter of braid at this test weight is hard to handle when trying to untangle knots, winding around guides, etc. Again great choice of reels.

Answer: It would be small for saltwater fish but it is certainly built to withstand the use in saltwater fishing. Smaller, less rugged species like sea trout would be fun with this reel and 10 lb braid. If used in saltwater just be sure to rinse it good after using which what you should do with all reels used for saltwater fishing.

Je n'ai pas encore eu la chance de tester le moulinet en situation de pêche dû aux lacs gelés en ce moment mais pour ce qui est de la qualité des matériaux et du roulement tout semble parfait.

Quelques petites choses qui m'agace un peu, le manche du moulinet est assez difficile a dévisser surtout dans mon cas ou je le retire a chaque fois que je ranger ma canne. Aussi, je trouve qu'il y a un petit jeu entre la branche du manche et l'embout mais vraiment rien d'énorme.

I bought the 1500, the smallest model and it is one of my best spinning reels. I fish it in saltwater as well as in fresh. and have reeled in countless bass, and all kinds of inshore saltwater fish. I paired it with a extra fast Tatula rod. The combo caught a bass on my very first cast. If you don't want to spend over $100 for a spinning reel, consider BG or the Fuego series.
