Questions about Wakeman Fishing Retractable Rubber Landing Net - 35 Inch Handle
Q:
what is diameter of holes in net
Answer: They are small like the same as any other net you would use to net large fish. It won’t work for netting minnows. I would say 1 inch by 1 inch
Q:
Is this good for catching frogs, bull frogs in particular? Thanks
Answer: it is a very deep fishing net, yet I think it would be good for catching frogs
Answer: We haven't used it for that, but I think it would work fine. The handle isn't really long, so you have to be able to get pretty close.
Answer: It may be but you would have to scare them into it. It is so big that it would be hard to swing quickly.
Q:
Would the classic net work for catching blue crab? Is the rubber netting strong enough to prevent the crabs from just snapping it with their claws?
Answer: Funny you should ask! Last weekend my husband use it for just that. He was chicken neck crabbing and I didn't see anything wrong with the net... And believe if there was he would have said so.
Q:
How long is it collapsed ?
Answer: Approximately 4 feet long
Answer: Whatever length of pole is. 2.5-3 feet. It’s an awesome net. Hooks don’t get caught up. I’ve landed a lot of fish with it. Rubber is great.
Answer: About 20”
Answer: Probably about 2’
Q:
Anyone use this bad boy to catch chickens??? Fast little bastards.
Answer: Don't think so, they are to smart, won't even work when attached to a long pole. Catch them on their roost at night. Will work for rabbits when they are busy eating, (with extended pole).
Answer: Never used it for chickens but don't know why it wouldn't work.
Q:
D0 you sale spares for this landing nets
Answer: I don’t know. I just got it so haven’t tried to get a spare.
Q:
Is it adjustable or one length?
Answer: It is one length.
Answer: One length
Answer: Yes it adjust out to one length
Answer: It’s only one length while extended, still a great net especially if you fish from the bank or have a boat. Maybe to awkward for kayak fishing tho.
Answer: Only 1 length
Answer: It has an expandable handle but only clicks into one position.
Answer: Yes it is telescopic
Q:
why does it show two different nets in the add and reviews one nylon the otherubber, one has gold handle other has silver, onesoval other is triangle
Answer: Great question! They are different sizes - there are four available - so they have different shapes and nets on them. The one that I got is the 64" largest, which has a rubber net, gold handle and more of an oval head. I think the 54" has the silver handle and more rectangular head, and the round is one of the smaller ones. Click on each size option to see if it helps clarify the pictures and sizes. I'd also report it to Amazon that the description and pictures are confusing, so they can clean it up and make it easier to understand.
Answer: Tha gold handled net is heavy and net not large enough. Nylon would be a better choice.
Answer: it looks like only the 64" one has nylon netting, when you click on the size, it will tell you. i have the rubber net, it is great ,easy to release fish and doesnt hurt them.
Answer: The one I got is round, hold handle, and rubber. It’s nice and would buy again.
Q:
i just purchased this landing net, How are they coming up with 94" in length??
Answer: I purchase the classic which does not state 94", maybe you purchased a differnt one than the 94" one?
Answer: Horrible really tiny. Worst buy.
Answer: Its junk...
Q:
How much does it weigh?
Answer: It weighs about 1 pound
Answer: It's heavier than nylon nets but we'll worth it.
Answer: I would say it's <3 lbs
Q:
handle diameter?
Answer: 2”
Q:
Is this net too much for freshwater rainbow trout? Too heavy or too big?
Answer: This net is not heavy at all i was pleasantly surprised. Too big? I guess it depends on how big the trout are i think it will work great for you.
Answer: It's a pretty big net, I use it for cats and large lm bass from my boat.
Answer: Way too large. this is a boat net that is meant for much larger fish
Answer: I bought it for lake trout.
Q:
Are the hole sizes small or large?
Answer: This is a GREAT net! Holes are right at 1”. Rubberized mesh is hook proof and easy on the fish. I could easily fit a 10 pound bass in there (if I could ever catch one)!
Answer: They are hexagons, but about the size of a quarter. Awesome net. I love it. The rubber means no stray hooks caught in the net.
Answer: Large
Answer: not too big, would suffice for most fish.
Answer: Big enough to put your fingers and thumb through.
Q:
Is it safe for Saltwater?
Answer: I would of said yes as of last week. But now no the puch bottom for the net to collapse broke. It turns out it had corroded where it is attached to the handle. I always wash it when I come back from fishing. I now just put a stainless steel bolt and nut through the handle.
Answer: Yes I use it in the ocean. Simply rinse it at end of day
Answer: I really am not sure but I would say yes, it is just rubber and aluminum. Should stand up well
Answer: Yes
Q:
What model is best for Kayak Fishing?
Answer: The one I got is quite large; for kayak, I would go with smallest one. Using mine on 16' bass boat, and even though handle is retractable, it's huge.
Q:
what is diameter of holes in netting ?
Answer: They are a six sided hexagon opening. If you can picture it, the side with the 60 degree angle is one inch between the apexes. The side with the flat sides is one half inch between the parallel sides. If it were round instead of a hexagon is would be an oval, one inch long and one half inch wide.
Answer: 1/2 to 3/4 inch
Answer: about 1/2 inch I think
Q:
Do they just sell the head, not the extension pole hanadle??
Answer: You get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing…
Answer: No they don't as far as I know. The net works great for fishing crank bait type lures. The treble hooks don't get caught in the net at all
Answer: Come with the whole set up, net an handle
Q:
What is the outside diameter of the handle?
Answer: 2”.
Q:
Will this float in the water?
Answer: yes
Q:
Can this be good for the big wahoos and tuna
Answer: Yes...not 40 pounders..but anything under it will do fine.
Answer: No much too small. Works great on Redfish and Speckled Trout.
Q:
any in stock
Q:
Would this work standing in a river or stream?
Answer: Yes it would.... decent Net for sure and not to long for your purposes'
Q:
How much weight would be too much? Would this net be strong enough to pull up a turtle with a bunch of heavy, wet muck?
Answer: Don't think so. Handle is kind of flimsy. Also, if you are trying to catch something moving good luck, the net does not pull through the water easily.
Answer: I believe it would be strong enough. we use it for walleye fishing with fish flopping around 6-8 pounds easily.
Q:
Strange question, will this work to catch a feral cat ? Shes very wild, is wise to cat traps and will not go in . I want to get her spayed, then relea
Answer: If you can’t catch the cat in a trap because “it’s too smart” what leads you to believe your agile enough to scoop it up with a fish net?
Answer: I suppose it would work it's certainly big enough, good luck.
Answer: It's possible. It's a huge net. Very sturdy, thick rubber
Answer: Yes if you’re quick enough
Answer: No
Answer: Yeah
Q:
any in stock
Q:
The pictures show three different nets and the size in the pics don't match the wording in the description. Which net and what size would I be gettin
Answer: They are all approximately the same size
Q:
What is the diameter of the handle at the grip and at the bare metal? I need to see if it will fit the pole holder on my jet ski fishing rack.
Answer: 3/4" at the handle, 1/2" at the metal. The net is 8" wide and the whole thing is 24.5" long.
Q:
How wide is it from side to side ?
Answer: About 19". Have not used it yet, but it looks to be a quality item.
Q:
Is this big enough to net fish like walleye and northern pike?
Answer: Yes, you just have to pick the betted fish up with the net held vertically , not horizontally. If not a heavier fish will break the net where the loop connects to the handle!!
Answer: Yes, No problem
Answer: yes
Q:
Would like to leave this net on my pier all spring, summer and fall. . Can she take the sun? Thanks!
Answer: The nets are great and took lots of abuse from lots of kids under age 5 but they always got put away at the end of the day. They stood up to bullfrogs, lots of sand and a few toys. Might last outside around the clock, handles are pretty sturdy too. Good luck.
Answer: It's a heavy rubber mesh. Seems to be a nice item, but I would ask your question to Wakeman re weather and sun degradation.
Answer: We leave ours out all summer-no problem so far-had 1 season only
Q:
Will thin. Net work for king salmon 20 to 30 pounds from my boat
Answer: If it will manage a 15# bass I suspect it will haul out a 20 pound fish alright. 30#s I'm not sure.
Answer: Not sure, have not used net yet,may be small for a 20 lb fish.
Q:
Does this have a replacement net?
Answer: I don't know!, As cheap as the unit is If you were to try to get a replacement from the manufacturer I would imagine it will cost you the same as the whole assembly with shipping.
Answer: It does not come with a replacement
Answer: It doesn’t come with a replacement but it is very strong. It would be hard to break.
Answer: I would imagine so. Email Wakeman with the model number and they will tell you. I have not used mine yet, but it looks pretty rugged in the original.
Q:
Is there a fish net with larger holes?
Answer: Bo
Q:
Will this net work to catch game birds out of a bird pen?
Answer: I think it will do fine.Plus the coating on the net will not cutting.
Q:
Are all styles the rubber netting?
Answer: The net is TINY.. very very small..
Product reviews of Wakeman Fishing Retractable Rubber Landing Net - 35 Inch Handle
Afugazifan : You won't be dissapointed
Extremely happy with this net. The quality is top notch. The net material feels just like the high dollar nets at the big outdoor stores. The handle is well built and the way it slides in to reduce the overall size, while minimal, is very helpful. I plan on putting this net to the test in both salt and fresh water. I'll provide updates to this review once it's been subjected to some abuse.
Joni K. : Great net
Nice and light but sturdy and well made. Handled a 20 lb catfish just fine,
Tom Costa : A+

Quaffin1 : Net developing holes after 6 months!
After 6 months noticed net had a hole. Figured I must have done something to it. So I wove some line into for repair. Next day noticed another hole on other side. This is not right, looks like it’s deteriorating or something!
L : Decent collapsible net for freshwater
I bought this net for freshwater fishing, specifically bass fishing. The retractable handle definitely saves space in my small, open hull vessel.
The net itself feels sturdy and ready to land fish. I went with the 56 inch total length since I have the room in my boat and I fish standing up only. The net opening and depth is plenty, a 5 plus pound bass would easily and safely get into the net.
My only complaint is that the actual plastic-rubber net catches the retractable handle to-and-fro, but that is minor and the net is thick.
A nice net that will serve my needs bass fishing from a boat.
Bad Mackrel : Great value, good quality
The shipping was fast, and net is better than what I was expecting. now, it is a less expensive net, but the netting is a thick rubber net. better than my previous net. its light weight, which is really what I wanted. hard to hold a rod in one hand and a heavy net in the other. Is this the best net out there? nope! but for the price, it is a great net. durable enough to last several years. tip: cut about 12" of a pool noodle and tape duct tape it to the handle. so when you kick it overboard, it will float. :)
Me : Nice net
My only complaints are minor. I wish it could lock in the storage position but doesn't. Also I wish it had a lanyard or hole for one. It seems well built. The mouth of the net is very large and it has good depth as well. Overall I'm very happy with it.
Lainey8888 : Great net for the price
This net has been a great replacement for our wire out, much more expensive nets. It is a quality product, has plenty of reach and a good size bucket for grabbing fish on the side of our bass boat. Very nice net material, doesn’t hold fish slime or hooks like other net material. It is not super compact, nor does it have the ability to adjust handle length, but for the price, that is not a fair deterrent.
Susan : Net
Good quality. Easy to use. Good for fish and doesn't hurt their fin. No tangling
Jason : I'm Impressed
I expected this net to be much smaller and lower quality for the price I paid. Equivalent nets at Cabela's and Bass Pro stores I found to be $50+
I was very surprised when I opened the package to find that the quality far exceeds the low price on Amazon. The rubber is well joined together and stretches evenly. It is also very smooth and soft - important for the fishes protection and safety for catch and release. The handle seems sturdy and durable and even collapses down for easy storage. I am well pleased.
Justine LaPlant : Great If you use it for what it was designed for.
This is a great fishing net. I got it because I often fish from a deep V boat and need some extra reach. This net works perfectly and doesn't harm the fish nearly as much as a normal net would. It works perfectly for medium sized fresh water fish (Bass, Walleye, Pike, etc.). I would NOT recommend this net for anything much bigger such as Lake Trout, Salmon, or anything bigger simply because its not nearly long enough and there's that chance that it could bend from too much weight. Use it for fish under about 15 pounds and you won't be disappointed!
Debbo : We haven't used it yet .
Seems like it will be a better bet. Bought because the net is rubber and the hooks are not supposed to get stuck in the net.
Ken Anderson : Great
Works great

Shawn0215 : Works efficiently
Feels pretty sturdy, lightweight even tho some reviews say it’s heavy, and was about to net/weigh a 14lb carp with ease. Would recommend if you don’t wanna break the bank on a $100 net.
robert waugaman : Nice net
Replaced an old style net that the lures would get severely tangled. The rubber net was a great improvement. Perfect size and price was low. First time using it, we had 4 walleye on at the same time. We landed them all and had no trouble getting the lures and fish out of the net. Would recommend to anyone who still has an nylon net in their boat.
Amazon Customer : Great gift
My dad wanted this for Father’s Day haha he loves it
TA : No more tangles!
Love this net. No more tangles. Much higher quality and supports much more weight/great stability, much better than what I was expecting for the price
Troy Johnson : Can’t be beat for the price!
Wanted a new rubber net for bass fishing, after looking at sporting goods stores and seeing how high there prices were I read reviews on this product and ordered one up. Solid product for the price! Can’t be beat from my research!! Would definitely order another.
Debbo : We haven't used it yet .
Seems like it will be a better bet. Bought because the net is rubber and the hooks are not supposed to get stuck in the net.
Catherine Thompson : Great fishing net
This net works great for landing those big catches! The telescoping handle makes it fit great in our boat. The rubber netting prevents hooks from getting tangled, which is so important! The large sized net works great for bringing in those large fish with ease.
Kim E. Molina : Well-made net
Although I am sending this back due to my not seeing the dimensions (too big for our use), it looks and feels like a very well-made net. It was packaged well, fortunately as there was some damage to the box. I took off one star because it is quite heavy. But if you are catching larger fish (not trout) this might be what you want.
Shawn0215 : Works efficiently
Feels pretty sturdy, lightweight even tho some reviews say it’s heavy, and was about to net/weigh a 14lb carp with ease. Would recommend if you don’t wanna break the bank on a $100 net.
Benjamin Boven : Well worth the $$ but HEAVIER than it appears!
Solid and sturdy but WAY heavier than it looks. Really not nimble enough to catch my chickens but the THREAT of the net is all mine need to do what I want. It's rock-solid though. Just build up your arms if you want to try swash-buckling with this beast!
Bootsie : Durable for removing leaves from coy pond
I bought this net to clean leaves and other debris from my back yard coy pond. Wet leaves are very heavy and smelly. This net is lightweight to use, but the handle is smooth and strong, and the rubberized net is strong enough to lift several pounds of leaves in one swipe and holes are the right size to let water through (to make it lighter to lift) but to hold the leaves. Looks durable.
bt : Not easy to handle with one hand
I would have given it a 5 it's an nice net accept the fact that the rubber net makes it very hard handling it with one hand while you have a fish I had no idea when I bought this net I didn't realize it would be so heavy on the end I might replace it with regular netting it would be a great net
Emma : Wouldn't buy it again
Much heavier than I expected. When I got it, a fourth of one side of the net was not around the hoop frame. Took out the screws but couldn't get it apart so had to use wire ties to hook the net on right. Net seems durable enough but not able to hold larger fish. 3 months in the field and the frame is bent from a 25lb catfish.
Steve McKim : Works
lot less tangleing than old nets
Susan : Net
Good quality. Easy to use. Good for fish and doesn't hurt their fin. No tangling

Del : Nicer and larger than I was expecting
I haven't netted a fish with it yet but it looks really nice. It's actually nicer and larger than I was expecting. I have a similar net I've used for years. The piping holding the net finally broke. I wanted a similar type rubbery net that would not fowl treble hooks and was gentle on the fish. This seemed a close replacement. However, it looks nicer and a few inches wider than my old net. Once I net a few fish, I'll update, but for now I am very pleased.

Angela : Bat catcher
Bought this as we moved into an old house and keep finding bats, this wasn’t a great choice for a bat catcher as the holes are almost too big that they could fit through if they wiggles around and the net part is a thick rubber that doesn’t move easily and gracefully through the air when catching a bat. It is the perfect length and easy to handle with a wide opening. I think it would be ideal for fish as it’s intended use. I wouldn’t recommend it for bats.
Richard Hritz : Wow.
Used it once so far and I am very pleased. Whole lot better than my mesh net, and bigger. No problem getting treble hooks out that saves a lot of time when fish are biting. Will find something that will keep it floating if dropped in water. This net surprised me for the money, I would have spent double for the same type of net in any sporting goods store. Again very pleased.
Jason Lange : It feels cheap
I haven't used it yet, but right out of the box I felt like it was made of recycled soda cans. The rubber net feels nice and sturdy, but the pole feels super weak. It's very lightweight which will make it easy to use. I'm just very concerned about the quality of the build. I'll update more after I use it.

William : Good quality, great price
Heavy duty net and strong handle. Waiting to see how it holds up in the sun and salt water
Craig B : Works well for cats up to 10lbs
We have been landing 5 to 8 pound cats with no problems. Never has a hook been caught up in the net. Wish it was a little easier to engage the ball locking mechanism into the loop.. other than that..i would buy again
JM76 : Great net!
Tested it out yesterday, worked out perfectly in my canoe. Seems a little heavy but not a deal breaker. For the money, terrific net. We'll see how it holds up!
TA : No more tangles!
Love this net. No more tangles. Much higher quality and supports much more weight/great stability, much better than what I was expecting for the price
Chris Keim : No more tangled treble hooks
It's nice to finally not spend 20 minutes untangling treble hooks out if a net. I've fished this net for a whole season and have not had a single problem with it. No tangled hooks, no issues at all.
john hill : It also makes it easy to keep your hooks form getting stuck in the ...
This net is a large opening. The net is rubber coating witch help protect the fish. It also makes it easy to keep your hooks form getting stuck in the net.
Emma : Wouldn't buy it again

Key Master : Best net I’ve owned.
Nice net. Have landed lots of fish. 12lb trout no problem. Pole sturdy. Would buy again. Recommend.
Jamie Leach : Great addition
This net is perfect for protecting the fish and keeping your lure from getting snagged.
Jason : i lost it on my 3rd trip out when it went over boardand sank like a rock
With all this net is, it does not float. i lost it on my 3rd trip out when it went over boardand sank like a rock. I would however buy again but buyer be ware, seal up both ends of the shaft and or fill with foam so you dont lose it.

Zachary : Great net, a little heavy but well made
Great net, a little heavy but well made. Good size for big fish up to 10-12 lbs. Very compact when handle is slid int0o frame of net. Cannot beat the price for this quality of net.
