Net loop is triangular as pictured.
The lip gripper is so short that if your worried about getting close to fish's teeth or mouth this will not do. Only 8" long.
Why this is Amazon choice is beyond me. Definitely not a kayak fishermen's choice.

The net seems pretty sturdy but you would t want to catch more than a medium fish with respect to the shaft strength. I like the way it folds. We actually got it to get items like cans or bottles out of the lake as we go by in our boat. It will work well for that as the handle is long enough for someone to reach over but we don’t have an awkward net and pole to find a place for when not in use.

Its pretty awesome and the lip grip is great. The only reason its not a 5 star is the mesh holes are pretty big compares to what ot appears to advertise as. The material is rubberized and makes it a bit sticky to slide i to a bag. Overall its great and very functional.
