Can you catch minnows and other smaller bait fish or are the holes too big?

Answer: Measures around 1/4” at widest spacing. Netting is approximately 3/16” squares. Should catch most minnows, I would figure.

Is the handle made of carbon fiber? We have purchased those type before for our 5 years olds and the broke right away.

Answer: The orange handle is made of plastic (feels like hard foam) and I don't believe it would break easily. The telescoping pole is aluminum and is very sturdy. My 8-year-old grandson has been using this fishing net for almost a year and I am very pleased with how well it has held up. Fishing is not permitted in the pond behind my house so he scoops up the fish then releases them.

Shopping4Deals : Great to use for Pond

So far so good. I bought this in case of emergency or when I need to check my Pond Comet & Shubunkin Goldfish for illness or examination. Seems like a very good net & prefer this over my black pond net since this one is much lighter & can move quicker through the water when trying to catch my super fast fish. I don’t know how strong or durable net would be for large Koi but do recommend for pond owners to have on hand in case you need to check your Large Comet or Shubunkin Goldfish.

Overall I'm happy with these. I bought 2. One for each of my kids. I think they're a bit expensive but I knew that when I bought them so I guess I can't complain about that. We've used them several times.
When the first arrived I was having a very difficult time extending them. After a few minutes of wrestling I got the first one to extend but not the other. I did notice that other reviews complained about this. I had to grab a pair of channel lock pliers and really twist/yank on the handle to extend it. Once I got them loose, they worked fine but there was a point where I thought I'd accidentally break them.

This is a pretty tough net! The aluminum rod is thick and the extension is just enough. My 2year old boy loves scooping up my catches with it and trying to catch minnows on the bank also. Being that the rod is metal, it is just a little bit heavier than a plastic one but I dont think you can get a tougher one made of plastic. Love it.

This is a nice, colorful fishing net. It seems sturdy and I like that it's collapsible and the handle can be unscrewed from the net (making it easy to store). The handle seems to loosen easily from the net when not in use but I always make sure to tighten it before using it and it's been just fine.

Pretty sturdy and assembles extremely easy. Will come apart for transport or easier storage on a boat. Handle is made from light blue aluminum and the foam grip should be easy to hang on to with wet hands. Net opening is a good size for most fish and should work very well for catching flying bugs like butterflies or even lighting bugs. I was able to scoop up several minnows out of my pond with It and even a couple bluegill. I would definitely recommend this net to anybody that needs a quality net that won’t take up a lot of room at an affordable price. In fact this one, when disassembled fits completely inside my Cabelas tackle bag that I use on the boat. I can see my son using it when he goes fishing with his friends.

Work and play : Sturdy, useful and a staple

This is a very sturdy net that can extend and stay extended. All you have to do is twist. I went fishing with this and the net is very good for getting through weeds and other vegetation to get your fish without getting stuck. This is definitely something that I would recommend.
