Can you catch minnows and other smaller bait fish or are the holes too big?

Answer: Measures around 1/4” at widest spacing. Netting is approximately 3/16” squares. Should catch most minnows, I would figure.

Is the handle made of carbon fiber? We have purchased those type before for our 5 years olds and the broke right away.

Answer: The orange handle is made of plastic (feels like hard foam) and I don't believe it would break easily. The telescoping pole is aluminum and is very sturdy. My 8-year-old grandson has been using this fishing net for almost a year and I am very pleased with how well it has held up. Fishing is not permitted in the pond behind my house so he scoops up the fish then releases them.

Very happy with these nets. I started getting two of my grandsons these nets and they loved them-for bugs and at the pond. Then another grandson wanted to know where his net was, so bought one more. Then decided to get two more for upcoming birthday for two more grandsons! They're having so much fun with them and they've held up well with 4 and 5 year olds.

I purchased this for my son and the first time he used it for a few weeks before the handle broke. I didn't think much of that as it was heavily used. But the second time I purchased it was very recently, thinking that it had served us well previously. We damaged the net portion ourselves so I was unable to return it, but the handle also broke in 3 pieces by the second day. Because I had snagged the net part I promised my son to replace the net, and yet again ordered a replacement. This lasted for one use before the pole broke again. The issue is in two places - at the connection point with the pole & net, and at the adjustment point on the pole. It does not last. The net itself is good however.

This is a pretty tough net! The aluminum rod is thick and the extension is just enough. My 2year old boy loves scooping up my catches with it and trying to catch minnows on the bank also. Being that the rod is metal, it is just a little bit heavier than a plastic one but I dont think you can get a tougher one made of plastic. Love it.

This net is excellent for kids and adults that are looking to be able to catch minnows and baby panfish first bait or even for landing panfish or trout. It breaks down really nicely so it easily fits in a standard size backpack. The net is heavier than it looks because of its all metal construction outside of the joint but it is still plenty light for backpacking trips. So far it seems plenty durable catching smaller baitfish but I have not tried to land anything larger than a bluegill with it. I would have absolutely loved this net when I was a kid trying to catch frogs and snakes and turtles. It is 1000x better than any Walmart butterfly net and it doesn’t cost too much more.

We would be very happy with this net only if it would turn to open to make it longer. We literally have to get tools out to turn it which is ridiculous. Each time we try to turn it with our hands, the only thing that turns is the net itself and then that comes off. It's a kids fishing net, should be much easier to make it longer. This net was better than expected. Sturdy, quality materials and handle grips make it great for crabbing. It could also be a sand flea sifter depending on how the material holds over time. Recommendation for improvement: a tighter "lock" on the handle. The way we dip and twist could make it challenging to keep the handle extended. Seems durable and kids will love it. Highly recommended.

This kids net is built tough for kids. The aluminum pole adjust in length but doesn't lose any stability. I held it on the edge of the table and put a gallon of water in the net and it held up without tearing or bending the pole. It's great for kids and will make fishing fun.
