would this be any good for measuring lighter fish

Answer: Less than 3 lbs no this would not work. Over that it does a good job. I mostly use it to lip the fish so I don't touch them, if I am going to release them. I try not to touch them at all if I can so they will do the best they can when released. I hope this helps.

Answer: Completely unreliable! If the scale showed it all it registered only one pound until I caught an 8 pound Fish and it moved to my great surprise. It waste of money.

Answer: No, the head does not rotate. The fish I've used it on have been fairly tired and not thrashing around too much. Even if they do jump around I don't see it damaging the jaw of the fish based on the way it is designed.

Answer: It has a foam hand grip with a plastic finger pull.. the jaws that grab the fish are just metal.. the fish grips work very well as I have used them a lot.

Great product!
Caught a 12+ lb carp. Able to quickly use the grabber and pull up the catch.
After awhile of holding the fish in the grabber and taking some selfies, the fishes jaw tore.
My first Carp, not sure if expected or what but it did still hold the fish!

Held onto the catch, easy to hold, easy to grab. Built in scale was useful to gauge the catch and was accurate.
Stylish, small and large enough to easily grasp. I really enjoyed using this device and will carry it with me for all future catches.

Always do my research, this fish gripper works (as the photo from Aug 2019 shows). I wish it was easier to read the weight (ideally digital) but I didn't want an expensive scale that would run out of batteries and/or fail in salt water. This is a great value and did the trick. That's a 9lbs Mahi Mahi off Martha's Vineyard/Nantucket which made for some great fish tacos!

Inadequate for the purposes for which I purchased it. Lip grabber function is just fine but the extra features have failed completely. First, the built-in scale simply reads around one pound regardless of the weight of the fish. It seems frozen in place unless pulled hard so there is no way to get an adequate weight. The second failure of a feature I need is the measuring tape. I've had this in use for a month and it is rusted out past the ability to recognize any numbers.

Nice tool to grab fish by their lips. The only problem I have with it is the scale on the tool is a bit small. At my age, small print is hard to read. Haven't had a chance to really use it but will keep it handy when fishing.

I’m naturally a skeptical person, so to see this for a few bucks cheaper than the cheapest units on the market, I was a bit hesitant. After a few failed fish landings I figured I’d by one of these things and I got to say- what a surprise. This thing is extremely well built (for the money) and applies a good amount of pressure on the lip. I’d say you’d be safe holding up a 12-15lb fish (which rarely happens for 95% of anglers). All in all, I think it’s money well spent.

Scale jams up if fish is thrashing and twists the handle even a little bit. Scale printing is small and lightly etched and hard to read. The jaws do hold on well enough on the 9 or so pound fish I tried it on. I had to estimate after the fact that it was 9lbs based on walleye length calculators because the fish thrashed around and this scale got jammed at 4lbs.

Garbage!!!! I purchased this product base on reviews. Let me tell you the real deal here. After two outings with it, the tape measure was covered in rust and the markings are falling apart. As for the rest of the unit, sure it functions fine, but it two started to rust. Find another.....

The Fiblink worked well. Caught a handful of fish around 7 lbs at the coast and none of them slipped. Weighing feature is difficult to read, but accurate. Mine came with a tape measure that was not integrated into the handle. To me this was worthless, but one could probably glue it on to a solid surface and use it. It would also be nice if the device come with a floating handle. I've seen others with a piece of foam noodle on the wrist band. This would be a good idea to keep the Fiblink from coming to rest at the bottom of the lake or bay.

Sure it rotates, it clamps, but it doesn't weigh anything! caught a huge snakehead and it didn't even budge past the 2 lb mark! No good!

It also is sharp! Snakehead did a death roll while my finger was on the handle and it cut my finger!

I fish shallow water in South Florida (Flats fishing). This is a great bargain. Note that this is shorter than the expensive brand named grip scales, but for most species I target, it will work fine...although would probably not use for toothy species :)

As part of an active fishing club, we test our scales for accuracy. This scale was dead on accurate from 1# up to 40# right out of the box.

Was fishing without a net but was able to land a big catfish by using this lip grabber. No more fish bites either. Holds securely. It’s pocket sized, so you can always have it at the ready. The wrist strap is also great for releasing fish & retaining the tools.

Used this several times on some smaller pike and it works pretty good! My only wish is that it was a little larger. I can foresee it being a little difficult to hold a larger fish with good-sized teeth while he’s thrashing back-and-forth. Still definitely worth the purchase given the low cost.

The quality is ok. This is definitely not a top shelf grabber but I believe it will work just fine for the price I paid. The handle is very comfortable but I do not think the scale built into the handle will be very accurate for weight. I am not sure if there is a way to calibrate it. If there is, please let me know.
UPDATE: This Lip Grabber works great! I was skeptical at first because of the price but now I am very happy. I caught a large rainbow trout and I had no problem holding on once I secured its lip with this grabber. The fish flailed and fought the grabber but did not go any where. I am very happy with this purchase.

This product is over priced and the hook is really small. I went to send it back and the shipping cost to send it back was half the cost of what I paid for it. This works great for picking up fish. I've used it on sheephead, redfish, pompano, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, red snapped, grouper and amberjack. It has never failed at picking up and holding fish; however, the scale IS NOT accurate at all. Great fish grabber, do not buy for scale. Still a great buy at the listed price.

For the price, you cant beat this thing. I have a pair of the original lip gripper , paid $20 for it, and while it does work, its not as easy to use as these.
As others have stated the scale accuracy is questionable at best and hard to read. Wish someone made one of these that had a digital display for the scale

I use these for catfishing. I've held up to 20lb catfish with this and they are fantastic. However due to my own error, I bent the hooks at the end and they didn't work for a while. I ended up bending them back into place and they work fantastic again! The scale doesnt work anymore probably my fault as well. Not sure that I would use them for anything over 20 lbs but you absolutely cannot beat the price for a good set of lippers.
