Answer: Less than 3 lbs no this would not work. Over that it does a good job. I mostly use it to lip the fish so I don't touch them, if I am going to release them. I try not to touch them at all if I can so they will do the best they can when released. I hope this helps.

Answer: Completely unreliable! If the scale showed it all it registered only one pound until I caught an 8 pound Fish and it moved to my great surprise. It waste of money.

Answer: No, the head does not rotate. The fish I've used it on have been fairly tired and not thrashing around too much. Even if they do jump around I don't see it damaging the jaw of the fish based on the way it is designed.

Answer: It has a foam hand grip with a plastic finger pull.. the jaws that grab the fish are just metal.. the fish grips work very well as I have used them a lot.

Hutchy : This is a well built tool and you have to buy a Boca Grip to find one better.

I have gone thru a few jaw grabbers over the years fishing for large Northern Ontario Pike. The Berkley is junk 2 of them broke. I think the same company must make the Rapala. The Mustad is a little better, but it still came apart on me. If your a Pike fisherman, you know these won't work on a large Pike (40" or larger) The Pike is just too strong and even a big guy isn't gonna be able to hold onto this if they decide to shake hard when boated. You NEVER keep a 40" Pike, so you don't want to hurt them either. BUT, all Pike fisherman know its the smaller ones that always end up causing you trouble. Sure you can manhandle them with a tight grab, if'n you can get your hand around their shoulders. But those little peckers are always the one's most likely to hurt you. LOL.

So I bought one of these AND a top of the line Boca Grip. $17 vs $100. Took both on an annual fly-in fishing trip where we catch trophy Northern Pike. One in each boat. (Boca with me most days :-) This Fiblink worked just fine. MUCH better build quality than the Berkley or Rapala. The tape measure is a nice touch, and convenient, but obviously won't last long. Who cares. This thing works. The Boca is more robust, a little bigger, longer and has a more accurate easier reading weigh scale, but at $17 this is quite a value.

Used this several times on some smaller pike and it works pretty good! My only wish is that it was a little larger. I can foresee it being a little difficult to hold a larger fish with good-sized teeth while he’s thrashing back-and-forth. Still definitely worth the purchase given the low cost.

Inadequate for the purposes for which I purchased it. Lip grabber function is just fine but the extra features have failed completely. First, the built-in scale simply reads around one pound regardless of the weight of the fish. It seems frozen in place unless pulled hard so there is no way to get an adequate weight. The second failure of a feature I need is the measuring tape. I've had this in use for a month and it is rusted out past the ability to recognize any numbers.

For the price, you cant beat this thing. I have a pair of the original lip gripper , paid $20 for it, and while it does work, its not as easy to use as these.
As others have stated the scale accuracy is questionable at best and hard to read. Wish someone made one of these that had a digital display for the scale

I recently purchased the Fiblink stainless steel portable fish lip gripper and I'm more than pleased. Thus far I have used it on 3 fish and it works as intended. There is nothing that would make me believe that this is not a quality product and it's a bargain for the price. I recommend it for any angler who wants an easy way to secure their catch, weigh it and measure it in seconds. I agree with the other reviewer that the scale graduations are a bit difficult to read with my old tired eyes.

I bought this specifically for taking with me to a fly in trip to Canada. My Father and I used it everyday for a week and it held up pretty well. We caught mainly 20-24" Walleye and Northern's up to 40"; with over 100 fish/day. The only reason I took one star off was because of the tape measure and the scale. The tape measure obtained rust pretty quickly and needs to be guided back into into the roll. Which is unfortunate because it is a really easy way to quick measure the fish to decide if they were in the slot. The scale really doesn't work well at all unless you get over 4-6 pounds. I did test it on a 6lb. weight and it did register accurately. We caught a handful of Northern's around 40" that thrashed around quite a bit, and the gripper worked perfect not letting them get loose. It also didn't destroy any lips, which is a plus. I would recommend this if you're not concerned with using the tape measure long term. I will be doing another fly in to Canada in September and am debating on trying another brand with a tape measure, unless there is some way to replace my current tape measure. For around $15 you can't go wrong. Saved us destroyed fingers for the week and an easy way to grab the fish from the water. I will update if I figure out a way to replace the tape measure or open it up and clean it up.

Nice fish grioper with scale built-in. Even comes with a waterproof tape measure which can come in handy. Overall the fish gripper feels well built and is at a good price point. I will say it seems like it does not really pick up on fish less then about 5lbs which is fine as there's not really a point to weighing fish that small. Overall, great addition to the tacklebox!

I use these for catfishing. I've held up to 20lb catfish with this and they are fantastic. However due to my own error, I bent the hooks at the end and they didn't work for a while. I ended up bending them back into place and they work fantastic again! The scale doesnt work anymore probably my fault as well. Not sure that I would use them for anything over 20 lbs but you absolutely cannot beat the price for a good set of lippers.

This is a very nice quality product. I haven't had the chance to use it much but from what I can tell it is very well manufactured and will hold up. I took a few test measurements with the built in scale and they were accurate. Also it is compact enough to fit in my tackle box so I can easily keep it with all my other supplies when I go fishing.

I will be using this on my kayak so I love the fact that it's not to big and that it was a lanyard for me to tie it onto my kayak. The lever mechanism is easy to push down with two fingers to open it. I do however wish that the numbers on the scale were more readable, maybe if they were colored and black it would be easier to read. The foam padding on the handle makes it comfortable to hold onto. All in all I'm happy with my purchase.

Its fine and will do the job. Just be careful if you take it surf fishing. I dropped it in the sand once and since then it doesn't work good. It no long slides well and sometimes gets stuck. Just keep it out of the sand and you should be fine.

I’m naturally a skeptical person, so to see this for a few bucks cheaper than the cheapest units on the market, I was a bit hesitant. After a few failed fish landings I figured I’d by one of these things and I got to say- what a surprise. This thing is extremely well built (for the money) and applies a good amount of pressure on the lip. I’d say you’d be safe holding up a 12-15lb fish (which rarely happens for 95% of anglers). All in all, I think it’s money well spent.
