It’s a decent made net and is ok if your throwing it shallowing the surf or at low tide. It’s not heavy enough for bait deeper than about 4ft it just doesn’t sink fast enough at all.

I have used this net a few times for catching bait fish and works great, but the unfortunate thing is that the net is very flimsy and developed a 2” hole at the attachment to the weights. I will return this net and try something else. I had a similar net for over 5 years before it developed a hole, the difference was the netting material.

This is not a $300 cast net... However, for the money spent it is a fantastic product. Purchased as a gift for a female friend that wanted to learn how to through a cast net. With a little bit of instruction and a few practice throws on land: She caught a grunt and a mangrove snapper on the first throw (both were released). Pretty impressive.

The best thing about this net is that it catches smaller bait and does not gill them. It opens very well, and is not too heavy. It seems to be well built and is pretty well priced. It is very difficult to fine a net with this small of a mesh!!!!

So after reading the comments I thought I would give it a try... Bad choice. The net only weighs 8.4 lbs. It is 10' long but the net opening or circumference is only 6.5-7' at best. So now you have 3.5' of net just there. Maybe my product was defective. But this net was impossible to come even close to opening a 20'diameter.

If you're using this net simply for bait, you should be OK. However if you're shrimping be sure to check state regulations on mesh size. Minimum mesh in Louisiana is 3/8", which would make this net illegal for shrimping.

I received it in a brown box and inside the box was a plastic bucket with the mesh net. the bucket did not state the size until I stripped off the plastic seal and opened the mesh net. The sizing was on the net itself, not on the bucket. It was also the wrong size when I received it. Had to send it back.
