We rented a canal house in Florida and was hoping to have fun catching fish with this. Not necessarily for bait fish but just to see what type of random fish you could catch.
There were ALWAYs fish on or around the dock. We even put in a green light and could literally see hundreds of fish school around at night.
In 2 weeks, we caught lots of fish while fishing. We caught zero fish while using this net. Granted, I am not a pro netter or anything but our fisherman friend from the area is and he also couldn't get the net to catch any fish.
It took a while to get the net to open fully but even when it did, the weights weren't enough for it to fall down fast enough to catch anything. He called this a toy net.
If you're looking to catch anything, spend a little more money on a better net.

Honestly? This hoop doesnt help at all. I ignore the hoop and throw like a normal cast net. I will buy normal cast nets or the real, actual EZ Cast Net and not the knock off in the future. I dont recommend this product.
The wrist band isnt bad and it is comfortable, well stitched, etc. but if you have big ole' manly man hands I bet it would feel tight. I'm female. The rope is a nice quality nylon; it isnt going to fall apart before your cast net wears out. I wish I got the lead and not aluminum weights so it would sink faster but they work well and are heavy for aluminum. I left them wet once for about 12 hours though... Yeah, it rusted. My mistake though. It rained and I booked it for shelter and got distracted. Dry and clean your cast net!

And half rotten... Fins stiff as a board and all those fun spines straight out. It was being held down by debris and guess what my cast net brought me? I almost lost my lunch while untangling this thing from my net. I tried to GENTLY shake it out at one point. It tore the HELL out of my net. So I cant say if the netting is super cheap and easy to break or if I just had the absolutely worse catch of the day. It catches my perch, minnows, shad, all wonderfully until I find yet another big hole that needs repaired... This net won't last me long at all thanks to the Undead Megalo-Catfish of Doom.

My review is incomplete as I have only taken it out once to see if I could throw it easier than standard nets with no ring. I can definitely throw perfect circles 99% of the time unlike my embarrassing attempts with standard nets. That being said, the net APPEARS to fall too slowly. I’m no expert and I will be trying it more, but for now I can say it LOOKS and FEELS like it functions perfectly, but I have yet to catch fish out of the 5 throws I have done.
