So for the guys that have bought this, what size would you recommend for 34” waist.

Answer: Im that size. Go with a medium. Large was to big for me.

Answer: Medium for sure. I'm 35/36" and was incorrectly sent a Large after ordering a Medium. I didn't want to bother with sending it back so I just modified mine.

can this be used to hold a trout net ?

Answer: It could hold a net, it has rings attached to the belt. You would need something to attach it ( keyring)
