Questions about FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black - FM2000-FFP
Q:
I bought this Vacuum Sealer, it is awesome, but unfortunately my sous vide was broken.Do you have any recommendations for buying it?
Answer: I bought this vacuum sealer too, but unfortunately the vacuum pump stopped working after the 3rd time I used it. My problem is when I discovered the defective vacuum pump was day 93. 3 days after the 90 day warranty.
Answer: I have owned this model since 2015. I have had to replace the handheld pump 5 times. Now the pump does not work because something broke inside the unit itself. I will replace with same model, it is the least expensive, stores in a drawer, works sans having to always replace the handheld unit. When I replaced the handheld unit the third time, I purchased three of them to keep on hand. It does work fairly well and no other models or brands get any better reviews, so this seems to be the way to go for me.
Answer: I think my sous vide is very durable, I've been using it for a year, it still works well, maybe you can choose it, the products brand is Yocool. The link is: http://a.co/4pSGqCU

Will this vacuum and seal 12" wide foodsaver bags?
Answer: Hello, this is Filip from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver FM2000. The maximum width of a bag that this unit is compatible with is 11".
Answer: The drip tray is 11.25 inches wide. I would say no, a 12inch bag won't fit but you could get creative and fold a corner before vacuuming and sealing to make it work.
Answer: The sealing strip is 12”, so it will be close. My largest bag is 11”.
Answer: very possible...but not positive...the largest I have used are 11 inch wide bags.....
Answer: Greetings: I seriously doubt that because both the sealing heater and the vacuum sealing channel are less that 12" wide. If you try, you will likely end up with creases in sealing and/or vacuum not being created.

Is the food saver fm2000 made in China or usa
Answer: Hi, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver FM2000. Our appliances are manufactured in China.
Answer: The unit does appear to be made in China. I understand your concern. What I can say about this unit is that it is a replacement for the one that I had four 20 years. I use the unit hard and have not had any problems with it. I did order the Geyron due to high reviews and found it very difficult to use and couldn't get it to perform the vacuum process. If you can get past the fact that it was made in China I do not feel that you would be disappointed in the performance of this unit.
Answer: After checking for this I realize it is made in China! Still love it!
Answer: China
Answer: Unfortunately, yes it is. It is difficult to find much that isn't.

Answer: Yes. I do it all the time.
Answer: yes it works really good
Q:
Will this vacuum & seal chip bags or only seal them without the vac?
Answer: There are models that have an option to Seal without the vacuum and are great chip bags.
Answer: I don't know never tried it. It will destroy the chips if you try to vacuum seal any bag containing them. The process removes all air from the bag and the fragile chips will be crushed. Even the bags they come in are not vacuumed.

Can i seal veggies or similar not coocked and for how long time?. i am planing a trip and bring food from my country that you can't find in usa.
Answer: You can seal just about anything even liquid. How long it will last I don't know. If you have time seal some thing up and keep a eye on it. Hope this will help you . I have meat in my freezer for over one year and it is still good.
Answer: Absolutely! You can vacuum-seal cooked and uncooked foods, like meats, vegetables, and much more. When you use our FoodSaver vacuum sealing systems and bagging material, your food will stay fresh up to 5x longer.
Answer: Your need to check if you can bring the food in. Very strict controls on agriculture products regardless of packaging.
Answer: yes you can, not sure how long.
Q:
Can i seal sauce
Answer: I don't think so, I have had lots of trouble with meat and fish because the vacuum pulls the juices into the sealing surface, sometimes even when using a paper towel to catch the juices. I am very unhappy with this product and would not recommend it. Get a unit that has tubs to put the sauce in.
Answer: We recommend that you always flash freeze meat/fish, fruits/veggies, and freeze sauce/soup solid before vac/seal because moisture will compromise the seal and can compromise the integrity of the FoodSaver altogether. Flash freeze just means you're going to put it in your freezer long enough for the outside to become solid before you vacuum seal it. This will lock the moisture in your meat and keep the FoodSaver itself from vacuuming out all the moisture and deeming it unable to seal the bags properly. This information is located under 'Food Preparation and Reheating Tips' in every FoodSaver manual.
Answer: I haven't tried it. If you were going to vacuum seal it, I would freeze it in portions and once frozen, vacuum seal those. Otherwise there would be sauce everywhere as the vacuum would suck it out. JMHO
Answer: I freeze my liquids in the big one inch silicone ice cube trays and then once frozen, I vac seal them and have had great results!
Q:
what is the accesory port used for?
Answer: If you are "Dry Canning", you can use it to suck the air out of Mason jars and seal them with dried goods inside. For instance we store dehydrated onions and peppers and put an oxygen absorber as well as a moisture absorber in the jar, then suck the air out with the accessory port's attachments that fit on top of the canning lid.
Answer: The accessory port is used for accessories like zipper bags, bottle stoppers, jar sealers, containers, etc.
Answer: The accessory port is used to use accessories like containers, jar sealers, bottle stoppers, etc.
Answer: There are containers available to attach to that port
Answer: To marinate meats or vacuum seal jars and containers.
Answer: Pulling a vacuum on one of the accessory canister and containers that are sold separately
Q:
What accessoried do i need to buy to go with the fm2000-ffp?
Answer: You can use the Bottle Stoppers, Jar Sealers, Marinator, Fresh Containers, Deli Containers, etc. Would depend on what your needs are with your FoodSaver.
Answer: Just bags, it doesn't need anything else

Answer: FoodSaver Heat Seal bags are perfect for Sous Vide cooking. We do not recommend "boiling" in the bag, however, you can "soft simmer" in temperatures up to 185F.
Q:
Does this machine cut the bags from rolls?
Answer: No, this compact FoodSaver does not have the bag cutter built-in. If the cutter is a must-have feature, we would recommend you take a look at its bier brother the FM2100.
Answer: No you have to use precut bags or cut them from the roll and seal them.
Answer: No. Must use a knife, razor or scissors.
Answer: No
Q:
does this unit include the handheld sealer attachment accessory.
Answer: Greetings: Your question isn't very clear to me. Please consider asking with a picture of that accessory. The only extra item, or accessory, that it's supplied with is a small, clear plastic hose/tube having a green plastic nozzle to connect to a container/jar having a matching inlet/port to create a vacuum similar to that in a sealable bag.
Answer: It comes with an accessory hose only.
Answer: yes, the tube attachment is included
Answer: Yes it does. However I don’t use it but I love this FoodSavor! The best!
Answer: Nope.

Q:
Are these made in the United States?
Answer: The Jarden Corporation manufactures a variety of products which are mostly manufactured in the USA, China, Korea, and Mexico. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine the location a product was manufactured prior to purchase.
Q:
will 11 x 16 inch roll fit in this machine
Answer: Yes, you can use 11in X 16 feet rolls in the FM2000.
Q:
Sometimes, it just sealed with the air stull left inside the bag. This made food easier spoil. How to make the air out completely before sealing.
Answer: That has happened to me when I have tried to use too small of a bag for what I am trying to seal and there are wrinkles in the bag at the seal line. You needed enough to make a flat seal when packaging. I seal food and many other items in this unit and it works quite well.
Answer: Mine works great. Make sure the mouth of the bag is in the drip tray. Tried to save some money by buying cheaper bags on line. These do not all seal or vacuum properly! Don't think the quilted surface on the bag lets the air out properly when tightened under the lid. The brand I am using now and with great success are from Foodvacbags.com.
Answer: Make sure that the bag is properly installed in the vacuum area,if bag is too small it won't go deep inside vacuum area
Answer: Try bigger bag leave more empty space . We have same problems sometimes , I vac ... Cancel. Vac... Cancel . untill sealed to your desired vac then seal . Works great most of the time .
Answer: I returned mine for this reason. It didn't pull enough air out even when used correctly. You have to make sure the end of the bad is within the U channel, but mine still worked sporadically.
Answer: If it was unable to suck the air out that usually means you did not have a good primary seal
Q:
what is warranty on machine ?
Answer: Great question! This FoodSaver comes with a full 5 year warranty.
Q:
How many consecutive seals can be done with this item?
Answer: The FM200 can do 15-30 consecutive seals.
Answer: Not sure either, but assume as many as you need long as you let it 'rest' 30-60 seconds between seals to cool down. I've done as many as 20 in a row with no issues. However this would BEST be answered by the Manufacture.
Answer: Not sure, it was a gift for my son n law for Christmas.
Answer: Not sure, but a lot.
Q:
are the bags boil proof? In other words can you put the bag with food in it into boiling water?
Answer: Our FoodSaver bags are good for normal sous vide cooking method with a temperature range of up to 18°5 F when sealed with FoodSaver brand vacuum sealing systems.
Answer: We used the bags with sous vide cooking and it works, of course the sous vide machine does not get to boiling. According to their website, it can be used in boiling water
Answer: My answer would be that I never tried that, but the bags are pretty thick and sturdy, so I'd be surprised if you couldn't. My guess is yes, you can.
Answer: Yes I do
Q:
how do you make a bag. does the cut have to be straight?
Answer: To make a bag, start by pulling out enough roll material for the item to be sealed and then cut it to size.
Answer: You need to figure out what size bag you need to make then add a couple inches to the length. The cut doesn't have to be perfectly straight but if it helps, you can use a ruler or something with a straight edge and mark it with a pen or marker and cut it.
Q:
Does anyone else with this machine have difficulty getting a full seal all the way across the bag after vaccuuming? This is my second one.
Answer: We're happy to help! Be sure to wait until the red sealing light goes off before you open the lid. Also, we would recommend you pre-freeze any food with moisture. Liquids/juices of fresh meats and seafood may cause the bag not get seal, as it may get wet where the sealing strip is. If you continues to experience any issues, please give us a call at our toll free number (877) 777-8042. Our hours are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and Sat 9am-6pm, EST.
Answer: I have had no problems with getting a good and complete seal.
Answer: I had a similar problem. you must wait until the red seal light goes completely out and wait a few more seconds.
Answer: Yes, occasionally. We just reseal again.
Answer: good
Answer: Good
Q:
What is the moist/dry setting on the fm2100 has that the fm 2000 does not? how do you use this setting?
Answer: The moist/dry feature adjusts the heat-seal time. When you set the FoodSaver to moist, it will take a few more seconds during the heat-seal cycle to ensure that any moisture that may be on the end of the bag gets burned off.
Answer: I've had some time to use this product since I purchased it. LOOK ELSEWHERE. There are so many problems I'm not sure how it got such a high rating.
Q:
this vacuum used 110or 220 vol I would to used in New Zealand ?
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We do not recommend using them in different countries due to the difference in voltage. Additionally, doing so will void your warranty.
Answer: it uses 110 v
Answer: Mine is 110

Answer: it does every thing it should love it
Q:

Answer: This is a terrible product that occasionally doesn't complete the seal and almost never completely creates a vacuum.
Answer: I bought this for my daughter and she loves it. Has no problems using it.
Q:
What's the most quantity of fish/meatI can seal in this?
Answer: The FM2000 is a great vacuum sealing system that is able to do 15-30 repetitive seals before a cooling period, and the amount of game/meat you can vacuum-seal will vary due to different factors.
Answer: I am not sure I understand your question, however it will depends on the size of the bag and with a roll you could make a bag as long as you want. This is my 2nd one in over 8 years and we have probably sealed tons of meat and vegetables. It also works great for resealing potato chips just don't vacuum. You can reseal almost anything cereal egg noodles bag salad exec. For some packaging you will need to stop it early to keep from melting the bag in to.

Answer: The food saver and a few sample bags. Amazon sells cheaper vacuum bags that are just as good as the foodsaver brand.
Q:
Is it compatible with 240v?
Answer: whatever it's compatible to is moot to me - the gasket to make a seal was half unstuck when I got it - haven't used it. wrote amazon to find out where/how to return it, but got no reply - it got put into the back of a closet, where it is now.
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We do not recommend using them in different countries due to the difference in voltage. Additionally, doing so will void your warranty.

Product reviews of FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black - FM2000-FFP
Penelope Pitstop : Replacement for another unit that finally quit after 15 years...
This was a replacement for my 15yo sealer that finally gave up on me, wouldn't pull a vacuum if the world depended on it :( Enough about the old unit, decided to get a reasonably close replacement for old-reliable, chose the FM2000 for simplicity in look and function -- don't need all the super-sized bells and whistles, just a good, basic unit to do the job. So far, this unit has lived up to my expectations, aside from my own learning curve: tip, look at what appear to be safety labels inside the jaw area, those are your quick-start guides. Once I figured out how to properly place the bag, everything sucked and sealed as it should.
Would I buy it again, or give it as a gift? Yes, I would in a heartbeat. What is my biggest problem in using the machine? I can't cut a straight line, never could in kindergarten and have to use a straight edge as an adult, LOL, so using the roll of make-your-own-size bag material is a challenge for me, but not an insurmountable one....had the same "problem" with my old machine, so it must be an operator issue :-)
Honestly, buying in bulk is usually overrated. Who needs a 24-unit case of great-priced steaks rotting in their fridge, right? That's what I love about having a machine like this, Costco, BJ's and Sam's are fair game for stocking up on great bulk deals, repacking those items into human-sized meal portions with this machine, and freeze them. Easy, peasy, nice and easy. Sure, you can seal other things -- copies of critical documents that go in an evac bag for those living in flood/earthquake/hurricane/wildfire/etc. areas is one good example -- but my use has only been with food stuffs.
Pro tip: others have complained about bad seals when doing items containing some fluid, like fresh steaks. Yes, this can be a problem, but I've found a simple wipe of the bag opening with a dry paper towel to remove said moisture droplets before vacuum-seal process solved that problem for me. Have not tried sealing soups or sauces, so can't recommend the tip works in all cases, obviously.
Also, make sure the bag is laying flat between the jaws. Any fold or crease in the bag along the clamp area may impede the vacuum process. If the bag seals without getting the full vacuum, I simply reseal the suspect edge and cut off the a small corner section, creating a positive opening to insert into the machine, press go and it pulls a new vacuum and seals the bag good as new. This was another problem I've had with several machines over the years, regardless of machine or bag brands, so I've learned to address it using this simple, quick 'redo' process as needed.
M. Linnevers : Perfect for the small household.
Have been a foodsaver user for years. I currently work away from home (often several months at a time) and wanted a small version of the one I have at home. I use it with generic bags instead of genuine FoodSaver bags (much cheaper) and they work just fine. I also use the jar sealers for Mason jars which I never do at home, and that has also been a boon. It keeps my food organized and fresh plus it saves a lot of room in my small apartment. I love using the FoodSaver because buying groceries for one person, one often doesn't have time to eat everything before it goes bad. This way I can vacuum seal portions of my food and store it much longer. Not only do I reduce food wastage, but it also keeps me from having to go to the grocery store as often.
DIY Gypsy : Two lemons?
Got one, wouldn’t turn on. Sent back and got a replacement. This one blinks as if overheating but has never been ran. I’m done. So very sad because normally this brand was awesome.
luckymary : I would never buy another Foodmaster!
Have another same identical as to this one. Reason I bought another one is because Port no longer worked . Hose could no longer connect. So I decided to buy an identical one. PS the new one has the same problem. Never ever could use the Port.
JCBx2 : Such a great food saver!
We are a hunting and fishing family so we are all about cutting and processing our own food. When our old food saver died out, I was nervous to shop for a new one. I had that thing down to a t and never had problems. Looking at reviews on here as well as Google, this seemed to be a fan favorite. We are so pleased with it! It works great. Fairly quiet. Not too heavy and easy to store. We had friends over helping us with meat and I made them a new customer for you! We will be recommending this to everyone. Very pleased with this product and how easy it is for us to operate.
Rick : Great as always
This is the second FoodSaver I bought and I bought it for work. We vacuum seal powder samples a lot at work and FoodSaver is just great to have. No need to preheat the rubber for sealing and vacuuming is done within 15s. Good with bags from other brands too.
Amazon Customer : Fails to work consistently! Avoid this model.
Purchased this in late 2017. Worked great for the first few months. Took care to clean and store. BUT, now it sometimes vacuum seals but mostly I go back to pull an item out of the freezer and see freezer burn, or a bag filled with air and frost. This product is now unreliable. It basically sucks. And not how it should. I would NOT buy this model. I wish I could return this and get. a new one. I've read enough reviews here to know that this is a product design defect and not a user error.
Yangz : Don’t buy! Crappy!
It was a piece of junk.so disappointed! Received the replacement for the 1st one that didn’t want to turn on. The replacement one powered on, thanks goodness! Tried to vacuum sealed a bag of shredded cheese, it vacuumed but it never sealed! What a crap! It made an ugly noise like an old car waiting to start.. The cheap one i bought in walmart works better than this food saver..Returned!
wal mart shopper : Poor quality
Quit working after 5 uses no response from manufacturer concerning warranty
Amazon Customer : Very satisfied for the money.
Works pretty good. Processed 2 deer and only had one bag not seal. I packaged slim Jim's, steaks, sausage links and ground burger, all worked well. Not a fancy unit but gets the job done. 20 second wait time between seal will slow you down a little. Cord is very short, understand most folks will leave this on counter so they wouldn't want a long cord hanging around. You will need an extension cord otherwise. Much better than the $300 cabelas that I had before.
M. L. Wilson : short cord
My previous foodsaver lasted almost 20 years. It was very good. This one might be once I figure out how to plug it in with this very short cord. You would have to be right next to an outlet to use this one. I'm very disappointed that they cut corners so much that they can't afford to put a six foot cord on these new units. I'm tempted to send it back and try something elsse.
Lil : Seems to work well and does pretty much what the other expenses ones do ...
Seems to work well and does pretty much what the other expenses ones do, it does not store you wrap inside the machine & you have to hand cut the plastic wrap, other than that is good for the price and brand. Keep in mind that if you are giving this as a gift, it does not come boxed in it's original manufacture store box with company brand or info, it's just comes in a plain brown box.
CLA : Game changer
This has changed my life, well maybe just my kitchen. I cook a lot of food Sous Vide and was vacuum sealing bags with a manual pump for awhile. Those bags were very expensive so all it took was finding this FoodSaver on sale and I thought I'd give it a shot. So glad I did, it works as described and the bags/bag rolls are so much cheaper than what I was using before. The bonus for me is being able to reseal all of the other chip bags and the like that we have laying around.

Dog Mom : very disappointed
I had a model 2244 for years and then dropped it and it sadly smashed to smithereens. I had to immediately replace it because I really enjoyed having a FoodSaver and all that you can do with it, and the old one worked so great. The only thing that annoyed me about the previous model is how much material you waste when you seal something. This model 2000 SPECIFICALLY states it has an improved design with less waste. I thought I would just get the same model that I had been happy with, but when I saw that, I was sold. NOT TRUE! In fact, the design of this model is WORSE than the one I had and it wastes MORE material. In addition, it just doesn't work well. I would say I get a good seal about 50% of the time. When using the vac/seal feature, about half the time it will run and run and run, with no observable suction in the bag like you usually see. Eventually, either it stops and seals or I manually make it seal, and either of those results in a loose seal. Yes, I know how to run it - I know a lot of people like to say you just aren't using it properly......I NEVER had this issue on my other one. Anyhow, sometimes if I cut off a corner and give it another go, it then vacuums it tighter for some reason. However, I shouldn't have to do that all the time, and, to make sure there is enough material to do that, I have to waste EVEN MORE! It also didn't seal if there was any liquid sucked into the seal area (which, yes, sometimes happens, no matter how careful you are) - the old one would still seal...I could hear the sizzle! All in all, this model seems far inferior to the previous one I had and I'm really sorry I didn't go with what I knew. Of course, this is the one time in my life I got rid of the packaging as soon as I got it so there is no returning it, or this one would be going right back. I will probably try to "suck it up" (pun intended?) for as long as I can stand it and maybe go back and get the old one again, but what a waste of money! Hopefully it is not a reflection on decreased quality of FoodSaver products.
Brimstone : Poops out around one year later
Purchased this at the beginning of 2019 to replace an older model that had run its course. Around December of 2019 it seemed to start having issues pulling a vacuum, but I was able to finagle it to pull a total vacuum and create a good deal every second it third time.
As of March 2020, it no longer pulls any sort of vacuum and the seals have been inconsistent. I've used both branded bags as well as no-frills brands, which have both operated spectacularly until I purchased this model, and have kept both sealing surface and contact surfaces clean. Either I got a unit with faulty systems that just failed, or Foodsaver definitely scrimped with this model.

V. J. Robinson : Compact, does what it is supposed to do, no bells and whistles
I have been using this food saver for a year, since I got my sous vide unit, and it's still going strong. I mostly use it for bagging food for sous vide (which is often then frozen for another day), but have also put away leftovers that we weren't going to eat right away. After a large Christmas party we had pounds of pulled pork and pulled chicken left over, far more than my husband and I could (or wanted to) eat before it went bad. Now it's all cozy in the freezer in 1-pound quantities. The most fun I've had with it, though, was when a friend who had recently moved wanted some of the plastic grocery bags from the big chain in our area. (She said that the bags from the groceries in her area were just too flimsy.) I filled up a box and looked at the cost of mailing it. Ouch. So I folded the grocery bags up, stuffed about 13 of them in a flat(ish) pile into a big vacuum bag and vacuumed all the air out. I was able to put 35 plastic bags in a large cardboard envelope from the post office. My friend was amused!

Daniel Johnson : Dead in 3 months
The machine works fine when it will work. Only had it three months for meal prep and the red light flashes and won’t go off. I’ve tried cleaning, blowing out with canned air, and nothing just flashes red when you plug it in and won’t stop. Second one I’ve bought With same issue I just thought I got a bad one first time but apparently it’s a bad model all together would not buy again.
mystery lady : Wish I had bought one sooner
I.love this thing and put bulk meat products in meal sizes for camping. The small premade bags don't hold much. I think the roll you get and cut to what size you need is the way to go. I really do not see where a more expensive item could be much better unless they come with more bags. I garden alot and see that next year I will be doing more freezing than canning.
Aloe : Terrible
Weak suction from day one and completely quit working after two months and being used three times. Amazon would not accept return and I had to deal directly with FoodSaver. After a few redundant back and forth exchanges of doing the same troubleshooting steps and submitting the same information, I was told they would accept my return but I had to pay shipping. Shipping UPS and a box cost $43. FoodSaver said I could expect a replacement 3-4 weeks after they receive the broken one.
I’m now in about $130 with nothing to show for it. Never again. I should have taken advice from other reviews. For peace of mind and a quality product, look elsewhere.
L. Ebert : Much better than the old one, still some problems.
I bought this one to replace my old one. The new features are very nice, such as not having to hold the lid down and having a separate "seal only" function. We are having trouble with some bags not sealing, which is why I only gave it 4 stars. We are working on it, assuming it is operator error, but the bags that didn't seal had the problem in the same spot, so I'm wondering if it is the heat strip. We are being more careful in inspecting the seal before putting them in the freezer, and resealing them upside down if there is any doubt. Too wet of food can cause sealing problems, so if the food has a lot of water on it, we vacuum seal it, then wipe the inside top edge and seal without the vacuum. Or put a it in another bag first. If this is your first sealer, there is a learning curve to getting it right.
Mithershoe : Prevents freezer burn
Great for airtight sealing our wild mushrooms, garden produce and bulk meat purchases. Only difficulty is trying to seal items with moisture as moisture gets sucked along with air toward the edge to be sealed thus preventing a clean seal. This might be overcome with experience— there might be tricks to learn to prevent this problem. (Tips welcome!) Otherwise this allows for better food keeping — without drying out or being freezer burned. Great for our wild mushroom jerky!
jorge chapa : Paid for new, looks refurbished!?
02.28.2020 - I am under the belief that I ordered and purchased and brand new food saver. Upon opening, the item was not in the cloth new items come in. It was not in the original packaging, which I chose in the boxing options, and the item came full of dirt. It would have looked messier in the photos but I started grabbing it and shifted a lot of the dirt/dust. It was delivered today, 02.28.2020 as scheduled.
Harborlou : Effective food saver
I have owned a FoodSaver for several years and found it easy to use and effective for frozen food storage. I bought this one for my second home and was surprised that this model did not come equipped with a bag cutter since my previous model at about the same price point did. I can solve the problem; however, so I am keeping it.
AVWS : Works very well, easy on soft food.
I needed a vacuum sealer that would be gentle on soft food such as bread for freezing. This one does the trick very nicely—you can interrupt the vacuuming process and start the sealing at any point, as soon as you see that enough air has gone out, and before it starts crushing the food down. Perfect. Suction power is good, and it works like a charm. Only (minor) complaint : the electric cord is very short. Depending on where your outlets are, you may need an extension.
William E. Fox : green plastic accessory hose
as long as you don't use the unit's ball jar adapter it's a great bag sealer. If you're going to use the ball jar adapter often the green end of the adapter will most likely break (as did mine after two weeks. Poorly engineered. This business appears to have little interest in correcting the problem. After being on hold for an hour, "support" said they would send me a new hose which of course will be a repeat of the original. I have an older model foodsaver that still uses the adapter that STILL comes with the ball jar accessory kit when you order it today. Again, little attention paid to product coordination.
Niecy : A girl just trying to get her money's worth and so far so good.
I spend over $300 on holiday groceries and I hate that I end up tossing at least $75 worth of it every year. So I got this little guy with the hopes that it'll pay for itself just from my holiday food savings. I've vacuum sealed a big tub of Blue Bell ice cream, apple pie, gumbo, breakfast sausage links, and pecans; all were overages from Thanksgiving. I still had a large Costco tub of dates to store away. The gumbo, sausage, and pie were all pre-frozen then wrapped in cling wrap prior to being placed in the bags. My only complaints so far is that I wish it came with wider bag options. Getting the ice cream, still in its original tub packaging, all into the bag took work and wasted bag material. Since the tub was so wide I had to use a lot longer bagging (more than the 3 inches the company suggests) to avoid wrinkles at the sealer/ vacuum channel. I'll keep looking for wider/larger bag options or I guess another option would be to pre-freeze the ice cream in portioned scoops/ cupcake pan, wrap in cling wrap, and then vacuum seal the scoops. Might even be nice to be able to take out a few scoops and reseal, if done in a large bag leaving room for reuse/ resealing. I might not mind the waste if done that way; wouldn't even have to bother with the ice cream scoop after, hmmm. Well, I'll report back on how the seals hold up. This is a "only time will tell" product. UPDATE: I’ve had this saver for awhile now and I’m still pleased. The Thanksgiving goodies have held up and it’s now part of the whole family’s Thanksgiving routine. Pre-freezing is best for some items so I usually pre-freeze meats and high liquid veggies. I’ve also started using the jar sealer attachment for air popped popcorn trail mix mixes and I use it to reseal lettuce/greens and frozen veggie bags and chips too. Basically you can use this puppy to reseal most pantry items.

Larry Brittain : Best way to save food.
Was able to use straight out of the box. I am not a leftover eater. Now I’m able to divide entree items into two portions. The item I seal and freeze is just as fresh the day I purchased them. I believe it is the best way to save fish as the suction power is that tight there is no fish smell when you thaw and prepare fish.

Stella : Solid home cook sealer
I got it to use primarily while cooking sous vide. It works well overall (does make a pretty loud sound while vacuuming but that's not surprising). It's powerful enough and gets the job done quickly. There have been a couple of times where it didn't seal properly all the way - though that was likely to the fact that i had used a wet rub and it sucked some of it out while vacuuming, thus getting the bag a bit wet. Since then I vacuum/seal once, then wipe the edge of the bag and seal once more about 1/8 of inch away from original seal just to double seal it when using wet rubs. I do use it with the original food saver bag rolls. It is one of the more compact vacuum sealers out there and not too bulky (about 16x9x4 size)
Amazon Customer : Well worth the price!
Very easy to use and works like a charm. I've only had it for a few weeks but so far so good. I had a much older model before that lasted for awhile before finally dying out and decided to give this one a shot. Very lightweight which helps with storing it between uses and the vacuum seal is a very fast process. The non-vacuum seal feature is great for chip bags and other bags that need to be sealed from time to time.
L. Ebert : Much better than the old one, still some problems.

Jospeh Digue : nice simple and effective unit
I purchased this to replace a 10+ year old unit and am very happy with it. We use this unit weekly and purchase four additional units for gifts all with outstanding results. The one strange this was that the "free" roll of bags that came with it were manufactured backwards. If you look at the construction of the bags, one side is textured on the inside. This is done so that the vacuum doesn't collapse the bag completely and fail to remove all the air from the bag. This role however had the textured bit on the outside so the unit couldn't remove air from the item being vac/sealed. Not a big deal, but I felt bad throwing out a roll of bags.
Daisy : Items with moisture...
I purchased this January 2021. I just opened it and used it (2/25/2021)for some broccoli from the garden (central fl). I steamed the brocolli a wee bit and then used a bag that was included with the purchase. I followed the directions. It took multiple times to get it to seal. It was a bit annoying so I had to not use the vacuum, dry the top of the bag down about 3-4 inches and seal it that way. It will not seal completely if your sealing something with moisture. I also purchased rolls of plastic to make my own bags and the same thing happened. It also happened with another food item I was sealing. I do a tremendous amount of veg gardening and food preserving and I am a bit concerned this machine won’t handle the job. It works just fine for things that are dry I’m sure, but for anything with moisture it will not seal with the Vacuum as it brings moisture to the top which gets in the sealing roll area. I would Of shopped around had I known this would perform bad for items with moisture. Maybe it’s operator error. Sorry ????
Ron C : It works great. Glad I got it.
I am by myself so cook food then make meals and vacuum them. It works very good. Should of got one years ago. Only thing I learned was to insert the bag edge only to the center of the tray that catches the juice or water. Directions don't tell you that.
Jonathan Tomas : I would highly recommend purchasing the plan
I had another more expensive model for years and for all I know it is still working well for my ex wife. This cheap version broke after six months of use. I notice that now Amazon is linking it to a protection plan. Unfortunately, they did not when I purchased it. I would highly recommend purchasing the plan.
mobyd : Broke after minimal use.
Bought this item at the end of the season last year, used it two or three times. Just attempted to use it for the first time this year and it no longer extracts all the air from the bag, nor seals the bags. Waste of money!

Mikee57 : Best one so far
After buying one of the $39 units on Amazon and having it die after three months I bought this one and it is much more powerful and just seems more robust overall. I took out a four year warranty just in case. So hopefully this will work and last a long time.I previously had a food saver brand vacuum sealer it must've been 30 years old before it died. Fingers crossed on this one.
Alain R Gardner : Not Impressed, Returned It
I bought this to use with Sous Vide. The basic operation is very simple and works great with dry foods or frozen foods, but it is useless for moist food. The first thing I did when I got the Foodsaver was vacuum seal some leftover nuts from Christmas. It worked great and I was instantly impressed. I was not impressed when I tried moist foods. With moist foods, it pulls moisture up through the area that is supposed to be heat sealed, however, the heat seal isn't strong enough to seal through the moisture and leaves a tiny gap in the bag. Gap=no vacuum seal. This is a fundamental design flaw! It works with a vacuum, so it's inevitably going to pull moisture up from a moist item. Designing, building and selling a vacuum sealer that can't seal through moisture is just stupid. I hacked around trying different things and watched videos on Youtube, but got nowhere. I returned it today and ordered another one that is supposed to do better with moist stuff. The one I replaced it with has no problem sealing through the moisture. I wrote a review about that one as well.
Japers : Buttons are a problem
So I've used this machine quite a few times and it works quite well when it works. It's not overheated because I haven't used it in a few days. So, sometimes when I go to use it, I plug it in, tap the vac/seal button, it goes right to seal, the vacuuming doesn't even start. Turned off/on a few times until it works again. This happens every so often and becomes frustrating. I even tried leaving it on the counter plugged in for a few hours to no avail.
I called Foodsaver and spoke with two people, neither of which understood my question. I tried several ways of explaining this but they kept asking me what type of food am I trying to seal like that even matters for this particular issue. At that point I had no choice but to politely end the call because luckily, I'm within the return window so I'll just do that. If there's some kind of reset, I guess I'll never know.
Therefore, if you're having a similar issue, good luck calling Foodsaver.
