Questions about FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black - FM2000-FFP
Q:
I bought this Vacuum Sealer, it is awesome, but unfortunately my sous vide was broken.Do you have any recommendations for buying it?
Answer: I bought this vacuum sealer too, but unfortunately the vacuum pump stopped working after the 3rd time I used it. My problem is when I discovered the defective vacuum pump was day 93. 3 days after the 90 day warranty.
Answer: I have owned this model since 2015. I have had to replace the handheld pump 5 times. Now the pump does not work because something broke inside the unit itself. I will replace with same model, it is the least expensive, stores in a drawer, works sans having to always replace the handheld unit. When I replaced the handheld unit the third time, I purchased three of them to keep on hand. It does work fairly well and no other models or brands get any better reviews, so this seems to be the way to go for me.
Answer: I think my sous vide is very durable, I've been using it for a year, it still works well, maybe you can choose it, the products brand is Yocool. The link is: http://a.co/4pSGqCU

Will this vacuum and seal 12" wide foodsaver bags?
Answer: Hello, this is Filip from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver FM2000. The maximum width of a bag that this unit is compatible with is 11".
Answer: The drip tray is 11.25 inches wide. I would say no, a 12inch bag won't fit but you could get creative and fold a corner before vacuuming and sealing to make it work.
Answer: The sealing strip is 12”, so it will be close. My largest bag is 11”.
Answer: very possible...but not positive...the largest I have used are 11 inch wide bags.....
Answer: Greetings: I seriously doubt that because both the sealing heater and the vacuum sealing channel are less that 12" wide. If you try, you will likely end up with creases in sealing and/or vacuum not being created.

Is the food saver fm2000 made in China or usa
Answer: Hi, this is Gosia from FoodSaver Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our FoodSaver FM2000. Our appliances are manufactured in China.
Answer: The unit does appear to be made in China. I understand your concern. What I can say about this unit is that it is a replacement for the one that I had four 20 years. I use the unit hard and have not had any problems with it. I did order the Geyron due to high reviews and found it very difficult to use and couldn't get it to perform the vacuum process. If you can get past the fact that it was made in China I do not feel that you would be disappointed in the performance of this unit.
Answer: After checking for this I realize it is made in China! Still love it!
Answer: China
Answer: Unfortunately, yes it is. It is difficult to find much that isn't.

Answer: Yes. I do it all the time.
Answer: yes it works really good
Q:
Will this vacuum & seal chip bags or only seal them without the vac?
Answer: There are models that have an option to Seal without the vacuum and are great chip bags.
Answer: I don't know never tried it. It will destroy the chips if you try to vacuum seal any bag containing them. The process removes all air from the bag and the fragile chips will be crushed. Even the bags they come in are not vacuumed.

Can i seal veggies or similar not coocked and for how long time?. i am planing a trip and bring food from my country that you can't find in usa.
Answer: You can seal just about anything even liquid. How long it will last I don't know. If you have time seal some thing up and keep a eye on it. Hope this will help you . I have meat in my freezer for over one year and it is still good.
Answer: Absolutely! You can vacuum-seal cooked and uncooked foods, like meats, vegetables, and much more. When you use our FoodSaver vacuum sealing systems and bagging material, your food will stay fresh up to 5x longer.
Answer: Your need to check if you can bring the food in. Very strict controls on agriculture products regardless of packaging.
Answer: yes you can, not sure how long.
Q:
Can i seal sauce
Answer: I don't think so, I have had lots of trouble with meat and fish because the vacuum pulls the juices into the sealing surface, sometimes even when using a paper towel to catch the juices. I am very unhappy with this product and would not recommend it. Get a unit that has tubs to put the sauce in.
Answer: We recommend that you always flash freeze meat/fish, fruits/veggies, and freeze sauce/soup solid before vac/seal because moisture will compromise the seal and can compromise the integrity of the FoodSaver altogether. Flash freeze just means you're going to put it in your freezer long enough for the outside to become solid before you vacuum seal it. This will lock the moisture in your meat and keep the FoodSaver itself from vacuuming out all the moisture and deeming it unable to seal the bags properly. This information is located under 'Food Preparation and Reheating Tips' in every FoodSaver manual.
Answer: I haven't tried it. If you were going to vacuum seal it, I would freeze it in portions and once frozen, vacuum seal those. Otherwise there would be sauce everywhere as the vacuum would suck it out. JMHO
Answer: I freeze my liquids in the big one inch silicone ice cube trays and then once frozen, I vac seal them and have had great results!
Q:
what is the accesory port used for?
Answer: If you are "Dry Canning", you can use it to suck the air out of Mason jars and seal them with dried goods inside. For instance we store dehydrated onions and peppers and put an oxygen absorber as well as a moisture absorber in the jar, then suck the air out with the accessory port's attachments that fit on top of the canning lid.
Answer: The accessory port is used for accessories like zipper bags, bottle stoppers, jar sealers, containers, etc.
Answer: The accessory port is used to use accessories like containers, jar sealers, bottle stoppers, etc.
Answer: There are containers available to attach to that port
Answer: To marinate meats or vacuum seal jars and containers.
Answer: Pulling a vacuum on one of the accessory canister and containers that are sold separately
Q:
What accessoried do i need to buy to go with the fm2000-ffp?

Answer: Just bags, it doesn't need anything else

Q:
Does this machine cut the bags from rolls?
Answer: No, this compact FoodSaver does not have the bag cutter built-in. If the cutter is a must-have feature, we would recommend you take a look at its bier brother the FM2100.
Answer: No you have to use precut bags or cut them from the roll and seal them.
Answer: No. Must use a knife, razor or scissors.
Answer: No
Q:
does this unit include the handheld sealer attachment accessory.
Answer: Greetings: Your question isn't very clear to me. Please consider asking with a picture of that accessory. The only extra item, or accessory, that it's supplied with is a small, clear plastic hose/tube having a green plastic nozzle to connect to a container/jar having a matching inlet/port to create a vacuum similar to that in a sealable bag.

Answer: The Jarden Corporation manufactures a variety of products which are mostly manufactured in the USA, China, Korea, and Mexico. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine the location a product was manufactured prior to purchase.
Q:
will 11 x 16 inch roll fit in this machine
Answer: Yes, you can use 11in X 16 feet rolls in the FM2000.
Q:
Sometimes, it just sealed with the air stull left inside the bag. This made food easier spoil. How to make the air out completely before sealing.
Answer: That has happened to me when I have tried to use too small of a bag for what I am trying to seal and there are wrinkles in the bag at the seal line. You needed enough to make a flat seal when packaging. I seal food and many other items in this unit and it works quite well.
Answer: Mine works great. Make sure the mouth of the bag is in the drip tray. Tried to save some money by buying cheaper bags on line. These do not all seal or vacuum properly! Don't think the quilted surface on the bag lets the air out properly when tightened under the lid. The brand I am using now and with great success are from Foodvacbags.com.
Answer: Make sure that the bag is properly installed in the vacuum area,if bag is too small it won't go deep inside vacuum area
Answer: Try bigger bag leave more empty space . We have same problems sometimes , I vac ... Cancel. Vac... Cancel . untill sealed to your desired vac then seal . Works great most of the time .
Answer: I returned mine for this reason. It didn't pull enough air out even when used correctly. You have to make sure the end of the bad is within the U channel, but mine still worked sporadically.
Answer: If it was unable to suck the air out that usually means you did not have a good primary seal
Q:
what is warranty on machine ?
Answer: Great question! This FoodSaver comes with a full 5 year warranty.
Q:
How many consecutive seals can be done with this item?
Answer: The FM200 can do 15-30 consecutive seals.
Answer: Not sure either, but assume as many as you need long as you let it 'rest' 30-60 seconds between seals to cool down. I've done as many as 20 in a row with no issues. However this would BEST be answered by the Manufacture.
Answer: Not sure, it was a gift for my son n law for Christmas.
Answer: Not sure, but a lot.
Q:
are the bags boil proof? In other words can you put the bag with food in it into boiling water?
Answer: Our FoodSaver bags are good for normal sous vide cooking method with a temperature range of up to 18°5 F when sealed with FoodSaver brand vacuum sealing systems.
Answer: We used the bags with sous vide cooking and it works, of course the sous vide machine does not get to boiling. According to their website, it can be used in boiling water
Answer: My answer would be that I never tried that, but the bags are pretty thick and sturdy, so I'd be surprised if you couldn't. My guess is yes, you can.
Answer: Yes I do
Q:
how do you make a bag. does the cut have to be straight?
Answer: To make a bag, start by pulling out enough roll material for the item to be sealed and then cut it to size.
Answer: You need to figure out what size bag you need to make then add a couple inches to the length. The cut doesn't have to be perfectly straight but if it helps, you can use a ruler or something with a straight edge and mark it with a pen or marker and cut it.
Q:
Does anyone else with this machine have difficulty getting a full seal all the way across the bag after vaccuuming? This is my second one.
Answer: We're happy to help! Be sure to wait until the red sealing light goes off before you open the lid. Also, we would recommend you pre-freeze any food with moisture. Liquids/juices of fresh meats and seafood may cause the bag not get seal, as it may get wet where the sealing strip is. If you continues to experience any issues, please give us a call at our toll free number (877) 777-8042. Our hours are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and Sat 9am-6pm, EST.
Answer: I have had no problems with getting a good and complete seal.
Answer: I had a similar problem. you must wait until the red seal light goes completely out and wait a few more seconds.
Answer: Yes, occasionally. We just reseal again.
Answer: good
Answer: Good
Q:
What is the moist/dry setting on the fm2100 has that the fm 2000 does not? how do you use this setting?
Answer: The moist/dry feature adjusts the heat-seal time. When you set the FoodSaver to moist, it will take a few more seconds during the heat-seal cycle to ensure that any moisture that may be on the end of the bag gets burned off.
Answer: I've had some time to use this product since I purchased it. LOOK ELSEWHERE. There are so many problems I'm not sure how it got such a high rating.
Q:
this vacuum used 110or 220 vol I would to used in New Zealand ?
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We do not recommend using them in different countries due to the difference in voltage. Additionally, doing so will void your warranty.
Answer: it uses 110 v

Answer: I bought this for my daughter and she loves it. Has no problems using it.
Q:
What's the most quantity of fish/meatI can seal in this?
Answer: The FM2000 is a great vacuum sealing system that is able to do 15-30 repetitive seals before a cooling period, and the amount of game/meat you can vacuum-seal will vary due to different factors.
Answer: I am not sure I understand your question, however it will depends on the size of the bag and with a roll you could make a bag as long as you want. This is my 2nd one in over 8 years and we have probably sealed tons of meat and vegetables. It also works great for resealing potato chips just don't vacuum. You can reseal almost anything cereal egg noodles bag salad exec. For some packaging you will need to stop it early to keep from melting the bag in to.

Q:
Is it compatible with 240v?
Answer: whatever it's compatible to is moot to me - the gasket to make a seal was half unstuck when I got it - haven't used it. wrote amazon to find out where/how to return it, but got no reply - it got put into the back of a closet, where it is now.
Answer: All of our products that are sold in the United States and Canada are manufactured and UL approved for 110-120 voltage. We do not recommend using them in different countries due to the difference in voltage. Additionally, doing so will void your warranty.

Product reviews of FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer Machine with Starter Vacuum Seal Bags & Rolls, Safety Certified, Black - FM2000-FFP
OC Suds : Basic model, much better than higher end units
I love that I can decide where it's going to seal on the bag. With this model it seals where I place the plastic. The last model I had always wasted about .5-.75 inches on every edge which adds up to a lot of money over time. I previously had one of their "better models" (?model 4870) from Costco and the machine was gigantic compared to this one-taking up way more counter space than I wanted. This one is small enough I can store it vertically on the countertop so it takes up WAY less room. Also, the nipple on the wand of my previous machine broke off-it was under warranty but I had to pay return shipping to get it replaced. No thanks. I took it back to Costco, got a full refund on it and bought this for half the price. The nipple part only was not replaceable, had to replace the whole machine. With this model, the hose with nipple is completely detachable so only that can be replaced if need be.
Milton Finch : The Best Yet for the money
This is the one to buy as far as value for your buck goes. I love this machine. Makes a quick sturdy job and put the other machines to shame. Thick seal makes all the difference in the world.
Diane W. : Easy to use and works great.
We use this a lot and love it. The only thing we found is when we cooked our chicken and tried to seal the bag, it would not do it as the juice kept going up. We had to freeze the chicken for a few hours then try it again and it worked great. We are very happy with our sealer.
Yangz : Don’t buy! Crappy!
It was a piece of junk.so disappointed! Received the replacement for the 1st one that didn’t want to turn on. The replacement one powered on, thanks goodness! Tried to vacuum sealed a bag of shredded cheese, it vacuumed but it never sealed! What a crap! It made an ugly noise like an old car waiting to start.. The cheap one i bought in walmart works better than this food saver..Returned!
Kim M. : Stick with the FoodSaver brand, the others are cheap knockoffs!
I only trust FoodSaver, don't be fooled by the competition. After many trusty years, our old Foodsaver finally stopped sucking and it was time to replace it. But apparently these are not so easy to get during pandemic times so I got a competitor. Bad idea! It stopped working within weeks. Same thing happened with another one. So I bought another FoodSaver and love it. It's soooo easy to use and keeps food fresh for so long. I also use it to Sous Vide steak. Totally worth the few extra dollars to go with a trusted brand.
TLM : Buy a different brand
We purchased this in December and used it until January. We moved and just started using it again in June. We hadn't needed to use it until the last few days and it wouldn't vacuum. If you press the middle it will finally seal. Ordered replacement gaskets and NOPE still doesn't Vacuum. Buy a different brand like we will be doing!
Dog Mom : very disappointed
I had a model 2244 for years and then dropped it and it sadly smashed to smithereens. I had to immediately replace it because I really enjoyed having a FoodSaver and all that you can do with it, and the old one worked so great. The only thing that annoyed me about the previous model is how much material you waste when you seal something. This model 2000 SPECIFICALLY states it has an improved design with less waste. I thought I would just get the same model that I had been happy with, but when I saw that, I was sold. NOT TRUE! In fact, the design of this model is WORSE than the one I had and it wastes MORE material. In addition, it just doesn't work well. I would say I get a good seal about 50% of the time. When using the vac/seal feature, about half the time it will run and run and run, with no observable suction in the bag like you usually see. Eventually, either it stops and seals or I manually make it seal, and either of those results in a loose seal. Yes, I know how to run it - I know a lot of people like to say you just aren't using it properly......I NEVER had this issue on my other one. Anyhow, sometimes if I cut off a corner and give it another go, it then vacuums it tighter for some reason. However, I shouldn't have to do that all the time, and, to make sure there is enough material to do that, I have to waste EVEN MORE! It also didn't seal if there was any liquid sucked into the seal area (which, yes, sometimes happens, no matter how careful you are) - the old one would still seal...I could hear the sizzle! All in all, this model seems far inferior to the previous one I had and I'm really sorry I didn't go with what I knew. Of course, this is the one time in my life I got rid of the packaging as soon as I got it so there is no returning it, or this one would be going right back. I will probably try to "suck it up" (pun intended?) for as long as I can stand it and maybe go back and get the old one again, but what a waste of money! Hopefully it is not a reflection on decreased quality of FoodSaver products.

Signmaker : Easy to use
This is our second vacuum sealer and by far easier to use and much faster. Also, it is possible to do what we call a soft seal; that is we can seal breads without crushing the portion. This was not possible with our old one thereby allowing us to freeze soft goods without ice crystals forming on the food.
Niecy : A girl just trying to get her money's worth and so far so good.
I spend over $300 on holiday groceries and I hate that I end up tossing at least $75 worth of it every year. So I got this little guy with the hopes that it'll pay for itself just from my holiday food savings. I've vacuum sealed a big tub of Blue Bell ice cream, apple pie, gumbo, breakfast sausage links, and pecans; all were overages from Thanksgiving. I still had a large Costco tub of dates to store away. The gumbo, sausage, and pie were all pre-frozen then wrapped in cling wrap prior to being placed in the bags. My only complaints so far is that I wish it came with wider bag options. Getting the ice cream, still in its original tub packaging, all into the bag took work and wasted bag material. Since the tub was so wide I had to use a lot longer bagging (more than the 3 inches the company suggests) to avoid wrinkles at the sealer/ vacuum channel. I'll keep looking for wider/larger bag options or I guess another option would be to pre-freeze the ice cream in portioned scoops/ cupcake pan, wrap in cling wrap, and then vacuum seal the scoops. Might even be nice to be able to take out a few scoops and reseal, if done in a large bag leaving room for reuse/ resealing. I might not mind the waste if done that way; wouldn't even have to bother with the ice cream scoop after, hmmm. Well, I'll report back on how the seals hold up. This is a "only time will tell" product. UPDATE: I’ve had this saver for awhile now and I’m still pleased. The Thanksgiving goodies have held up and it’s now part of the whole family’s Thanksgiving routine. Pre-freezing is best for some items so I usually pre-freeze meats and high liquid veggies. I’ve also started using the jar sealer attachment for air popped popcorn trail mix mixes and I use it to reseal lettuce/greens and frozen veggie bags and chips too. Basically you can use this puppy to reseal most pantry items.
N B : Not nearly as finnicky as I feared
I didn't get a vacuum sealer for like, 15 years because I always got deterred by reviews that said they just didn't work or were difficult to use.
Well, I can't know if people got defective units but what I discovered is there is a short learning curve where you figure out that you have to position the edge of the bag in the *middle* of the little channel if you want the air to get sucked out of it. What I had tried to do at first is just lay it entirely across the channel so that the edge was on the opposite side and air could not be drawn out through the channel.
Once you've got that figured out, it works perfectly unless you overfill a bag. And every now and then the stuff in the bag will compress weird so that it doesn't think it's getting all the air out, but you can just manually press the seal button to interrupt its struggles.
One thing I have only remembered to do a few times, but felt cool when I did, was reseal things like bags of chips. It only works on some materials but it's nice.
I also used this to dry age meat in umai dry age bags, and store dry-aged meat in the freezer. And then I sous vide with it too. I didn't think I would use it much, but I end up using it several times a week.
Mithershoe : Prevents freezer burn
Great for airtight sealing our wild mushrooms, garden produce and bulk meat purchases. Only difficulty is trying to seal items with moisture as moisture gets sucked along with air toward the edge to be sealed thus preventing a clean seal. This might be overcome with experience— there might be tricks to learn to prevent this problem. (Tips welcome!) Otherwise this allows for better food keeping — without drying out or being freezer burned. Great for our wild mushroom jerky!
Amazon Customer : Well worth the price!
Very easy to use and works like a charm. I've only had it for a few weeks but so far so good. I had a much older model before that lasted for awhile before finally dying out and decided to give this one a shot. Very lightweight which helps with storing it between uses and the vacuum seal is a very fast process. The non-vacuum seal feature is great for chip bags and other bags that need to be sealed from time to time.

M. Acker : Broke in less than two months!
Broke in less than two months! I used the foodsaver twice and when i went to use it the third time it would not draw a vacuum at all. The two times I did use it, I had trouble getting the bags (that came with the machine) to seal and they would lose their vacuum before I could freeze them.
Valerie W. : What a RIP OFF
I ordered this from amazon. I got it and it was not in the manufactures box which should have been my first clue. that someone had already returned this item. Basically, this item is supposed to suck out the air and then seal. It had no problems sealing the bag or any bag, like a chip bag, but it would not suck out the air.
More I have read about these machines is that this model is going to fail but most people use it once, works well, put it up on a shelf and when they go to use it again, it does not work. I would avoid this model at all costs. I am currently looking for a better model and I bet I will have to spend more money to get something that will last and work properly.
Brittany : great price
We have been VERY pleased with this vacuum sealer after reading multiple reviews and testing out another one. We did spend a lot of time researching. Couldn't beat the price on this one and so far the quality has been good. I cannot speak for how long it lasts, as we don't use it a ton, just during fishing season. So I hope it holds up....but the seal is great and haven't had any issues with the vacuum.

Jonathan Tomas : I would highly recommend purchasing the plan
I had another more expensive model for years and for all I know it is still working well for my ex wife. This cheap version broke after six months of use. I notice that now Amazon is linking it to a protection plan. Unfortunately, they did not when I purchased it. I would highly recommend purchasing the plan.
Waldo : Works great
I have had this for a month now and have been using it all the time. Works great especially for preserving meat you buy on sale and freeze. The device is easy to use. This one does not come with a cutter but I just use scissors.
V. J. Robinson : Compact, does what it is supposed to do, no bells and whistles
I have been using this food saver for a year, since I got my sous vide unit, and it's still going strong. I mostly use it for bagging food for sous vide (which is often then frozen for another day), but have also put away leftovers that we weren't going to eat right away. After a large Christmas party we had pounds of pulled pork and pulled chicken left over, far more than my husband and I could (or wanted to) eat before it went bad. Now it's all cozy in the freezer in 1-pound quantities. The most fun I've had with it, though, was when a friend who had recently moved wanted some of the plastic grocery bags from the big chain in our area. (She said that the bags from the groceries in her area were just too flimsy.) I filled up a box and looked at the cost of mailing it. Ouch. So I folded the grocery bags up, stuffed about 13 of them in a flat(ish) pile into a big vacuum bag and vacuumed all the air out. I was able to put 35 plastic bags in a large cardboard envelope from the post office. My friend was amused!
Harborlou : Effective food saver
I have owned a FoodSaver for several years and found it easy to use and effective for frozen food storage. I bought this one for my second home and was surprised that this model did not come equipped with a bag cutter since my previous model at about the same price point did. I can solve the problem; however, so I am keeping it.

mystery lady : Wish I had bought one sooner
I.love this thing and put bulk meat products in meal sizes for camping. The small premade bags don't hold much. I think the roll you get and cut to what size you need is the way to go. I really do not see where a more expensive item could be much better unless they come with more bags. I garden alot and see that next year I will be doing more freezing than canning.
Alice : Warranty Service is the worst!
I have purchased 3 Foodsavers, two of this model, and one much more expensive one; two were gifts. Mine, I've had about 6 months, and although it still 'sealed' and 'vacuumed', it stopped 'vacuming and sealing'. Still under the 1 year warranty, I called the company. They not only made me run the machine near the phone she could verify my claim, but they'e now had the returned machine for about 3 weeks, and their telling me, it'll be at least another week 'for the complete inspection'! Absolutely horrible! For a $70 foodsaver, they can't just replace it?? Never again; I'm looking for another brand
Amazon Customer : Disapointed
Was very excited about this product and was kinda let down. Works very well on clear vac bags, however on mylar bags it flat out is the worst. On mylar it has a hard time getting suction and the heat seal is very weak. Would recomend for clear plasic bags but not for mylar at all.
Toni B. : Freeze it
For years I threw out good meat and other items due to freezer burn until I bought this sealer. Works great and is easy to use. I like the fact of being able to purchase the bags online to compliment this sealer. Recommend this 100%
luckymary : I would never buy another Foodmaster!
Have another same identical as to this one. Reason I bought another one is because Port no longer worked . Hose could no longer connect. So I decided to buy an identical one. PS the new one has the same problem. Never ever could use the Port.
Marty S. : Worked for 6 Months - UPDATE
UPDATE - 01.13.21 FoodSaver finally replaced my defective unit at no cost. The turnaround time was almost 4 months but we are in a pandemic so I'm happy with the results. The new unit has been working fine for 3 months.
My FN2000 worked for fine for 6 months then failed to cycle from vacuum to seal. Per Food Saver's online instructions I've replaced the seals, replaced the heating element tape, tried different bag-rolls, and left the door unlatched for 20 minutes prior to use. None of these tips worked. When I tried to call for a warranty claim a prerecorded message instructs you to use an online form for any communications. I am still waiting to hear back after submitting the form. I will update this review once I am contacted by Food Saver and have a resolution.
customer : no replacement hose availible
I got this sealer a couple of years ago, and it works well except the hose has a very fragile green tip that breaks easily. After I broke one I found out the only place to get a new one was at the Food Saver website., so I bought three. Just today when I visited the sight the replacement hose is no longer available. I used the hose to seal mason jars a lot. Fortunately I still have one left. So if you intend to use the port that requires a replacement hose it is no longer available.

Jospeh Digue : nice simple and effective unit
I purchased this to replace a 10+ year old unit and am very happy with it. We use this unit weekly and purchase four additional units for gifts all with outstanding results. The one strange this was that the "free" roll of bags that came with it were manufactured backwards. If you look at the construction of the bags, one side is textured on the inside. This is done so that the vacuum doesn't collapse the bag completely and fail to remove all the air from the bag. This role however had the textured bit on the outside so the unit couldn't remove air from the item being vac/sealed. Not a big deal, but I felt bad throwing out a roll of bags.
Amazon Customer : Fails to work consistently! Avoid this model.
Purchased this in late 2017. Worked great for the first few months. Took care to clean and store. BUT, now it sometimes vacuum seals but mostly I go back to pull an item out of the freezer and see freezer burn, or a bag filled with air and frost. This product is now unreliable. It basically sucks. And not how it should. I would NOT buy this model. I wish I could return this and get. a new one. I've read enough reviews here to know that this is a product design defect and not a user error.
JCBx2 : Such a great food saver!
We are a hunting and fishing family so we are all about cutting and processing our own food. When our old food saver died out, I was nervous to shop for a new one. I had that thing down to a t and never had problems. Looking at reviews on here as well as Google, this seemed to be a fan favorite. We are so pleased with it! It works great. Fairly quiet. Not too heavy and easy to store. We had friends over helping us with meat and I made them a new customer for you! We will be recommending this to everyone. Very pleased with this product and how easy it is for us to operate.
King Family : Works Great
I really like this machine. It is quiet and easy to use and keep clean. It conserves the bag material because you can regulate the amount to seal whereas some machines are made where you have to use more material to get it to seal. When you want to reuse a bag its much easier than other types of machines that do not open to insert bags to seal.
CLA : Game changer
This has changed my life, well maybe just my kitchen. I cook a lot of food Sous Vide and was vacuum sealing bags with a manual pump for awhile. Those bags were very expensive so all it took was finding this FoodSaver on sale and I thought I'd give it a shot. So glad I did, it works as described and the bags/bag rolls are so much cheaper than what I was using before. The bonus for me is being able to reseal all of the other chip bags and the like that we have laying around.
mamajules : Vaccuum did not work from day one!
My old food saver worked perfectly for almost 20 years. This one won't vaccuum out the air. Unfortunately, too much time has past and I can't return it. I had already thrown out all the packaging before I tried it out. I figured since my old one worked great for so long that his nice sleeker lighter model would work.
Mary Moody : Food Saver is not standing behind their products.
Like the three others I had bought before, this one does NOT work! The first 2 I ordered from Food Saver, the third I bought at Walmart, and this 4th one I ordered from Amazon. I don't expect Amazon to do anything about it, it is a Food Saver problem, which they show no interest in doing anything about; it seems they want to blame it on someone else.
silver fire : works great
This is the less expensive model, so I was alittle worried. But it works great!
Mikee57 : Best one so far
After buying one of the $39 units on Amazon and having it die after three months I bought this one and it is much more powerful and just seems more robust overall. I took out a four year warranty just in case. So hopefully this will work and last a long time.I previously had a food saver brand vacuum sealer it must've been 30 years old before it died. Fingers crossed on this one.

Stella : Solid home cook sealer
I got it to use primarily while cooking sous vide. It works well overall (does make a pretty loud sound while vacuuming but that's not surprising). It's powerful enough and gets the job done quickly. There have been a couple of times where it didn't seal properly all the way - though that was likely to the fact that i had used a wet rub and it sucked some of it out while vacuuming, thus getting the bag a bit wet. Since then I vacuum/seal once, then wipe the edge of the bag and seal once more about 1/8 of inch away from original seal just to double seal it when using wet rubs. I do use it with the original food saver bag rolls. It is one of the more compact vacuum sealers out there and not too bulky (about 16x9x4 size)
DIY Gypsy : Two lemons?
Got one, wouldn’t turn on. Sent back and got a replacement. This one blinks as if overheating but has never been ran. I’m done. So very sad because normally this brand was awesome.
carol tomlinson : Very good
This is a replacement for one that died lately. Different one, totally. I am very happy with this one's behavior. Works like a charm and needed no learning curve. My attachments even fit the jar thingy. I love freezer meals and have found that if I put up small portions in throw away tins, I can freeze same and then pop whole thing in a bag for long term freezer storage when it will be good to have choices. Sometimes it's really nice to not have to fuss a lot to have a really good meal!
Customer : Defective product and poor customer service.
I bought the FM2000 and the jar kit. The accessory port was defective. I had already registered the product so my info was on file when I contacted customer service. The agent was rude and claimed that I "must have called before with problems", due to my info being in their system. Things didn't get off to a good start. Told the Asian lady the problem and she said they would send a new kit. Told her the kit was not the problem. They sent me another kit, which was not the problem. Now they want me to ship at my expense. I am not taking the chance. 'F' them and their junk. I will use the working part of the product till it breaks, probably in the not-so-distant-future by the looks of other reviews. Was planning on adding onto it with their other products but forget that now. Done with FOODSAVER. BUYER BEWARE!!!
