Questions about Aroma Housewares Professional Food Dehydrator, 6 Tray, Black
Q:
can i make yogurt in this deydrator?
Answer: Yes, you can. Just remove the trays, put your yogurt in a container with a lid or plastic wrap on the top and set the Aroma Food Dehydrator to 115 degrees. The time it is done depends on how sour you want it and how large of a batch you are making.
Answer: Dehydrated yogurt would have to be put on an addition sheet of some sort it comes with the sheet to make fruit leather that should be ok if not just lay some wax paper on that I can't quite remember or check because it is in storage due to a recent move
Answer: You can make Yoda with this deydrator, he will the force teach you then how to use it to make Yodagurt.
Q:
Are dried apples crispy or squishy?
Answer: It Depends On A Few Variables. Initial Water Content Of The Fruit, Ambient Humidity, set Temperature Of Your Drier, thickness of the slices And Most importantly The Drying Time. If You Wish To Have A Crispy Product, You Need A Longer Drying Time Or You Could Slice The Apples Thinner Or Raise The Temperature Of The Dryer ( Which I Prefer Not To Because After 108 Degrees It Kills most of The Nutrients In The Product). If You Prefer Them To Be More Squishy, Just Do The Opposite, But Bear In Mind That Their Shelf Life Will Be Shorter Due To Moisture Content.
Answer: It depends on how thick you cut them and how long you leave them to dry. If you want them crispy, we suggest using a spiral slicer to cut them thin and evenly. To order please click on "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks! CoolShinyStuff
Answer: Crispy and very tasty. It was my first time using a dehydration machine and I was very pleased.
Answer: I bought this model as a gift, so I can't give a true answer. However, I own a dehydrator and I 7se it for jerky, pineapple and apple slices. My apples are never squishy. They are a chewy to crisp texture. Extremely yummy. I prefer to use golden delishious. They make awesome apple chips. Just make sure not to slice too thick. Also, give any dehydrator time to do its job.
Answer: I've not actually dehydrated apples yet, but seeing as what other people have posted I'd agree with them, depends on the thickness you'd cut the apples, temp., and time left in dehydrator.
Answer: I have only done kiwis, sweet potatoes, and bananas so far. I did, however, get the dehydrator cookbook and for most fruits it said to spray with lemon juice OR absorbic acid before drying. If that helps
Answer: It would depend on temp and how long you leave them in for.
Q:
are the trays plastic or metal? and what is the door made of?
Answer: The trays and door are BPA-Free material made of polypropylene (trays) and co-polyester (door) material. The door is clear and allows for the contents to be viewed, though there is no light inside the dehydrator.
Answer: The plastic the door and trays are made from is Polypropylene and is BPA free. You can see through the door.
Answer: The trays and door are made of BPA-free plastic. To order please click "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks!
Answer: Both are made from a bpa free plastic. If metal is your preference try Excalibur.
Q:
does this unit come with fruit leather tray?
Answer: Yes.
Q:
How many square feet ?
Answer: There is actually 5.5 square feet of usable surface. Each tray measures 12 x 13 inches but, has 11 X 12 inches of usable space which equals 5.5 square feet of usable space.
Answer: About 5.5 square feet. To order please click "See this seller's offer" below.
Q:
Can someone who actually owns this model, please tell me if the vent on top of the unit is able to be closed and opened freely? Thanks!
Answer: Hi there, the vent on the top of the unit is not one that can be opened and closed. It is open by design to allow the necessary air flow from the back of the unit where the fan/heater assembly are positioned, to the front of the unit, and then up the trays (chimney effect) and out the vent.
Answer: The vent does not close. It is made to stay open because the moist air has to escape for best dehydration.
Answer: Bill, so far so good. I have only used it for venison jerky twice and both times it performed flawlessly. It held about 10lbs of wet meat and I left it in overnight at 145 degrees, easy cleanup too. I have also done kale chips at 110 degrees and was very pleased with the results. I liked the jerky so much I plan on finishing all of last years venison as jerky.
Answer: The vent on top is fixed. It doesn't open and close manually.
Answer: No it is perm open
Answer: Vent does not adjust
Q:
How many watts is this dehydrator?
Answer: I checked the back, and it was labeled 400w
Answer: It operates on 400 watts.
Answer: Low wattage (400 Watts) allows for a constant temperature with varied dehydrating times.
Q:
Can I dehydrate whole hot peppers in this model?
Answer: Yes. If they are tall, you can remove a tray to give it room to fit.
Answer: Yes, if you don't want to slice them you may just need to dry them for a little longer. To order please click on "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks! CoolShinyStuff
Answer: I don't see why not. It could take a while though.
Q:
where is it made
Answer: This is made in China, like everything else in the world. It's well-built but not especially heavy for its size. It's a pretty simple device: heating element, thermostat, circulation fan(s) and a switch. The optional silicone sheets are the best thing about this product and make using it a total breeze.
Answer: The product is made in China.
Q:
Is there a timer?
Answer: This model does not have a timer but we carry an identical dehydrator made by Samson which does have a timer:
Answer: No timer.
Answer: Unfortunately, no
Q:
Is this dehydrator BPA free?
Answer: I don't know been to long since I bought it sorry
Q:
Trying to determine how this will draw on our solar power, since we're off the grid. Anyone using this off the grid?
Answer: Hi, Notalemming. I am interested in the answer to this question, too. Did you ever get this dehydrator and find out how much power it uses? Thanks so much!
Answer: Off the grid with internet? I don't think 'off the grid' means what you think it means.
Answer: Native Americans made buffalo jerky by cutting the meat into strips, stringing it up, and drying in sun.
Q:
How big is this unit, and does it have a timer?
Answer: The footprint is about 19x14, it's about 11 inches high. The 6 trays have a usable area of 11x12 each. No timer, though I saw people have used a timer from the hardware store with it. For me the food took so many varied times to dry that if I did it at night I just let it run while I slept. A little extra drying didn't hurt.
Answer: The unit dimensions are 17.7 x 13.6 x 12.4 inches. It does not have a timer. To order please click "See this seller's offer" below.
Answer: No timer
Answer: No timer and I just did 5 lbs of jerky with no problem
Answer: It doesn't have a timer... I just did 5lbs of jerky with no problem.
Q:
Does the aroma professional 6 tray food dehydrator dry horizontally or does fan blow down from top?
Answer: The fan is on the back and blows horizontally towards the front.
Answer: The Professional 6 tray food dehydrator has the fan in the back, which is preferable. The food all dries in the same time frame.
Answer: The trays are horizontal. The fan is in back of the trays. It seems to do a great job drying everything the same. I have not noticed any uneven drying.
Answer: It blows horizontally from back to front.
Answer: From the back in a circular motion, it is a pretty even flow.
Q:
In the picture there is a timer and heat selection, but there is a review saying these are not there. Is there one or not?
Answer: It has an Adjustable thermostat from 95°F - 155°F. It also has what the manufacturer calls an automatic fan. That is not an auto-shut off timer. The fan regulates the air flow in the machine, but will not automatically turn off.
Answer: The picture shows a temperature dial and an on/off switch. There is no timer. If you're interested in an identical model with a timer (for the same price) by Samson, please see this link: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=me%3DAYCJZS8TWA85P&field-keywords=Samson+Dehydrator
Answer: The correct answer is "it depends" ... on which unit you selected under "color". If you select the one indicating "digital, stainless steel trays" then yes it will have a timer, whereas if you select one of the cheaper black models with plastic trays, then it will not have a timer. Personally, I have no idea why they have models that are clearly very different listed as color variations ... it seems needless confusing. They should have been entered a separate products, and the field limited to just that ... choices of color.
Answer: There is no timer, just a temp adjuster. The temps correspond to a certain type of food. The booklet it comes with gives you an idea of how long you should dehydrate foods for.
Answer: There us no timer, wish there was.
Answer: There are two types of units, Non digital with selector switches, and the Digital unit. We ordered the digital unit and my wife likes it very much.
Answer: im sorry but i havent even taken it out of the box yet
Q:

Answer: Yes, all the materials used are BPA-free. To order (and support a family-owned small business) please click "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks!

Answer: I learned the mesh sheets are BPA free.
Answer: Yes they are bpa free

Where can I buy replacement trays?
Q:
Hello, is this good for drying almonds and seeds too? Thanks
Answer: It will dehydrate both almonds and seeds, though we recommend almonds are sliced first to allow more thorough dehydration. Almonds can still be dehydrated, but will take longer whole.
Answer: Yes, it will dehydrate almonds and seeds.
Q:
does the temperature go to 160 degrees?
Answer: It says on the description that it goes up to 155, have not measured it but given the description I would say no it does not got up to 160.
Answer: It only goes to 155 degrees
Answer: The max temp is 155.

Answer: No
Q:
how many watts is this dehydrator?
Answer: I checked the back, and it was labeled 400w

Q:
Can I order more drying trays
Q:
The fan for this unit stopped working, where can i get one to replace it. part number ha-6020m12. thanks
Answer: The fan is not available as a replacement part. It is best to contact Aroma Customer Service at 1-800-276-6286 x 1 Mon - Fri 8:30 am - 4:30 pm PST to inquire about the product warranty.
Answer: I contacted the company, and they replaced mine. I had the same thing happen to me. The customer service was wonderful. I got my new machine in a week
Answer: goolge aroma housewares and find replacement trays and they can help you
Q:
Can i set temperature just below 95 degrees? And get about 90?I want to regulate 85 to 90 degrees only for tempeh
Answer: 95 degrees is the lowest you can set it for.
Answer: 95 is the lowest. You can consider some creative ways to drop the temperature - turning the device on and off, opening the door a crack, I'll keep thinking on this one...
Answer: I believe so, the dial turns lower than 95 degrees on the unit but it's not marked with any temperature numbers lower than that. That would be a good
Answer: I do my tempeh by leaving it slightly open and I check the temperature with a thermometer regularly to adjust the opening; it works.
Q:
Where can I get additional trays?
Q:
what is the wattage on this model?
Answer: The Aroma Food Dehydrator AFD-815B operates with 400 Watts.
Answer: It's 400 watts.
Answer: 400
Answer: 400W
Q:
Is the Voltage 220v or 110v?
Answer: This is the 110V model. To order (and support a family-owned small business) please click "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks!
Answer: This listing is for a 110V machine.
Answer: 110 but it doesn't have a timer and I didn't catch that...it may not matter to you just thought I'd point it out otherwise we are very pleased
Answer: 110.
Answer: 110
Q:
This isn't a freeze dryer?
Answer: no. This is a dehydrator.
Answer: Correct, this a dehydrator. And after using it and having it replace once and needing it replaced again , i would not recommend it. I could've gotten a cheaper unit and saved the trouble
Answer: it's a dehydrater
Q:
How does the black version with plastic trays compare to the more expensive white version with stainless steel trays?
Q:
is it 220v?
Answer: It states 120v...if you are overseas you would need a step down transformer from 220 to 120 VAC ...fortunately Amazon has these.
Answer: No, this is 120V.
Answer: 120 volts
Answer: All I know is it works when I plug it in and I live in the United States, so I would think it runs with whatever our voltage is here.
Answer: No
Q:
Is there any need to use parchment paper on the trays?
Answer: If you want to dry items that are very small and liquids or if you want to make pureed fruit sheets, you will need either parchment paper or reusable Teflon or silicone fruit roll sheets.
Answer: Only if you want to make fruit leather by drying purées. The unit includes one solid sheet and one small-hole sheet, so you shouldn't need anything else unless you want to dry several trays of pureed fruit at one time. To order please click "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks!
Answer: I highly recommend it. I have tried it without and everything sticks. The parchment paper makes things MUCH easier! There are also sheets you can use that are ultra convenient too.
Answer: Haven't seen the need for it yet having dried jerky, mango, banana, & pineapple.
Answer: I've made beef jerky, potato chips and banana chips with no sticking problem.
Answer: It depends on what your dehydrating
Q:
Can you dehydrate thick cuts of bacon?
Answer: I'm not sure about that, I have not tried thick cuts of bacon. I have like the previous answer experienced the same thing with more fatty meats taking longer to dehydrate and the meat be too crispy by the time the fat dehydrates.
Answer: Have not tried but, I have put in thick cuts of beef with some fat on them. I am going to try the bacon next now but from my experience with the beef the fat does no dehydrate near as fast as the meat. Hope that helps. Loving the bacon idea though.
Q:
How much noise does this produce when on? And, is the fan from top, back or bottom?
Answer: The fan is mounted on the rear of the drying chamber. It is relatively quiet compared to other food dehydrators. To order please click "See this seller's offer" below.
Answer: The fan is on the backside.
Answer: very quiet, back. nice & easy to use. buy the tray liners, easy clean-up.
Q:
I am using this for the first time annd it seems to be taking an abnormally long time to dry. Is this normal?
Answer: Food dehydration is a marathon, not a sprint. I make medicated dog cookies using my Aroma and they take as long as 24 hours. Other things like cherry tomatoes take around 10 or 12 hours. It depends both on what you're dehydrating as well as how much. The number of pieces on the screen can also affect time to completion. How this helps a little.
Answer: Depends upon what one is drying, peachs take long time, where as doing jerky doesn't. Plus depends upon thickness one cuts stuff.
Answer: yes it depends on what your drying and how thick it is. I do jerky overnight start it at 8 it is done by 6 am
Q:
Is this product PVC free?
Answer: ???? What is that???
Q:
Is the fan located on the back of this unit or either the top or bottom?
Answer: The fan is on the back the holes on the top are for ventilation.
Answer: The fan is in back.
Answer: There are fans in the back and the top.
Answer: Ours is on the back. The unit runs well and is pleasantly quiet.
Answer: back
Answer: Back
Q:
will this work in West Africa? Precisely in Nigeria? Our Residential voltage is 240v. Thanks
Answer: No. I am not aware of a foreign voltage model for this brand.
Answer: No, this model uses 110V only.
Q:
Is it big enough to allow a loaf of bread to rise?
Answer: Without all the racks easily.
Answer: Yes,
Answer: yes
Q:
The white model says it has a timer, temperature control and stainless steel trays. Is this true? Has anyone bought this model?
Answer: Yes, there is a timer with 30 minute intervals; max is 10 hours. The unit comes with 6 steel racks and a Fahrenheit temperature gauge with 8 presets: 95 degrees, 104, 113, 122, 131, 140, 149, 158.
Q:
So it is 110 right and how loud is the fan if you are a few feet away
Answer: Yes it is 110 and as for loudness I've used mine several times and never given that a thought so apparently it's not loud enough to enoy me hope this helps you.
Answer: I agree with both previous answers, the noise is very faint it doesn't rattle or anything it is 110, and I use it for lots of things.
Answer: There is a low hum wind sound, not too loud probably about the same as a ceiling fan on medium.
Q:
On my unit, the temperature control knob has some free play on the rotation. Does anyone have the same problem?
Answer: Same here. I believe that this is normal. There is no click between the different settings. I assume so you can actually choose a temperature in between. I love the unit and use it all the time.
Q:
Does this unite come with fruit leather trays?
Answer: It does come with liners that you can make fruit leather on.
Q:
Has anyone complained of leaching from the plastic trays?
Answer: I'm not sure what you mean? What is leaching? The plastic? I have not had any trouble. When I put something in that is very wet then I put some parchment paper down first and then flip it over so both sides dry. Not really sure if that helps answer your question.
Q:
Can you make freeze dried ice cream
Answer: This is not a freeze dryer, as product is listed says, this is a dehydrator
Answer: No, this is a dehydrator. You would need a freeze drying system
Q:
I am thinking of buying one of these to replace a round design dehyrator with stacking trays that is 500 watts. Is this going to be slower to dry?
Answer: This dehydrator runs at 400 watts. Without actually testing we could not be sure it would be faster.
Q:
is this all metal or plastic?
Answer: The unit is made of BPA-free plastic. To order (and support a family-owned small business) please click "See this seller's offer" below. Thanks!
Answer: Plastic
Q:
does anyone know how to get the stink out? The plastic smell is horrible. does it get better?
Answer: The manual mentions that you should run it empty the first few times. That should get most of the smell out.
Answer: I have never had an issue with malodorous plastic shelves. I suggest you wash the shelves in soda water, rinse them with vinegar water and wipe down the inside of the unit with a soda water solution, followed by a wipe-down with plain warm water. You might also run the unit EMPTY for awhile after you have done this. I would be interested to know if this solves your problem.
Answer: I didn't notice any smell other than new smell. I've dehydrated several things in it and didn't notice any unusual taste or smell.
Answer: sorry I didn't have that problem with mine there is no odor
Q:
Do I need to purchase separate trays for fruit roll ups /leather?
Answer: Yes. You do. It comes with 1 mesh tray, but it's for smaller items. It won't work for fruit leather.
Answer: I recommend either getting a reusable sheet or parchment paper so the product wont drip through and you will be able to remove it from the trays.
Q:
Plastic taste
Answer: No plastic taste whatsoever
Answer: We bought silicon sheets, placed them in the trays, taste was spot on....
Answer: Nope, no plastic taste for us. We have done jerky, fruit and herbs. It has all been delicious.
Q:
Is there a timer on this unit?
Answer: No. You can buy a timer that you plug it into and the time gets plugged into the wall. Or try using it with out a timer. I put apples, tomato slices and more in mine after dinner and let it run all night. My food is usually done when I get up in the morning.
Answer: There is no timer.
Answer: No, but given the length of time normally required to dehydrate food items it wouldn't be practical. After you use it some you'll get an idea of how long it takes to dry different types of foods. It can take hours.
Q:
What is the selve life of dehydrated foods?
Answer:
Answer:
Answer: I honestly do not know what the shelve life is of dehydrated foods. My husband bags, dates and freezes our dehydrated foods.
Product reviews of Aroma Housewares Professional Food Dehydrator, 6 Tray, Black
Wvcollins : Great
This is perfect! Works so well. I have made dehydrated fruits and vegetables, beef jerkey, garlic powder. Still so much more to try!
Seth Reed : I would buy again and recommend to others
Works amazingly well. Very impressed with how quite this product is and how well it works
Moo : Excellent dehydrator, have used it twice so far.
I've used it to dehydrate a batch of frozen blueberries and strawberries(sticky), an apple, and can of mixed veggies, with some kale chips on the bottom. The shelves each adjust by halves so I could give the kale more space. Second batch was a can of chicken spread out on parchment paper and a pound of ground beef jerky.
It dehydrates quickly, the jerky was done in 8 hours, even the pieces on parchment. Just turned those once. Kale took 2-3 hours.
Fresh blueberries do not dehydrate well, they sure can keep their moisture inside. The frozen ones worked very well. I am guessing the blueberries need some prep first.
It's extremely quiet, just a soft fan sound. Heats up very well.
I will be getting more plastic mesh from the craft store (I heard it's only 33 cents for a square there) to do smaller items, it only comes with one sheet. Parchment did work fine though, the fan is in the back so it blows the air across, not through.
I really like the way the front slides down into the grooves. The front is clear, you can check things easily with a flashlight.
I will add to this if anything changes but I love it so far. Very glad I took a chance on this one.
atc : great dehydrator
works great. quick and large capacity
Connie Kay Baum : Looky What We are Learning: Our Food Dehydrator
We have not yet used this beauty. I washed the shelves per instructions in the book that accompanied the unit. I am very grateful we thought to order that book!. We'll be ib an odyssey and it's going to save us a ton of $. I think it is going to prove to be a very wise investment in our health. I am DELIGHTED!
Ms Curiously : Perfect cupasity
I've recently decided to eat more raw foods to better my health so I needed a dehydrator even tho I've never owned one I knew I would prefer a square dehydrator over a round one. When I went searching I discovered they are outrageously expensive. I found this aroma 6 tray with many good reviews (I purchase on Amazon based on good and bad reviews) the price was less then half for an Excalibur of about the same size. I had a camping trip planned shortly after I received it, my dehydrator ran for a wk straight with intermittent breaks so I could bring a bunch of raw goodies with me camping. The cupasity of the Aroma is perfect it can hold a bunch of kale for kale chips with no overlapping. At first I thought it was too big but after noticing how small things become w/o water I think I made the right choice for my needs (I am a single person). I hope this machine lasts a long time cause I plan to get great use from it. The trays are plastic with crisscross the spacing is bigger then I prefer so I had to purchase Teflon dehydrator sheets @ $16. a 9pk they cut to size and I use them for most things unless they are large slices or bars so that's a hastle to have to wash extra sheets between uses. The dehydrator is a decent size appliance (because of this I had limited options on placement in my kitchen) and the cord is very short so I have to use an extension cord to reach the outlet. The Aroma does not come with a temp Gage so I will have to purchase one separately no timer either but I can use my phone or oven timer. I m new to dehydrating so I have nothing to compare the Aroma to butso far its been great easy to use gets the job done and provides a means to a whole new world of food that I can't wait to try. I've learned you can make nut cheeses crackers breads wraps brownies and more by dehydrating and this is perfect for me because I am vegan dabling into raw and love the kitchen. Happy dehydrating ;-)
Amazon Customer : Used it for all sorts of fruit thus far with ...
Used it for all sorts of fruit thus far with success. Quiet and efficient, the trays all do their jobs well. I am still working in the fruit leather perfection as wax paper isn't effective thus far.
Raf : Aroma Profesional Dehidrator

I bought this a few months ago but just used it today it was a great purchase .It is quiet and has plenty of room to do large batches . Great purchase
Randy Paulson : Very slow not worth the money.
Used it for the first time and made jerky with it. Had jerky in for 7 hours and it was only half done. It is about three times slower than my old round dehydrated.
Noble Jennette : Works great.
I’ve dehydrated about 6 lbs of spicy peppers with this. The machine has been running non stop for a couple weeks and I see no issues.
Penny Morgan : Perfect
We love this dehydrator it's very quiet and does a great job. We make a lot of deer jerky and it's absolutely perfect. The best thing was the price, for such great quality.
Vanesa G. : I absolutely love this dehydrator
I absolutely love this dehydrator. It's quiet, spacious, and heavy duty. It does have a way to change the temperature, but does not have a timer. Not a big deal, considering things are going to take many hours. I just turn it off when I wake up or turn it off when I get home from work.
Jim : So easy.
Anyone can use this! Super easy, Very quiet, Easy to clean. Recommended!
DL : It’s addicting
I love it. Dried peaches, apples, jerky, herbs and zucchini. Just received my silicone mats for fruit leather
Thomas : Not to noisey. Easy to load
Not to noisey. Easy to load
wjshad : Five Stars
LOVE LOVE LOVE this product!
Amazon Customer : tasty
great overall product
Raymond Wirth : This seems to be a really good dehydrator.
I have been using mine almost daily since I got it. I really think it is great. I do wish it had a timer. I don't think you can over dehydrate, but it would be nice if it would turn off automatically. But the price was good and as long as I don't wear it out too soon, I recommend it. I would give it 5 stars if the bottom was easier to clean. Not a good design for cleaning. But don't let that stop you from buying this.
atc : great dehydrator
works great. quick and large capacity

D. Thornhill : Failed after light usage...
Bought this in March. I was quite pleased with it - it did a faster job than my old dehydrator. However after very light usage the heating element has apparently failed. The fan works fine but no warm air.
P White : Love it!
Love it! Fried food without burning it. Even if you over dry it. Doesn't have timer which I find good. Because you won't over dry it.
Amazon Customer : Fan died
Bought this for $129 in Sept of 2015. The fan has died. Didn't even last 3 years. Loved it while it worked. Will purchase something else.
Maren : Very Pleased
I've only done kale chips so far but I'm happy with my purchase. My main requirement was BPA free shelves and good reviews. This feels like a quality machine.
Amazon Customer : Used it for all sorts of fruit thus far with ...
Used it for all sorts of fruit thus far with success. Quiet and efficient, the trays all do their jobs well. I am still working in the fruit leather perfection as wax paper isn't effective thus far.
Amazon Customer : ... owned other dehydrators but none of them work as good as this one I really like it
I have owned other dehydrators but none of them work as good as this one I really like it.
Mr. N : Basic, but Gets the Job Done
Fantastic performance so far - I've owned mine for about nine months, and in that time, its seen pretty heavy usage, making between one and three batches of jerky or dried fruit a week. Before purchasing, I'd looked around at the market and decided on a cabinet-style model. I'm sure the comparable Excaliburs are fancier, but this unit does an outstanding job without breaking the bank.
Capacity - the primary driver for my desire for a 'cabinet-style' unit - is outstanding. This dehydrator has tons of room and good spacing between the trays. I've settled on 2.5-3# of meat sliced into 1/8" strips as the upper limit of what I can fit inside.
No need to rotate trays or other such nonsense - the fan and heating element do a good job of ensuring that everything is dried consistently without having to baby it.
Ilovebling : I like it. It does its job
I like it. It does its job, but I really wish there was a timer on it. I guess they expect you to set an alarm in the middle of the night to turn it off...I also wish the inserts were not plastic
A. Pritchett : Dried melon is my favorite.
Have been using this since the summer. We've made jerky and several versions of dried fruits. Dried melon is my favorite.
Germaine Darling : that's is a great product
It works great for dehydrating
R. Minnick : Great for jerking your meat!
Love making jerky with this machine. The trays are a little big for the sink but it makes great jerky.
My only complaint is the manual. I remember the days when manuals included pages of recipes. This manual could fit on a single sheet of paper. It's nearly useless and the recipes included are a joke. There are plenty of recipes to be found online. If you went by only the manual you'd be eating apple chips until you were sick of them.

Ayrian Gridiron : Great for beef jerkey!!
I am so happy with this purchase. The dehydrator doesn’t make the room hot. It is very easy to use. I have made 3 batches of beef jerky since my purchase and my kids cannot get enough.
I rated it lower for cleaning because I have to use a toothpick to clean the plastic grates, it takes a little time to do this but if you allow them to soak in water the leftover food particles are easier to come off.
storyink : UPDATED.... updated / again - lasted 3 months
1.12.2020.........BUYER BEWARE:
The heating element failed after about 10 uses. I don't think there is any such thing as a warranty - I've contacted the company and CRICKETS. Nada. Nothing. It wasn't the greatest out of the gate, but now just a waste of money.

Simply: After 6 hours of drying on 135 degrees, I noticed that the front plastic "door" looked like something dripped on it (it didn't - something about the plastic) AND that the plastic cracked at the bottom. I would think they'd use materials that were made for the task? (will upload photos later). PS I cleaned everything in soapy water before using as manufacturer advised. Looked perfectly new when starting.
UPDATE:
I am using it with cracked door - and it's FANTASTIC. I've dried kale, herbs, apples, guava, persimmons, pears, mushrooms - and the taste! wow. (the apples & pears were dipped in honey-water mixture before dehydrating to prevent browning. They are the most tasty dried fruit I've ever had - super sweet. Definitely dessert.)
I will be purchasing another, but upgrade a little from same company. The door cracking is not a good sign.
Jan 6... purchased in September, started use in October AND, it broke today. (I've used it a total of maybe 8 times..... No more heat. And of course I cannot return it.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND

Excellent

Love this product! Highly recommend if you like Beef Jerky!
sandy sensenig : They love them. Liver smells awful drying out
I've been making liver and steak treats for my dogs. They love them. Liver smells awful drying out, but not the fault of the machine lol. Easy to clean up. I love it.
Mark S. Kazanoff : Great Deal
Great product.
USMCSurvivalist85 : Runs a little cold
Been using this alot this week. Went to verify running temps to be sure that my meat is safe. Set to 155 the internal temp did not get over 140.
eahamel : Like it!!!
Works much better than the round ones I've had before! It's totally enclosed, so heat isn't wasted, and it didn't heat up my kitchen like the round one that I used to have. I dehydrated some soaked nuts and they were ready very fast, compared to the others, and I like the firm texture. The last dehydrator apparently wasn't doing a good job, nuts would be rubbery.
sunshine73487456345834 : it's ok
So far pretty good, doesn't seem to be an accurate temperature gage though
Amazon Customer : Not heavy and easy to use.
Very happy and is easy to clean.
