Answer: It was for my husbands first fly fishing attempt and he was very happy with it.

how flexable is this rod?

Answer: It's uncoordinated.. Standard 5-6 wt flex I bought as beginner I sold it recently and bought reddington 4wt and a sage reel for the same price and it is ten times the set up.. I found both the rod and reel at half price on cabelas

Answer: I have only used the rod a couple of times but found it to be flexible and of good quality. I enjoy fly fishing from my kayak but in no means consider myself to be a fly fisherman. I guess you could consider me to be a beginner but I sure do have a great time.

how flexable is this rod?

Can you change the reel it to right-hand retrieve? I am left-handed.

Answer: Yes. You have to take the spool off, then there's a metal clip, like a horseshoe that holds the plastic washer, and then you can remove the clutch bearing. This bearing has to be flipped around for the retreive to reverse direction. Once you put it back on, just reverse the previous steps :)

Answer: I believe so. But I bought mine at Cabella's and they took back another of my outfits when I broke the tip. So if you buy it at a similar sports store I'm sure it's warranted, but if you get it online and that's a concern, you should verify it with Amazon.

The fly rod is a replacement for an older fly rod and reel that I lost out of a trailered kayak because I inadvertently neglected to tether it to the kayak. I am impressed by the quality of the rod and reel and carrying case. The backer, fly line and leader are a bonus. I am looking forward to my next kayak fishing trip. Any comments about performance should be left to the more experienced fly fisherman but this outfit seems like it will give me many hours of "flailing" enjoyment on the water.

Got a mmh 9" 4 piece for Christmas. First time using it broke on my 3rd cast. I'm hoping my mother who bought it can find the credit card reciept and adamsbuilt will send a new piece. It snapped near the connection end of the reel holder piece for no good reason. Ruined my trip I drive 4 hours for.

Brand new rod had some scratches and reel had some kind of metal junk on it. Overall a nice real rod and well made except for the minor issue I had. Amazon price range $141 to $97. It will drop. Buy when cheap. I now own two.

I have caught both bass and panfish on this combo. I will say my one recommendation would be for them to offer different taper options. I believe it comes with a trout taper and is not the best. Other than that, no complaints from me. It's so easy to use that my son was casting it in under 5 minutes.

I am a beginning fly fisherman, so can't tell you much. I did catch my very first fish with that outfit. A 15 inch native speckled trout in a branch of Moosehead Lake in Maine. So, yes I am enjoying it. I am sure when I get more knowledgeable I will advance to a higher level on my equipment.
