Answer: I would pick a reel with heavier line and more capacity. This reel would work for very small saltwater fish. I would question how well it will hold up in a saltwater environment and would recommend rinsing it off well with freshwater if used in saltwater. It is a decent low end reel.

I fish in a river that has brackish water, not too salty, will this reel stand up to brackish water?

Answer: I personally have only used it in fresh water, but I feel that too much exposure to salt conditions will corrode the insides easily.

Answer: One of the smoothest reels I've ever used. Worth the money. Huge bargain.

Does this reel have instant anti-reverse?

Answer: No. It has anti-reverse but not instant. It has some plays in it.

Its a nice little ultra light reel. I've used it in my local creek to catch small mouth. While it's not buttery smooth like a 10 bearing top shelf reel, it feels like a Daiwa, just less refined. I had no issues. I absolutely trust it,much more than what I might find on the shelf at the local discounter. For the price it is a great option as a spare or to loan to someone who might not be experienced enough to keep it out of the water and sand.

For the price , this little reel out did my Phleuger and my other Daiwa....bought it and used it on the same day .Put it on a Shakespeare Micro Series rod with 6 lb Berkeley Triline and I was catching everything from Mayan cichlids , Bluegill, small Carp and Talapia . Took it apart after I used it,sprayed some Real Magic on all the parts and this lil reel is hands down my favorite now...buy it, use it properly and it will be worth every penny..????????✝️????????????

Wat too small. Its wayyyy too small. This thing made the 500 models of some other brands look huge. I have the 2000 models and they work great a little big but good drag and everything but these little ones they felt very cheap and with the spools being so tiny even good line was keeping a lot of memory.

Because you're checking a review on a $15 light-weight rod I have to say this is exactly what you want. Works a hell of a lot better than any other $15 rod you'll get but make sure you're getting it for ultra-light. It doesn't fit a lot of line and is very small (as it should be)

This little reel is great. Works very well. Casts light lures a long way and the bail does not need to be flipped over by hand. Just crank it and it flips. I have Much more expensive Pfluger that won’t even do that. I do wish the anti-reverse lever was metal instead of plastic. Otherwise super happy with it.

Did y'all really not expect it to be small when buying a 1000 reel? Have it on a Shakespeare Micro Light with 4lb line. Nice in a canal. Caught some cats with the 2500 series and an Ugly Stik so I thought I'd try to size down so I could learn better panfishing.

I put 2 pound flouro line on it and handles it okay, but it seems like it was not made for it. When I replace it I will try 4 pound test.

It is pretty smooth and has a decent drag system and was cheap so I can't complain too much.

I liked the fact that this reel is exceptionally well made, lightweight and is as smooth as a much more expensive product. My grand daughters love these as they are easy to use; line flies off easily with no snag or backlash. They will be using for both salt water and fresh water. This is an unbeatable value for the price.
