*how has the fishing been for you guys so far?
* cant wait to meet up with everyone march 19 see you soon !! ;D
Went out on Ruffins Pond, in Spotsylvania, VA on Tues. Skunked. Water was really murky from the heavy rain that Saturday.
Will be hitting Ruritan Lake next week, hopefully I will have a picture of a hawg when I get home
got my first bass of the year earlier this week at innsbrook. got her on a spinnerbait
Its started okay. I have done okay, caught some decent numbers but haven't stuck a big girl...yet.
I only been out twice this year. Diascund and lake Orange. My brother lost his hook up at Diascund on a crank and that was the only hit for that day. The water was in 46 to 48 degree range. Lake Orange I had three dinks on shakey head out of the same hole in the 16' range. The biggest might been 7". The water temp there was 44 to 46. Nothing else on the day for me and my brother. I'm trying to talk my brother into going out Sunday.
Thought i was the only one!! Iv been hitting all my normally good holes and coming up with nothing throwing everything jigs, slow rolled spinners , some cranks, plastics everything in the box !! Its nice to know i"m not the only one pulling out non picture Worthy fish and getting skunked anyone know what water temp is considered to be pre spawn or when the start to move up ? :
Haven't been at all this year but the time change tonight is going to make all the difference.
A guy I'm working with is renting a house on a farm with three ponds. Hit one up on a rain day in October before it got cold and caught 3-4 pounder. Plan on working those ponds in the coming weeks.
Probably do some crappie fishing too, fish fry time!
Headed to Chesdin Tomorrow I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Gotcha keepus posted with the results
Will do hopefully a picture of a big girl! Trying to do some pre-fishing for a tournament on the 26th.
Its started off slow for me, only been to charter colony twice...first time fishing this year, about the 3rd cast, caught this small, probably non picture worthy dink, but I was still pretty excited to get something...
Today was tough! Windy, water was very stained, and water level was high. Didn't get one fish, Talked to 4 other boats that had ran up to the swamp and they had the same results. Still was nice to be out on the water.
My brother says the same. He went to Huntingrun and no luck had a few hits but none brought in. I said heck with it and stayed home. Getting ready for next Sat.
Went out yesterday in Westmoreland County, caught some dinks. Buddy of mine, Bill, caught a good 7lb.
new day same results cold murky water and windy conditions skunked again !

What were you throwing at enclave and grove? You still got the same # man? We need to actually meet up this year and do some fishing.
Finally got a change to go out. Went to Powhatan Ponds, tried sight fishing the banks, but didn't see anything. I guess they haven't moved up for pre-spawn yet.
The first pond is clear and low. The last pond is high and muddy. I didn't make it to the middle one, cuz I'm lazy.
The luck iv bn having you dont wanna fish with me racer haha
Has anyone been out Diascund Creek Reservoir, yet? Or has anyone heard a report on the fishing?
I went about 4 weeks ago and was skunked. Me and my brother. He had one hit his sexy shad but lost it.
Thinking about seeking out there on Friday. Hopefully the bite changed.
I've had some good days, first pic is from Feb, second is from March
Those are some ridiculously good days..... nice work

x2: Great days for many. I'll be out there Friday.
Nice fish there. Going out this weekend to Westmoreland, hopefully the warmer temperature will help.

Where's Westmoreland?
Westmoreland county, bout and hour East of Fredericksburg.
I had an awesome day today. Took off work a little early seeing as it was crazy nice outside, and I hit a nearby pond with my kids. We caught 10+ in a couple hours, including a beautiful 5 pounder. A great time was had by all.
would have been happy with just this and a s-load of fries
but then i pulled in this trophy
biggest fish of my short life!
Nice and congrats typed by ten
thanks! i was so excited to get it in the net that i shook for probably 5 minutes afterwards.
Finally I got into some fish the last three days. I fished my local reservoir for a few hours each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (today).
All the fish I caught on Friday and Saturday were in the creek channel drop near the back of a cove. No size, biggest was around 2 lbs (which is okay for this lake), but caught a bunch of them. I threw a red eye shad and an LC Gunfish on Friday. All hits on the trap came on the fall (I was yo-yoing it), and the hits on the topwater came on the pause. I missed having a jerkbait with me. The only one I had, a KVD wild shiner, turned out to be a lemon. It sank like a darned stone.
Came back on Saturday with a Pointer and the Gunfish. Cleaned them up on the jerkbait, caught nothing on the topwater.
Today was mighty tough. I found a few fish at the very back of the cove, in real shallow water, but buried inside laydowns. Caught half a dozen on weightless senkos.
Hey Ben nice fish. Now just catch 4 more of those a day and you''l cash some checks.I wish it was that easy. My first tournament I fished last year I caught three 4 pounders in about an hour in the same spot. Couldnt catch any more keepers , several 14 inchers but 15 inches was the minimum for weigh in, just weighed in my 11.8 pounds and called it a day.

thanks man. show me where to catch 4 more and you can keep the money ;D
i didnt mention the 20 odd dinks i caught... the first picture should tell you a lot about what i consider a "good" fish, haha. thats about as good as it gets for me.
hell with it, id rather catch dinks than waste sunlight at work 8-)
nice fish ben got a couple spots for you to try you in richmond va where did you catch thos at ?
those were at a private mill pond in new kent, i can barely get in. pretty soon im gonna have access and a boat on woodhaven, after that i wont mind showing a few people around.
Fished a private pond yesterday and finally caught my first fish. 7 bass + 2 crappie. Bunch of dinks. One maybe close to 1lb.
Caught them all on a white beetle spin. I was really trying to see if I could catch a couple of crappie to eat.
Going back tomorrow with bass on the brain.
great minds think alike i caught 13 crappie yesterday and plan on hittting the basss hard tomm morning we caght a 2.3 pound crappie thought is was a bass put up a good fight ;D

I feel ya man. Caught a 1lb+ crappie last year on a jerkbait and thought I was reelin in a big bass. Was disappointed to see what was hooked, but always happy to catch a fish.
On a different note...panfish hit like a whale no matter what size. Thinking about fishing for sunnies more this year.
Quotethanks! i was so excited to get it in the net that i shook for probably 5 minutes afterwards.
did the same thing when i pulled this pig out in Prince William County
went out to chandlers mill pond reservoir with dhami 3 or 4 weeks ago had this mean 9lb. and some other small 13-16in and one chain pickerel. the next weekend out again same place had multiple chain pickerel largest 22in and 2 bass to go along.
