Post up your favorite pair or pairs of smallies. It almost winter & some of us need a diversion from the cold & snow.
I can't post my favorite pair on this forum but those are some dang nice fish!
yeah like i am going to post after that....those are some pigs
Great pics.
I had another idea of my best pair but glad to see your post is about smallies.
One more pair
I don't have a good pair because I didn't fish off your boat.
I am still waiting on a pic like your's Dwight!!!!!

There's some pretty familiar looking background there Dwight!

Yea Scott sometimes you just can't hide where you are. But I am devious enough to motor over to a particular spot just to take pictures of fish caught somewhere else.
<----------------------------------
Awesome fish guys. I do not have a pair unfortunately to show. When I catch my biggest ones the season is C&R only so i quickly release them all back.
I caught one, Jordon caught the other, but the pic is of him, taken by myself after our win on Erie:

I can't say for the other guys, but I am pretty sure that the pairs Dwight is holding are actually caught at the same time. I have caught several doubles drifting two lines (one rod in each hand). When you go through a pod of fish, many times both rods will get hit almost at the same time (or one right after the other). That's when you try to reel in the one that feels the heaviest first while holding your other rod under your arm or anywhere else. After the "heavier" one is in the net, fish two comes in. Hold both for a photo and off they go in the water and they never see a livewell or are out of the water for any length of time.

Excactly. On erie you can fish three rods in PA waters. So doubles do happen. And like Steve just mentioned when you get bit twice at almost the same time you have to decide which is biggest to reel in first. My second rod is in the rod holder with a looser drag hoping it will stay hooked up while I bring the first one in. Sometimes the 2nd one gets off. But sometimes you win both battles. Right A-Jay? Had a 6-12 & a 6-8 come in that way once. Sweet.

When it's right, doubles are a way of life on that fishery.
And when things are really going your way, sometimes that second, third or even fourth rod will load up.
And when the smoke clears and big mess is finally cleared out of the net you could be snapping shots of anything from obscenely large Smallmouth, to Steelhead, Lakers, Brown trout or even a pigged out Waldo ~

Not a big pair, but it's from my favorite place to fish in late May/early June. It's even more fun than Erie during that time frame. You won't get the size Erie offers, but it's non-stop action from some feisty river smallies.

Thanks Dwight! "Walleye13" comes from my PB walleye on Bay of Quinte...13lbs-4oz. Also when and where I met Mr. Hottle who showed me those first jaw dropping pics of Lake Erie smallies. I've been a "Dwight Disciple" ever since and now he's got me chasin "Smallie7"....
Dwight Disciples. Lol that's awesome. T-shirt worthy for sure!
I know it says just smallmouth but since others have already broken the rules I don't feel so bad about it. I've got nothing on those Erie smallies but this is about as good as it gets in Kansas

Two that I caught after breaking thru 1/2 mile of ice in my little tin to get to the spot!! Not giants by any means but proud of them none the less for an end of December outing in Va!!
Very nice end of season bronze.
Thanks Dwight, I've caught bigger and lost even bigger from this body of water but that was my first multi smallie day out there!

Thought I had a gobie on after the footballs we were getting. Then the Steelhead hits and we both thought your had you 8lber. Remember those four days like they were yesterday.

This is all I have for this one. Earlier the same day I had about a 2lb. smallmouth and a 2 lb. largemouth hit my jerkbait at the same time from opposite directions right at the boat (It was cool to see). I hooked up with both, but that smallmouth took that largemouth for a ride and eventually the smallmouth came off and all there was left was a worn out and shocked largemouth.

PA has a trophy season before the regular season opens after spawning. During the trophy season you are allowed to keep one fish per day over 20" long. We simply put one in the livewell & wait to catch the second fish for a picture of a pair over 20". We release all smallies as I have never kept one. The only one I would keep would be a state record which requires weighing one a paper printout state certified scale like in a grocery or meat market.

So do we - right after the picture.

Sometimes the best pairs aren't the biggest two fish, but when you get to double up on Lake Erie smallies with a great friend! The big one measured 20" on the money and 4.4lbs.

The problem I can`t post any pics is because I shore fish.
Sometimes I think I'm getting better at this sport, then I see this thread.. LOL. I caught a 3lb smallmouth once (wachusett reservoir) and was stoked! Can't imagine bringing in fish like you guys do regularly on Erie... I'll have to get out there one day, looks like a dream! The lakers and walleye are awesome bonuses too...
A crankbait pair in 102 degree heat.
