Who's fishing waters hold the most beautiful Smallies? This may have been done before but I love to see those tattooed up fish.
Not the biggest I have ever caught, this one went around 16" but the markings were absolutely beautiful, the pictures dont do it justice to be sure
NICE. Here is one like it small but PRETTY.
Here's two I caught over the summer. Both were under 3lbs.
Don't know how my big my biggest is. I have caught tons of 4-5 pound smallies his year and a few over 5.
One of the best looking...
Here is my PB, it went 4.3 on my Berkley scale. Looks bigger to me, but I am most likely wrong. I should have weighed her again, but I was in a hurry it set it free.

Although I don't have a pic of my "best", here's a few colorful fish from recent years:
Allegheny River
Lake Erie:
Chautauqua Lake:
fourbizz,
Those are great pictures of some beautiful fish.
Congratulations man, those are nice.

Anyone know what would make the 3rd fish of Bizzle's look like that? Never seen anything like it.
Hi guys nice pics Roadwarrior how big r those Smallies that u r holding in your pic. NICE SMALLIES!!!!!!!! I live in Ct my 2 biggest r 6.2 and 6.73 I'm going to try and post a pic.
Very nice fourbizz! very nice
Hey tin i think the 3rd fish bizz posted is a spot/smallie mix.Or it is one cool fish.
NIce fish 4bizz.
Thanks guys!
Most people are gonna say that fish is a meanmouth/mule. I dont know. But about half of the smallies you catch at this lake look like this, and I've never caught a spot there.
QuoteHi guys nice pics Roadwarrior how big r those Smallies that u r holding in your pic. NICE SMALLIES!!!!!!!! I live in Ct my 2 biggest r 6.2 and 6.73 I'm going to try and post a pic.
Candlewood??? :-X
It seems that a lot of those strange looking smallmouth pics are from California (Fish Chris has posted some that look Fourbizz's)
Doesn't hold a stick to most of yours, but I am proud of the catch. Caught on the Upper Potomac River, she went a little over 2lbs. I beat this later in the year with a 3lb 2oz, but I lost it while I was gripping the mouth trying to grab my camera out of my tackle bag on the Rappahannock River (wading).
Little one that is just a beauty!!
Biggest 6.4
A few others!
Non of these pics are me, but of the guys in my bass club.
Pickwick Lake - 5lb 10oz
Here are some with nice markings:
O man lots of "horses" as Al Linder would say. Sometimes the lighting is just right and the markings show up real good. Seems like after some fish have been in the livewell they get some tats then. Heres a couple that I thought looked good.
This girl is painted up nicely

This is what our typical Lake O. rock rats looks like:
Two photos I took of the winning team at the weigh in of a recent club tx.
I would take those bad girls in picture two any day of the week!

Man O Man I need to come north, those are some "Dirty Girls" _NICE FISH Guys_
I caught that top one way back in a giant sewer drain connected to the river. I casted as far as I could towards the back with a topwater into the pure darkness and when this fish smoked it, it echoed throughout the drain . crazy fish!

4-4 also in the Columbia on the same day
QuoteLake erie smallie
O MAN what a fish. I like that color also almost gold.
Man, there are alot of good looking smallies being posted.
Just a few of my better ones from upstate New York in '08....not the Great Lakes! All are 5+ with the biggest being just under 6 on my Berkley scale. I have a bunch more but they are "self portraits" and very poor quality.
Here are some with good markings...and some without.

My avitar is my 2008 personal best Smallmouth. Just a little over 6 lbs.
Our North Branch Susquehanna River Smallies seldom get real big, but here are a few of last seasons.
Quotenot my fish, just representing utah. caught in '07. weighed 8 even and was 22&1/4"

QuoteNo way, a pic of the Beader..
Yep, believe it or not, I really am human.... ;D
I fish all over in NY... often at the St. Lawrence River and the lakes around Jefferson County. I get out on Ontario once and a while too. I've never fished those Adirondack lakes or the Mohawk but look forward to checking them out. So many spots so little time!Quotewow beautiful fish. hey MD where u fishing up in ny. i fish lake george and schrroon lake when i can in the summer. i heard that the mohawk river is pretty good ever hit that up
i have one word... PIGS!
DANG!!! THEM WAS SOME HAWGS!!! :o
Here is my PB a smallie taken from the Greenbrier River, we are blest here in WV between the Greenbrier and the New River we have untold miles of prime smallie habitat. However a 4 lb smallie here is a bigun and 5lb almost unheard of. BTW the fish was right at 4lbs and was 19.5 inches long, caught in July, long after the spawn and the temp in the river was high, and the fish were somewhat stressed.
You know as I sit here and look at the pictures that fish sure doesn't look like a 4lber. My goal this year was to break the 4lb barrier, when I caught the fish I remember thinking that I finally broke the barrier, the scale read 4.1lb, but after looking again I may have to recalibrate my scale!!!!
My PB so far. Caught it out of Lake Michigan. Cant wait to fish them again. It was CPRed.
Nice fish, but a little dated...Time to up the ante!

well my fishing season hasn't started yet water a little too hard and open water doesn't legally start until April 1st. I didn't take many pics last season for some reason so I decided to just give a good representation of what we have here. I promise that I will take lots of pictures this season. However I actually catch more largies than smallies.
I think this was last season 2008
a few that Mrs. SMfisher caught she has broke the 21" mark a few time but hasn't caught one over 22" yet. most of these were caught last year. she hasn't fished this year. still waiting for warmer weather.
I now know that laying the fish on the boat carpet was not a good idea but it is a nice fish anyhow.
NICE SMALLIES!!!
WOW!
8-)
nice smallie Bassbum!
Sorry guys i dont have any pics. I was out last weekend and caught my new PB which is 19-7/8in. and weighed around 4 -1/4 lbs. She had some nice markings on her. Probably the darkest smallie i remember catching.
Carson
Hmmm :-/ something wrong with this one, thats me in the background, my girlfriend caught the big one, o well makes her enjoy fishing so I can buy more equipment.
thanks guys......our season is just starting and I got out last Saturday to dust the cobwebs off.....water was 39 degrees, and it was amazing to see some already started to push up.
coldest water I've ever gotten fish to commit to a j/b.
they did show a preference to the smaller sized (3-/1/2), and you
had to dead stick the life out of it.......but they commited with a vengenece.
I love these fish !!

Boy Bassbum, you wear your emotions on your sleeve. From looking at your face in those pictures, you seem a little angry that you caught such nice smallmouth.
My best for 2009 so far:
4lbs 5oz

I like the tiger stripes on the two that you are holding in your avatar.
Wow, what a beautiful fish. For me part of the appeal is the markings and coloration.
From a recent trip to PA with my pops. The photo of the biggest fish of the trip didn't come out too good, but here a few others.
The bottom pic is my father with a fish that only went a hair over 3lbs, but was one of the fattest fish I have ever seen.
Heres a few from Washington...
This one a freind caught two weeks ago....
Here is a swim bait smallie from the other day.
A great start to '09!
Here's my best for 2009 so far. 23" long, real dark coloration.
Creature bait on the JigRig. Matter of fact, I have a video on this catch too.
From 2011 here's my better fish...ENJOY!!
4.5 pounds from NJ
My buddy Tom's MONSTER SLOB 5.5 NJ Smallie!!
It is kinda of funny but it is hard to find one of those pretty smally pics when you want to. Every lake I fish the smallies have a little different pattern of colors some are really tattooed up and others are not it also seems that the early spring bass have the more brillant markings too!
Here is a live well full of tourney smallmouths and you can see a difference between fish on the same body of water.
This should be enough, lol. This was a pretty bass thread and not your largest right?
My father
A friends biggest at 5lbs 08 oz
Here's a healthy fish from Massachusetts' waters:
That's a beauty!

Not monsters but 2 nice smallies I caught this year. One on a Rat L Trap and another on a Yum Wolly Bug.
how do i attach a pic?
Sorry, heres the 2.
My PB caught in a retention pond of a housing subdivision
Here's a couple that I caught yesterday...someone earlier called them "tatooed" : PERFECT adjective . Gotta love the Brownies...
Here's a couple from last Spring. I've caught several bigger ones, but these are my most recent good ones + I thought the photos came out spot on Took these shots of myself, by myself
6.3 lbs
7.2 lbs

Love the color of those two, Chris.
Heres a beast that came out of the water north of the border.. 8.3 lbs.. plenty more where that came from too
Thank you JF
HookSetDon, that is a beast ! What a frame on that monster ! Cool
Fish
Here is my best a little over 5lbs. Sorry for the crappy picture. All I have is a camera phone.
Best for this year so far. 6lbs-15oz.
So many great photos everyone. Great to see all of those quality smallies!
my PB is a 7 lb 8 oz caught on Pickwick in Dec of 1997 when I was 18 yo. My partner and I caught 6 smallmouth and 3 largemouth (only had 10 confirmed bass bites all day) that day. The total weight was over 50 lbs for the 9. Great day in the Big Eddy!
Sadly no camera was in the boat and camera phones didn't exist that I knew of. Her image is burned into my brain though. Even if I get alzheimers her image will be one of the last things to leave. I was so nervous while fighting her I almost threw up (seriously).
Dwight, I think you must have taken the 'Fish Chris' school of fish photography Had you said all you got was that 9+ lb'er your holding, I'd have probably believed it ! LOL
Seriously though, what a chunk ! And hey, with that black birth mark on her tail, you will know you have caught her again, when she really is 9 lbs !
Stay on em' buddy

Here a few including my PB of just over 5 pounds from Pickwick/ Wilson....still looking for that 6 pounder!! Still learning how to fish exclusively for Smallmouth but I am learning more every time I go

One of the best tattooed smallies I've ever personally seen. A 4 pounder from Milford Lake Kansas.
Maybe not the greatest colored but how can you be mad at a smallmouth with a gut like this? 5 pounder from Melvern Lake Kansas.
No tattoos at all on this one but I loved the color of it, from Milford Lake Kansas.
SLO_ROLL et al, hope you don't mind me showin' off these two again from this season. The first weighed 5.8 lbs. and was caught the end of April. The second was 6.0 lbs. and a big surprise on my June 9th outing. Both came from Massachusetts waters.
The prettiest(tattooed) smallie I ahve ever caught....
Jeff
Man, everyone has some fine fish!
Jeff, the coloration on your fish is magical!
Nicely marked pair from this spring.
One of the darkest I have ever seen, caught by a buddy of mine, while we were fishing on the TN river a couple months ago.
Jeff
Not my biggest or the best looking but all I could find at the moment. 2 good brown fish from Dale Hollow!
Not my biggest but one from this year
Took my buddy fishing one day and this was his biggest smallie
This is the biggest of the year caught it with my stepson. This fish has got to be one of the ugliest. But, he makes up for his dark ugly self by being a pig of a smallie
heres the second biggest/ prettiest smallie i caught this year. caught it in january, had to break through a couple inches of ice with a spud bar to get the boat out!
Wife's PB, 3lb10oz caught today in on and off drizzle and 20 mph winds.
Wife's previous best, 3lb06oz, caught on Grand Traverse Bay.
Not my PB, but the best colored one I've caught, again on Grand Traverse Bay.
My best from ealier this year...21" long 14" girth..I dont carry a scale....Pretty good for a river fish.
PB: 22" 7lbs. Door County, Wisconsin
Steve that is a beauty!
Jeff
This is the biggest one I've ever caught. Not sure on the weight since my scale got water in it on that trip, but it was about 19" long so I'm thinking almost 3lbs
5 lbs
5lbs
Nice fish Ty and welcome to the boards!
Jeff
Here's a bunch of 4 and 5 lbers
And my personal best 6+
And this one's not mine, but biggest smallie I've ever laid eyes on 8lb 10oz.
Very nice fish Bronzeback!!! And that 8lber... HOLY COW WHAT A PIG!!!!!!
This is one of my best. one of my favorite pics anyhow.
I didnt read it all. I was showing my biggest[best].
I think I already posted a few pics in this thread way back....

Wow!
You guys catch some huge fish. I'm jealous! I fish in western Ontario and catch a half dozen bass over 19 inches each year, but rarely one over 20 inches and I've never caught one over 21 inches. In this thread, there are long fish and fat fish and lots of long AND fat fish. Very impressive!
I think this is my best fish. I have caught a lot of big ones on the Great Lakes, but I never have a scale on me. The second is my best friends personal best on Saginaw Bay off of Lake Huron. The third is my daughters personal best on Lake St.Clair.

Small river smallie
It was a small river. This fish was in post spawn, in mid may. Caught near a shallow flat in 6ft of water. And caught on a Blue fox shallow vibrax size 0 in blue shad. It was about 2pounds and 16.5". Biggest I've seen on this river!

Here's mine ... 5.89lb Smallie.
Few years ago, susquehanna river in Feb
A dark Northern Wisconsin bronzeback. This one weighed a little over 3lbs.
Man there are some beautiful smallies in here, I'm relatively new to bass fishing, with only 2 seasons under my belt, but here's a couple of mine.
Nice colors on this one, not my biggest, but my favorite from 2012. Caught in Whiteshell Prov. Park Manitoba.

Those camo pants make you look like the Big O of smallie fishing. Nice Feb smallie.
I was bundled up pretty good that day, it was just above freezing, this fish was caught at the break of day. Theres a powerplant in front of me and behind me is the warm water discharge. I actually caught a bass that day on a piece of a red plastic bag. Never seen anything like it. You could throw any and everything into the water and catch a fish. I caught one also on a piece of pepper jack cheese from my sandwhich.
My buddy took me on this trip and I cant remember if his boat had a jet or not. Havent been able to get ahold of him lately. I want to run my boat there if its deep enough. You used to be able to walk to this spot pre 9/11 but they shut that down. You need a boat to get there now and theres no floating down stream. You must go up from below.
