Yellow perch on a spinner bait...The perch was about as big as the bait.
Geeze fishing Lake Erie I've caught one of everything! lol
- Carp, Catfish, Gar, Pike, Musky, Sheephead, Walleye, Perch, Rock Bass, Bluegill (on a Hula Popper once), brown trout, chinook salmon and even bowfin (not on Lake Erie).
Non - Fish - Snapping Turtle, Condom lol, Wallet, a bumper of an old F-150, a few tires, a shoe, underwear, and once I got a sheephead that actually had two jointed Rapalas stuck in either side of his mouth! That was quite a lucky fish to catch lol. Oh and in Florida I accidentally snagged a little gator foot, luckily with only a small bare hook. He decided to keep the hook.
Ok, on accident ive cought, a brim on a bass lure, a sea bass on a crab trap at the beach, a chain pickeral < i hate those stupid fish, they have ruined 1 too many lures. and ive cought myself twice. I put up a nice fight.
I caught a baby gill on a baby torpedo. The gill was smaller than the bait, and I didn't know I had it on the hook till I got it into the boat. Tritonman and his son had a good laugh at me for MONTHS!!
Wish we had a camera that day...lol
Last summer I thought I had the bass of a life time on. He wrapped me around a tree that was 6-7 foot down. After 25 mins of trying to get it loose she finally came up. And of course it was a 10 lb channel cat. He sure was the greenest looking catfish under water. I am also well known for the extreme size of tree and log bass I catch.
I have caught a perch on a spinnerbait, plenty of bluegill on the spinnerbait as well, and not to mention the number of catfish on Rat L Traps and other crankbaits.
Two of the nicest Channel Cats I've ever caught were on the same outing from a large stock pond in my two-man boat; both went over 5 pounds:
Catfish #1- was caught on a black chugger topwater.
Catfish #2- was caught on a spinnerbait
I put them on the stringer to take home and they towed my little boat around like a team of horses. ;D
I've caught many other channel and mudcats on Berkely powerworms and thought they were massive bass when they thumped it hard.
And Rich:
Are you sure you weren't fishing over a garbage dump? ;D
and, I hope you let that other fish go after removing the Rapala's. It looks like it was his destiny to get away.
My friend caught a mountain bike...lol ;D
He thinks someone stole it then ditched it in his lake...
sucker, carp, channel catfish, drum, trout, crappie, perch, redfish, stingray, gator, shark, seagulls, beaver, herin, snakes, frogs, eel, ladyfish, crabs, shinners, muskie, pike, gar, mudfish, rock bass, striped bass, chum salmon, stealhead, bluegill, fishing rod, lures, shoe, beer can, soft shell turtle, snapping turtle, flathead, walleye, butter cat, saltwater cat, pufferfish, bullhead minnow, and a bunch more I can't think of off the top of my head.
lol...how did you all manage to catch a seagull??? ;D
i saw that happen at the beach last year, it was really windy and someone casted into the wind and it got the birds body so the yreeled it in somehow and got it pinned to the peir and got it unhooked. was pretty crazy.
I was fishing a zara spook and the darn thing spotted it and made a rush to it and grabbed it. Then the stupid thing started to fly off with it. I got mad and snapped my rod and the thing dropped in midflight and hit the water.
I caught a big bluegill on a four inch senko. I can not figure out how he got the 1/0 widegap hook in his mouth. I have also caught a rock bass on the same lure. I have also caught a three foot log that I was sure was a musky. That was a big let down. :'(
muskys are crazy lookin fish, I live no where near them sadly...
I found this at the bassmaster website in the little notes at the bottom the articles.
Weirdest catch
"The weirdest thing I ever caught was a body," South Carolina pro Jason Quinn said. "It happened on Lake Norman when I was 14 years old on a Zara Spook. I was fishing a point and a lot of boat traffic was coming by. I was walking a Spook on a point and all of a sudden, when a wave went down, this guy's head appeared. He had anchors tied to his legs and they said he had been in the water for two weeks. He apparently committed suicide."
CRABS!!! :-X And they wouldn't go away. ;D
thats terrible will
crappie, catfish, suckerfish which is a type of shad ... and a duck man that duck got a hook in its leg and took abt 100 yrd off my rod lol
My dog!!! It was the first time I ever took him with me fishing. It was early in the morning and I threw a popper before I got out on the water from the boat ramp. Of course, my yellow lab jumped in after it and retrieved it for me > >.
He managed not to get hooked thank god.
4lb channel cat on an inline spinner
bet that was a battle fatbass.
I was trolling for walleye on Deep Creek Lake and ended up coming about an ounce short of the Maryland State record pickerel.
Fishing for crappie below the dam here a while back and caught a 10lb+ gar on 4 lb test. Took me about 15 minutes to reel him in and I had to constantly tweak my drag. He was hooked in the side. Not a prize fish-here anyway-but fun as heck! I also figured out why there weren't any crappie still in that spot!
A good-sized muskie on a little crappie jig. I had him to the boat and he broke the 6 pound test line.
catfish on rattle traps
crappie on rattle traps
white bass on rattle traps
Have never caught a largemouth on a rattle trap.GO FIGURE
lawn chair with a power worm
and last but not least my cousins seat in his 69 mustang.
bassin4life beat me to it, I caught a muskogee duck one day by the back of the leg with a spinner bait. All I can tell you is the fight was on!!! I was in my boat and that thing as I reeled it in, flying I might add, it nearly beat me and my buddy to death. Finally snagged him in my dipnet and cut the end of the hook off and let him go. We got applause from the other boats around us. Sad thing they all had wet spots in their pants where they had peed theirselves laughing at me. It was funny I guess...
I've got some water mocasins on mepps and had some crazy looking bird dive-bomb a sluggo but didn't actually hook him. Just let him fly around with it until he finally dropped it. Pulled in some bullheads fishing plastics too.
my 2 year old neice.
my brother in law & my neice came trout fishin with my son and me up the mckenzie river. they just were not biting ne thing i through at them so i busted out my fly rod and walked up stream a little bit. finaly i started having luck just befor evening then the wind picked up and whipped my line over the bank on one of my false casts and set the hook right in her cheek.
she dont let me forget about it either.
oh and when i lived in ketchikan alaska i was halibut fishing and i pulled this ugly fish out of the water with a long nose big teeth and realy weird speckled. i now know its called a rat fish.
they are UGLY!!!
I caught a bat once spin fishing for sea trout. I also caught a bluegill on a #5 Mepps.
well, till now only one other person alive knows this.... i caught a boot. yhea a boot. just like the old cartoons, an old, nasty, half-rotted slimy leather boot.
4 ft and a 1 1/2ft Alligator on a Fluke , Eufaula Al
3 ft Alligator on a Fluke, Okeechobee
They all came out of nowhere...Getting the hooks out was interesting
30lb catfish on a spinnerbait
Large Blue Herron on a Spinnerbait, that was an interesting hook retrieval also!
A Huge Alligator Snapping Turtle on Sweet Beaver, Fun hook Retrieval
14" Shad on a Spinnerbait
3 ft Cottonmouth on a Buzzbait
A Woman in a Bikini on a Slider Worm- a real slider, not being Dirty, she through it back
All were returned to the Lake, Hookless, Safe and Sound..Except for the Cottonmouth he is now deceased
The other night I was doing a little catfishing with some chicken.....got 4 or 5 bass all around 2 pounds....and not one catfish. I just thought that was pretty wierd.
caught one of those bass hook kits today on a panther martin.
My co angler
The Flu....
My GIRLFRIEND!!!!!!
We were throwing topwaters and just as I went to make a cast she stepped up on the front deck with me.(for some UNKNOWN reason) Well I managed to stick 3 of the 6 hooks of that chug bug in her back!!!
Let me tell you. No matter who's fault it may have been (HERS BTW) there is absolutely no way to convince her that you didn't do it on purpose! WOW I'm glad were no longer together! ;D
caught a brown trout with a rubberband around its head,2 snapping turtles,13lb sheephead, gar, lots of bowfin,
[glb]My little Brother! ;D I wasn't fishing though. I was getting ready to go fishing. He grabed the crankbait hr got himself hooked. [/glb]
I can't count how many panfish I've caught on bass lures, the most notable however was a bluegill I caught on a full-size Castaic Sunfish
I caught a 12 lb carp fishing for bluegills. I was using a 1/16 oz mepps spinner on ultralite rod and 4lb test. I followed him around for a while!
I've hooked many turtles and even a snake while fly fishing. Talk about a pain in the butt to unhook. The fly line wrapped around the snakes body 10 times.
Freshwater fishing: Rock, log, jetski, boat, the motor (of my own boat), two fish at once, duck, tree and once myself,
Saltwater fishing: Rock, clam, Shark (6ft long salmon fishing), sea sponges, sea cucumbers, downrigger, seagull, seal, and the bottom about 10000002020034018093495012930192..... times.
Strangest? Probably a [glb]duck[/glb].
I was fishing over a bridge where a lot of people feed them and plopped a white popper down, as soon as it hit a duck swam under from the other side and grabbed it. I tried to jerk it away quick but set the hook in its tounge in the process. Good thing I was only using 4 lb test, it tried to fly off squacking like hell. The line finally broke. I was only 11. ;D
A 3 inch bass on a 4 inch pop'r. I have no idea what that little bass thought he was going to do with that pop'r. The treble hook wouldn't fit in its mouth. He hit at it and was snagged on the side of the head.
The first time I ever tried to fish a Carolina rig I caught a 25 pound turtle. I was just starting to bass fish, and thought I had hook up with the next state record or something. Talk about a fight.
I caught(what looked to be ) a 3 lb. channel cat on a topwater lure.
I catch Seagulls all the time topwater trolling with a Blaze Floating Minnow. Kinda messy when they get hooked or don't wanna let go..
ZoSo71
i once cought a rapala husky jerk and it looked like a muskie got hold of it. then the same day i caught a minnow on my rapala shad rap i hooked him throught the middle and i left him on and he next cast i cought a 2lb small mouth
i lost a crank bait one time and went back the next day to find a duck hooked with it. his feet were hooked together. i caught it and cut the hooks and set him free.
does that count?
hmmmm, i have caught to many weird things! i have caught almost every bird that is in or near the water. i have caught a snake, a pubber raft( it had at least 100 lures, and they where all dry!). and let me see, or yes, i have caught a minnow, that was eaten by a bluegill, that was eaten by a small mouth bass, that was eathen by a large mouth bass. know that was fun! i wieghted the bass. and he weighed 15lbs. lol, wonder why!
Yesterday my fishing partner was c-rigging when he caught a dd22. Hooked to the dd-22 was a 3' piece of line with about a 2lb catfish attached.
I catch channelcat and carp all the time on my spinners when fishing for bass.
gar, mudfish, sea bass, pinfish, blue runners, blue fish, lady fish, bluegill, crappie, seagulls, my on rod...have a story to that one.....i was fishin off a dock, and had my drink about 10 feet away, so while i had my line out with a chiken liver on it, i set it down...not thinkin, and went to get my drink, i took a sip of my drink, then heard ''splash'' then all i saw was my fishin buddy about fallen over laughin and my rod getting pulled away. ;D now, i was real mad, i almost jumped in the water after it, then i started fan casting with a big ole weight and treble hook with no avail...so about 2 hours later im fishin a spinnerbait and hook up with something...turns out it was my rod and reel, with no fish on, the line was snapped .....i have also caught turtles, and so much other crap. i know a guy, well talk to a guy who has caught a dead person...he was trolling and he thought he hooked a big fish, when they got it up it was a guy. :-X and there was another guy that says that the last few times he was out fishin the same spot he was pullin in clumps of red hair.........didnt want to tell cause he thought they would drain his lake : we told him to tell somebody, said he would, and havnt heard from him since??? this was on another forum. so who knows.
i hooked what appeared to be about a 30 to 40 pound flathead at smithmountain lake one morning on a fatfree shad with 8 pd test line.....when i finally got him up were i could see him he decided he would snap my line lol
one time when i was like 10 i caught a porno magizne i pulled it up and my dad in the car yelled out what u catch a porno u have been staring at in for like 2 minutes lol i once had a freind catch a carp on a mister twister
Mud Catfish, and Perch While fishing for stripers
Big snapper turtle that hit a 2inch curl tail worm on a jig head
A bunch of little turtles with worm on a jig head
Bluefish ALL THE TIME while striper fishing
Flounder once while going for stripers
and alot of rigs that have been snapped and left in the water
I caught some bullfrogs while fishing a sumo frog over some slop, never seen them until it was to late. Unfortunately the bass didn't bite.
Was out today for our (southern Ont.) opener tourney, and we were flipping for largies in the cane. I flipped into a pocket and wham, i bring it up to the surface and its a huge snapping turtle. THe turtle actually had the hook in its mouth.
I caught a cat on a plastic worm sprayed freshly bass attractent

A turtle!
;DA Seat Cushion ;D
caught a flathead cat off a rattletrap
I know some others mentioned seagulls, and I just did catch one a few weeks ago while on a trip in Canada. I was using a topwater and it just swooped down and hooked itself. I reeled it in and my friend held it while I removed the hook.
It did not happen to me, but I had a friend who was fishing a lake in Canada when he set his rod down for a minute and a fish took of with it. Then 2 years later his uncle snagged the rod and pulled it back out of the lake.
i was goin for bass with a senko and i caught a 1 1/2 pound crappie and another time i was usin a spinner bait and i caught this wierd lookin catfish ;D
Grennel,Gaspergou,Jackfish,catfish,white perch,bream,turtle.
I caught a 24lb tire on 10 lb test off the dock one morning. I knew it wasnt a fish, but i wasnt expectin a tire by any means.
I was fishing with a friend in the Columia river when I was a kid, we ran out of worms, catching nothing but junk fish. As a joke, I put piece of cheese popcorn from our lunch on my hook and tosssed it in,pow I cought about a fifteen inch trout, ok closer to 13' Im not sure actualy becaue I got it onto the dock and the hook fell out of itsmouth and it flopped all over the dock while we both dove for it but the fish won and found an opening in the dock :'(the whole event lasted a few seconds) we both baited up with popcorn but got not so much as a nible after that.
I once snagged the tial of a 20" sturgeon, I thought it was a monster!
a mallard
eels
the wife hooked a sailboat
QuoteI found this at the bassmaster website in the little notes at the bottom the articles.Weirdest catch
"The weirdest thing I ever caught was a body," South Carolina pro Jason Quinn said. "It happened on Lake Norman when I was 14 years old on a Zara Spook. He had anchors tied to his legs and they said he had been in the water for two weeks. He apparently committed suicide."
Suicide? with more than one anchor? Hmm
I almost caught a beaver on topwater while night fishing last night.
Fishing Oak Orchard river (trib of Lake Ontario)Cast a yozuri stick bait First cast let it set for a few seconds when it landed sea gull swooped down and hit it and let it go.Set pole aside for a few minutes till I thought the birds were gone. Picked pole up and cast when the lure landed a bird hit it again dropped it second bird hit it and was hooked flew with it landed in water I let the line go slack and it come free.
Good Luck!
Sinker48
Rock bass on a spinnerbait on a drop off( michigan)
A puffer fish on a zara spook while fishing for reds and specks in the bay( florida
And a blugill on a jointed rapala that mutilated his jaw(michigan)
I think the strangest hing i have caught was a channel cat on a yellow buzz bait along some rocks in about 6' of water. the guy i work for was in norther wisconsin fishing, trolling, and a bald eagle got his bait. hes said it was quite a fight to keep his pole. they ended up cutting the line. i also caught a gar on a popper.
I caught a fishing rod and reel about 2 weeks ago..caught a 2lb.bass on the pole I caught tonight...LOL
13 lb Largemouth bass. took about 6 months to catch. My own experience with Largemouth bass that big is most lures dont work on it. even soft plastic lures. but live golden shinners and worms might be the only baits to catch it with. I used spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs, soft plastic worms, lizards, frogs, and jerkbait but the fish get very lazy and dont even care. There mouths are so big that they can spit out big bass hook with ease.
Just came back from the local pond and I have you all beat. You want to know what I just caught? How about my brand new Motorola cellphone. That's right, I sat it next to a cement bench in a zip-lock bag (after the little woman called to chat) and sure enough, my next cast caught the bag and flung it into the pond. It landed about a foot out in the water (that's right, almost stayed dry) and while I ran to grab it within a matter of seconds, it still seems to be dead. Looks like I'll have to drop another $50 on the deductible and get a new one. I obviously should have gone fishing as God intended - with no contact to the outside world.
I was doing a bit of fishing off the docks, and managed to catch about a 3-4 pound drum.
Let's see -
A 5 and 1/2 lb. white crappie on a crankbait (Yeah just under the world record and on the same lake),
Lots of 8-15 lb. drum on plastic worms during bass tounaments.
An alligator gar estimated at 250 lbs. on a plastic worm.
A 10' alligator on a crankbait in southern Arkansas where I didn't even know there was alligators.
Snagged a Manatee on the St Johns river. Like hooking a whale.
Lots of bullfrogs on plastic worms.
Snakes, birds, turtles, a duck. Every kind of salt water fish imaginable (in the salt marshes they mix it up with bass). One nutria (a big one).
An then there was the 8 lb. channel cat that somehow managed to sink a large treble hook so far into my thumb that I had to push it out the other side of my thumb point first. Believe me tyhere's noting like having a twisting beserk 8 lb. catfish on one end of a lure when the other end is sunk solidly into your thumb.
Turtles all the time when carp fishing!
Also, a spotted moray eel in FL. Yikes. Not fun getting off the line.
Channel Cat while fishing a TX rigged worm for bass.
Yellow Perch on a micro crank bait fishing for bluegill.
My son caught a huge crappie on a big floating bass plug. I've caught big bluegills on floating bass plugs too. Last month I had something enormous take my plastic worm just after sunset in a lake that never produces huge bass. Because I keep my drag set light yet the line snapped near the worm, I suspect a big snapping turtle (which are in the lake). My buddy in Alaska caught a seagull on a floating Rapala.
Crabs.
Oh Jeeze!!! Thats to much!!! LOL
Two weeks ago I caught an Oscar. Yes, the same tropical fish Oscar that people raise in tanks. Obviously someone threw it in the lake rather than kill it or give it away. It fought like a son-of-a-gun too!
one time i caught my dad in the head with a 4" rapala
then one time he caught himself in his own ear with a fly popper hahahaha :
another time Chris and i were fishing of jetty park in florida, i cought a SEA SNAKE
I DROPPED MY SURF ROD AND PROCEEDED TO WALK ON WATER ....
moments later chris saw a manatee and try tohold onto its tail :
Remember Bubba at hole 13 at Tuskawilla?
dang gator hahahahaha wed feed him those little ... um fish hahaha he loved us
I once caught a 4lb. Walley without a pole!
I had my 8ft. dipnet down in this creek catching minnows for bait. I was walkin in bout 1-2ft. of water and I stepped on this fish. I must have scared the crap out of him, cause he shot up on shore and ran right into my tackel box. I just yelled to my brother "Throw a net on that fish." We were both pretty shocked, it was surreal.
Three things I would have never thought I would see while fishing...all have happened this year.
A catfish caught on a rooster tail
A catfish caught on a plastic worm t-rigged. for bass
A perch caught on a huge buzzbait (compared to his size)
The only thing left for me to see is a perch caught on a jig lol
True Story...
While fishing a Texas rigged worm at a tournament on Oconee last year I felt a hard "tap". When I set the hook it felt like it was heavy so I told my partner to get the net. I was shocked and embarrassed when I pulled in a live, fresh water clam. About three casts later I felt a differen't "Tap and tug". This time it actually started to swim off and felt really good. I yelled "Net, net!" and, you guessed it, another larger clam. My buddy was rolliing around laughing! To this day, every time I stick a fish with him in the boat I have to hear "It ain't another dang clam is it?"
I was fishing Lake Erie for smallies and pulled in a St. Croix Legend with a Shamano Spirex reel. It looked like new. I wish that happened more often!
I caught a big snapper once on a really big floating plug. I think it is called a creek chub but i am not sure.. Thought it would be a huge northern...Brought it in with a ton of weeds around it and i heard it making noises...pulled the weeds off and about crapped myself...It was hilarious.
I caught a monster sheephead before too while trolling for walleyes...it was easy 12-15 pounds...Nasty fish though!
Perch, which was then eaten by a pickerel. I took off the pickerel, and kept both fish ;D
I'd say snapping turtles, but we actually fish specifically for them haha. When we can't get a ride (niether me or fishing budy drive), we bike to a little pond nearby. It's chocced full of sunfish (similar to bluegill, don't know if it's the same fish :-/ ). So, we catch a sunfish, get it nice and bloody, keep it on our lines, and catch snappers with it. They're fun ;D
I've also caught crappie on c-baits and plastic worms, catfish on spinnerbaits, pickeral on just about every lure known to man, grennel on plastic worms, gaspergou on spinnerbaits(that's a cajun name for 'em;weird looking fish),bream on c-baits and floating Rapalas, bass on bream popping bugs,etc.,etc.,etc.
While fly fishing I caught a bat.
Another time fly fishing I caught a wild duckling.
While topwater fishing at night, I hooked a beaver. He stole my lure.
I caught a big pike that coughed up a nice fresh 3 lb walleye when I got him on shore.
Quite a few river clams.
A huge, green eel while fishing for brook trout in a tiny lake very far away from any place where eels normally can be found. I was using 4 lb mono. I cut the line when the monster was close to the canoe.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/cedar1_/fishing024.jpg
flipped a black jig into a willow bush and pulled this baby out
I once caught a rock on Table Rock -- it was about 2" square and had a hole in one side where water had eroded it at some point and I picked it up on a crank bait.
also, a buddy of mine once caught a musk rat -- sort of on an accident, but he kept swimming around where we were fishing and buddy threw his crank bait at him to try to scare him away and he got snagged in the foot.
Another guy, member of my Bass Club, caught a goose when he dove after his Senko and took off in the air with it, very funny to watch -- wish I had a video camera.
I was casting a floating rapala for bass in a quiet bay in Lake Huron (Parry Sound, Ontario).
A passing seagull came out of nowhere and siezed my lure before I was able to rip it underwater.
He managed to hook himself so I no choice but to retreive Big Bird to the boat.
Unhooking that ungrateful condor was not a pretty sight for either of us.
Once while striper fishing the SF Bay, I caught a good sized crab. Somehow, the hook passed under the crab and hooked the line around its body. I basically lassooed it.
All of the normal trash fish but in 2004 3 rod and reels from the same lake and all in different areas. And my biggest fear would be to hook a dead body
I caught a bluegill on a 2inch goldfish several large bluegill on rat-l-trap. ;D
I was fishing a little stream for the first time, looking for some trout but i caught two 14' smallmouth bass and several bluegills I have also caught crappie perch bass creek chubs suckers shiners and a snagging hook with about a 4' long sinker on it
i got a 50+pound pillow on a deep fat free shad
man did it fight hard :-?
In the words of Peter Griffin, " Man, fishing sucked today. All i caught was a tire, an old boot, and this book of cliches."
i caught a jacket one time. That sucked not only because it was hard to land, but also because I knew someone was cold somewhere.
i cauhgt a osprey on a live blue fish and ive caught myself a couple of times
today i went to a new spot in my reservior where this man showed me to use a spinner bait at a medium retrieve...so i decided to switch to a spinner bait from a yum forked dinger, so i casted into the water not expecting to catch anything, i put my rod in the holder as i went to find the spinner bait and abut 5 seconds later i see my rod bedning like crazy. so i take the rod out and start fighting the fish which i thought was a MONSTER bass, but after 2 minutes or so it turned out to be a gigantic pike (for my standards) it was 24" long and 11.5" around which according to the weight calc. is 5.12lbs, so i guess my PB fish for now is a pike but hopefully i beat that # with a bass
I've caught some weird things. A seagull and a 5ft water snake among them. I also caught two flounder in 25 feet of water ripping a gotcha plug just beneath the surface. I would liken it to catching a catfish in 25 feet of water on a floating rapala.
The all time winner is a very angry 500lbish sea lion who took a live mackerel i was fishing in Baja. He actually just came up and wallowed on the surface crying once he was hooked. We cut the line as quick as we could.
line class record pike. Was bass fishing.
Fishing for bass and hooked a bowfin. Hale (fellow forum member) and myself thought I had a big bass. Went down to grab it for me then saw what it was (or wasn't) and jumped back. Very funny!
My moms head!
Hmm.. My weirdest catch has to be well... this fish is hard to explain. Have you ever seen that fish on the animal planet or discovery channel, it attaches to the belly of a shark and follows it around, kinda like a leech. Anyways I actually caught one of those things. I was fishing a gulp on a jighead off a jetti and the thing actually hit it. When I brought it up it was the weirdest fish ive ever seen. I literally could not tell what side the fishes head was right side up. What I mean is I could not tell what side of the fish the top of its head was on. It was one weird looking fish. It had a suction type thing on the one side of it, that kinda resembled a plug port or somethin. (Which made me think that the side with the suction thing was the right side of the fish. Anyway I never thought I'd catch that type of fish, but it just goes to show you, you never know what your going to catch when fishing in the ocean .
Here is a picture of it. http://biomesblog.typepad.com/the_biomes_blog/files/remora.jpg now tell me can you tell what side of the fish is the top?
Wow, that's an odd fish!
The oddest things I've caught? Lemme see....
I've caught a tin can off the bottom (ain't that cliched), and caught a 4 inch bluegill on a 5 inch senko. I also caught a bottom rig when I was fishing out of the ocean that had snapped off earlier.
bass on a pan jig and bluegill on popper
yeah bluegills love popers
I snagged a gizzard shad on a Rat-L-Trap once. And I caught a 4 pound bass on a crappie jig.
Ducks, pelicans, turtles, alligators, stingrays, bowfin, minnow, panfish.
I once caught a bikini top on a crankbait
Last weekend I hooked, fought, and broke off an ~80 pound fawn.
Last week I took my pup Buck to the river with me cause he loves the water and I was fishin with a rattle~trap by some weeds for a smallie and WHAM I caught an 11.5" Pike! I laughed and carefully took it of the hook and let him go. That was weird cause I have trouble catchin them when I'm actually fishing for them! LOL
I caught a flu in a foregin country.....
While fishing bass alley on Clear Lake here in California, I was throwing a deep diving crankbait fishing the break, when my crankbait was hammered. It just stopped dead and then started to move off. I set the hook again and the fight was on. Once I got it to the boat, it was a round rock about 3 lbs. The fight was when it rolled down the break to the bottom.
I caught both of these earlier this year on swimbaits. The first one is a Sacramento Pike Minnow that went 7lbs5oz and the channel catfish was 4lbs15ozs.
Caught a 1/2 pound crappie on a 1/2 oz buzz bait. He jumped over a log to hit it. Hooked right in the top of the mouth. I couldn't have placed that big ole hook in that little bitty mouth with my hands. It was hilarious.
Ronnie
I caught a sculpin on a trout lure once, they sure are funny lookin'. I caught a 3" 'gill on a 6" plastic worm. My first crappie was also on "accident" while fishing for bass.
