J Franco,
I know you can differentiate the male and female of the salmonoids by the jaw. Extends past the eye it's a male if it doesn't it's a female. Would you or anyone else know if that applies to other fish species?
Some yes, others no. Some, there's no physical difference.
I don't use it for our trout. I go be mouth shape, body shape, as well as mouth to tell, outside of the spawning runs. During the spawn, the kype jaw is a tell tale sign it's a male.

I typed it wrong , it is a trumpet fish.
QuoteTrumpet fish for sure....trigger is one like I posted!
Guess I had triggers on the mind when I saw the pic. Trigger fish make a wonderful meal, the fellow I go out with on Saturdays always uses a chicken rig to grab a few for dinner, he loves them. I believe but not sure Queen triggers are not legal to keep in Florida, I may be wrong.

That picture was actually taken while diving off the coast of Belize, near, but not in the famouse "Blue Hole"

That was my favorite fish of that season, LOL. It was a very spunky little brown that attacked my rig twice in the "tune up" hole. These tribs have a very healthy, naturally reproducing population of browns. Almost too healthy.
