For me, its KVD and Denny Brauer, I really get inspired by those two. They are always so very confident, what about everyone else?
My Brother...He almost always out fishes me from the back of my boat. It inspires me to try to be better with my technique....
Myself
My buddy Randy B. and his fishing mentor, Wayne P. Randy always outfishes me because of his lessons learned while with Wayne, and because he's been bass fishing longer than I have.
I kind of would like to find a mentor to help me out, but I am doing good by myself as well, I am always challenging myself and learning.
Proabably me.

Nobody. Not even myself. I fish for the sheer fun of it, and have no desire to be "pushed" in any way. That doesn't mean that I don't want to learn new techniques or improve my skills, I just don't want pressure of any kind to interfere with my enjoyment of fishing. I get more than enough pressure at work, thanks.

We all do it for the enjoyment obviously . Guess I should have re-phrased the question to who really inspires you do better.
Myself. I enter a lot of tournaments where basically I get my butt kicked but less so all the time and I'm doing a little more of the kicking all the time. It's the only way I know to improve is to put myself into that kind of situation and scare myself into getting better. I know that sounds kind of wacky but that is what has always worked for me in any other sport like golf

Indeed,I'm gonna go with myself as well. For pure enjoyment as of course in trying to catch more and bigger fish.
If we didn't want to get better we wouldn't be reading this website or message board for advice now would we?

Especially when I'm trying to put my sons or a friend on some fish, not to impress, just so they can experience the fun of it.

I push myself to improve. My entire existence derives meaning from my association with fishing. I participate in forums, read books, and fish as much as I can.

Hard question,
I can say I do it for my Dad cause this was his sport; it was something he was good at. But he is also the same person who has been not wanting me to pursue fishing tournaments and to quit. I guess I do it to prove him wrong, but mainly I do do it for myself. It's one thing that I have found that I'm good at and fully enjoy. I'm never going to stop cause I'm not going to stop pushing myself.

My two friends I fish with. Watching them catch more fish than me always kills me inside because I am very competitive. From there I try to focus this energy on catching more and bigger fish, seems to work sometimes

No one , thank God.
Me and the fish that I am trying to catch.
I'm always trying to learn more and become a better fisherman so I guess I would say myself. It doesn't create pressure or stress for myself. It's my hobby. Trying to become better at a hobby is enjoyable.
Obviously, as with all matters, it boils down to myself.
However, I have to say all you on this board inspire me with ideas of how I can be a better bass fisherman.
My Grandpa, he has a handicap and now he loves to see me out fishing
My PB...it's getting old, I want a new one.
Myself. I am influenced by the guys I compete against.(but they will never know that). My partner, who is my son. We push each other to be better.
watching people around me catching more fish than me
Myself. I am a competition junky..I have competed in something my whole life so when I'm not involved in some type of competition sport I feel lost..I primarily raced my whole life starting with go-karts when I was 9 years old up until racing dirt late models a couple years ago. The mental competition sports is what interest me the most as my fat butt does not have the physical attributes to compete at much.
When I got married and decided to build a house and have a couple kids I did not have the time it takes to compete at a high level in racing. If I cant give something 100% and put myself in position to compete with the best I just rather not do it.
I turned to Bass fishing to keep me sane and really got hooked on the mental side of Bass Fishing. I grew up saltwater fishing and still do from time to time but to me there is nothing like Bass Fishing. It's the challenge of figuring them out and all the techniques used to catch them that interests me. I joined a club to satisfy my competition craving while doing something I love. When I feel I learn enough and have the time to step it up to the next level I want to fish some Bassmaster opens and see where that goes. My ultimate goal is to win one. may be a long shot but we have to shoot for something right?
No one im good enough 8-)

Right on the money...With my kids or nephews there is tons of pressure to put them on fish. Nothing more satisfying than the smile on there face with a big fish.

I hear steroids shrink your egg sinkers.
I'm always pushing myself to get better, but working at a tackle shop I like to know a little bit about everything so I guess that has pushed me a little to become more knowledgeable about saltwater fishing.
My entire family.... they have always backed me in every tournament and always given me faith, even when I had little myself.

The fish.
No one can motivate you. They can however, inspire you. Motivation comes from within yourself. I think Ricky Clunn said that. If he didn't, he should have.

I'm always doing the same. Constantly researching new techniques and bass behavior. If I'm not out fishing, I'm reading about it or watching videos about it.

You beat me to it. This is it in a nutshell.
My time not at the water seems to motivate and push me. Usually, I'm lurking here or reading some various magazine trying to figure out what my next move will be when I get back to the water.
All the hawgs that got away ;D...But they have made for some great fishing stories

My 14 year old son actually pushes me to get better. He learns so much so quickly. He's already better at flippin' and pitchin'. He stands out on the picnic table and practises. I just can't let him out fish "the ol' man" already. We have a lot of fun pushing eachother.
Myself or a fishing partner that is catching more than I am

However, I fish for relaxation and fun, even in tournaments, so pushing myself is not something I do other than for business purposes.
This is a good topic. I love to catch bass , I am expanding my techniques this year and really looking forward to all the new tackle. I do not really get motivated by anyone. I seem to always get fish but really enjoy seeing who ever is in the back of my boat have a great time. My fishing partner is pretty proud of himself when he catches more than me. I always make sure if I am up a bunch of fish to pull up to a good spot and let him throw a few casts first. My enjoyment comes from knowing I had alot to do with teaching him to be a better fisherman and all the different baits to try.
I think I almost like learning new techniques and using them more than I enjoy actually catching fish. I love bass fishing because its you vs. outsmarting the bass. It's one big mind game. My heroes KVD and Denny Brauer are really just further encouragement to want to learn all of those things. You still have to have a passion to want to learn.
KVD is a cool guy, but i wouldn't say he pushes me to be a better fisherman. More like what is pushing me. I would like to get into some tournaments. I like competition and hey, winning some money, would be nice.
myself... If you want to be the best then you dont need anyone to push you.
My son does, he caught a 10lbs+ fish last year while talking on his phone and texting at the same time!lol
SJ
I push myself to be better but my 2 brothers also push me to be better as they have been fishing alot longer than me so I push to out fish them anytime we are out.
There's a voice inside my head that tells me to get better. Unfortunately he's in German so I have to get it translated...
My Dad. Not a doubt in my mind. He has pushed me in improve in every aspect of my fishing (except finese lol). He taught me his style and philosophy and encourages me to soak up all the information I can so that one day I will be better than him.
Mottfia
My fishing buddy Todd. He's one of those guys when he does something he goes all out. He started fishing with me about fours years ago and knows more than i think i will ever know. Spends countless hours reading, researching.and talking to anyone who will listen. I figure if thats my fishing buddy i better get on the ball.
Pretty much yall do! Noone I know bass fishes. I have a competitive nature and I always look for new information and techniques to try to be better.
Myself mostly, I have very limited time to fish so I push myself to at least get one each trip.
I read and watch fishing related stuff and try to expand my knowledge.
My best friend who is new to the sport only goes along for the time to chat. When he beats me, that pushes me to improve. We usually bet a buck each for 1st fish, biggest fish and most fish. That pushes me a little, too.
