When Is The Last Time You Invited Someone Fishing ? 2024

fishing user avatarlanzbass reply :

When I was a child before heading out to fish I would always walk to one of my friends house's and invite them to come along.

As I became a teen I would ride my bike and continued to invite others to come along .

I still invite others to come along with us :)

So am I just old school , or do others still invite ?

fishing user avatarBongos reply :

I invite my friends all of the time.  I've actually got 3 of my friend into fishing this summer (rods, lures, licenses etc.) I can tell you this, I feel good when I hear that they are going fishing or they mention the one that jumped off.  I say to them  "throw the line back in and get'em".  It's nice to share pics and stories and they thank me for getting them started.

fishing user avatarmnbassman23 reply :

My father always took me walleye and muskie fishing from the time I was to young to cast a line untill this day. When I got into bass fishing, not really his thing, I did most of fishing solo due to my friends not being big fisherman in high school.

Now that I've completed college and moved on to new friends, got married, and inherited an awesome family through marriage I haven't fished alone in 2-3 years. I'm always taking my wife, dad, father-in-law, friends, and my wife's cousins. I use to like fishing alone and from time to time I still do, but honestly I've really started to enjoy bass fishing more since getting other people addicted to this awesome sport of ours. Very rewarding and makes for some awesome memories on the water.

fishing user avatarSiebert Outdoors reply :

In the last month I took a buddy that has struggled to catch fish because he is new to the area.  A few weeks before that I took my Brother in law, niece, nephew, and wife along with me because they all wanted to go.  Most of my fishing time now is taking others.

I will say, I don't mind fishing alone.

fishing user avatarGrizzn N Bassin reply :

Everyday lol... but I do enjoy going out alone I seem to be more focused.. either with friends, my fathers friends, or my uncles.. every weekend I take my Dads friends out to my honey holes.. so I guess there my friends too. I learn old school tips from them and I show them new things all the time..

Here's my buddy. He spends 9 months of the year in Iraq as a security contractor. He's into golf; I'm hoping a few more fish like the one above might change that lol We are going on a midnight lunker hunt tonight. He lost another good one after this and was super upset. I had to tell him that's the way it goes and as you get better you will lose less fish. I actually enjoy taking people that aren't into fishing and getting them excited about the sport.

fishing user avatarCapitolP reply :

bout 10 minutes ago, so far there's 5 of us going tonight

I invite my wife every time I go. She declines most of the time, but she'll go once a month or so. There's an open invitation to my son-in-law and my grandkids too.

For a tournament on the Historic James River on August 17th.

Guy could not go so I went by myself.

fishing user avatarHyrule Bass reply :

invited a friend to catfish with me and my brother in law saturday night on lake gaston when i was visiting NC. he said yeah at first then backed out that day for whatever reason. two game wardens rode by us(on shore) in their boat 4 times, befor going around a bend into a cove and docking, then trying to sneak up on us by land. they got 10 feet away and clicked on a flashlight and announced themselves. they just wanted to do a license check, our licenses were good. they were pretty stealthy though, never heard them coming...

fishing user avatarFishing Rhino reply :

Wednesday afternoon.  Went yesterday.  Caught a lot of fish.  Beautiful fishing day on a lake you wouldn't want to fish on a summer weekend.  Cloudy with sprinkles, then an hour or so of steady rain, and very little wind.  Only two other boats on this 1400 acre lake, with who knows how many miles of shoreline.  Great structure.  Great cover.

Many friends want to go fishing until, it's time to go fishing.  Then they don't want to go fishing.

fishing user avatarWRB reply :

Fishing is a sport that it fun to share with a freind and unless I am seriously concentrating on catching giant bass using jigs during pre spawn, I usually fish with a partner. Jig fishing during pre spawn can be very exciting however is very boring for several hours or even days, so I rarely fish with another angler because I lose concentration and mt patients.

I've invited lots of people, they usually only go once though, they try and try while I catch and catch.  I tell em what works for me, but I guess they just dont understand what I've had to go through to be able to catch em like I do.  But for the most part I just take my little ones and those two will fill a boat with lots of bickering and making all kinds of twin noise (those with twins understand what I mean here, those without twins...  well, I just cant put into words the AGGRAVATION AND SUFFERING)

fishing user avatarDiablos reply :

I only invite people who can withstand the awkward silence.

fishing user avatarpaul25 reply :

I invite lots of my friends but like someone said above they always want to go till it's time to go, but I've had my papaw in the boat with me for the past few weeks of fishing and i couldn't ask for a better time when we go

I just finished two days at Lake of the Ozarks with my cousin from San Antonio but I didn't get a picture of him flipping the bird.

fishing user avatarjames_oxley reply :

I try to take others out as often as possible. It's definitely nice to have someone to talk to, especially when the bite is slow.

fishing user avatarbigbill reply :

In the past I would fill up the car with the neighborhood kids and take them fishing with me and my son. I worked nights so I got up early to take them all fishing. Today there all adults and they never forgot about me taking them fishing.

One of the boys I took fishing offered me a free elk hunting trip he is a hunting guide in Idaho. Not that I expected anything but doing good always comes back to us in different ways. Good karma?

My son's ask me now to go fishing. Soon as my grandson gets older he will be my fishing buddy.

fishing user avatarBluebasser86 reply :

When you own a boat and you're always catching fish you don't have to invite people :)

I have a small, bendable tripod and a timer on my camera that I can take a pretty good picture with. I can't remember the last time I went fishing by myself other than short trips after work or to poor lakes that I didn't want anyone else to have to suffer through.

fishing user avatarderekxec reply :

i ask when im not going to wade flats...if im going flats fishing i go alone or with someone else who already knows how to be silent and not splash around

fishing user avatarBrian6428 reply :

Not too long ago. I have a friend that fishes so i invite him once in a while and I even got a friend who doesn't (didn't!!) fish into bass fishing over the summer.

I invite friends whenever I get an opportunity to go fishing for myself. I like having a fresh face in the boat. I also like to share the South Florida fishing experience. But most of all......I do not like to fish alone.

fishing user avatarBassinLou reply :

Shane, do you want more friends?  ;)

Did you take this picture from your boat of those two gators ?

Being from Montana seeing this might make a guy a little nervous!

I've been in Mt. fishing a creek and have encountered Black Bears and Grizzly's,

I'm thinking that might be about the same as a gator if you never encountered one before ?

This might explain the ,"fresh faces", Ha ha ha !!

LanzBass I did take this photo from my boat. The places I fish are loaded with em.

fishing user avatarderekxec reply :

even if you have its sometimes scary haha...me and a friend fished jonathan dickinson park a couple years ago and a huge gator following us when i was trying to get a large snook in the boat lol...they see the splashing and think its feeding time

fishing user avatarww2farmer reply :

I like to fish alone. For several reasons, #1 I am anti-social. #2 I have grown quite weary of showing people "too much", #3 I don't like to have to feel responsible for the other guy catching fish,  which I almost always feel like, so my fishing suffers. And #4...........much like #1 I am just a general a-hole, who is not friendly, short tempered, and if the fishing is slow.........I get worse.

fishing user avatarMissourifishin reply :

I like to get in a good mix of fishing alone, and with others. I like the silence and solitude of fishing alone, but it can be too quiet after a while. Other times it's good to enjoy fishing and conversation with a good friend or family member.

Last time I invited someone to go fishing was 2 weeks ago. I planned to do a lot of fishing alone this weekend, but I caught some kind of bug so I'm staying in bed instead :(

fishing user avatarJaxBasser reply :

I usually go alone but lately this 16 year old kid that lives a few places down from me has been tagging along a lot. He loves to fish and he seems to learn a lot and likes to learn so I'll usually ask him to come along whenever I go out and fish the ponds in the area.

fishing user avatarSouth FLA reply :

I invite people all the time and sometimes they invite themselves.

I invited some old geezer named Dwight, boy was that a mistake! :hammer:

I have seen some of the faces and they aren't fresh! :eyebrows:

I too am not a fan of fishing alone. Just yesterday I took an Amish man and his two sons out to our local lake. I usually only fish for bass, but I worked to put them on bluegill all day. It was fun getting them out there where they can't usually go. Plus I owe it to him- he stores my boat in one of his barns for $25 a month! That's a steal in my area!

fishing user avatarLostinthewoods reply :

I don't mind fishing alone but my girlfriend frequently tags along. In turn she has caught the bug. This Tuesday I'm bringing my best buddy with me. He has not fished since he was a kid. He maintains that he is not all that interested. I think if he hooks a nice bass his tune will change! If he does catch anything I will be sure to snap a picture as proof of his enjoyment!

I agree! To me the silence is anything but awkward though. Relaxing is more like it.

fishing user avatarDogBone_384 reply :

I invited a friend with whom I went to college with nearly 30 years ago earlier this Summer. We both work two jobs and have daughters of similar age so once or twice a month we go fishing for a couple hours, have a beer or two, and appreciate how lucky we are.
